We had a wonderful stay. The room was spotless, the food was exceptional, and the breathtaking view from our room looked like a painting. A special thank you to Maduranga, who went above and beyond to help us and make our stay even more enjoyable.

It is a well designed room with lovely view of the hills around it .

If you are someone who just like schilling indoors and staying in the room it’s ok but it severely restricts you. It’s 20/30 min away from town . Your Ar doesn’t fully go to the property and though the property has a pick up and drop facility from the main road the 10 min ride with their pick up is not on very good roads .

De locatie is ronduit schitterend: het uitzicht vanuit het huisje, vanaf het zwembad of vanop het terras van het restaurant is de grote troef van dit hotel. Onthaal is zeer hartelijk, het personeel doet alles om je een fantastische ervaring te bezorgen. Het huisje is ruim en heel gezellig en comfortabel ingericht. Uitstekend bed. Ontbijt en avondmaal is eveneens lekker en verzorgd. Majentra ligt op 30 min rijden van het levendige centrum van Ella. Hier hou je best rekening mee, zeker omdat het laatste stuk weg erg 'bumpy' is. De weg wordt wel heraangelegd, dus binnen enkele maanden is dit euvel voorbij.

The place was peaceful and the service exceptional. The staff was welcoming and attentive. Maduranga went out of his way to arrange vegetarian food for us and show us the many trees on the property - mango, cacao, avocado, cinnamon, and more!

The hotel is situated on the side of a mountain, secluded from anywhere else and felt like it was very luxurious and deep in the jungle. The service was excellent. There are very few cabanas, so our dining experience felt very personal and of a exceptional high standard.

Zeer mooie lokatie, prachtig uitzicht waar je niet op uitgekeken raakt! Comfortabel, mooi huisje! We hebben er ook heerlijk gegeten! Speciale dank aan de hulp en gastvrijheid van Maduranga!

Het enige minpunt is dat het wat ver van Ella ligt. De weg is onder constructie en wordt breder gemaakt. Uiteindelijk zal dit een verbetering zijn.

The accommodation was very nice with a great view. The service was really good. Everybody was very friendly and always helpful. Kabindu helped us organize our day trips. He was always there for us with any requests. The breakfast was really delicious with a lot of choices and options.

The accommodation was not well maintained. One of the balcony doors wasn't working. Not all lights were working. The vanity mirror and bathroom fixtures were not fixed properly.

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt im Majentra Ella. Die Unterkunft bietet eine atemberaubende Aussicht, die jede Anfahrt mehr als wettmacht. Auch wenn man ein paar Minuten Fahrt in Kauf nehmen muss, lohnt es sich auf jeden Fall. Die Ruhe und der Ausblick sind einfach einmalig. Besonders bedanken möchten wir uns bei Kavindu, der genau wie alle anderen Teammitglieder unglaublich herzlich, freundlich und hilfsbereit war. Der Shuttle Service zur Hauptstraße war ein toller Service und hat den Aufenthalt noch angenehmer gemacht. Das Essen war lecker und frisch zubereitet und wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt. Auch die Lage ist ideal, um die wunderschöne Gegend rund um Ella zu erkunden. Ella selbst ist eine charmante Stadt mit vielen gemütlichen Restaurants und einer schönen abendlichen Atmosphäre. Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

The staff were phenomenal - Isuru and Kabindu were so lovely. The view was amazing. Great pool facilities. Food at restaurant was wonderful.

There is a windy road into the accommodation that is under construction, therefore causing major delays (20 mins). The hotel was very accomodating when needing to drive us to and from the main road, however it definitely is something to consider if you are wanting to travel into the Ella main town each day (50 min journey).

The treehouse style accommodations were absolutely beautiful, with gorgeous views over the hills in Ella. The staff were superb, with a special shoutout to Kavindu and team who couldn’t do enough for us. Thank you for giving us such a memorable stay

The property is beautiful, with a lovely restaurant, pool and rooms. The only thing to note is that the location is up in the hills in Ella, and requires a shuttle to meet your driver at the end of the road. Saying this, they were always on hand to meet us at any time, so this did not cause any problems at all!

It is such a beautiful setting and the view is amazing. It exceeded our expectations. Food was delicious and the staff very helpful and attentive. We especially appreciated the help from Maduranga. We loved the cinnamon making experience and all the helpful information the staff gave us. 10/10 stay! Isiru was a very helpful staff member also - drove us around and very informative.

Beds upstairs with steep stairs for kids would benefit from a safety gate and a fan or additional air con unit.

The food and staff were outstanding. We had the food included option for dinner and breakfast and there was a lot.

Could have had more pillow selection and pool solar heated. Road was being repaired so there are delays.

Beautiful place, lovely staff. The morning view is just beautiful to have breakfast. Manager very understanding when we reduced our stay.

With the current roadworks it is just too difficult to get to. We’d planned for 3 nights, but after they picked us up from the road in a little van and drove down a borderline dangerous ‘alternate route’ for 30 minutes (due roadworks closing the main route) I decided it just wasn’t safe, and because we would have to do that every time we wanted to go anywhere it would be terrible. Turns out they did have a 4x4 but it was being used. The road is NOT safe for a normal 2WD minibus! If you’re staying there for a few days then fine (although there’s not much to do and your so close to Ella (physically) I don’t know why you would - although it is remote and peaceful. We cancelled 2 nights and only stayed one (after I spoke with the Manager on the phone he was very understanding).

“Stunning views” is a phrase often overused in property listings but, wow, Majentra Ella genuinely has the most spectacular outlook across the valley and high mountains beyond. It’s a place to relax, power-down and pause - and wherever you look the views are there. The accommodation is very comfortable (we were a family group of 4 in a private chalet) and very attractively designed. The shared swimming pool is a sublime spot and a good size with lovely planting; the restaurant offers really tasty and well-prepared dishes with many great Sri Lankan options. All staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating without being too fussy with a special shout out to Kavindu who was continuously gracious, positive and lovely to guests.

It’s the greatest spot and suited our adult family well but its mountain location and its positioning on a hillside means you need to be comfortable with steps to get around the hotel. Currently it’s slightly harder to reach as the access road is under construction but don’t let that put you off as completion is imminent and lots of vehicles are already using it.

We spent two nights at Majentra Ella. Had we known how wonderful both the hotel and the town were, we would have stayed longer. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality that immediately made us feel at home — the kind of welcome that sets the tone for an entire stay and leaves a lasting impression. We would like to especially thank Ranjih, who was always very attentive to our wellbeing and consistently warm and friendly. We would also like to thank the chef, who gave us a wonderful cooking class with an equally breathtaking view. The food is outstanding. While we had enjoyed Sri Lankan cuisine throughout our trip before reaching Ella, the hotel’s kitchen stands out as particularly exceptional. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us at every turn — our room was ready early upon arrival, and they were kind enough to arrange a tuk-tuk for the day, making our exploration of the area so much easier. Nothing ever seemed too much to ask. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to enjoy a pleasant stay in Ella. The setting is beautiful and the staff are excellent. Thank you again!

This was our favourite accommodation during our 10 day trip around Sri Lanka - absolutely beautiful villas with stunning views. Kavindu was excellent at front of house - friendly, professional and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome - we really appreciated it. I cannot rave enough about the views - from the villas, the restaurant and the pool - they were really amazing. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and both were delicious. It is a little drive out of Ella town but worth it for this place!

Nous avons adoré notre expérience au Majentra Ella. La vue est impressionnante sur les montagnes et les petites cabanes sont super. Un vrai havre de paix assez intimiste proche d'Ella. La nourriture est très bonne, je vous recommande vivement le Sri Lankan Rice and Curry. Le personnel est également aux petits soins, merci á Kavinchu pour ses allers retours. Service de Laundy sur place. Venez sans hésiter!

The location, the road is very offload. Hard to find transport in and out. Most tuk tuks have an issue with the road. Forget uber they will not come.

Beautiful property, swimming pool with amazing views and the food was the best we’ve had!! Kavindu was amazing, dropping us off at a meeting point at 2:30am in the morning so we could go to Yala :)

Location is hard to reach and they are reconstructing the road so we had to take an even bumpier route but got to see local village and tea plantations so was worth the detour!

The rooms are gorgeous, there is a swimming pool, and the food was delicious! Also the staff are super helpful and friendly and will be as accommodating as possible :)

It’s situated quite far from Ella, down a bumpy track that our drivers car wouldn’t fit down so the hotel had to pick us up from the 7th mile post every time. Also the road is being reconstructed so we had to go an even more windy way which took total about 50 mins from Ella (30 mins car/ 20 mins hotel car)

Authentic, in the hills, away from city sounds and tourists. Locked with nature.

Access to property is through Majentra road, which was under construction in May 2026. Even the SUV by resort had to take secondary (even more bumpy ride). Tuk tuk was arranged only by Majentra staff, our Tuk tuk request on Uber was getting repeated cancelled.

Clearly overpriced on top of being expensive for what it has to offer. We weee a family of 7 PAX they dropped us after a 2km road trip which was under repair in a van with 6 seats !!! When I asked why we don’t take 2 separate cards the answer was ironically funny : “let’s see if you can fit!” They made us seat 7 PAX in a 6 persons car.

Location. Private. Our Villa had the most beautiful view and was nicely furnished. The pool and gardens were beautiful.

This was a highlight of our stay in Sri Lanka and one of our favourite places we stayed. The views from here are amazing, unrivalled from anywhere else we visited. A bit of luxury and exclusivity that we were ready for, it’s very peaceful and the staff were wonderful. Especially Dilukshan who was very friendly and did everything he could to ensure our stay was fantastic. Would definitely recommend the cinnamon experience, very interesting and fun. Food was delicious.

This isn’t a criticism but it does feel expensive compared with other places and food but I can understand why, it feels very exclusive.

The best views in Ella! Really was exceptional sat on the balcony or having dinner in the restaurant. Staff were amazing and attentive. Nothing was too much bother. Lovely pool and we had a wonderful stay for our honeymoon.

The only thing that was a little annoying which is totally out of the hotels control was that the hotel was down a very bumpy lane off the main road that a lot of tuk tuks were not as keen to go down or would charge a bit more. The hotel were great and pick you up in a shuttle van and drop you to the main road but it was a little more inconvenient. Not really too much of a problem for us .

Thank you to all the fantastic staff at majentra! Everyone was so attentive and always went above and beyond to ensure we had a magical stay. A special mention to Dilukshan who made our experience even more special, the chefs are phenomenal and the food was a huge highlight. The cooking class and cinnamon experience is a must! We absolutely loved it. The place itself is stunning, very secluded away from Ella town but worth the extra travel to get there in every way. We left so happy. We can’t wait to come back.

The view makes your entire trip. It’s the hotel we will remember the most from our entire trip. Beautiful view and rooms. Staff were extremely well mannered and took care of every need. Despite the bad road for the hotel, the staff help you out on this and offer pickups at any time, so we did not mind.

For the price paid, the cleanliness was not perfect, especially in the bathroom. The water in the tub was yellow, dust in the bathroom, and small things like toothpaste splatter and unclean areas. The pool ladder was very wobbly too. WiFi did not work in our room probably because of how secluded the hotel is - but once again for the price paid, this should be solved.

Venus en amoureux le lieu est parfait pour des vacances intimistes. Il n’y a que 6 hébergements, la vue est à couper le souffle et rien aux alentours. Le bruit des animaux de la forêt, la gentillesse incroyable du personnel qui a pris soin de nous. Diluksan a été très attentionné, le reste de l’équipe également. Chaque moment était une occasion de nous faire plaisir pour que l’on se sente bien ! La literie est top et les chambres sont sublimes. Nous étions dans un rêve …

Nous avons tout aimé ! À noter qu’en mars 2026 la route pour venir à l’hôtel est toujours un peu sinistrée et qu’il faut penser à prévenir l’hôtel de votre arrivée 30 min avant pour qu’ils envoient un véhicule adapté vous récupérer. Il faut compter 15 min depuis la route principale hors travaux. L’hôtel est lui a 15 min depuis Ella donc si vous voulez sortir le soir c’est plus difficile. Le restaurant est top on mange très bien mais les prix plus élevés que les restaurants locaux en ville.

A lot actually. This was the second highest paid location we booked in Sri Lanka, more expensive than some 5,4 star hotels in the country. However, it was very disappointing to see the poor quality of maintenance and overall cleanliness. Swimming pool had a ladder that was hazardous. Bathroom flooded after one person took a shower, we had to use all the towels to stop the water flowing in to the room. Aircon was also dripping for few hours when we came in, but it was fixed after few hours. Even though rooms seem to be sealed, bugs come in at the night, probably through the bathroom. Food was fine, and staff were overall very friendly and tried to accommodate.

Ein Traum mitten im Jungel! Absolut ruhige Lage, abseits vom Trubel in Ella. Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Essen ist absolut toll, sowohl Abendessen als auch das sehr reichhaltige Frühstück. Der Koch fragt immer persönlich nach ob alles passt und geht auf alle Wünsche ein. Der Bungalow ist perfekt ausgestattet. Der Pool liegt mitten im Urwald! Es war ein perfekter, leider zu kurzer Aufenthalt. Wir werden wiederkommen!

Für uns kein Problem aber als Hinweis: es gibt viele Stufen;)

Das Essen war gut, erreicht jedoch bei dem Preis den man für die Unterkunft bezahlt nicht das dann eigentlich zu erwartende Niveau. Die Auswahl ist zwar sehr gut aber es ist eben keine Topqualität. Dies hängt sicher auch mit der schlechten Zugänglichkeit des Hotels und der geringen Anzahl von Betten (ca. 15-20) zusammen. Wie gesagt, es war gut zubereitet aber für den Preis hätte ich etwas mehr erwartet.

Цены в ресторане отеля высокие, а так как вокруг нет магазинов и ресторанов у вас не будет выбора. Лучше включайте питание сразу при бронировании - это дешевле. Утром перестал работать бачок унитаза. Парень, сотрудник отеля, старался говорить по английски быстро и с учетом акцента не всегда было понятно его. Очень плохой нестабильный WiFi , также у нас возникли вопросы к прозрачности воды в бассейне. Она была голубая, но не прозрачная. Написали об этом в администрацию и в итоге нам очень долго поясняли, что WiFi у всех работает, кроме нас. А цвет воды в бассейне такой потому что это природная вода и она на самом деле чистая. Объяснения были слишком назойливы. Дорога до отеля разбита. Такси туда не приедет. Отель делает трансфер до нормальной дороги. Но и там ничего нет. Как итог: очень инстаграмный отель, также подойдет тем кто хочет тишины. Если нужны увеселения и инфраструктура то это не ваш вариант.

The hotel offers a magical view with a very relaxing and calm atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, especially Dilukshan who made our stay even more pleasant.

Wow this accommodation was beautiful in every way. The rooms were perfectly appointed - mini fridge, comfy bed, great a/c, large bathroom with all amenities and more. Pretty much everything you would expect from a high end hotel without the ridiculous price. The view from reception, our room balcony, breakfast, pool - all stunning! Could've easily stayed here for longer. The Sri Lankan breakfast was amazing - and huge! And of course, all the staff were great.

The road leading to the hotel is next level off-roading. It's no wonder they come and pick you up from the bottom of the hill. It's about a 10 minute journey.

Le tarif est largement justifié par la qualité des hébergements et des prestations de toute l’équipe. Les chambres sont des lodges individuels avec terrasse perchés au dessus d’une vallée splendide, la vue est à couper le souffle, quel plaisir le matin au réveil… la piscine est magnifique également. le petit déjeuner était somptueux, beaucoup de choix tout était délicieux. Nous avons dîné 2 soirs au restaurant de l’hôtel (n’hésitez pas à prendre la formule demi pension car l’hôtel est perdu dans la nature, peu d’options de restauration à proximité) c’était délicieux également. Nous avons été extrêmement bien accueilli par le staff notamment par Dilukshan qui a été un hôte parfait. Dilukshan et Jayarathna nous ont accompagné pour la « cinammon expérience » qui fut un autre excellent moment: on a pu apprendre et réaliser nous mêmes nos bâtons de cannelle le tout dans le cadre du beau jardin de l’hôtel. Je n’ai vu nulle part ailleurs cette expérience et franchement ça vaut le coup. Enfin nous avons du faire face à un événement médical imprévu et tout le staff a été très aidant, ils ont contacté directement le médecin et nous ont aidé au mieux à gérer la situation, même après notre départ ils ont pris soin de prendre de nos nouvelles. Nous sommes très touchés et reconnaissants, merci pour ces beaux moments, Sophie et sa famille

De ligging is ongekend. Je hebt een wijds uitzicht en ligt midden in de fantastische natuur. Het complex is kleinschalig en is daardoor rustig. Daarnaast is de staf erg vriendelijk en willen ze je erg graag helpen, Dilukshan in het bijzonder.

Om van de weg naar het hotel te komen ben je afhankelijk van de shuttle service. De weg is erg slecht daar en kost ongeveer 10 tot 15 minuten enkele reis. Het eten is opzich prima maar met name het ontbijt is veel van hetzelfde (voornamelijk veel suiker, koolhygdraten, weinig vezels) en dat is jammer. Hoewel de service erg goedbedoeld is komt het soms nog niet helemaal matuur over.

EVERY THING! Incredible views, attentive staff, THE BEST MEALS we had in Sri Lanka. Clean & peaceful stay. We loved it so much, we stayed & extra night. The best part of our honeymoon trip!

Utsikten! Den var verkligen något utöver det vanliga. Rummet var spatiöst. För vår del gjorde det inget att hotellet ligger väldigt remote - det var snarare en del av charmen. Men för den som har som avsikt att åka in till Ella på kvällarna skulle jag starkt rekommendera att bo någon annanstans.

Hotellet är nyrenoverat - men mycket har redan börjat gå sönder. Det känns som en taskigt genomförd renovering där man tagit genvägar. Personalen är oerfaren och engelskan är sisådär. Vi fick NOLL information vid incheckningen. Bara ett hej och välkommen och sen blev vi hänvisade till rummet. Att berätta om tider för måltider, hur det funkar med städning (som sker först efter man sagt till) etc är grundläggande för en smidig hotellvistelse. Städningen: sker inte om man inte säger till. Vilket vi inte fick information om vid incheckningen eftersom de bara sa hej och välkomna. I badrummet finns en duschvägg skulle behöva en grovrengöring - speciellt nere vid golvet där det bildats beläggningar som såg mycket trist ut. Maten är inte bra. Exempel: beställde en grekisk sallad med fetaost. Fick en sallad med små bitar av något som såg ut som cheddar i. Och matsalen känns som just det - en matsal, inte en restaurang. Det här blir extra trist eftersom man på kvällarna inte med lätthet kan ta sig någon annanstans att äta utan i princip är nödgad att vara kvar på hotellet.

L'endroit est juste magique. La vue sur les collines est vraiment incroyable, nous avons passé un séjour magique. Il n'y a pas beaucoup de chambre donc l'hotel est très calme. Le personnal est au petit oignons, ils étaient tous vraiment très gentils. La chambre était très confortable et spacieuse. Nous avons adoré !!

This is a perfect hotel to spend 2-3 days in touching distance of Ella but having the serenity of the hotel. There is a bit of a drive (10 mins) from main road to the hotel which they are working on improving the road.

Fantastic ‘get away from it all’ location with the best views in the world!! The staff really tried to do everything they could to make us stay memorable.

Bumpy drive up to the hotel, but well worth it and didn’t detract at all from our stay.

The view is unreal! Comfy clean beds! The journey through the tea plantation to get to the hotel is all part of the experience, embrace it! They kept apologising and saying they’re getting a new road as soon as possible but we all actually enjoyed the journey! ( We’re a couple with kids 5 & 8) the hotel staff arrange to meet you at the end of the track and shuttle you back and forth! The shower was hot, yes there’s some ants and the odd mosquito but nothing that bothered anyone! Highly recommend a night or two here, breakfast was also phenomenal and the evening menu has great options! Not a bad word to say! Thanks to Kavindu for looking after us!

Our stay at Majentra was really lovely and as it’s still relatively new I think just needs some fine tuning to make it perfect. The view is probably the most epic I’ve ever seen and we experienced some mad sunsets and sunrises at Majentra. The road to the property is as others have noted is very bumpy but they can shuttle you to and from the main road. I liked seeing the plantations on the way and learning about the surrounding areas. For us it wasn’t an issue as long as you factor in the extra time. The food is very good and in particular the Sri Lankan options were superb - particularly the curries. Majentra is new and building new facilities and the owners seem very keen to ensure guests are given wonderful services and with only four rooms it means it feels really intimate and secluded. Can’t wait to see how the hotel develops! Would recommend for sure!

The coffee could be improved - maybe a proper coffee machine would make a difference. The option to have massages/treatments would be great too as the location is so beautiful and serene.

Las vistas y el entorno del hotel son espectaculares, inmerso en la naturaleza. Estubimos en una cabaña de dos plantas con cama de matrimonio en la planta baja y dos camas en la superior. El baño tenía una jakuzzi con vistas al valle. La comida del hotel fué buenísima, era fin de año y hacían un menú especial de Navidad a los que teníamos media pensión. Estubo todo muy bueno.

El acceso al hotel es un poco accidentado, tienen que recogerte los del hotel en un jeep y llevarte ellos el tramo final de 15 minutos. Las mesitas de noche eran un poco pequeñas.

Beautiful location, very well presented property with excellent food. Staff are very caring and attentive. Special mention to Dilukshan who provided us with a personal service to make our stay even more special. I would highly recommend this hotel. 10/10

Super nice, calm and relaxing hotel. We loved it, especially the view!!!!! Just be aware that it is outside of Ella and you have to go down a stony and steep road with a little bus from the hotel. It was all perfectly organized, just takes a little (around 20mins) to get to Ella!

This hotel has the most unbelievably beautiful view we have ever seen. Every time we saw it we still couldn't believe it. The huts are also beautiful but with a few minor issues. The jacuzzi bath with the view is to die for and the room is decorated well. You can choose between continental, American or Sri Lankan breakfast and after backpacking for a while we opted for the American for a change. We personally enjoyed the breakfast. Fruits, yoghurt, pancakes and then what we would call an English breakfast of bacon, tomato and toast etc. They ask for the day before what time you would like to eat which we liked as it saved us waiting a long time in the morning. Dinner is a set menu if you are half board, salads, soups and then 3 main meals to choose from. We enjoyed the evening meals (but are easily pleased).

Other than the view, we would say this place doesn't have a lot else going for it. Check in is strange - no explanation on where things are, that you can get laundry or have your room cleaned everyday. It wasn't until we checked out that we found out both of these! The pool area isn't very clean, the cushions for the beds haven't been cleaned in a long long time and when we went to use one it was covered in 1000s of ants. We also weren't told we could have water topped in our room daily and no water offered at meals times. You would think half board you would get at least water. Also whoever decided to allow families to stay in the room above the only one double room needs to rethink. We had a family with two small children staying above us (loudest family in history) and we could hear every word they said, kids screaming etc. I think for such a secluded peaceful place this needs to be re-thought. If we allowed it, it could have ruined our trip even though we had to complain multiple times. You have to be early to shower too as there is limited supply of hot water. Every night we had Luke warm baths / showers. Finally, there is one lovely staff member (unsure of his name but he worked in Abu Dhabi and wore all black every day) he was excellent however the rest not so much. If you don't plan on leaving this place then it is maybe worth it but if you do, I wouldn't. You will struggle to get into Ella as taxis and tuk tuks are reluctant to come as far as the hotel

Anfangs waren wir etwas überrascht, die Anfahrt zu Hotel ist doch etwas holprig. Aber wir wurden mit einem perfekten Ausblick und Ruhe belohnt… Es war traumhaft
