Finch Tangalle

Nice pool area. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast options.

Small thing - we had no warm water in the shower

Staff very friendly

A small path leading a way from the busy coastal road will bring you to this lovely secluded hotel near Tangalle. It is cozy, small-scale, and intimate. You wake up in the morning with monkeys foraging in the trees around the compound. So many birds and insects can be heard. But within a few minutes you are in the middle of Tangalle with all the facilities you need. Great location!

We visited in the off-season, which did mean that some things were not available. At some point, however, they started to run out of bottles of water, which was a little less than optimal. Otherwise, no complaints at all.

Eigenlijk helemaal niets! We zouden zo terug komen!

Exceptional stay – one of the best in Tangalle

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Finch in Tangalle. From the moment we arrived, everything felt calm, stylish, and thoughtfully put together. The property itself is beautifully designed – modern but still very much in harmony with the natural surroundings, which made it feel like a real escape. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and extremely comfortable. The bed was excellent, air conditioning worked perfectly, and the attention to detail (from linens to lighting) really stood out. You can tell a lot of care has gone into creating a high-quality experience. What really made the stay special was the service. The staff were genuinely warm, attentive without being intrusive, and always happy to help with anything – whether it was arranging transport, giving local tips, or just making sure we were comfortable. The location is also ideal – peaceful and tucked away, yet still close enough to explore Tangalle’s beaches and restaurants easily. It felt private and relaxing, which is exactly what we were looking for. Overall, Finch exceeded expectations in every way. If you’re looking for a stylish, quiet, and well-run place to stay in Tangalle, this is it. We would absolutely come back.

The place was super quiet, clean and everything worked out great. It is super close to Red Beach which was one of the best beaches we've visited. A big plus to washing machine which was offered to use!

Staff is really friendly, they let us rent a scooter for a reasonable price.

They didn't have a mosquito net, maybe nice to have :)

The hotel is nestled in a peaceful, natural setting, surrounded by an abundance of wildlife. We spotted monkeys, butterflies, and a wide variety of birds throughout the day, which added to the charm of the environment. The rooms were spacious and thoughtfully laid out, featuring a separate living room, an outdoor kitchen, and an open-air bathroom. The swimming pool, located in the heart of a green garden, was both inviting and relaxing. The staff were friendly and attentive, and although we didn’t try the breakfast due to early plans, it looked fresh and well-prepared.

The only downside to our stay was a leakage in the bathroom, which left the floor consistently wet. Given that the bathroom was located outside, it wasn't a major inconvenience, but it did suggest some overdue maintenance that could easily be addressed. Otherwise, our stay was pleasant and enjoyable.

Sehr geräumig mit allem was man benötigt. Auch Waschmaschine vorhanden

Nichts

Spotlessly clean room, lovely pool area, superb helpful staff.

Nothing.

Beautiful setting, lovely owners very well kept and excellent breakfast

Clean, large room next to a pleasant pool. Walking distance to the beach. Friendly staff. Laundry possible. Smal fridge in the room. Good aircon.

Location is a bit away from the centre and in low season a lot of things in the neighbourhood were closed. We would have chosen a different location in low season in retrospect. No fault of the hotel of course!

It was off season when we came in but we enjoyed our stay. So much so that we have the whole place to ourselves.

Giant en clean room Friendly host Peacefull location

No safe storage room to leave your luggage after checkout.

- Big rooms and comfy bed - Nice relaxing setting - Very good value for money

- It’s down quite a long path. At I’m sure irs safe but my partner and I felt uncomfortable walking to town - had to pay in cash which wasn’t made clear

We had such a great time. The hotel is very calm and clean. The pool is nice and there is everything you need and more. The breakfast was good! But the best was the sweet Sanjeewa who was ready to help with everything. He helped us with scooter, transport, breakfast and was always ready for a talk. Thank you for a really nice stay. We will recommend it to everyone!

It was a very good hotel, with a great location, I recommend it to anyone who wants peace and quiet. With excellent staff, Sanjeewa is very attentive and warm, takes care of everything at the highest level,

Very roomy. Lovely pool. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Nothing to say.

We had a fantastic stay in Finch Tangalle. One of the nicest places we stayed in our Sri Lanka trip! Shenu does everything at the property, he was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed some great chats with him one evening 🙂 - he offered us a delicious welcome drink and a smoothie each day we were there ❤️ The hotel is located just off the roadside so is nice and quiet. The birds you hear here are wonderful. The room itself was huge, it even had a separate living room! Ours also had kitchen facilities should you require them. The pool area was very well maintained and peaceful, a lovely spot for a dip to escape the heat. A really great hotel for the price point, thanks for an excellent stay.

Nothing

Just a perfect place where we truly feel at home, our perfect beautiful home sweet home. We even extended our stay longer than planned! The host and the housekeeper do a discreet outstanding job, making everything just perfect. A big thank you to them!

Just perfect

Room was a great size, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The pool was super clean, and the location was peaceful.

The bathroom was a wet room, and the mats kept on the floor became really smelly. Our only suggestion would be to remove those mats or have something that will allow the water to drain away 😊

This place is simply beautiful, on the outside you have an amazing garden to chill out, inside the rooms are spacious and bright, and have everything you need, everything is perfectly maintained. But what made this place special for us (and for sure the Best place we stayed at in Sri Lanka) is the People who run it, we couldn't have imagined bigger hearts and genuine kindness🌼🌼 It was a pleasure to meet you🌷🌷. Thank you People from Finch we are hoping to see you again❤️❤️

If you are planning to stay in Tangalle this place is suitable. Owner and all staff very helpful. Rooms clean and as described. If you need they can do your laundry for you and rent a scooter. Very good place, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, close to a nice silent beach.

Clean room, nice pool, friendly staff. They also have a scooter to rent. Highlight recommended!

Fabulous stay, spacious villa, well equipped , beautiful pool, 2 min walk to the beach and lots of restaurants. Would definitely stay here again, its a calm oasis, just perfect.

It was clean and fresh. Felt safe inside the territory. Breakfast was more than enough. Towels were perfect, got free coffee. Pool was refreshing.

The internet was a bit slow for using it properly. No hot water. And the path from the main road was dark, did not feel comfortable.

very tasty

nothing

Pool

All good

All was good. Rochan was very helpful and the owner is also very friendly. Quiet place, bit out of centre but great to relax at the pool and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Difficult to leave because it is so nice ☺️

The property is situated in a private area near the Red Beach, just a five-minute walk away. Surrounded by lush green trees and the tranquility of nature, we were delighted to see monkeys, peacocks, and fireflies right on the property. The pool was always clean and the water warm, with plenty of sunbeds available, ensuring it was never crowded. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect, paying extreme attention to every detail. The breakfast was delicious, although it did take a bit of time to prepare.

One minor downside was that only the upstairs villas have a kitchen, but we had no issues using the communal kitchen outside. Additionally, the noisy tourists above us were a bit of a disturbance, but this was not the staff's fault.

The pool was decent, rooms were basic but good size and clean, and the staff were excellent. The location was fine, 3 or 4 restaurants within walking distance. Easy enough to get a tuk tuk when out and about. The kitchen area was good enough for basic cooking and coffee. Loads of wildlife live in the grounds, lizards, frogs, birds and the occasional monkey. Good location for sight seeing.

WiFi is very intermittent. Most of the time it was painful. Not so good if you need to do a little work. Breakfast was so so.

Finch Tangalle was one of our best stays in Sri Lanka. They treated us amazingly, prepared delicious breakfast and gave us nice recommendations. The rooms are very big and comfortable and their pool is the perfect spot to relax🌞 Thank you for being so kind with us🫶🏼

Nothing!!! Everything was great.

We loved it here! Mahesh is so friendly en helpful! He even arranged a birthday cake for my birthday. Every morning he is present and when he is gone you can reach him on WhatsApp. We stayed for 4 night. All the rooms have a fridge what is super handy for drinks and food. Everything was super clean. The pool is very nice! Finch is close to the beach. You can rent a scooter if you like. Thank you for everything!

Amazing place! We loved our stay at Finch, the staff was great and made us feel at home. Everything was spotless clean and very comfortable, amazing pool, and a great location. We would love to come back one day!

The only thing that can be improved is breakfast, it was always the same. For the rest, we loved it

Large space, very friendly hosts, high quality of everything! Definetly the best place in which we stayed in Sri Lanka. Beautiful, empty beaches in close vicinity, wild animals such as monkeys, peacoks and fireflies had made our stay more interesting, especially for our kids. Clean pool was a game changer as well :) Highly recommended!

We stayed in Finch Tangalle for a week and really enjoyed it. Staff is super friendly and helpful with anything you ask - Thank you once again! 😊 Room standard was rather high comparing to other pleces we stayed in during our Sri Lanka trip and the place was really clean with A/C and mosquito net. Guests have access to kitchen to use fridge, cooker and also there's a washing machine. Location was quiet and bit away from city centre, but that's what we wanted on our holiday. You can rent scooter at the place and easily move around, also there are few beautiful beaches nearby. Breakfast was also good, although at times we had to wait a little bit to get that prepared 😉 I overall highly recommend this place when visiting Tangalle region, for a comfy and pleasent stay.

There's not such thing

Amazing stay! Rooms were spacious and clean. The pool area was really nice. Host was friendly and helpful. Good WiFi!

Firrst rate facilities only a couple of hundred rupees to many beaches and the town. The room boy was amazing They even laid on a birthday breakfast for myself and my wife at no chatge.

Nothing to dislike, everything was perfect.

Everything, this is a must stay! Super clean, spacious rooms, lovely pool and amazing staff. 1minute walk from beach & restaurant.

Big and nice room. Clean pool and very nice and helpful staff! Loved it there!

Everything. Warm welcome, spacious room, super clean, nice swimming pool. Excellent restaurant at 2 min walk. Very nice breakfast. Warm atmosphere. I would go back.

Nothing - we loved the place.

Very nice and brand new little place. Owner is extremely nice and helpful. Room is spacious and very clean. Bathroom spotless. Very quiet.Excellent Aircon and fan. Clean and nice pool, nice little common area.

Upon arrival, we had to wait for checking in for half an hour. Room lacks basic amenities such as hangers.

Beautiful property with a great pool.

Super friendly amd helpful host. Room and bathroom were big and clean. The yard is spacious and beautiful as well. Definitely recommended

Nothing

Great people, good food. Tip: ask for a king coconut with breakfast to start your day as good as possible.

The pool was nice and the manager very friendly and helpful.

They sell it as a “villa deluxe” but that’s not a villa. It’s a standard room with 24h wet shower and a balcony, absolutely basic, plus funny insects. Booking.com is overselling that place a lot, so adjust your expectations. Also the property is a bit in the middle of nowhere away from the main street and Tangalle. You always need a tuktuk to get somewhere and if there is some rain the path to the property leads through a big paddle that can give you some wet feet.

The pool was lovely, and the room was a decent size, with the addition of a separate living area with a table and chair that I could work at. The hosts father was very friendly and organised breakfast for us for LK 1200. We appreciated the close proximity to the Red Beach restaurant which we went to many times.

The room's facilities are not as described, and we were not the only guests to complain. There was no wardrobe or kettle. After a day they brought a cupboard with shelves, and a kettle. The adjoining kitchen is very dirty, with hardly any cutlery or crockery, or a knife to chop food with. The fridge was very dirty inside. We only had the room cleaned once in 10 days, and we had to ask for that! There was building work happening onsite through the day, and this turned the already muddy grass area into a cement puddle. The road to get there is very difficult to navigate when it rains, as there are huge puddles and a lot of mud.

Nice new construction, comfortable beds, clean room, close to the nice beach. I like everything was new and not used, good quality of materials, curtains and beds. Kids had fun in the pool. The A/C was working good and was quiet.

So the house is not finished and in the smaller villa there are lot of things missing. No wardrobe, no shelves in the bathroom, no place to put your stuff. The host noted our suggestions so hopefully, it will be fixed for the next customers. What I didn't like was that there was construction and heavy work around the house. I even didn't want to go to the pool because 10 workers staring at me. Didn't feel peaceful at all, very uncomfortable. Also, there is a broken muddy road from the main road to the house. When raining it's a real mission to get out through slippery and sticky mud all the way.

A very lovely and peaceful stay in Tangalle. The family running the business is so kind, helpful and welcoming. Everything was perfect : location (very chill, outside of the city center, right next to 2 beautiful beaches), food (outstanding freshly cooked breakfasts available 🤤), very clean, new and nice rooms + beautiful pool. We definitely recommend to everyone we know for your stay in Tangalle and would be happy to come back one day 🇱🇰 Thank you for everything 🙏🏻, the dad even helped us and waited with us at the bus stop to make sure we get the right one for our following destination, it was very very kind! Bohoma istuti !!

Amazing pool, amazing family, very spacious room

We had a very relaxing stay, just what we need. The owners went above and beyond to cater our needs. Thank you so much!

Super nice apartment/villa that I really recommend to anyone planning to stay at Tangalle. Extraordinary service provided by owners was top of our visit in Sri Lanka. I also liked the location not too far from Silent or Gyokomba beaches. The ability to jump into the very nice pool was cherry on top of the cake.

We had a great stay at Finchs. Everything was spotless and clean, the bed is comfortable and everything is new. The pool is clean and even has a small kids pool.

Little hidden gem! A beautiful place in the beach area of Tangalle. The photos are just as you will experience them. The owners were extremly helpful and kind, wherever you need they will do their best to provide. They can also arrange transport services. Highly recommended, you will upgrade your vacation by a thousand!!

We stayed two nights and it was awesome! So friendly staff and the hole villa is very clean and the pool was amazing. Just a few meters away from the beach! Can only recommend this accommodation to everyone.

The hosts very friendly and helpful
