Die Aussicht ist Hammer! Es ist alles da was man braucht. Natürlich damit nicht im Zentrum gelegen :-)

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour: le cottage est très propre, confortable, spacieux et bien équipé. La vue de la terrasse est magnifique. Vicky a été aux petits soins avec nous: suite à problème sur la route nous sommes arrivés très tard cela n’a pas posé de problème, adaptation des horaires de l’électricité suite à l’arrivée tardive ou départ matinal. Nous étions en hiver : pleins de couvertures sont mis disposition, les matelas sont équipés de chauffe lit. Nous serions bien restés quelques nuits de plus.

Only learning of the electricity issues on arrival. Did not see the off the grid notice on your website when making the booking. No warning about the bad road conditions Your website stated that we will be 22km from Cathedral Peak. That is incorrect it was 53km

The cottage is comfortable and homely with absolutely breathtaking views. We had a wonderful few days exploring the surrounding area but some of the best moments were simply relaxing on the terrace and taking in the scenery. The communication with Vicky was prompt and excellent. We look forward to visiting again.

Peace and tranquility

The view is about the best we have seen in the Cathkin area, Peaceful, super quiet with an amazing view of the valley and mountain. Shepherd Farm is private, extremely clean, well maintained and the layout was well thought out. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything we required. Fresh soft towels and bedding. Comfortable beds. It was easy getting to the accommodation. Vicky is a super host, we had a warm welcome and made to feel like we were at home. We spent hours up until late parts of the evening sitting on the deck taking in the special view.

Wonderful peaceful rural location with a great view. Clean, well-furnished and tastefully decorated house, and the owners exceptionally helpful and welcoming.

As advised before booking, the property is off-grid, and power goes off at 11pm. Not a big problem, but bigger storage to keep the fridge and the odd light running would be nice.

Unstable power supply. Couldn't even really use the microwave oven. Goes off at around 11 pm till 7:30am

If you ever imagined living on the side of a mountain overlooking the valley towards the mountains, peaceful rolling mountains, gentle sound of the cow bells and silence ... then Shepherd Lodge will exceed your dream. Vicky is a call away, helpful and a great hostess. I wish we had stayed longer than the three nights. There is so much to do in the area. Do not bring food, a few km from the Cottage is Hillbillies who sell local produce, there is a cheese shop and bakery.

The location and views are quite stunning! Vicky and Tim gave us a super warm welcome and went the extra mile to make our stay very comfortable. We really were sorry to leave and will definitely visit again!

Absolutely beautiful place and lots of attention to detail. Spotlessly clean and really comfortable. The view was spectacular! Host was friendly and helpful. Well worth staying there!

Wifi and TV not working but no fault of the host as there was a big storm the night before we arrived. They tried to fix it without success. Path up and down from the house will give you good exercise with luggage but hosts were willing to help. Road short but managable if taken slowly.

The cottage is in a really beautiful location, with breathtaking views. It is really well maintained and a peaceful breakaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. It really has everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is a nice lodge with an amazing restaurant next door - pizza and cocktails come highly recommended.

The roads are a bit difficult, but the host warns about this ahead of time. Otherwise, nothing negative to remark about.

We really enjoyed staying at Shepherd Farm in the middle of nature in the country side with the most amazing views, and lot of thanks to the very welcoming hosts and for Tim to let us join for a full day hike with his friends. We will come back, until next time!

Absolutely beautiful views. Neat and comfortable stay. Stunning log cabin experience.

Unfortunately, the roads leading up to Shepherd Farm are proudly South African. However, I drive a Suzuki Swift, and I managed. Just drive slowly and carefully.

The cabin was really spacious and comfortable with stunning views of the mountains and the valley below. The balcony/deck is a great place to sit and enjoy the views for hours. We also enjoyed how peaceful and quiet it was. Vicky was also a great hostess and met us personally when we arrived.

The last few kilometres of road leading up to the farm are in very poor condition. We did manage it in a normal hatchback (not a 4x4) but it was slow-going. It would definitely be a challenge in the rain. Sadly the oven and microwave weren't working during our stay.

The location is magnificent. Views are heavenly.

We wanted to sit out a few days of rain during our trip to the Drakensberg. Turned out Shepherd Farm was the best location for that. Really cosy place. When it turned cold, the more than welcoming hosts immediately provided a gas heater for us, which kept us warm. Definitely recommend.

the apartment was amazing, the view is breathtaking, very private and very quiet, Vicky was a great host and amazing person, we had a 1 month trip, and from all the places we stayed this was our favourite, very recomended!

The Bells were lovely hosts. The views from the cottage were absolutely breathtaking, and it was a very homely stay. We had the best break. Thank you Vicky for the most amazing stay!

That our trip was so short!

The view was stunning! Beautiful home and everything you needed was available, all the comfort from home.

The road to the venue was a bit challenging but worth it.

The access roads are quire difficult to drive on but the property itself is wonderful. The cottage is beautifully situated and very well equipped and comfortable.

Oven was not working owing to sporadic electricity supply

Stunning cottage, perfectly located, giving you the most amazing views from all the rooms. The property is secluded, peaceful and private. The kitchen is well equipped to cater to all your needs. Vicky is an attentive and friendly host.

Location and views! Balcony is amazing.

Small issue - mattresses were a little uncomfortable.

Very luxuriously appointed with more appliances and utensils you will need. Very quiet with no traffic and people. Had some of my best sleeps ever. The Wi-Fi was good enough for me to get some work done and watch YouTube. Electricity is supplied off-grid from 7am to 11 pm. No loadshedding like the rest of the Republic. The view is excellent and with the change in weather you keep on seeing new scenes. The Wild Dagga flowers next to the house attracts a lot of sugar birds which makes for amazing photo opportunities. There are some great hiking paths on the hill and even down to the dam which makes for a good day out.

The road to the property is very rough. But it is doable by normal car.

The uninterrupted view of the berg with its gorgeous sunset and beautiful sunrise were definitely the favorite. But coupled with the spotless and, comfortable accommodation, together with the quietness of the surrounds made this destination a truly peaceful and delightful getaway.

The location is absolutely stunning and you can simply sit on the porch and watch the clouds changing over the mountains for ever. There are also several bakeries, restaurants, breweries and more within less than a 30 minute drive.

This property is amazing, has everything you need to be very comfortable, has views that people dream about, in fact paint about! If you ever just want to see the magnificance of our world, this is where you need to go. A great place for family time, reflection and peace. The hosts are caring, maintain their property to the highest standards and are willing to assist in any way that they can. We will definitely return.

Nothing from the host or property perspective, the road to the property is quite bad, but its a small trade off for the location.
