Posizione un po' scomoda per raggiungere il centro di Ella. È andata via la luce e l'acqua per un paio di ore la mattina

Las vistas desde la habitación son increíbles. La habitación es espaciosa y cómoda. El desayuno es muy bueno y el trato del personal es muy agradable, aconsejándonos sobre la ruta a Ella Rock e incluso nos preparó un desayuno para llevar ya que cogíamos el tren temprano al día siguiente.

El baño algo justo, necesita una limpieza y reparar la ventana, ya que en una parte no cierra bien y entran bastantes mosquitos. Sabíamos que estaba algo apartado y buscábamos tranquilidad pero conducir por esas carreteras es algo incómodo al estar en lo alto de Ella.

Это очень крутое место! Шикарный вид на горы, красота неописуемая! Огромные номера, все чисто, комфортно! Большая кровать, хорошее постельное белье. Накормили лучшим завтраком за всю нашу поездку по Шри-Ланке (это была шестая остановка) Гостеприимный и отзывчивый хозяин. Мы приехали на один день, а остались на два.

The room was very big with awesome views of the mountains right in front of our balcony. Very relaxing place. You can order food from a very good restaurant with a huge menu.

It’s a bit far from Ella but also a more relaxing place to stay away from the chaos of the town.

A truly wonderful place. A rustic sanctuary in the Ella hills. Highly recommended.

Wish the rooms had AC, although the gentle breeze in Ella (and the fans in all rooms) means that it really isn’t a big problem.

Nice and spatious rooms and place, moscits on all beds, excellent wiev to the green hills, even from the bed, nice and helpfull owner and people around. Good breakfast. Hotel is 20 min driving to Ella.

Bathrooms need a bit care namely tiling. One room (out of our 3 rented) didn't have warm water for 3 days.

Nestled in a sleepy hill village between Ella and Bandarawela, Maridian Hotel is a quiet retreat far away from the usual tourist trail- quite literally in the middle of nowhere. The two towns lie at a fair distance, requiring a tuk-tuk ride, which only adds to the sense of seclusion and charm. The property itself is basic, yet what it lacks in luxury it more than makes up for in natural beauty and serenity. Our room was surprisingly spacious and opened to an L-shaped balcony that offered an uninterrupted view of the mountains. The moment we slid open the balcony doors, we were met with a view that was nothing short of breathtaking- vast, wild mountains stretching endlessly into the horizon, with strong winds and the soothing sounds of nature all around. We spent hours on the beanbags in silence, simply listening to the wind, the occasional bird call, and from a distance- the quiet, almost ghostlike movement of a train on an old bridge. At night, the silence deepened. With no other guests in sight, it felt like we had stepped into a forgotten chapter of a novel. There is a small, open restaurant on-site, dimly lit and surrounded by darkness, except for the soft glow of distant hilltop homes. Dining there, accompanied only by an elderly night guard, felt like something from a dream, the perfect setting to finish an old mystery manuscript or simply reflect in peace. The room had a full glass front wall, letting in soft golden sunlight each morning. Breakfast was simple and hearty, served warmly by the host. I took a walk along the quiet road, passing small shops and smiling locals, genuine and welcoming, unlike many tourist spots. We stayed only two nights, but the peaceful village, the silence, the wind, and the kindness of its people stayed with me. If you’re looking to escape the noise of Ella and slow down for a while, Maridian Hotel is a perfect hidden retreat.

The canopy bed curtains could definitely use some cleaning, as there were cobwebs on top, and we didn't get hot water in the morning — perhaps the geyser takes longer to heat up. The door bolts also need some repair. While these were minor inconveniences for me personally, they may bother others, and a bit more attention to maintenance would greatly improve the overall experience at this otherwise magical place.

I stayed three nights at the Maridian Hotel. The thing I liked the most about the place was the view. Our host, Mr Chaminda,is a great guy, very friendly and helpful and made our stay really great.

I am not a big fan of open showers.

Location was perfect for the nature lovers. View from the room itself amazing 🤩 from the bed you can see the whole mountain range. Also witness the train going through mountains from room balcony. Also can have good breakfast with the Mountain View. I heard peacock sound from far but couldn’t spot any. Owner of the property is very friendly and also supportive.

The place is superb with a nice location

The room was large with amazing views. There is a restaurant that orders in for you, either traditional Sri Lankan food or pizza hut. The breakfast was large and filling. The host was fantastic and always around if you needed him.

I found the mattress hard, but guess that is personal preference.

I had an amazing stay in Bandarawela! The place was clean, cozy, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. What truly stood out was the warm hospitality – the manager was incredibly friendly, always making sure everything was just right. One of the highlights of my stay was the local breakfast – absolutely delicious and full of authentic Sri Lankan flavors. A truly memorable experience, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

The view was nice, the beds comfortable, the room spacious.

Unfortunately, the bathroom really had a mold issue. It smelled in the entire room even after airing. The shower wasn't hot the first day (ask - it was just the electric heater that was off). The restaurant is more like a hostel. The price was affordable, but with the smell we should have rather chosen something different.

The accommodation is situated outside of Ella which was a great choice for us (or those who prefer quiet stays outside touristic places). The rooms are overlooking the valley and the views are just stunning. Breakfasts were Sri lankan and very tasty! The owner was very helpful.

There is a room for improvement in terms of hot water. We had hot water everyday but we had to wait quite long for it to heat up. But it was a very very minor inconvenience and I would definitely recommend staying here!

The value of this place goes far beyond its price. The support from the owner is exceptional, and the meals are absolutely delicious.

Chaminda and his staff were very welcoming. Chaminda was very informative on local sites and services. Maridian Hotel is out of town but we had our own transportation, so this wasn’t a problem. There was also a bus that stopped directly out the front of the property which takes you into Bandarawela and the train station. Breakfast was plentiful, and changed daily. The view is amazing! The train line between Ella and Bandarawela can be seen at a distance.

Amazing place with a fantastic view, very quite, large rooms, comfortable beds and a host who will help with absolutely everything, and finally an incredibly good breakfast and dinners. We spent unforgettable days here with friends.

What a wonderful location. The view from the room is breathtaking. The staff are really friendly and kind. The room is very large and well decorated. The bed is really comfortable too. Breakfast was very nice and generous. We would definitely stay again.

Lovely large bright room with floor to ceiling windows looking out across a valley. Great shower and comfortable bed. The hosts very kind and helpful. Location was good for stages 13 and 14 combined of the pekoe trail. It’s a 15min walk to Heel Oya rail station and from there you can get the early train to the start of stage 13 at Haputale. Stage 14 ends at Makulella and from there it’s a short tuk tuk ride back to the hotel.

The photos do not do this justice. The place is stunning and the views are incredible. The host was so attentive! The breakfast was incredible and I cannot describe the views from the beautiful room. The place is clean, beautiful and safe. We promptly booked two more nights. Highly recommend!

A very helpful host - he was very informative before our arrival, he arranged a transportation to Udawalawe for a very reasonable price for us and he prepared a delicious breakfast. The room itself was clean and nicely arranged - the hotel is quite new. The view from the room and the common area where you eat breakfast is stunning! You can feel like in a paradise. There is an Ella Organic Garden nearby where you can have a tour and see how different types of tea are made. The area is very quiet and lovely, a nice alternative to very touristic Ella centre. To get there from a train, the best option is to get out at Heel Oya station.

Stunning view, very good breakfast and the staff is the best! Got helped with everything even laundry and booking acitivites he fixed everything and had so funny nights here!!

Nice and comfortable rooms with a great view, quiet and exclusive (only 5 rooms) location approximately 25 minutes from Ella, very good breakfast, super friendly host that introduced us to his friends and gave us a lot of feedback on what to do, had two wonderful evenings, if you are looking for a deep dive into Sri Lankan culture you are at the right place here

This has been one of our absolute favorite stays in Sri Lanka. The view was beautiful of the mountains and you can see the train go by. The owner was fantastic, made us the most delicious breakfast and on checkout day we had to leave early and he even sent us a yummy to go breakfast. He was so kind and helpful and even helped us order food delivery the one night we felt too lazy to go back out. Highly recommend!

The view from hotel is mind blowing.the host is true gentleman and he was responding over messages before arrival for everything. He arranged driver accommodation also in minimal cost. The host was very nice! He could arrange everything that we wanted. Really clean and nice big room. Very tasy and big breakfast, if you would like to come to Elle I really recommend just staying here. You can even rent a scooter 🛵 with good price.

We didn't have electricity but it wasn't a host problem. This issue was in the whole area.

The room was very big and spacious. One wall was made entirely out of glass, so the views from the entire room were spectacular. Big, traditional breakfast any time you want. Very helpful and kind host helped us with renting a bike and a driver.

Maridian hotel location was excellent. Rooms were facing the valley and view was mesmerizing. Property owner was friendly. He had big kitchen and allowed us to cook our food. Breakfast was good.

"Great experience" I stayed at Maridian for a day, really enjoyed its located at peaceful place and the proprietor and staff was very helpful, breakfast really delicious, and the room is nice. I recommend this hotel for ella visitors.

When you are sorry you left the place... When you feel you could have stayed more When you make new friends When you sleep until late..and it is ok When you eat good, find smiles all around you..... That is the place I want to go back!

The Villa is very secluded, in a beautiful quite place with stunning view, no noise, only sounds of nature. The host is amazing, he does his best for you to enjoy your holidays. Very helpful and caring! He would arrange a taxi, fix anything if needed, welcome for breakfast. To Ella it takes 15 min by Tuk tuk.

The place is very basic. From bathroom accessories there are only a soap and one towel. Was much needed to have a foot towel. No AC, but a fan. It was enough tho! No restaurants or stores around, but you can cook by yourself or even order some deliveries. Or eat in Ella. And the cleaning could be better. Although for Sri Lanka standards it was clean 😁

we loved it here!! Very pleasant accommodation outside the center with a beautiful view of nature directly from the room's terrace. room spacious and clean. We really appreciated the pleasant temperature for staying in this accommodation in the mountains in the evening. And above all, the owner is a great person, when I mentioned that I would like to buy some fruit for dinner and breakfast, we went to town on his scooter to do some shopping and I prepared in his kitchen like at home. I highly recommend staying!! Take care 🤙🤩

Felt good. Felt rested. Felt secure and above all...relaxed. I am happy to have found this place. TO see how the owner want to keep improving and making better decisions for the future. With some little changes, this place will be definitely a top choice in Sri Lanka. It is already the best place I have been around the country. Chamindha and his team seem to have a very bright and good future. I suggest tou go and see for yourself. Wi fi is a problem. But they will fix it. I really cannot find something I did not like to be honest. The dogs around the property....? no! I slept better here that any other place in Sri Lanka!!!!

The view from the room is really so unique and refresh everyday , the breakfast is so delicious , perfect breakfast, we could use the kitchen of the hôtel to cook our food , so nice and healthy environnement. Mr Chaminda (owner of the hôtel) he is à great man and always available for everything , he is the most strong point of this hôtel, we will come back again, is highly recommanded and high quality of price , we liked everything.

Really calm and peacefull place. Beatifull view over the valley and very safe, there is alway someone of the staff around. Also, the owner is really nice and very hostile. He will help you with everything he can. From sightseeing tips, restaurants, tuktuk and taxi drivers to your groceries. He even took me to the big supermarkt in the town with his scooter.

Basic hotel stuffs like kettle, tea/coffee, sugar weren't provided. Though if you ask for tea or coffee they will provide it for free. But I would prefer to have them in the room

clean, spacious, astonishing views, really good and huge space and very calm It is about seven km away from Ella city center with one bus going there every hour (TukTuk is about 1.000 Rps per Ride)- so concider this if you plan to explore Ella and the rocks and waterfalls from the accomodation

The host is marvelous! We arrived on the broken scooter late in the evening. The host found for us a mechanic who fixed the scooter quickly and for reasonable price. Very very good and nice man!!! Chaminda, if you are reading this, thank you very much! We enjoyed the stay and we would love to come here again. The place is quiet and calm, the view is nice, on scooter it is very close to Ella. There are several small fruit stores nearby. The room is big, there is fan, no conditioner but it was not needed. The hotel has lovely territory and place outside with kitchen with nice view where we had breakfast and dinner.

I like the location mainly because its far from crowded part of Ella. You can enjoy the sound of nature with some options for hiking.

They have ample of parking space but to go there its a bit difficult when its raining.

Their balcony view was very awesome especially night view very romantic. Owner also very kind heart person very friendly with us.

Since I am not a fan of busy tourist places, the Maridian was the perfect place for me. It's worth the time to travel here, the view is spectacular. If I had more days to spend I would 100% have stayed longer.
