Everything was good.

I assumed the room booked to be a motel like room,was in fact a backpackers lodge,not suitable for us, unaware there was manager close, that may of been able to help,never used room just left and went elsewhere, expensive exercise,and they refused a partial refund,never again,

Expected a motel room but was a 2 bed no facilities in room,and no refund even though not used at all,

Loved being across from the beach for the sunrise. Having a towel as well as linen was a nice surprise. Met a wonderful person in my dorm and had great chats.

Nothing major - just minor things. I arrived late and was a little unclear as to booking protocol and procedure, so others helped me sort that out. Didn't have any direct contact with the hosts. Not sure it can really be avoided, but I didn't enjoy arriving to people drinking and smoking outside the entrance on arrival. It made me fearful it might continue (it was a Friday night) but thankfully things quietened down. Someone also arrived even later when myself and the other person were asleep, but they were relatively respectful. Irony of trying to be respectful around water and power use, with one of the bathroom taps not being able to turn completely off.

As a hostel-style accommodation this place was excellent. The room and bathrooms were clean and well-appointed and the kitchen had everything we needed. The views from the lounge and dining area were exceptional

Our bed (room #1) was a bit too soft for my taste but would suit others. Had a particularly inconsiderate person making lots of noise early in the morning, but that's not the lodge's fault

The owner of the place was very friendly and nice. There was also a cat that made me feel right at home. The place was beautiful with gorgeous view from the common area to the mountains and ocean. The room was tidy and there was a heater which was very nice. There were hiking trails near by and you could basically walk to the beach from the front door. If you come with bus like I did, it takes about 30 minutes to walk from the bus stop to the place but you get to walk smooth trail along the sea shore and mountain views. I was very happy with my stay and will forever miss Kaikoura as it was such a beautiful place overall.

The shared kitchen has uninterrupted views of the the coast across the road and snow-capped mountains in the distance

Staff took off early and "late" check in was a hassle if we jad no mobile data to read booking.com message about self-help checkin. The heating in room has to reset manually every half hour thus our night was cold. 2 of the three dim lamps in room were not working. Heating in shared male bathroom was not working.

Le fait que tout est autonome est surprenant, mais du fait que les indication soi très bien expliqué (envoyer par mail ou sur la plate-forme par la quel vous réserve) cela ne pause aucun problème. Ça peut également permettre d’être moins préoccupé par sont heur d’arriver. Aussi non rein à dire l’emplacement le logement tout est parfait. Et la vue est une des plus belle que j’ai eu du rend mon road trip

I absolutely got what I paid for, however it wasn't quite what I expected based on the pictures and the reviews. All the common areas are facing the view and the kitchen was well stocked.

The room was smaller than I anticipated and the bathroom was in need of updating, it was very hard to contain the shower water.

Great location, equipped kitchen and the view from the kitchen and our bedroom window was breathtaking! Only a 5 minute drive away from the spot with the best sunrise you've seen :)

A bit busy and crowded in the kitchen around dinner time.

The noise from upstairs carried through the floor. Very loud.

PERFECT LOCATION , ITS AMAZING

I was very pleased that I was able to book this property at the last minute through Booking.com and arrive within just 15 minutes. The booking process was quick and convenient, and I really appreciated that a room was available when I needed it. The only area that could be improved is the check-in process after 7:00 PM. It would be much better if late check-in were made easier and more straightforward. When I arrived, there was no staff at reception, and I was fortunate that some kind guests helped me complete the check-in. Perhaps the staff were unavailable because I had made such a last-minute booking. Overall, I had a good experience and enjoyed my stay. With a simpler and more convenient after-hours check-in process, this place would provide an even better experience for future guests.

Perfect location, spacious, comfortable, great views and great value

Some communication problems when we couldn’t get to our booked accommodation as Kaikoura was cut off due to flooding, they kindly gave us a free night when we passed through next time.

J’ai beaucoup apprécié l’ambiance conviviale entre les backpackers. L’établissement bénéficie surtout d’un emplacement exceptionnel, juste en face de l’océan et des montagnes. Le lever de soleil est absolument magnifique et vaut à lui seul le détour. C’est un très bel endroit pour faire une étape et profiter de la nature

La cuisine manque de quelques équipements, ce qui peut être un peu limitant pour préparer ses repas. La chambre n’était pas parfaitement propre à mon arrivée. Pour une nuit, cela reste tout à fait acceptable, mais quelques améliorations sur ces points rendraient l’expérience encore meilleure.

Why are there still fake palm trees out the front of the lodge? Upstairs bathroom facilities could be cleaned and/or revamped. Downstairs better.

Beautiful location very clean and comfortable. Photos on the website are exactly like the accommodation. I highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

I wish I could have stayed longer, but I was travelling on a short trip.

The location and views out of the windows are incredible. I didn’t realise that it was a 25 min walk from the bus stop, but that’s on me for not checking! The bedrooms were well heated and everything was as expected. Mr B, the cat, was friendly if not a little mischievous. Staff weren’t around at check in, but were in the lodge periodically to check in so there was always a friendly face around. A great place to stay in Kaikoura and I’d definitely come back.

Honestly I wouldn’t change much, I found the showers a little small to change in and the lounge lights a wee bit too white (but I’m a sucker for mood lighting)

Kaikoura je nádherné místo. Zasněžené vrcholky podtrhly jeho krásu. Viděli jsme i blue whales, delfíny, seals i albatrose. Užasné. Také skvělý seafood a procházka kolem Kaikoura Peninsula. Díky!

Well equipped shared kitchen although it is overdue maintenance like taps and sockets not working. View from room would be nice if windows were clean. Great location

Before arrival they took extra money from my credit card and they haven't returned it. They probably do it to everyone as I've sent 2 emails plus reported through booking. Com Maybe if they didn't steal the money I would have liked the place more.

Mattresses could be renewed. Long walk to town center. It's better to have a car (or hitch hike).

Amazing location right by the ocean, you can walk to the pier to enjoy sunrise. Kitchen well equipped and lounge area very cozy. Bed was comfy and room warm.

The kitchen taps were leaking 24/7. Needs fixing. The sign in the bathrooms saying to conserve water seemed hypocritical.

12 out of 10. This place is AMAZING!! Go and stay there. Grahama is helpful and friendly. There is self check in that is very easy, on the day of your stay you get an email with a code to the front door and your room. Sooo clean and lovely decor, and the kitceh has everything you need. The best part is it, that it is right across from the beach and a short walk to the Pier Hotel for a fancy pub meal. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

The location was great and the room was very clean.

A couple of the lights in our room didn’t work, there weren’t that many bathrooms for the size of the place.

My bed wasn't made, don't think my bed sheets have been replaced so I didn't end up staying for the night. There was no staff on site.

Staff every friendly and helpfull with great local knowledge. It really made the trip by finding some local spots. Local was great beside the point hotel and close to playground for the kids. Great kitchen space and breakout areas. Views are awesome. Very clean and tidy.

Microwave was on the blink. Our bunkbed had no ladder.

De ligging aan de baai is prachtig. Heb een 2p kamer voor mijzelf alleen gekregen. Alles via online communicatie.

Best een eind lopen van het ‘centrum’ van Kaikoura waar de bus uit Christchurch je afzet. Nooit enig personeel gezien.

Kitchen closing 10pm Tiny dorm room, only one socket in room even tho it said socket near bed in the booking, no privacy at all (no curtains on bed) Gets pretty loud around 7am so it’s hard to sleep in on a day off Only a few of the kitchen stoves are working Staff closes windows in dorm room during the day so it’s hard to come back to fresh air

The common areas were cozy, clean and functional.

Our room was not what we expected from the website pictures. It was very tiny, had very limited comfort, and the installations (lights, AC, shower etc.) were not very updated/functional. There was clearly an issue with humidity and the air quality was horrible in the room.
