Reviewed Dec 4, 2025Lovely character cottage attached to rebuilt schist stone cottage that was once an 1880s blacksmith shop. Beautiful mountain views through the trees. ~5 minute drive from historic Arrowtown. Host James very helpful and knowledgable. Cottage decorated with paintings from local artists, a bit quirky and tastefully done.
One could pin prick on a few minor niggles but that would be petty when the overall experience in this restful place was much better than expected

The door handle with a pin never worked. The front door did not lock. The house next door had a dog that consistently barked. The entrance to the two houses smelt like cigarettes. The toilet roll holder was broken. Overall, the place was nice but definitely not worth the money. Very expensive for a house that clearly is being left unmaintained.

The home and grounds are clean, peaceful and tranquil yet only a few minutes to drive to Arrowtown or Queenstown for great eating places, shopping and activities. Reviewed Dec 24, 2024Great cottage just outside Arrowtown. Very complete with 2 big bedrooms both with their own bathroom, one with a nice big bath. Very comfortable beds. Full kitchen with all you need to prepare any meal.
The only thing missing was a clothes rack. There is a line outside but in case of rain a rack will come in handy.

Reviewed Aug 20, 2024Comfy, warm, quiet location that's close to everything. All mod cons in the cottage and comfy beds made it very homely. Very easy to keep warm. Great, comfy beds. Two bathrooms made it easier. Loved the electric blankets! Great communication too. Would stay again, for sure!
Lounge layout made it tricky as only 3 of us could see the TV (if sofas were moved around that would solve that issue). Only a small gripe in the scheme of things though.

There was long black hair throughout the house, it was folded into the made beds in both bedrooms and throughout the blankets on both beds. Somewhat dodgey electrical work and exposed wire on the kitchen floor, range hood electrocuted husband as it blew a bulb
