Casa Cactus Buenavista

This place was a dream. Everything was so beautifully thought out, from the pool to the gardens, and the room. It was a truly luxurious stay. The beds are huge and comfortable, and the rooms spacious. The location in Buenavista means you are close to the lagoon but it’s much quieter and more relaxing than Bacalar (but still only a 20 minute drive away). The owners Jey and Sebastian are so friendly and inviting and really want to make your stay relaxing. We loved the sailing tour with Sebastian and the delicious dinners prepared by Jey. Mari the housekeeper was a lovely presence who provided friendly service during the meals. We were really sad to leave this place and could have easily stayed longer.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa Cactus Buenavista. We were looking for a quiet getaway where we could just relax and enjoy some downtime and that is exactly what we got! The property is very pleasant to just hang out by the pool, read sitting on the patio or walk down to the beautiful lagoon. The hosts and staff were very pleasant and the breakfast delicious. We also had a wonderful dinner at the property one evening. We highly recommend Casa Cactus Buenavista!

Un havre de paix et de douceur! Dès l’arrivée on se sent bien à la Casa Cactus, l’accueil et les bons conseils de Jay et Sébastien sont uniques. Ensuite les chambres, le confort, le merveilleux jardin, la piscine, le petit-déjeuner de Maria. J’ai deux regrets: ne pas avoir goûté la cuisine de Jay et ne pas avoir pu rester plus longtemps. Mais je reviendrai ;) merci pour tout

La cura nei dettagli, l’attenzione agli ospiti, la voglia di condividere la cultura locale e i suggerimenti sulle varie attività hanno reso il nostro soggiorno indimenticabile. Ottima la colazione e la cena. Lo consigliamo a tutti coloro che hanno voglia di autenticità.

Wir hatten eine fantastische Zeit bei Jey und Sebastian. Die beiden sind sehr freundlich und geben tolle Tipps für Unternehmungen. Das Abendessen war sehr lecker. Die gesamte Anlage ist wunderschön und sehr gepflegt. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und können Casa Cactus uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

Kleines liebevoll geführtes Hotel. Tolle Gastfreundschaft der Gastgeber. Schönes intimes Ambiente. Toller tropischer Garten mit Pool. Stabiles Starlink Internet. Das Apartment ist gut ausgestattet mit Küchenzeile, Kühlschrank, Klimaanlage im Schlafzimmer, eigenes Badezimmer, Schlafcouch im Wohnbereich, Schreibtisch und Balkon mit Hängematte und Poolblick. Lage in Buenavista ca. 30 km nördlich von Bacalar und nur ca. 5 min zu Fuß bis zur wunderschönen Lagune. Kostenloses Balneario der Kommune mit Möglichkeit etwas zu essen. Buenavista selbst ist ein authentisches Dorf indem wir uns sehr sicher gefühlt haben. Das Abendessen, das uns Jey zubereitet hat war sehr lecker! Insbesondere die Ananas-Fenchel-Ingwer Beilage!! Wir hatten zu spät bestellt und trotzdem war es kein Problem noch das Abendessen mitzubekommen! Jey hat sogar extra ein 2. Menü für uns zubereitet und ist total liebevoll auf die Sonderwünsche unseres Sohnes eingegangen. Danke nochmals dafür! Die private Segeltour mit Sebastian ist ein Muss! Wunderschöne Landschaft! Wir waren 5 h unterwegs und haben kein weiteres Boot gesehen. Beim Anlegen hatten wir die Möglichkeit mit dem Paddle Board durch die Mangroven zu paddeln, anschließend gab es eine Mega leckere Guacamole. Kalte Getränke konnte man während der Tour dazu bestellen. Das Frühstück wurde frisch zubereitet und war ebenfalls lecker. Für uns war es die richtige Unterkunft! Wir empfehlen jedoch mit dem Auto anzureisen, da es in der Umgebung vieles zu unternehmen gibt. Sebastian und Jey helfen allerdings auch mit Tipps und Empfehlungen beim Organisieren von Transfers und Ausflügen.

The property is beautiful, with a long swimming pool, surrounded by a perfectly-maintained garden. We had 1 of the 4 bungalows, all separated from each other and from the main « building ». Large rooms, private terrace and private hamac! The Casa is just a 5-minute walk (the village streets are definetely safe and inhabitants are nice!) from the lagoon, where the city council has invested in a welcoming grass area, with a long pier and a friendly restaurant. Sebastian can take you for a trip on his boat around the lagoon, for as long or as short a trip as you wish. Chacchoben ruins are 15 minutes away.

Everything was perfect!

Un vrai petit coin de paradis ! A 30min de Bacalar, dans un petit village avec un balneario surprenant et gratuit, cet hôtel est un havre de paix. Les chambres sont confortables, la piscine très agréable et le jardin magnifique. Les propriétaires sont très sympathiques, prêts à rendre service et à donner conseils et recommandations. Sébastien propose des tours en voilier sur la lagune. Possibilité de dîner sur place (excellent !). On a envie d'y rester ...

È una gemma nascosta in un paesino poco distante da Bacalar con camere e bungalow dotati di tutti i comfort. I proprietari sono gentilissimi e si prodigano per farti sentire come a casa. C'è anche una bella piscina nel giardino ed è inoltre possibile prenotare un massaggio rilassante o una gita in barca a vela nella splendida cornice della laguna di Bacalar. Ho passato due giorni stupendi lì, spero di tornare un giorno!

Non poter rimanere più giorni in questo paradiso.

L’hôtel qui nous a sans aucun doute le plus marqué de notre voyage..! Nous sommes tombés sous le charme de ce petit havre de paix et de leurs propriétaires, Jey et Sébastien. Buenavista est un petit village authentique au bord de la Lagune et situé à 20mn en voiture de Bacalar, la route est très belle pour y aller! Jey et Sébastien sont très chaleureux et accueillants, on s’y sent comme à la maison! Ils nous ont donné de très bons conseils pour visiter la région, ont été très accommodants pour les horaires du petit déjeuner, du dîner, pour laisser nos bagages le jour du départ. Les repas sont exquis, vous devez absolument les goûter! Sébastien propose également des tours de voiliers sur la lagune. Le logement est un petit cocon, avec une terrasse à l’abris des regards et en même temps à 2 pas de la piscine. Le personnel est d’une grande gentillesse, merci Marie pour ces bons plats 🙏 Nous y retournerons les yeux fermés

Magnifique petit hotel familial hors des sentiers battus. Idéal pour profiter du Lagoon en tranquillité à partir d'un village authentique. Les chambres sont très confortables, le jardin est paradisiaque, Jay fait des plats exceptionnels et la sortie en voilier avec Sebastian est à couper le souffle. Bref, fantastique !

Essen lecker und preiswert, Frühstück abwechslungsreich, wertvolle Ausflugs- und Restauranttipps und segeln mit dem Eigentümer in der Lagune möglich

knapp 30 km von Bacalar (das uns vor einem Jahrzehnt besser gefallen hat, Stichwort: Sauberkeit, Touriläden) entfernt, aber mit dem Auto (selbst in der Dunkelheit) dank gut ausgebauter Straße in 20 Minuten gut zu erreichen.

Wir hatten wunderbare Tage in Casa Cactus. Am ersten Tag haben wir uns dem Thai-Dinner angeschlossen (Gäste und „lokale Expats“), super lecker durch Jay gekocht und tolle Atmosphäre. Die Bungalows sind großzügig, insbesondere gibt es ein großes Bad mit Wäscheleine für Badesachen. Jay und Sebastian ist das Wohlergehen der Gäste sehr wichtig und sorgen für ein rundum entspannende Zeit. Die Segeltour mit Sebastian mit Mojitos und Guacamole in einer verlassenen Lagune hat und besonders gefallen. Parking innerhalb des Gates möglich.

Das Frühstück war frisch mit Obst, (zuckerfreiem) Jogurt und Ei. Man konnte selbstverständlich nach mehr fragen, jedoch waren die Portionen von vornherein recht klein. Es gibt eine einfache Filterkaffeemaschine, eine Espressomaschine und Hafermilch (Mandelmilch war verfügbar) hätte uns gefallen. Insgesamt war das Frühstück gut, jedoch im Vergleich zum sensationellen Abendessen überraschend einfach.

Nous avons adoré notre séjour à Casa Cactus Buenavista et aurions aimé rester plus longtemps tellement nous nous y sentions bien. L'hôtel est magnifique et propre, belle piscine, le personnel est gentil. Un vrai havre de paix. Le petit déjeuner est délicieux (mention spéciale pour les pancakes). Nous avons fait un tour en voilier avec Sébastian, seuls au monde sur la lagune, je recommande cette expérience également. Jey et Sébastian nous ont aussi partagé leurs bonnes adresses pour aller manger. Bref, nous espérons revenir un jour à Casa Cactus Buenavista !

Idealer Ort, um zu entspannen und die einzigartige Lagune ohne Rummel zu erkunden. Andererseits ist das belebte Bacalar nur 20 km entfernt. Die jungen, engagierten Gastgeber haben eine wunderschöne Oase geschaffen und kümmern sich liebevoll um Ihre Gäste - Jey kocht ausgezeichnet 😋 und Sebastian führt auf seinem Segelboot durch die Lagune - ein besonderes Erlebnis in unberührter Natur 🤩 ! We hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad, alles is nieuw en prachtig aangelegd. Lieve mensen, lekker ontbijt, fijne ruime eigen bungalow, erg schoon. Enorme aanrader!

Jey and Sebastian have created a small oasis of well-being here – a place designed with great attention to detail that immediately makes you feel relaxed and at home. Our room was large, bright, and very spacious, just like the bathroom. Everything was clean, stylishly furnished, and truly comfortable. A special highlight was the breakfast prepared by Mari: incredibly delicious, freshly made, and served with great care. You can really tell that everything here is done with heart. Throughout our stay, we were very well taken care of and always felt welcome. Another unforgettable experience was the sailing trip with Sebastian – simply beautiful and highly recommended. All that’s left to say is: this accommodation is more than worth it. Anyone who books a stay here will definitely not regret it!

Kleinschalig, in een veilig dorpje met zeer vriendelijke dorpsbewoners. We voelden ons thuis en veilig. Marie, Jay en Sebastian: veel dank voor de gastvrijheid, boot tour, heerlijke ontbijt, services en open gesprekken ;). Chicu-cat was the best. Huurauto is handing.

C’est peu dire qu’on a (tout) aimé ! De l’emplacement à Buenavista, donc sur la Laguna Bacalar mais à l’écart de la foule, jusqu’à la sortie en voilier proposée par Sebastian, en passant par la nourriture. Non, parce qu’il faut parler de la nourriture de Jey, hein. On ne mange pas mieux au restaurant (au Mexique ou ailleurs). Mention spéciale au thon en croûte de sesame du premier soir… Bref, on a adoré. On vous a dit que les toucans viennent tous les jours ?

Le fait de devoir partir, sinon, je ne vois pas.

die Gastgeber und die Unterkunft waren einzigartig, sehr ruhige Lage etwas abseits von Bacalar. Sehr leckeres Essen (Frühstück & Abendessen) und komfortable Zimmer. Trotz der Unruhen in Mexico zu der Zeit fühlten wir uns in der Unterkunft immer sicher. Buenavista ist ein sehr kleines Dorf, es gibt aber trotzdem 2-3 „Restaurants“ in der Nachbarschaft, ich empfehle aber das Abendessen von Jey.

es war alles perfekt, wir waren ohne Auto da und mit Auto wäre es noch etwas komfortabler gewesen da Buenavista doch etwas abseits ist.

Un séjour absolument parfait ! J’ai particulièrement apprécié l’accueil chaleureux et le professionnalisme des proprietaire toujours disponible et attentionnées. La chambre est spacieuse. L’emplacement est idéal, et les espaces communs sont soignés et agréables avec piscine et très jolie jardin. Le petit-déjeuner était bien préparé par Maria Je recommande cet hôtel les yeux fermés et j’y reviendrai avec grand plaisir.

We hebben heerlijk genoten van dit fijne, kleinschalige hotel. Super vriendelijk personeel, het heerlijke avondeten van Jen en natuurlijk niet te vergeten de onvergetelijke zeiltocht met Sébastien! Helemaal alleen op het rustige stuk van het meer met lekkere guacamole en mojito’s. Ps dit hotel ligt in het rustige deel van Bacalar. En al helemaal heel ver weg van de onrust in het westen van Mexico; we hebben er helemaal niets van gemerkt in dit deel van Mexico.

Kleine tip: het ontbijt smaakte heerlijk, maar had va mij wat meer mogen zijn

We stayed for 3 night and it was great. Jay had a big list of activities and recommendations in the area, Sebastian did a sailing trip with us and we went to a secluded, beautiful spot in the lagoon and Mari kept us fed in the morning and kept the room looking great. My wife and I ended up spending the evenings chatting to Sebastian and Jay by the fire. It was a great experience and we'll be coming back in a few days when we return from Mahahual.

Everyone went out of the way to make sure we were comfortable and happy, everything was great.

L'accueil parfait : gentillesse, excellents conseils, discussions intéressantes, échanges très faciles et adaptés. Les chambres sont très agréables, avec petite terrasse donnant sur la piscine. Le petit déjeuner est délicieux et complètement adapté à vos goûts.

Le seul petit bémol, si nous devions en trouver un (mais tout était parfait) serait la distance pour se rendre à Bacalar (25 min / 28 km) où se trouvent les "animations" (restaurants, tours en bateaux...).Mais les hôtes proposent aussi des repas et un tour en voilier sur le lagon. Vous pouvez donc rester à l'écart de la ville (qui n'a pas non plus grand intérêt).

Nous avons adoré notre séjour chez Jay et Sebastian ! Dans l'ordre d'apparition :-): 1. Le lieu est magnifique, soigné et relaxant. Et Buenavista est un véritable village local, en dehors des endroits plus fréquentés par le tourisme 2. L'accueil de Jay, de Sebastian et des autres membres du personnel, sincèrement aux petits soins avec les hôtes (conseils, cuisine,...) tout en gardant leur authenticité 3. Les activités à réaliser: la détente dans le hamac, le petit-déjeuner ou le dîner au bord de la piscine, un tour en voilier sur la lagune, une visite de Bacalar et des environs, tout donne envie d'y rester plus longtemps. En bref, à recommander et si nous avons l'occasion de revenir dans la région nous y passerons certainement. Thanks again Jay, Encore merci Sebastian ! Gracias a todos (et aux tortues de Gabi) !

Best stay during our 6 weeks trip! Such a lovely place, 20mins drive from Bacalar, but really calm village in the northern, not so crowded part of the lagoon! Founder’s are great help with many things. But also just hanging out at the pool, was amazing LOVED IT ❤️

Casa Cactus ist eine wunderbare, kleine Ruheoase außerhalb von Bacalar. Die kleinen Bungalows sind geräumig und sehr sauber. Der Pool und die Außenanlagen sind sehr gepflegt. Der 'Bürgermeister' des kleinen Ortes kümmert sich um den Garten, die Nachbarin kümmert sich um das Frühstück und die Zimmer und ist die gute Seele des Hauses. Ihre Enkelin hilft, wenn sie kann. So wirkt es, als würde das halbe Dorf zusammenkommen, um dieses Projekt möglich zu machen. Abends haben wir entweder das Essen bei Jey bestellt oder beim 'Asiaten' um die Ecke geholt. Danach saßen wir oft mit den anderen Gästen am Lagerfeuer. Diese Mischung aus jeder kann sein eigenes Ding machen und Gemeinschaft fanden wir sehr besonders. An Silvester hat Jey ein spezielles Silvestermenü angeboten, welches wirklich fantastisch war. Und natürlich die persönliche Empfehlungen für Aktivitäten.

The standard including cleaness at the property, friendly owners and relaxed feel. The meals, both breakfast and dinner were high quality. The sailing trip was memorable. There is access to the Bacalar bay very nearby, where one can chill out and swim with locals. The owners offerred useful tips what to visit.

It is located in a small village which is good to experience but the property does not have easy access to Bacalar lake.

Casa Cactus Buenavista was the perfect peaceful escape! The lush gardens full of birds, the beautiful pool, and our charming casita with a super comfortable bed, hammock and private terrace made it easy to relax. The WiFi worked great throughout our stay, which was a big plus. The staff — Jey, Sebastián and Mia — were warm, attentive, and helped with everything from taxis to beach clubs. We took an ADO bus to Bacalar and a short taxi (about 30 mins / 200–250 pesos) to the property, and got around easily without a car. We loved the breakfast and dinner plan — every meal was delicious (favorites were butter chicken, cochinita pibil and tuna poke bowl!). We also recommend Sebastián’s private sailing tour — a serene experience with guacamole and drinks on the beautiful northern lagoon. The small town of Buenavista feels rustic, safe and peaceful, with lagoon access a short walk away. We highly, highly recommend staying here!

The property may be a tad remote for some but we absolutely loved their location!

Die Unterkunft ist ein stilles Paradies, ca. 25 km von Bacalar entfernt. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Jeder Wunsch wurde uns von den Augen abgelesen. Es gab ein ausgezeichnetes Frühstück inklusive Baguettes. Alles wurde frisch zubereitet. Das Frühstück ließ keine Wünsche übrig. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und werden auf Wunsch täglich gereinigt. Wir hatten einen der vier alleinstehenden Bungalows. Top Empfehlung. Wer den städtischen Trubel sucht, muss circa 25 km nach Bacalar zurücklegen. Der Betreiber spricht spanisch, englisch, deutsch und französisch und hatte immer super Tipps für uns parat. Wir haben uns super nett unterhalten. Seine Frau ist ein Goldstück.

Alle waren sehr nett, haben mit Anliegen oder Wünschen sofort geholfen und die Anlage und der Pool sind wahnsinnig schön. Man muss sich bewusst sein, dass das Dorf klein und abseits von Bacalar ist, wir sind jedoch grade für die Ruhe dorthin gekommen und waren sehr zufrieden. Das Frühstück wird variabel an die persönlichen Wünsche angepasst und es gibt im Dorf auch zwei kleine Restaurants, wo man nett und preiswert etwas essen kann, außerdem einen Wasserspender. Die Zimmer werden jeden Tag sehr gründlich gereinigt und wir haben uns wirklich sehr wohl gefühlt.

Als einzige Kleinigkeit hätten wir uns ein Moskitonetz über dem Bett gewünscht (waren am Ende der Regenzeit dort) - es gab aber Netze vor allen Fenstern und Türen also ist das wirklich nur ein Minipunkt. Sonst war alles fantastisch

A very beautiful hotel with clean rooms, very comfortable beds, even a nice hammock and some chairs outside your room to relax in. But that's not even the main reason to go here. The owners are very friendly, attentive people who want you to have the best time. From advice on what to visit/do during the day, to cutting some aloe vera to treat my sunburn, they are ready to help. Just awesome!. Also, Jey is a great chef. I absolutely recommend having dinner at the hotel when you are there!

Très bel établissement tenu par un jeune couple très sympathique qui fait le maximum pour ses clients. Appartement confortable, et propre. Belle piscine au milieu d'un jardin bien entretenu. Nous avons fait une magnifique sortie en voilier avec le propriétaire Sebastian sur la lagune. Petit déjeuner et repas du soir peuvent être pris sur place et sont faits maison.

Le logement se situe dans un petit village un peu isolé, il faut une voiture pour aller à Bacalar (25 minutes)

Nous avons passé un séjour extrêmement agréable à Casa Cactus Buenavista. L'hotel est très beau, les chambres spacieuses et bien décorées et tout est pensé pour que le voyageur se sente bien. Jey et Sebastien sont très chaleureux et les diners proposés par Jey délicieux. Buenavista est un village très calme loin de l'agitation de Bacalar. Je recommande chaleureusement cet hébergement.

L’hôtel est incroyable : propre, intimiste et très bien entretenu. Tout le personnel est aux petits soins et a beaucoup de conseils à partager pour découvrir le coin. Sebastian propose des tours en voilier dans la lagune de Bacalar : c’est un de nos meilleurs souvenirs, nous étions seuls, à l’écart des nombreux bateaux de tourisme, c’était un moment magique.

Nous avions louer une voiture et je pense que c’est préférable pour y séjourner : l’hôtel est un peu à l’écart de Bacalar et cela permet d’être plus libre de ses mouvements

Jasmin and Sebastian were lovely hosts and made our stay at Casa Cactus in Buenavista unforgettable. Everything is to like about Casa Cactus, from the carefully decorated room, to the food that is creative, delicious and fresh, to the garden with beautiful plants, a pool to refresh and attentive staff. To make the most of Casa Cactus I recommend having your own car (although the hosts can help with arranging a taxi). The place is perfect if you are looking to relax, lay back and enjoy nature, but also be able to get to more lively places like Bacalar which is 20-30 mins by car. Jasmin and Sebastian made everything to ensure our stay would be perfect and gave us great advice on things to do and visit to get a real authentic experience. (They suggested a nearby spot for a beach day on the lagoon. The spot was secluded, and felt very intimate and private, with the jungle in the background, it was a bless compared to the crowds in Bacalar. Furthermore Buenavista is a perfect spot to visit Bacalar, but also other attractions nearby like Mahahual, a town on the Caribbean side, the ruins of Chacchoben or doing guided jungle tour.) Be aware there's not much choice for eating out in Buenavista, but you won't need it with the delicious food prepared by Jasmin. We preferred having dinner at Casa Cactus because of how good it was. Me and my girlfriend had the best stay here and would definitely recommend it.

The food was exceptional, beautifully presented and delicious and hosts Jay and Sebastian were delightful! The suites are well designed, spacious, cool and the bed was so very comfortable. Gardens lush and a beautiful, sparkling pool. Will we be back? FOR SURE!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in their peaceful and beautiful property, surrounded by a lovely pool and an exotic garden. We highly recommend it – it's the perfect spot if you're looking to experience an authentic village, with a car to explore the surrounding areas. Charming nest and hosts in a peaceful location away from touristy Bacalar - still close to all activities

Relaxing and calm place. You feel like in the middle of nowhere. Perfect place to relax. Hosts are really nice. Buenavista is a small village. But all people in village is super friendly. Very nice community. Beautiful garden and clean pool, from water of the lagoon. You can feel the nature.

We didn’t include the breakfast on our booking. So we believe food price could be cheaper for what you get when paid directly on site. Bed was not the most comfy one for us. It was a bit hard but this is always a personal feeling. 😉

This was one of the most special places we stayed during our trip! From the very first moment, Sebastian and Jey made us feel so welcome — like being part of a family. Our 3-year-old son felt completely at home and could move around freely and safely, which made the stay even more relaxing for us as a family. The room was perfect — spacious, comfortable, and ideal for our needs. The homemade food was absolutely delicious, and sharing a meal together felt like dining with friends. We also took a boat tour with them, which was a fantastic and unforgettable experience. The garden and pool area are calm, shady, and full of love for nature — perfect for unwinding. You can feel that everything here is made with heart. If you are looking for a place that is more than just a hotel — a place with soul, genuine hospitality, and a family-friendly atmosphere — this is it. We are so grateful for the time we spent here and hope to return one day!

There was truly nothing we didn’t like — our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer, as our trip had to go on.

Very nice accommodation. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the outdoor sitting area and pool were great. There was plenty of greenery and many birds in the garden. The owner and staff were also very friendly.

The bed was a bit hard, but other than that, everything else was great.

I spent more than 2 weeks in Mexico with my partner and friends and this was definitely the best accommodation. The rooms are very spacious and nicely designed. I really liked the garden and swimming pool area (very relaxing!). Casa Cactus Buenavista has a great location to explore places like Bacalar, Los Rapidos, Mahahual. Regarding food, the host can prepare it for you if you order in advance (it was so delicious!!!). You can also visit a local restaurant located few minutes on foot from Casa Cactus (there is also an option to have it delivered). Close to Casa Cactus there are also local shops with food, honey, souvenirs. Wifi signal was strong and available everywhere (not only in rooms). Jay and Sebastian are fantastic hosts. They took care of us so well. I felt like at home :) I truly recommend Casa Cactus Buenavista and will definitely go back when I am in Mexico again.

This place is PERFECT!!! If you are looking for a nice quiet getaway, this is the place! The rooms were spotless, the grounds were beautiful, and the staff was extremely friendly! I've been coming to the the bacalar area for the past 5 years, and this is by far the best place I've stayed. The quality of the rooms and other amenities like the pool are perfectly hidden in a very authentic Mexican Pueblo.

It is a perfect place for a quiet retreat from the normal tourist spots but It is necessary to have a car because it is too far away from bacalar without one. However, if you have a car, the distance is not a problem at all. 20 minutes down the road and all the great restaurants are at your fingertips. But without having to suffer through any of the noise and nightlife! This place is wonderful!

Sebastian and his wife the owners of this «casa» are absolutely nice, careful and all else you could think about a property owners should take care about their clients. You can go there with closed eyes, you and your family will enjoy the experience a lot. The amenities are great including the swimming pool. The rooms are huge and well equipped. Don’t miss it if you are in the area!!!

Extremely helpful with activity and restaurant suggestions, arranging transportation, etc. They made sure you felt welcome in their peaceful and inviting oasis. The property is located approximately midway between Bacalar and Mahahual. With a combination of private and local transportation, it is very easy to get around. I highly recommend this property, and hope to return soon. Thank you Jey and Sebastian for a lovely stay!

The hotel and the territory was great. We stayed with a 1 yo baby, who enjoyed the garden and the pool. A comfortable crib was also provided. A great breakfast was freshly made every morning. It’s a bit distant from the city, so make sure you have a car. Overall, highly recommended, will do again.

"Our stay was simply magical! We booked last minute, and it felt like we had stumbled upon a hidden paradise. The pictures honestly don’t do this place justice – the beauty here is beyond words. The garden is lush, with cozy, winding paths surrounded by tropical plants, and the whole place is meticulously cared for. We even picked fresh bananas from the trees for breakfast! You can see so many birds sitting in your private padio Our room was elegant and comfortable, with a super mattress that allowed us to sleep so peacefully. We left the mosquito net open to enjoy the breeze, which was just perfect. It’s hard to believe a place like this exists just a few meters after entering the town. The food was outstanding. We enjoyed the daily special, and every meal was freshly prepared with local ingredients. The lobster with lemon sauce was honestly one of the best meals we've ever had! The pool is large, sparkling clean, and a great spot to relax – a true oasis on the north side of the lagoon, far from the crowds. We spent time in Bacalar, just a 20-minute drive away, but we loved relaxing in the pool and on the hammocks just as much. The owners and staff were incredibly welcoming, and breakfast was a delight each day, prepared with whatever fresh ingredients were available. This stay exceeded all expectations, and we’d recommend Casa Cactus to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in nature." We also explored a hidden beach club recommended by Casa Cactus it was beyond imagination. The route to the beach club is bumpy for 1 km, but it's worth a drive , we saw some monkeys when we were walking downhills to the dock. It feels like all the lagoons are just for yourself. We went to Bacalar too, but we preferred this quite part of the lagoon, so authentic tourism. Our best stay in Mexico. Don't think too much when you book it place . You will have amazing stays and conversations, and it's so personal .

The owners Sebastian and Jey make you feel you are friends and the property and bedroom are just amazing. Bed is very comfortable, all is super clean , we also loved the decoration and the pool. We had also an excellent lobster dinner with best lemon sauce cooked by Jey. The best lobster we had during our stay. Buenavista is a great location because logistically you are closed to many tourist attractions ( Mahahual, Chachhoben, Dzibanché, Bacalar laguna) while being staying in a quiet village out of the tourist beaten path. So for us this was perfect and price was excellent. We extended our stay as a matter of fact. We hope to be back soon again! 😃
