Bad attitude from reception staff member. Tried pressing buttons for access - didn't work. Phoned advertised number 3 times. No response, eventually gate opened. Bad response and attitude from staff member - decided to cancel booking immediately. Won't even attempt to stay there in the future.

WiFi was bit intermittent, but I assume that is par for course in such a remote location.

Reviewed Feb 11, 2026The guesthouse has a welcoming and friendly ambiance, the room was a bit small for two people and two dogs but it was only for one night and therefore no problem. It’s good value for money! Our short walk around town was delightful - Colesberg could be a real gem if only it had an administration that cares enough to keep it clean and well maintained. All in all a recommendable stay over!
We hit the one day where it poured in Colesberg. I am sure the people who live there were happy about the much needed rain. But unfortunately our ceiling had a leak, and so we waded in water all over our bedroom. Constant dripping kept us awake, and to top it all the electricity went off because of the storm, and it was quite a challenge to navigate our way around in a slippery dark and cold room.

The temperature but it’s no fault of theirs and it really helped that the rooms have air conditioners.

Very impractical in rooms. No place to charge phones, etc. No packing place in bathroom. Everything has to be on the floor at the basin in the bathroom. Aircon did not work efficiently.

Reviewed Jan 9, 2026Room was neat and clean. Herb Garden has a garden that provide us with calm and restful moments. The secured environment gave us peace of mind throughout our stay.
We had to adapt to the manual operation of the security gate. We are too much used to remote control operations. Although the space in the bathroom was a little bit tight, we managed to make the best of our movements without discomforting each other.
