The View from BIDE

This was cute remodeled penthouse room with a view overlooking the beach. It was magical. We slept with the window open so that we could hear the waves crashing on the sand during the night. This was decorated so nicely with a modern vibe. The kitchenette was a nice touch as well and came in very handy.

Just everything! Shower pressure was awesome! Kitchenette had all you’ll need. Bed was super comfortable and there was no noise at all at night. Had the best sleep of the 5 day trip

-Avoir accès au logement était difficile . Même si un e-mail reçu la veille expliquait la manière d’entrer il nous a fallu 20 minutes pour comprendre que Google Map était correct et que le logement loué « The view from Bide » était en fait les «Marines rooms » . Franchement c’est désagréable . En plus on me dit que c’est la chambre 4 mais il existe un logement n°4 qui est en fait un autre appartement … -La poubelle de la cuisine était encore pleine des clients précédents . Donc on se demande quid pour les draps 😉 -Par contre un e-mail reçu à 8h04 nous rappelle que le check out est à 10 h . Comme quoi ils font attention à ce qu’ils veulent bien . - Le lit loué «  king size «  est un king size UK càd 160 cm de large et non 180 cm comme en Europe (Queen size =160 cm -King size =180cm de large) -Un miroir au dessus de l’évier de la salle de bain me semble normal et indispensable

The room was great. Trying to find a place called The View was the worst. Why do you call it The View when the name is Marine? It looks nothing like the picture on the booking site. The end of a long tiring day traveling and we spent at least an hour trying to find the place on Shore road. We had no address. We had no house number. There were about 10 different units at the end of Shore Road, but none said The View. I placed a phone call to a number on my reservation, but only got a stock answer that no one could answer the phone right now. Finally I look up Marine and find that your location is the teal door. Mind you, still no number. Finally find a code to get in. By this time we were so discouraged. When we finally got in, the room was very nice.

Just been refurbished and was in excellent condition, facilities were outstanding and owners couldn’t have been more helpful

Would have like a room as per picture but was great for one nights stay and a lovely warm room. We had an issue but it was very quickly resolved on New Years Eve too!

The apartment has amazing view to the beach and a great location. It was very warm when we entered the room. The apartment was well equipped with plates, cutlery, coffee machine, kettle, under-counter fridge and microwave which we found very useful.

The table was to low for us to eat from it. There was so damage in the bathroom (walls and next to the sink). We were unable to use the balcony due to the bad weather and the windows with the view to the beach cannot be opened due to the weather conditions.

We were there to go surfing and the location could not have been better! We were in the family rooms and they were great for our purpose with lots of space. The beds were comfy and rooms were warm, smart tv that you can connect to for streaming, and the kettle and microwave were great for heating up some food for lunch. The staff were super friendly and the accomodation was dog friendly.

I'm aware there are plans in the works for a room with a kitchenette - that would be perfect! The only missing thing would be somewhere to hang wetsuits in the bathroom but that's a niche request.

Óptima localização, zona muito tranquila e a minutos a pé do centro da cidade. Edifício e quarto renovados recentemente. Excelente escolha da decoração. Casa de banho espaçosa e muito bonita. Apesar do quarto ter vista para o páteo/parque de estacionamento é muito tranquilo. Muito útil a disponibilidade de microondas, máquina de café e frigorífico. Equipa da manhã muito simpática e prestável.

I thought there were too many comms. Not sure if that was a Booking.com thing as don’t usually use the company. Also, we didn’t get our final joining instructions until the arrival day which felt odd (with so many other comms flying around) and caused me stress. If one of the comms had said when would receive final details, I would not have worried.

De locatie is prima, praktisch in het centrum. Ruime badkamer met goede douche. Alles is netjes en schoon. Uitstekende WiFi.

De kamer heeft 1 klein raampje en kijkt uit op de binnenplaats. Je voelt je erg opgesloten. Het geheel is gedateerd en kan een renovatie gebruiken. Geen enkele info over wat er in de directe omgeving te doen is. Er zijn messen, glazen en kopjes e.d. maar geen borden?

Shower took quite a while to warm up

Uno de los mejores lugares en que me he alojado! Excelente habitación con todo lo necesario para estancias largas o cortas, frigobar con botellas de agua que reponen todos los días, lo mismo con el café o té, reponen o puedes pedir todos los días. El personal es uno de los más amables que he conocido, 1000/10! Queda justo frente a la playa y a unos minutos caminando del centro, así que tienes acceso fácil a todo, tiendas, supermercado, restaurantes, etc. Totalmente recomendado!

Tuve que extender mi estadía por dos noches, debido a la tormenta de nieve que canceló los trenes y buses. Cuando reservé dos noches más, tanto la dueña como el personal me ayudaron a coordinar todo y me dejaron en la misma habitación, para evitarme problemas, fueron super amables y consideradas. Totalmente recomendable el lugar, no solo por las instalaciones, si no también por la calidez humana con la que te tratan. Se esfuerzan 100% en hacer de tu estadía lo mejor posible.

The quality and location

Lovely room with an amazing view and the shower was particularly great.

Confusion with the check in a room changes. Not a big deal but the host was unreachable via WhatsApp only booking.com so it worked out fine in the end.

We adored everything in Marine Rooms. We stayed for 3 days and spent Xmas there, which was very comfortable and cozy. Our host Pamela was an absolute pleasure and she assisted us in every possible way. Room 1 was very big , with views to the beach and very warm. There were facilities for tea/coffee and a microwave as well. Bed was super big and mattress was soft as for the shower, everything was impeccable!Everything was within a walking distance from the center and we would love to spend more time there… till next time!

Directions to the property are inadequate please add W3W location as ///twinkled.riots.hobbit to the property details. Didn't like the need to pay extra £10 for a 10am checkout it would be a bit more honest to set the rate to include a sensible departure time?

The property was very clean and the bed was so comfy. The lady we spoke to about dropping our bags before check-in time was lovely and helpful, (we’d got the train up to stay for one night and wanted to get the bus to John O’Groats - bus stop easily accessed from the property.) The accommodation was an easy walk from the train station. Thank you for a lovely stay.

THE ONLY small thing was it was dark when I arrived . It was hard to see/operate the lock box to get the key out because I was alone and couldn't hold a torch as well as open it.

Superb location. Well-organised setup. Clean rooms. I would stay here again.

Sharing the bathroom with other guests but it did not bother us that much other than one guest hogging the bath and taking their sweet time.

When I arrived the room was so hot to open the windows and leave the room was not an option as they were level with the road. The sea view … more a pavement view. It was quite depressing. The room had been serviced but half bottle of water in the fridge so not sure if used before. No fire alarm or carbon monoxide alarm. But the worst was Everytime someone used a toilet in the block the pipes could be heard all night. So an awful night sleep. There were no plates, no wine glass.

Self-serviced apartments so do need to check your messages/emails for check in procedure code entry - works perfectly fine once you've got it. Shared bathroom bit tricky with morning routines & 10am checkout- but they do have enough suite options available!

On our arrival into the room, a beautiful warmth hit us. Most impressed with the heating system. We loved the fact that 2 sides of the room was glass, so bright.

Disappointed that our balcony overlooked parked cars and an old colourless courtyard. Surprised, and not in a good way at the cheap BLACK curtains that were also lacking a number of curtain hooks. Looked scrappy and tacky.

Stayed before in room 1, this time up in room 4 with the shared bathroom. I was abit dubious about sharing a bathroom but it was kept very clean and the shower was brilliant. Lovley room, with microwave and fridge that came in handy. Excellent location in the town right next to the harbour. Got treated to the northern lights as well!! A stone's throw from the place is the pier that was nice and dark. Massive king bed that was super comfortable. Got a sneak peak at the new suite being built in the old breakfast room.....looks like it'll be a cracker, will definitely be back.

Sehr schöne Lage mit Blick auf das Meer. Im Zimmer gab es einen kleinenKühlschrank und eine Mikrowelle, sowie Teller und Besteck inklusive einem süssen Gruss. Das Badezimmer war gross und sauber.

That's nothing. Not to like the rooms are beautiful. The views are beautiful and the lady that caritas was so friendly. You got a nice little tea set up area. You got plates and forks etc. Got a fridge kettle coffee maker, TV loads of lighting. There was actually had compartment of plug sockets that was connected to a cabinet so you can put all your tech that needs charging up for your next journey and it was warm all night. I was not cold for one bit but it wasn't overly hot either. There was loads of pillows. Nice bedding curtains All matched elegantly

Great location for an overnight stay after getting off the ferry from Stromness. Comfy bed, good size, reasonable price. Having a fridge and microwave as well as crockery and cutlery is very convenient. The only bad part was the view from the window( we were spoiled by having beautiful views over the beach from room 1 last time we stayed)

Bit awkward having a shared bathroom for several rooms. Also, that bathroom door was not labelled, which meant a bit of "trial and error" to open doors (they all looked the same)

The location from Booking.com was not accurate but we found it on Google maps. The bed was good. The bathroom was excellent and the room warmed quickly.

the listing misrepresents the facility, we thought we had booked a bright room with a large patio doors looking out to sea. The room was in a corner of the complex with one small window looking onto the car park and, as we dont like dark rooms, we wouldn't have booked it if we had realised. When we walked around the front of the property we could only see one room that had the large windows that feature frequently in the gallery above.

Our room was spacious with a nice view down the beach. Close to walk around town. Comfortable beds. We had a shared bathroom between 2 rooms which was clean and handy.

The bedroom door lock was very hard to open. The room had a musty smell and old carpet.

We loved the view,closeness to beach and parking outside. Microwave was useful as weren't many places to eat.

We found it a little hard to find. Numbers on doors or building be useful but perhaps not allowed.
