Reviewed Jun 15, 2026The property was pretty and is well located. We had a double family room: one which is practically a full apartment and a second bedroom with a private little garden in between. For being located in a commercial area, the apartment felt very serene and quiet. We had lots of privacy. The street where the property is located is awash with cool shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. It is also a very short drive to the beach and table mountain. They offer a hearty breakfast and our room has a fully equipped kitchen (we didn't use it bit it's very handy for guests who plan to stay longer and cook from time to time). There's free designated parking provided for us by the property although it is outside the gate. The area felt safe enough anyway for us to leave the car there.
We struggled a bit with bringing our luggage to and from the room as the courtyard wasn't paved. Also the 2nd bedroom only has a bathtub and sink (we had the double family room), no toilet.

The decor and the atmosphere are so unique, it’s a charming secluded place yet right in a lively neighborhood. So nice to be offered breakfast in the garden and afternoon tea with home backed cake in the living room. The team in charge is nice and welcoming, we appreciated the French touch mixed with the Cape vibe.

Eén kleine opmerking: als het gordijn in de badkamer open was, was er inkijk (toilet). Misschien een lichtdoorlatend gordijntje hangen? Nu enkel een verduisterend gordijn, waardoor je moet kiezen tussen inkijk of onnatuurlijk licht.

The gardens are dappled in sunlight with the sound of running water from the fountain. The room was spacious and light, with a comfortable bed and a hot powerful shower. The team seem to be more like family than colleagues. They make you feel at home, and are very attentive without being intrusive. Great breakfast options with fresh juices, tea and coffee. If you are looking for a home-from-home, peaceful, welcoming, comfortable place to stay then this is it.

Reviewed Feb 13, 2026Very cute French vibes, lovely quiet garden in an amazing location with everything you need within a short walk.
We repeatedly saw rats running around the garden, up the side of the building and in & out of the bins. We saw them every night of our 4 night stay and so have to assume they are resident here. They didn’t put us off sitting in the garden but we were worried about the possibility of rats in the room/the living area where food was left out for breakfast and snacks. We were careful not to leave food in the room or leave the door & window unattended but it only takes one less careful guest for them to take up residence in the rooms. Additionally, when booking we missed that there was no air con in the room we booked, given AC is listed on the property details as a whole. The ceiling fan was too noisy but they provided an additional standing fan which meant we were able to sleep comfortably in the summer heat even without air con.

Our room was a little bit damp and musty and an aircon unit would have been a nice addition.

Reviewed Jan 20, 2026My husband and I are just back from our first trip to Capetown and staying at La Grenadine for seven nights which made our trip - it was like home away from home. Maxime and his staff were brilliant. We were made so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was situated on the top floor and was absolutely beautiful - large bedroom with plenty of windows and large bathroom. There was also a lovely terrace with a partial view of Table Mountain. Breakfast each morning was excellent and eating same out in the garden was a bonus. The hotel was so central within walking distance of everything. Maxime organized two day trips for us - one to Cape Hope and one to the vineyards with Talent as our driver. No matter what question you had Maxime was always there to help you as were his staff. Thanks once again for a memorable and magnificent stay in Capetown. It was an oasis in a busy city. Ray and Patricia.

Reviewed Jan 19, 2026Your staff is for sure your biggest bonus, they were so friendly and informative, there was an intern that welcomed us, and she was excellent. Rooms so clean and beautiful decor. We stayed in the Cottage and would have loved to have a little weber in our courtyard, and even a hot tub - but maybe next time. :) We will definitely share your oasis in the middle of town with all our friends. Location perfect.

Staff friendly and incredibly helpful. They allowed us to check in early and get into the room. We enjoyed our stay. The bed is extremely comfortable.

It’s peaceful and comfortable and perfect for travellers looking for staying in a cool period building. Reviewed Nov 24, 2025Heel vriendelijk personeel, lekker ontbijt. Mooie kamers en heel goede locatie. De binnentuin is een geweldig rustplekje in de drukte van de stad. In de namiddag ook steeds heerlijke cake of zelfgebakken koekjes ter beschikking. Was een fijne verrassing.
Onze kamer was heel mooi, maar de badkamer is moeilijk af te sluiten. Niet handig bij toiletbezoek.

The open plan bathroom and toilet might not suit everyone but the water was hot and plentiful.

Reviewed Feb 10, 2025Breakfast was fresh and healthy produce. Delicious juices. Beautiful garden courtyard that felt like an oasis in the middle of the city. the location was fantastic with shops and restaurant a short walk away in a safe neighbourhood. Maxim was very friendly and helpful.
Suprised that for a frenchman the cheeses were not better in the morning ;) Otherwise hard to find anything to critisise!

Reviewed Jan 31, 2025We really enjoyed our stay at La Grenadine. The hosts are beyond friendly and the rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated. The garden is amazing and peaceful. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and it’s safe to walk there. The breakfast was amazing.
The only downside is that the rooms do not have air conditioning but we had two ventilators which kept us cool enough!

From recommendations on how to plan our day to completely sorting out the dropping off of our hire car at the property The hotel has such a welcoming vibe and feels like a mini oasis in the middle of Cape Town

Reviewed Nov 17, 2024We had a wonderful stay at La Grenadine! We loved the attention to detail in the decor of the rooms and the location was just perfect—surrounded by great cafes and restaurants. Despite the lively area, the peaceful garden was a perfect relax. Maxime and his team were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!
