I must say, this is one of the worst places I have ever stayed. From the moment we arrived, the condition of the property was extremely disappointing. The pathway from the main road to the house was dirty and had several hazards. The steps were slippery and poorly constructed, making them particularly dangerous for children and elderly people. Unfortunately, the condition inside the house was no better. The living area was in a very poor state, with broken, dirty and unpleasant-smelling chairs and sofas. There was dust and cobwebs everywhere, and the floors had visible fungus and had clearly not been properly maintained or cleaned for a long time. The overall hygiene and maintenance of the property were unacceptable. The beds in the rooms were also wobbly and felt unsafe to sit or sleep on. The bed sheets and pillows appeared old and had clearly not been changed or properly maintained for a long time. The kitchen was also very unhygienic, with cockroaches present and cupboards containing rubbish. Given the overall condition of the property, I did not feel comfortable or safe consuming food prepared there. What made the experience even worse was the customer service. When I raised my concerns about the condition of the property, the young lady who was dealing with us responded very poorly. Rather than trying to address the issues, she told me to pay for the accommodation and find somewhere else if I did not want to stay. This was completely unreasonable, especially as I was checking in at around 9:00 pm with my children, after travelling more than 200 km from Colombo, and we were a large group of approximately 30 people. At that time of night, finding alternative accommodation for such a large group was simply not a realistic option. I had already paid for the food, but because I did not feel comfortable or safe eating food prepared in such unhygienic conditions, I informed them that I did not want the food. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à Nuwara Eliya auprès de cette famille. On s’est senties bien accueillies, le salon est confortable avec une vue sur la ville, la chambre était très bien, ils fournissent des couvertures pour ne pas avoir froid. Le petit déjeuner était typique et très bon, on répondait vite à nos questions, on a eu des conseils sur les choses à faire aux alentours... Gros plus pour nous avec le cours de cuisine en compagnie de la mère et la fille, c’était un beau moment et on a très bien mangé. On ne peut que recommander d'aller chez cette famille.

I had a really pleasant stay here. The staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and always willing to help, especially with parking and safely stopping my motorbike. The place was clean, well organized, comfortable, and felt very safe. The location is also great, close to the main city and convenient for getting around. Overall, I felt very welcome and comfortable during my stay, and I would happily stay here again.

Très bon accueil, repas du soir proposé très bon. Ils nous ont gentiment fourni des petits déjeuner à emporter car on partait très tôt le matin. Grande maison avec beaucoup d'espace.

Ne pas s'attendre à un hébergement tout refait à neuf, les équipements sont parfois un peu vieillots.

The host was great, really helpful. We enjoyed a traditional home cooked meal. Flexible on room options. Very hospitable.

A pleasant stay with excellent value for money We had a very pleasant stay. The hosts were friendly, helpful, and supportive throughout our visit. The homestay offers excellent value for money and is conveniently located with easy access to Nuwara Eliya. The breakfast was also good and satisfying. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this place to others visiting Nuwara Eliya.

It’s lovely to be back at this place after more than a year. The room is clean and overlooks a tea plantation, the Wi-Fi signal is strong, and buses heading to the city pass right in front of the place. As for the hosts, they are very kind people, and the mother is an excellent cook. The food is also very reasonably priced.

We stayed at Green Villa Nuwara Eliya on the night of 29 July, and we had a truly wonderful experience. The family who welcomed us was absolutely amazing—very friendly, warm and genuinely welcoming. Although we only stayed for one night, they made us feel very much at home. When the mother realised how much we enjoyed their delicious local pancakes, she kindly prepared some extra ones for us to take with us on our journey the next day. This was such a thoughtful gesture and something we really appreciated. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic. The table was beautifully prepared and filled with a wonderful variety of food, including fresh fruit, eggs, savoury dishes and the delicious local pancakes. There was plenty of choice, and everything was fresh and enjoyable. Our rooms were also excellent: very clean, comfortable and beautifully situated. We had mosquito nets, which were useful, and because the rooms were located on different floors, we had lovely views from the balcony. The location is not the easiest to access, but the family went out of their way to make things easy for us. They came down to meet us at the entrance and transported all of our luggage up to the accommodation by tuk-tuk. When we left the following day, they did exactly the same in reverse, taking both us and our luggage back down to the main entrance. Overall, this was a really pleasant and memorable stay. The beautiful views, clean rooms, amazing breakfast and, above all, the warmth and kindness of the family made us feel extremely welcome. We would happily recommend Green Villa Nuwara Eliya.

We stayed at this place for three days. What made all the days very special was the staff at the place. The breakfast we had was very good and delicious. The location was very beautiful and provided a great viewpoint. There is no doubt that this property we stayed at made this trip special. Once again, thanks to the owner of the place and the staff working there.

They lied about the location. In booking they say its half mile from city center. That's a lie it's 3 km away , on isolated area, we're no restaurants or markets. Another think after we had out breakfast no one come to remove it from the table, it stays there tell next day.

Super freundliche Gastgeber, die mich sofort wunderbar empfangen haben. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker. Die Pedro Teefabrik ist zu Fuß erreichbar, zur Stadt sind es allerdings 3km, was aber kein Problem ist, da viele Tuk Tuks unterwegs sind.

Gentillesse du personnel qui s'est réveillé tôt pour nous préparer le petit déjeuner. Bon rapport qualité/prix. On a un petit salon en dehors de la chambre qui est bien agréable !

Totale de maison est bien, et propre.

Maison à l'intérieur belle, pas des clim, ventilateur, pas d'eau chaude chaudière ne fonctionne plus, j'ai contesté avec patron. Je n'ai pas pris ma douche ce matin. D'eau très très froide, j'ai payé plus cher pour rien...

L'accueil très gentil et très bon repas. Très bon emplacement. Très calme.

Chambre très petite pour trois, salle de bains/ WC commune minuscule., literie moyenne.

They were very kind to prepare breakfast in advance for me as I had to depart for the early AM train to Ella. The residence itself is a bit secluded so you sort of need to get around via Tuk Tuk but the price is great, the accommodation is great, the staff are great, the place is very neat and clean.

The host- Sardinia is absolutely amazing. She is so helpful kind and a very lovely person. Her family also very friendly. She has great English and extremely helpful at organising drivers. The cooking class is super authentic and the dinner meal as well as breakfast were delicious. We are sad we only stayed 1 night.

It was central for Nuwarelliya.

The bungalow was nothing like the pictures. Firstly there is a very steep entrance with rough concrete steps, no hand rails, very difficult to negotiate in the dark. Our room had black mould all over the bedroom ceiling and in the bathroom, there was a real damp problem, even the bedding felt damp. You only get a bottom sheet and blankets, I made the mistake of smelling the blanket because it didn't look clean. We paid and left after first night, as had no sleep at all, I suffer with asthma and was really poorly after staying here.

Lovely property that’s perfect for the Pekoe trail just at the foot of the Pedro plantation. Very comfortable with large beds and en-suite in a traditional setting

noise passes very easily in the stay, so you might face trouble sleeping initially, as vehicles or wind sound despite closing the windows might wake you up if it's loud.

Very cheap for 1 night, breakfast was small and a bit bland but still nice to have it included.

Room felt dirty, lots of mould all over the walls in our room. Room was also full of flies when we arrived, as was the communal area (literally loads as seen in picture) and was quite tricky to get rid of them in our room. Bathroom felt like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages, felt grubby and also mouldy. You can’t expect luxury for the price it was, but compared to everywhere else in Sri Lanka we have stayed it felt the most unclean. Also is quite far away from main town and hardly any restaurant choices nearby, though this is not to the fault of the Homestay.
