Meera Homestay & Guest House

Preis-Leistung Top!

It was very spacious, clean and well located

I did not like that the owner tried to touch me and kiss me without consent. This is a warning to all women travelling.

O Anfitrião é super prestável e consegue tudo o que for necessário. A localização é muito boa, 5m do centro a pé.

Really helpful and full of hospitalilty owner. The amount of good advices and tips we have received was incredible. It's really easy to contact the owner on Whatsapp - he will reply within few seconds.

Buena habitación, limpio, bien ubicado y buen desayuno

No alquilar aquí las bicis

La gentillesse du personnel, l'acceuil

The homestay was really good value for money. The beds were really nice, as well as the shower. The linnen we received was really clean too.

The location is a bit out of the city center bit still with a small tuktuk ride you can reach everywhere!

Very good value for money. The host living on site was very friendly and helpful. The food was great and easy to order.

The WiFi was a bit slow on one day and the smell in the bathroom was not very pleasant.

Merci encore

Mohamed was a really good host. He welcomed us like VIP. Good service, good food and good activities (also provided by him). The room and the spaces really really good. Comfy and quiet. Is a mist to stay in this accommodation:)

We were so lucky to randomly meet our host and end up spending two days in our favorite accommodation in all of Sri Lanka, in Anuradhapura. The place is beautiful and cozy, with a large bathroom and delicious food at very fair prices. Our host Mohammed was incredibly welcoming and always ready to help us organize trips and activities at great prices. He had lots of ideas on what to do and made everything very easy for us. Even when I unfortunately got food poisoning, he was a huge help – he personally drove us to an affordable local doctor and took great care of us. We truly felt at home here, enjoyed our stay very much, and are already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommended!

-

Buen precio, buen servicio.

Owners hospitality cozy Location

WiFi (couldn't use almostly)

Cena in casa buona e colazione ricca

The owner is a great man, who is ready and willing to help! Thank you very much for everything

If you’re on the budget it’ll be good and great

Host molto gentile e premuroso.

Mohamad's HomeStay is simple but has everything you need. He was really helpful, taking me to visit everything there was to visit in the surrounding area. The property is clean and is really a 5-minute walk from the central street of the new town. It is also the same distance from the bus station. To top it off, Mohamad is also a super chef! He offers definitely delicious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners! I highly recommend!

It's located close to the city center and bus terminal. Breakfast was a lot and good. I stayed for 2 nights, and the first night, we chatted a bit and watched a cricket game on his TV. A nice, friendly host like written in the other reviews...

On the second night, I had dinner at the homestay. He joined me and the other guest as well. When the other guest went to his room, the host started asking me if im single and if I wanted to date him. I was shocked and said no. He asked me why, cause we didn't know each other yet and I should give it a chance first. Then he continued by asking me how many boyfriends I've had, and I said that I was not going to answer that question cause that was personal. He told me: "You had a lot then, cause otherwise you would just answer." I was in shock and didn't know what to say. He asked me if I wanted to date him, and of course, I replied with no, but he even dared to ask me if he could touch me. I immediately said no with a lot of disgust. He said: "You dont allow me, which is okay, but i can still touch you, of course." Usually, I have a strong opinion, and I say what I think, but I felt super uncomfortable and not safe. I didn't know how he would respond if I got mad or something, so I just nicely helped by clearing the table and went to my room. I even put a wooden chair in front of the door. I hardly slept. The next morning, he pretended like that didn't happen, so I did as well, and after breakfast, I got out there as soon as possible. I went to Trincomalee, but it wasn't over yet.. He was driving two girls to Trincomalee for a day trip, and he was in his car in the main street. He got out of his car when he saw me, called my name, and approached me. He touched me on my arm and back while stroking, for way too long, and I was frozen. The other girls arrived, and I tried to end the conversation and leave as fast as I could. The next day I met the girls on the beach and they said that he was also very touchy with them. When I looked for the "lowest reviews" instead of "most recent," i read many other warnings from people. I wish I had read them before, so please do before you make a reservation.

Short walking distance across train line to bus station, restaurants & supermarkets. Train station 3kms away & note the train to Colombo only runs at 5.40am & 2.40pm and not at 9.15am as appears on the web. Owner able to arrange tuk-tuk transport to Mihintale as well as tour of ancient city sights. Room had fan & optional AC for additional 1200Rps/day which was essential given 35 degree heat. Owner provided cold lemon juice on arrival which was very welcome.

Property looks tired &.needs a coat of paint both inside & out. Furniture could do with an upgrade. Not possible to take an afternoon siesta in the heat due to macaques stampeding on the roof.

Incredible host, lovely breakfast, feeding the monkeys leftovers! The host really goes above and beyond. So helpful

Mohamed is very friendly and helpful. We had a nice and clean room. The homestay is close to the center. The breakfast was good.

Mhoammed was fantastic, he is really lovely. As we arrive he offered us some delicious rice and curry and some papaya juice, he help us to talk with the tuk tuk driver and move around in the city. The position Is excellent and also his food. The breakfast we had was really big and tasty. We also passed one night with his friends and was lovely. The bedroom is big, comfortable and clean. Really recommended! :)

The owner is helpful.

The room has air conditioning, but it is extra charge to use it (4 dollars!). The bathroom smell is not good. No privacy, as you can’t really cover the window and it is see through.

good location

The host was very helpful and a good cook

Super quiet location, big sir lankan breakfast. It's a budget accomodation but does the job. Took room without AC but it's possible to ad it for 1200 rupees extra. Owner asked for my plans and give me some options but in a polite way so I could rest in peace. At arrival got free coconut, free refill of filtered water and on departure free ride to the bus station since he was going to town and took me by chance. I can recommend it.

It’s quiet central and the owner is helping you a lot to plan your trip and tries to fulfill all your wishes.

I wanted to give this accommodation a really good review specially cause the owner is taking so much care of you. But I really had an weird experience with him in the end. He asked me to leave a review when I was leaving, which I had planned to do anyway. But when I didn’t answer his messages on WhatsApp in between a couple of hours he kept texting me, got angry and blocked me in the end. This was really odd and has negatively clouded the initially positive experience with him.

Very cheap. Good enough for one or two nights. Breakfast and dinner was a lot, couldn’t finish it most of the times. Quality was ok. Ten minutes walk to new town with plenty of restaurants and supermarkets. We had a flight delay and had to rearrange dates last minute and he gave us no problem at all.

Wifi wasn’t strong enough. You had to pay extra to use the A/C. We did Mihintale sunset with one of his friends and the next day we did free temples tour. We had the usual “no change” excuse where you are kind of forced to pay the tip. We also arranged the tuk tuk to Sigiriya with them. Told us it takes an hour as they use shortcuts (We knew this wasnt true) and it ended up taking 2h so i had to start working late.

A fuir!!

A fuir!!

Meera homestay is exactly what it advertises. A small no frills homestay which provides a clean and safe stay in Anuradhapura. The location of the homestay is also great, with everything in the city accessible within a short ride.

Nothing

Great place to stay! Good location, very friendly and helpful host. Quiet at night. Recommended!

Lovely place with excellent location, close to the centre of the city but still very quiet. Mohammed, the host, was exceptionally helpful. He also serves amazing food at reasonable prices. In addition, he arranged a couple of great trips for us including an elephant safari at Hurulu eco park and a trip to see the Stupas and the sunset at Mihintale. Our room was very comfortable and had a good bathroom with shower. All in all Meera Homestay is a super place to stay.

Nothing!

It's a very nice place, located near by all the main attractions in Anuradhapura. Host Is very welcoming and open to help you anytime you Need. Higly recommended!

Very big room with fan and option for AC. We had a great breakfast and dinner and we were very happy with it. The homestay is a little far from the center and it’s dark to walk at night. They offer tuk tuk tour of the historical park. It’s pricy (around 15$) and they say you can have a discount on the park ticket if you pay directly to them but truth is nobody ever checks your ticket so you don’t know where your money goes…

Koupelna hezká a čistá.

The place is cheap. The location is close to the bus station which was comfortable. The owner organized for us a good safari in Willpatu. Beers are good price and cold. Warm shower.

We really didn't enjoy the stay. After about a year of travel in south east Asia this was the worst accomodation we had. The owner was extremely pushy with selling more things and services in a very uncomfortable way ignoring our refusal. He made a guy which rents scooters to come to his guesthouse because he assumed we will agree no matter what the price is, but we told him that the price is too much for us. His constant sentence was "it's only XX dollars" while talking about amounts that are more than a good monthly salary in Sri Lanka. The sheets and towels felt dirty and unfortunately a day later we saw them preparing a room for new guests and they didn't change the bed sheets between the guests. The rooms are extremely damp and they smell horrible. We also witnessed a fight with other guests over 1000 rupees in which the owner became really aggressive and made everyone really not comfortable and the 2 female guests just left the place as fast as they could. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Especially not for female travelers.

Chyběla přikrývka, stačilo by prostěradlo.

The location is perfect, very close to the bus station. The room is big and has hot water, a fan, a mosquito net, tea, and coffee. The host offers meals as well.

Went on a tour with the host. The price was good, but he was quite pushy, rushed everything, and was angry if I wanted to have an extra stop, which was on our way. He did make a couple of extra stops, but in the end, got quite angry and started raising his voice at me, which was extremely unpleasant and uncomfortable. Said many mean things to me, and I was in shock. I also noticed that he was rude to other people, shouted twice at one lady on the road, and was angry at someone on the phone. Then he was pushing to write a review in front of him, saying that he didn't know how to write a review on booking.com.

The owner is a very passionate man. And can arrange every thing for your sightseeing.

Maravilloso lugar.

Really good price! Also the host was nice and helped us organizing our plans!

Great place! Kaleel took care of everything for us He arranged a tour of the city, he prepared dinner and he gave us a lot of advices! Absolutely suggested! Thanks Kaleel

My husband and I stayed here for two nights. When we arrived in the evening, Chimara had a meal prepared for us (you get a menu via Whatsapp) which was very delicious. The owner, Mohamed, helped us to decide what to do with our time. He helped us arrange a safari in Wilpattu national Parc. The day after, he arranged a guided tuk tuk tour where you visit all the beautiful temples. He also brought us to our next stay in Sigiriya and even waited for 3 hours when we visited the elephant parc.

There was some humidity you couldn't get rid of. Tip: open the windows when it's daylight.
