Reviewed Aug 28, 2026Was easy to access, the rooms were clean and close to restaurants on the waterfront. Dorm rooms come with aircon and okay to check in early in the morning due to flight arrivals. Breakfast is okay, great for keeping you full till lunch (but grab early, as it sits there all morning)
Bathrooms really need updating, they are very run down, but still have hot water (if wanted). Toilets don’t provide any toilet paper, just a water hose.

I honestly would not recommend this hostel, especially if you are a solo traveller looking for a backpacker or social atmosphere. I was expecting a hostel with a travelling/backpacker vibe, but that was not the case at all. Most of the people I encountered seemed to be living there rather than travelling, and it did not feel like a social hostel where you can easily meet other travellers. I also paid extra for a female dorm, but it was absolutely not worth the price. There are many much better options in Kota Kinabalu for the same price or even less. The hostel was not clean and did not feel welcoming or comfortable. I had booked three nights, but after staying just one night, I decided to leave. Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend it.

Falls jemand Toilettenpapier braucht, sollte man es selber mitbringen. Es gibt leider wenig Platz in den Zimmern fürs Gepäck

Le lit n’était pas propre il y avait des cheveux sur les draps, pas de papier toilette + 1 jet cassé dans 1 toilette. Douches propres L’hôtel n’est pas simple à trouver (il se situe à côté du magasin Yonex)

Rooms very small, beds not very comfy, towels provided were like blankets, they do not provide toilet paper in the bathrooms, showers and toilets not cleaned, wouldn't call it a backpacker location full of people staying 50 years old +, one of the worst hostels stayed in whilst backpacking

This is the only place I’ve stayed in my 13 years I’ve been travelling that don’t provide toilet paper !! That’s ridiculous you have to bring your own, There was a ‘free breakfast’ but it’s only 3 carbs: rice, noodles or bread. No eggs or meat or fruits is provided. They really are being tight on the money saving! Also a lot of people actually live in that hostel, so it had less of a ‘backpacker vibe’ and more of a ‘you’re staying in someone’s house’ vibe.

現地の人が結構出入りしている為誰がスタッフなのかはよくわからない。トイレとシャワーは別ですがトイレはなぜかいつもびちゃびちゃで少し嫌でした。男女共用です。あと冷房が効きすぎている為とても寒く、ウルトラライトダウンを着て寝ました。

And I was glad to gave us a ride to the airport :)) Thank you so much, if I go to KK, I’ll stay in your place again!! スタッフはとてもフレンドリーで、ベッドも綺麗でしたので快適に寝れました。 毎朝、朝食がついており、チェックアウトの後も荷物を預かってもらえました。 空港まで送ってくれたのも本当にありがたいでした！

Reviewed Mar 19, 2026La experiencia fue muy decepcionante desde el principio. Hice la reserva a través de Booking por un precio total de 19€, pero al momento de confirmarla apareció un cargo de 29€, añadiendo 10€ en supuestos impuestos que no estaban claramente indicados. Reclamé inmediatamente en ese mismo momento y solicité la cancelación, pero el dueño respondió de forma muy poco profesional, indicándome que cancelara yo misma, lo que implicaba un coste de aproximadamente 20€. Es decir, me penalizaban por una falta de transparencia en el precio, incluso habiendo reclamado al instante. Finalmente no cancelaron la reserva y tuvimos que ir igualmente. El hostel es feo y está descuidado. El baño estaba sucio constantemente y no había papel higiénico; cuando lo pedí en recepción, simplemente me respondieron “it’s finished” sin ofrecer ninguna solución. La atención en general fue muy mala, por ese precio hay cosas mejores sin dudas. El lugar es feo feo. Lo único rescatable es el desayuno y la señora que lo prepara, que fue amable.

Il y a 2 WC et 2 douches pour tous les dortoirs. Les douches ne sont pas très propres, il n'y a pas de savon, mais il y a de la pression et de l'eau chaude. Il n'y a pas de casiers qui ferment à clés
