Es war alles super! Sehr freundliche Gastgeber, die sich um alles gekümmert haben! Die Lage ist perfekt für beide großen Felsen und für die Safari, die auch vom Gastgeber angeboten wird!

The hosts were very welcoming and made everything super easy for us. They arranged all activities and at a great price. The food was the best we had in the entire trip, highly recommend the chicken kottu and coconut rottis

Ce logement offre une vue directe sur la montagne Pidurangala, et est à quelques minutes à pied de cette montagne. La chambre est grande et rien à redire sur la propreté des lieux. Le petit déjeuner et le dîner, payants et plus cher que la moyenne du marché local, peuvent être offerts, ce qui est pratique quand on part ou arrive à des heures non standards.

Le séjour s'est terminé sur une note amère car j'ai retrouvé un scorpion dans ma salle de bain le jour du départ. Après avoir parlé au propriétaire, aucune réaction de surprise de sa part, aucune excuse, aucun effort pour m'en débarrasser, aucune proposition d'utiliser une autre salle de bain. Pour cela, je ne conseille pas ce logement si aucune solution n'est mise en place pour éviter ce genre de problème. Si je n'avais pas pris la précaution de fermer la porte de la salle de bain durant la nuit, ce scorpion se serait retrouvé dans mon lit... Par ailleurs, pas de bouteille d'eau proposée ou de bouilloire dans les chambres. Logement difficile d'accès la nuit car une des deux routes qui y mène est impraticable et il y a des risques de rencontrer des serpents ou des éléphants la nuit, donc impossible de marcher.

The room was comfortable and we enjoyed all our meals (extra price). It was an easy walk to both rock viewpoints and into town if you like a longer walk.

It can be quite noisy early in the mornings so not easy to have a relaxing morning in your room or on the terrace.

The property is beautiful, the food so good, the host is so nice and the location is super close to Pidurangala Rock if you want to go for the sunset.

The host offered to pick us up at the train station and drive us everywhere during our stay but make sure to ask the price before because it was super expensive... I would recommend using bikes or scooter instead

We really enjoyed our staying in Sigiria Narana! The location is in 10min from the rocks by the feet. Service is the best - the owner met us on the train station Habarana, transferred to his house, his wife made the best rice&curry in Sri-Lanka! The next day owner dropped us to Pidurangala and when we came back, they gave us a beautiful breakfast! All is the best, recommend to stay here - you'll feel yourself as at home!

Perfect location to hike on Pidurangala, just 800 m away. The owner dropped me off there at 5 am. Room is clean, comfortable mattress, mosquito net. Delicious Sri Lankan dinner and European-style breakfast. Bikes are available, so you can explore the area.

Barking dogs in the night, but this is not something the owner can fix. Just take earplugs.

Fantastic location for both rocks. Everything we needed in the room. The hosts went out of their way to make my partner's birthday so special. Meals available if you want for additional fee. They dropped us at pidurangala rock at 5am so we could climb it safely before sunrise for a small fee. The host also did us a safari in his jeep which was incredible!!! Everything was worked around what suited us and we wanted for nothing!!!! The hosts made everything seem so easy. We absolutely loved our stay here and would love to come back.

At night not every tuk tuk driver wants to go there bc it’s elephant territory.

Very friendly hosts, the husband drove us to the start of the hike for very little price and took us on a safari to see the elephants. The wife cooked us nice breakfast and dinner. The location is great, lots of wildlife around. The room is quite spacious with a lovely veranda where we ate.

It was very difficult to cool down the room because the windows are all on the same side and the fan wasn’t enough for us. The mosquito nets are not the most convenient because in the middle of the night we could wake up with the net on the face. Lots of wildlife noises at night — prepare your earplugs. Also, there are 2 roads you can use to get to the property. Make sure to ask the host about the condition of the roads. We came right after some heavy rains so we almost lost the bumper driving in the dark.

I really appreciated the incredibly warm and kind hospitality of the owners and their help in arranging all the activities! Their children were adorable as well. I like how you get a closer connection with Sri Lankan culture instead of staying in a large hotel. Ohhhh and the home cooked food was incredible too!

Personally I did not find the herb and spices tour enjoyable as the people are quite focused on selling products instead of teaching about plants.

We had a fantastic stay. The host was incredibly attentive and took care of all our needs, making us feel truly welcome. The homemade food was delicious, and the room was clean and comfortable. We loved relaxing on the beautiful terrace, surrounded by natural sounds. The property is within walking distance to Pidurangala Rock, which was perfect. The host also offers safari and other tours, making everything easy to arrange. Highly recommended!

Nous avons passé un incroyable moment chez nos hôtes, C’est une famille vraiment incroyablement gentil qui est prête à tout pour que vous passiez un moment exceptionnel ils sont très arrangeant, leur plat sont juste délicieux que ça soit du petit-déj’, déjeuné ou dîner et se préoccupe de votre bien-être tout au long du séjour, Il propose aussi un Safari qui est vraiment au top, vous êtes sûre de voir des éléphants et en plus il est vraiment raisonnable au niveau du prix Je recommande les yeux fermés, un grand merci à eux 🙏

Прекрасно было все! Дружная гостеприимная семья. Разговаривали с нами весь вечер - научили одевать сари и сарон. Чудесные милые дети! Утром хозяин отвез нас на гору. Это было очень приятно) после нашего возвращения - был вкусный завтрак! Также хозяин может устраивать сафари, на котором можно увидеть слонов и других животных! Рекомендую всем окунуться в атмосферу настоящей Шри-ланкийской семьи!

Sehr ruhig gelegen, so wie wir es gerne haben. Direkter Blick auf Pidurangalla rock. Zu Fuss 10 Minuten entfernt. Schöner Garten und feine Terrasse auf der wir gegessen haben. Das Beste aber sind die Gastgeber. Sunanda hat alle unsere Wünsche erfragt, da hatten wir immer das Gefühl, dass wir Teil der Familie sind. Das Frühstück und Abendessen hat seine Frau bereitet. Es war lokal und von absolter top Qualität!!! Gute Empfehlungen für Tagestrips. Die Jeep Safari zu zweit mit ihm war ganz besonders, weil er gut vernetzt ist und wusste in welchen Park wir müssen. Deshalb haben wir an die. 200 Elefanten im Minneriya Park gesehen. Ein wunderbares Erlebnis. Er kennt zudem die Gegend und hat uns sehr viele Informationen gegeben. Zudem hat er uns am 1. Abend noch am Bahnhof abgeholt, das war nach 5 Std. Bahnfahrt ein Toller Empfang. Absolute Empfehlung!

Bir aile nin yaninda 2 tane otele dönüştürülmüş misafir evi var. Oda gercekten harika klima var ve tertemiz. Aile çok tatlı her konuda yardımcı oluyor. Safari araçları da var fil safarisine de götürebiliyorlar. İki tırnanış noktasına da yürüme mesafesinde. Yemekleri ev sahibi kadın yapıyor ve sri lankada yediğim en iyi yemeklerdi diyebilirim. Sadece yemekler için bile gelinebilir.

お部屋がとっても綺麗です。床はピカピカに磨き上げられ、素足で冷たくすべらかで心地が良いです。この土地の気候にもよるのかもしれませんが、外も朝、夜は湿度のない風のおかげでとっても心地よく、テラスでの食事も最高でした。ホストのご夫婦お二人は、お食事から部屋の居心地にいたるまで、細やかに気を配ってくださり、子供たちのために辛くないお食事を毎回メニューを変えて用意してくださり、とっても感謝しています。子供たちも普段は食べなれないスリランカのライスアンドカリーを美味しい、美味しい、と食べていました。 息子さん娘さんともすぐに仲良くなり、一緒に遊んでいて、小さいお子様がいらっしゃるご家族には特におすすめです。 ここからピドゥランガラロックはとても近いので、シーギリヤのライオンズロックと両方登って景色を楽しみたい方にもとてもよいロケーションだと思いました。

お部屋の設備という点では、シンプル、テレビやポットなどはありませんが、そんなことはどうでもよくなるくらい、なぜかとっても居心地がよかったです。敷地にある広いお庭のせい？この土地のせい？もあるのかもしれません。ベッドメイキングは、ホテルのそれと何ら遜色ないと思いました。

Le propriétaire est très attentionné. La chambre est spacieuse, bien équipée et climatisée.

Les extras (bières, transport, ..) sont chers par rapport à d'autres. Le lieu est difficile d'accès. Il n'est pas possible de se rendre à pied au rocher de nuit à cause des éléphants (pour le couché ou le levé du soleil)=> attention cela n'a rien à voir avec l'hébergement mais c'est bon à savoir car c'était l'objet de notre réservation à cet endroit.

Séjour incroyable ! Sunanda et Samadi sont les meilleurs hôtes que nous ayons eu pendant notre voyage. La chambre est très propre, le linge de toilette et les draps aussi. Les équipements sont très biens (moustiquaires, eau chaude, climatisation, ventilateur). Sunanda nous a organisé un safari exceptionnel et nous a emmener à Pidurangula avant le lever du soleil. Il parle très bien anglais et connaît très bien la région. Il nous a fait de nombreuses suggestions pour visiter Sigiriya et ses environs. Samadi nous a cuisiné un repas local pour le dîner et un petit déjeuner très bon. Elle est la meilleure cuisinière que nous avons rencontré au Sri Lanka, en plus d’être adorable. Leurs 2 enfants sont adorables, c’était un plaisir de les rencontrer et passer du temps avec toute la famille ! Un grand merci pour votre accueil exceptionnel ! Tout était parfait !

Our family had the absolute pleasure of staying at Sigiri Arana in Sigiriya, and it’s safe to say we left with full hearts, happy stomachs, and unforgettable memories. From the moment we arrived, Sunanda, Samadi, and Randi made us feel like part of their family. Their warmth and hospitality turned their lovely home into a home away from home. The property itself is nestled in a peaceful, green location—comfortable, clean, and serene, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. We genuinely wished we had booked a longer stay. One of the highlights was the early morning hike up Sigiriya Rock. Despite the 5am start, it was already bustling with other sunrise seekers. Sunanda kindly offered to take us, sharing interesting stories along the way. The panoramic views from the top were stunning, and the local wildlife—monkeys and birds—were all too happy to mingle with the tourists! We also visited Pidurangala Rock, just a short walk away (definitely bring shoes with good grip). And our jeep safari with Sunanda in his own vehicle was a standout experience. It was an incredible day seeing elephants up close, spotting monkeys, peacocks, and a range of wildlife. The kids absolutely loved the ride, and the thoughtful touch of snacks and drinks made it all the more enjoyable. Every morning and evening, we were treated to delicious home-cooked meals by Samadi, who is truly a fantastic cook. The variety of curries was astounding—some of the best food we had throughout Sri Lanka. We looked forward to each meal on the porch, sipping a beer, watching the wildlife, and chatting with the family about the day’s adventures and plans for the next. Sunanda is deeply knowledgeable about the local area and wildlife, and he’s always eager to share this with his guests. His passion for nature and community really enriched our experience. We left feeling incredibly grateful—not just for the amazing memories, but for the seeds from their garden, which we’ll plant at home as a reminder

Sunanda en zijn familie zijn super gastvrij en behulpzaam. De locatie is perfect, beide rotsen zijn op loopafstand. Ontbijt, lunch en avondeten is allemaal te regelen en superlekker. Vraag vooral naar de pittige variant als je van pittig eten houdt. Sunanda heeft zijn eigen auto voor een safari. Je kan makkelijk uitjes naar bijvoorbeeld Polonnaruwa en Minneriya regelen. 's Avonds kan je lekker zitten op het terrasje voor de kamer. De kamers zijn netjes en comfortabel.

Excellent hosts, very friendly and welcoming. Had plenty of local knowledge and ideas for activities. Breakfast and dinner we had were very tasty as well!

Sunander and his family are the best hosts one can ask for. They went above and beyond to make our stay the best possible. Sunander drove us to Lion Rock and Dambulla in his vehicle and they cooked us such tasty food. They are hardworking and kind and have been working for 15 years to open their guesthouse! Stay here when you are in the area - you have a view of Pidurangala rock and Sigiriya rock is only 15 minutes by foot.

Everything was perfect!!

My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights. The homestay is within a 10 minute walk to Pidurangala Rock and a 20 minute walk to the entrance of Sigiriya (Lion Rock). You even have a view of both from the home. The owner and his wife cooked delicious homemade meals for us, breakfast each morning (tea, eggs, rotti, with Coffee & Tea), as well as dinner sets for us in the evening (Sri Lankan chicken curry with rice, noodle, fried rice, soup, & desert). With large portions, you won’t be left hungry staying here! We chose to climb Pidurangala Rock for sunrise in the morning, and we were given a ride at 5am before dawn from the villa owner for a good price. There’s lots of incredible nature (Arana) at the property, with friendly village dogs, peacocks, & beautiful birds all passing by. The 2 guest rooms are connected to the owner’s family’s home, and we were always greeted with big warm smiles when we interacted with them. If you’re interested, the owner also does a Safari tour, having his own vehicle for it. Thanks for welcoming us to Sigiriya! Hosts family were really wonderful. Room are spotlessly clean, A/C, hot water shower & mosquito net. Food was homemade and delicious. Great location for climbing Lions Rock at sunset & Pigeon Rock for sunrise.

Nothing really. Good was a bit pricey but totally manageable.

We had a lovely 1 night stay. Location is perfect for going to Pidurangala rock / Lions Rock - if you go for sunrise you can get a lift there in the way in (too dangerous to walk due to elephants!) and then walk about afterwards. Room was clean, AC was nice & cold and the food was tasty & reasonable (£5-£8 a meal). Which is good as not many restaurants within walking distance. Also as it was Sri Lankan New Years we got to do/see some fireworks! I would recommend staying here especially if you want a good location and a lovely host family!

I chose this place for being a bit out of town and I loved the location. The room is nice and new, the bed is really comfortable and everything super clean. The bathroom is spacious and clean. I enjoyed hanging out on the terrace and enjoying the surrounding. The optional breakfast and dinner was great. (I even got a small bday cake, that was a lovely gesture.) Pindurangala rock is 10 minutes away on foot (you will need a lift if you go for sunrise), while the entrance of Lions Rock is about 30 minutes away on. The hosts were nice to offer different programs, also offering safari (which I didn’t do, but heard good reviews from the couple staying next door).

You’d better have your own wheels or like to walk, otherwise you’ll feel a little isolated out there. I expected there are bicycles to rent (based on the service info on the site), but that is not the case. The optional meals are a bit on the expensive side, but not much dining options in the area. Walls are extra thin, you will hear every word spoken in the other room.

I liked everything about this accomodation. First of all, Rathnayaka and his wife did eveything to have a great experience. Since we arrived he recomended a very nice tur, with the bowl, the boat and a cooking lesson of sri lankan food - i really recomend this tour. Then he helped us with his car to get early morning 5AM to pidurangala rock. We also had dinner and breakfast to their home - great food, great taste( they are trying to get you as much as they can). Also Rathnayaka ask me several times: Are you happy? Because he really wants you to feel great. The silence and peace from his place is wonderfull. Also I had the opportunity to see a big elephant în their back yard at 100m(don't worry it was 100% safe). Inside the rooms were very clean and beds were also very confortable. I recomend 100% to choose to stay at Sigiri Arana.

Sunundai and Samadi were the best hosts, so friendly, kind, helpful and generous. The location is rural and almost in the centre of both Pidarangula Rock and Sigiriya Rock. So you can hike Pidarangula for sunrise and Sigiriya for sunset on the same day, if you wish. Sunundai is also a guide and I did an elephant safari with him which was excellent. We saw various herds of elephants up close and I was even lucky enough to be shown a baby elephant (about 1 month old). This was a truly beautiful experience and Sunundai was an excellent guide. The accomodation is spacious, clean and comfortable. Samadi can make you breakfast/dinner for an addition fee and her cooking is top quality. Both Samadi and Sunundai work very hard to make sure their guests have a 10 star stay. Oh and the garden is beautiful and the bird life is amazing!! I highly rate this stay if you want to be in a more peaceful and rural location that is easily accessible to the beautiful Pidarangula and Sigiriya rocks. Many thanks Sunundai and Samadi 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

It's worth noting that Google maps finds it difficult to find correct location. So give tuk tuk drivers the name of the road and tell them it's very close to entrance for Pidarangula Rock. Any issues call the number.

Sunanda and his wife are the most perfect hosts. Kind and generous they run a spotless homestay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast are delicious. The Lions Rock and Pidurangola are within walking distance - both well worth climbing. Sunandina offers safaris to Hurulu Eco Park to see the elephants - magical! Highly recommend 👌

We loved our stay with Sunanda and his family. They are helpful in arranging transport, activities and provide excellent hospitality. It’s in a great location, very peaceful in amongst the greenery. Make sure you give your driver the correct address when you are arriving as there is another Sigiri Arana that is getting built nearby.

Such a lovely, friendly & welcoming family who treat their guests like family too. Good communication on WhatsApp, nice welcome drink, delicious home cooked meals, nice big spacious room and a beautiful terrace. Surrounded by peaceful nature, peacocks in the garden in the mornings. We asked for recommendations on what to do and they arranged a local village tour for us. Was such an authentic experience with the friendliest people and an amazing lunch cooked by the local women. Can’t recommend staying here enough, 10mins walk from Pidurangala rock (which you can see from the terrace and garden). Thank you

It was an incredible stay in this lovely homestay. The whole family is more than welcoming and caring. It is only 10min away from Pidurangala Rock (transfer for the morning hike was organized) and around 20min away from Lions Rock - all by foot. It's very quiet, except the sounds of the jungle which was a perfect get away in Sigiryia. They also provide Safari tours, if you want one. The accommodation was very tidy and the beds comfortable and there was hot water If you would have needed it. Both of them really get out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable and i immediately felt relaxed after traveling to Sigiryia. The food provided is homecooked and incredible (also try their dinner). Their concept seems to be quite eco friendly alltogether. I would recommend it for sure and will come back again :)

Perfect stay to visit the lion rock! The hosting family was very welcoming and helpful! We would come back!

The location is excellent. It is halfway between Lions Rock and Pidurangala Rock, about 10 mins walk to both. They are such a lovely family and offered help and advice to me while I stayed. I ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here and it is the best food I have eaten since arriving in Sri Lanka. The accomodation is just recently renovated so is very clean and modern.

The place is very near Pidurangula Rock! The host drove me to the entrance for a sunset hike and drove me back to their place to have an amazing dinner!

The host family was great. They were super fun, nice and gave us all the useful tips for exploring the neighborhood. Traditional meals the family prepared for us were delicious and they even did cooking class one evening for us. All the ingredients were super fresh and from host’s garden. The room was nice and clean. When you’ll visit them you will feel as in your own house. They were super kind and we’ve felt comfortable with them. If you are visiting sigiriya you need to see how local people live.

We didn’t have any information about costs of things during our stay and get to know the price only at the end, but it was still worth the price.

Great location, but ask your host for directions as one of the roads are pretty bad. Beautiful area and welcoming hosts. They drove us to pidurangala early in the morning for us to hike up and then drove us back. Clean and beautiful room with a comfortable bed. Really recommend to anyone going to Sigiriya

The ventilation was not optimal since they had put glass over the vents to keep bugs out. However they said they would switch it for nets in the future and were thankful for our advice.

This is the perfect spot to base yourself for a sunrise hike to either Pandulra or Lion’s Rock (do both if you can, they’re great)! The host family is lovely and go out of their way to make you feel at home and are very helpful. I definitely recommend this place!

The place is in a very good location, a few minutes by tuk tuk from the Pidurutalagala rock. The room and bathroom were clean, sufficient for 1 night. The place is run by a nice couple with a cute child. ☺️

No air conditioning. It was hot at night and the fan was loud, so it was difficult to sleep.

It was perfectly situated close to Pidurangala Rock, making it the ideal base for a sunrise hike. Plus, the surrounding nature is also gorgeous (there were parrots eating the corn from the field next door). The room itself is very clean, well-maintained, spacious, etc. All the good things! Hot water, if you need it, and quick reliable wifi. I ordered one dinner, cooked by the family, and it was amazing. It was the most expensive meal I’ve had in Sri Lanka, yet also one of the best. Big portions as well. The family is very friendly and accommodating as well, with two very energetic little kids.

Not a bad thing because the remoteness is a great part about this place… but it is harder to access from town. Tuk tuks want 900-1200. I recommend walking since it’s only 3km to town.

Everything was great! It's a really beautiful and caring family running the place. It's a perfect location for both rocks hikes in Sigiriya as it is just short walking distance to the entrances. The room is spacious, clean and very comfortable. The view from the garden is awesome. It's quiet and peaceful. It is located a bit far from shops and restaurants, but you can have your breakfast and dinner on the spot which I recommend. I had local curry for dinner and it was fantastic! The owner even dropped me off in Dambulla bus stop on his way to work. So much appreciated! Stay here if you visit Sigiriya.

Superb Location with Star Class Services The hotel is located in a Quite Area, Jest a short walk from the sigiriya Rock & Pidurangala. It's very convenient place to capture the beautiful view of sunrise & sunset and the views of the rock from the hotel are amazing. Very clean, comfortable rooms which were great value for money. The family were very helpful with everything and food was delicious. Favourite Breakfast of our trip. I highly recommend the sigiri Arana. You will also get to experience real Sri Lankan hospitality.........
