Really nice ryokan with private and public onsen. Perfect to relax and unwind in Hakone.
Nothing, just keep in mind that the private onsen can accommodate max two people.
We had a private onsen in the room we booked and it was quiet. Calm.
Nothing really. There was no laundry area to wash clothes but other than that it was great.
Private Onsen in the room, public Onsen, free drink bar, staff was very friendly, rooms are big
When we checked in there was no soap in the room, there was a small stain on one of the blankets too
The food, the staff and our accommodation was so superb!
Nothing it was perfect!
Japanisch, ursprünglich, authentisch , sehr gute Essen,
Teilweise Verständigung etwas schwierig, Matratze hart
We stayed in the pink dream room (108) which was spacious and had a fab onsen set up as we were travelling with kids and were usable to use the public onsen (personal choice- not down to rules!)
Nothing, all fab
Private onsen was lovely Staff very friendly Free drinks were great
Bed was extremely uncomfortable and hard Room was worn down, marks all over the walls etc. breakfast was not nice, we opted out for our second morning. Location was 50 mins bus from Odawara and buses were packed, also another 20 mins then to get to the main Hakone sights, overall ok if you don’t plan on going out much but not convenient otherwise.
Nice private onsen Room are large and comfortable.
The meal is not that good as compare to my previous 2 stays a few years ago.

The private onsen (open air) in our room was delightful. It was clean and comfortable and continuously refilling with perfect temp water. The area was private and quiet. We ordered dinner in for the first night and everything was delicious. The breakfast was outstanding with so many options to choose from. I would love to return someday!
The front area has lovely souvenirs and snacks. It would be nice to have some basic snacks for guests- more than just souvenir-type snacks. The free drink area was nice but the liquors were syrupy sweet.
Stunning views, private hot bath overlooking the mountains
Not a huge amount nearby but not too bad
We stayed for two nights, hoping for a relaxing ryokan experience, and overall the hotel did not disappoint. Having a private onsen in our room was definitely the highlight—it was the perfect way to unwind after a long day of exploring. The kaiseki dining experience was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. We really appreciated the authentic presentation and exceptional quality of each course, and the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our stay.
There are, however, a few areas that could be improved. Dinner was served strictly at 6:00 pm, which felt quite early and limited our ability to enjoy longer day trips. Breakfast was also offered in only three time slots, so a little more flexibility would make the experience even better. It would also be helpful to have an alternative breakfast option for guests who don’t eat fish, such as our daughter. Our room (101) had a noticeable sewage-like smell when we first entered, which wasn’t the best first impression. The sink area could also benefit from brighter lighting, and there was very little space to place our vanity bags and toiletries. While the outdoor shower next to the private onsen was functional, having an indoor shower as well would have been much more convenient.
The private onsen was sooo relaxing. It was great to be able to hop in for 10-15 minutes through tour the evening and morning as I pleased. The dinner was also good for a vegetarian and you could eat in your robe which was fun. I didn’t try the breakfast because they didn’t have any vegetarian alternatives. I only stayed a night and would recommend having your luggage delivered to the hotel from the station so you can explore without having to go to the hotel first. They also had unlimited drinks with dinner and a make your own cocktail bar for free.
It would have been nice to have a vegetarian option for breakfast.

The private onsen was perfect after our hike through the beautiful mountains. We were allowed to check in half an hour early.
La demi pension, très bon repas gastronomique
The private Onsen in the balcony was simply amazing. We enjoyed it so much to spent the evening inside it! The room was very spacious, there was more than enough space for everything. The breakfast was traditionally japanese but very good. The location is a bit outside of Hakone, which we enjoyed. There is a temple and restaurants in walking distance and it is very quiet and relaxing!
The toilet smelled really strong, like it has not been cleaned in weeks. The bed was traditionally japanese, but not very comfortable. There was nothing to hang towels ot toilettries bag. The staff was partly not so friendly, some did not speak good english.
Everything
TV positioning
Personel tres serviable thank you Lynn Nature.confort, onsen, les repas excellents
Rien
private onsen in room and free drink
no plain water
I’m so glad I found this ryokan! It’s super value for money and all the meals were absolutely delicious.
The public bath can get quite crowded since the meal timings are fixed thus everyone will be having their bath around the same time after dinner. Had to wait around to get to use the hair dryer.
Excellent, helpful service by all the staff. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Beautiful room with a very enjoyable private open-air onsen bath.
The breakfast was really cool to experience, also sleeping on futons and having the hot bath in the room
It is all a bit old, there is no lock to the bath that is half outside It would be nice to have a little lamp so the light in the main living room wouldn’t be too bright (otherwise it’s only ceiling lamps)
dinner and breakfast were traditional and good
I felt the public onsen was very small and the hotel is very close to the road and road noise which was surprising. I also expected a garden or grounds to wander around to spend the day at the Ryokan but there weren't any.
The location is beautiful. So is the hotel itself. There's a free beverage bar in the lobby, public onsen with popsicles and a private onsen in the room. Dinner was diverse and interesting, with drinks and sake.
Perhaps this is my opinion as a non Japanese - The futon bed was horrible. I couldn't fall asleep and in the morning my back was stiff. I really would not sleep on such bed again. The breakfast was traditional, which was a bit challenging for me as a foreigner. In the Hakone area there were bomb sounds, when we asked the staff they didnt know what we were talking about. I later on read online that perhaps it is from big army bases in the area. But it was a bit stressing. In the room - The sink and bathroom area felt neglected and I really didnt like using it.
Beautiful location, breakfast was amazing
The property was built within the nature, outdoor private onset was perfect, even in the rain!! Meals were excellent with traditional Japanese dishes for both supper and breakfast. Wearing a Yukata the entire time, was so relaxing!
No where to walk on the property.
The facilities were very generous. The private onsen room was very enjoyable and the free drinks and robes were an added extra. We enjoyed the traditional experience in the Ryokan room.
We arrived at 2:45, only 15 minutes before check in opened to ask if we could drop our bags off. The staff member at the front desk was extremely rude and unfriendly. He didn't even say hello, just shouted "3pm" and when I opened my mouth to say something he just grunted "3pm" again. It was not a friendly welcome and I won't be staying here again because of him.
Parfait! J’ai passé un excellent séjour! La température du bain privative était parfaite. Diner et petit déjeuné très copieux.
Fun to experience the traditional ryokan style hotel. The room was spacious & clean. We loved wearing the kimonos all around and enjoyed both the unique dinner and breakfast!
We did think the room baths were going to be a bit bigger for us to enjoy at once -but we took turns and the hot spring water felt relaxing.
The staff was very friendly and helpful . The in room soaking tubs were great.
Very run down buildings . Stains on the walls and floors. Cracks in the walls. Very uncared for and sad buildings in need of TLC. This could be a lovely place if properly cared for. Pictures are misleading.
Perfect room with private onsen, kind stuff, tasty food
The room was quite spacious, and the beds were fairly comfortable.
The room was large and the beds were reasonably comfortable. However, the property felt neglected and poorly maintained in many details. There were cobwebs around the windows in the private onsen area, and the windows had no mosquito screens, making it difficult to open them without insects flying inside. The stairs leading to the room were very dirty, and the exterior of the building also appeared poorly maintained. The food was not to our taste, although that may simply be because we are not familiar with or particularly fond of this style of cuisine. One of the biggest disappointments was the onsen. The water was chlorinated and artificially heated. If you are looking for a traditional onsen experience, I would recommend checking carefully whether the baths use natural spring water without artificial circulation or heavy treatment. The hotel emphasizes that the water comes from hot springs, but as a guest it is difficult to know exactly how much processing is involved. While the price was not particularly high for a large room with a private onsen, I would personally prefer to pay more for a higher standard. Based on the Booking.com rating, I expected a much better experience and was surprised by the overall level of cleanliness and maintenance. I honestly do not understand how the property achieved such high review scores.
Very peaceful. Incredible Japanese experience.
No answers on booking chat. No possibility of accessing the room even 30mn before checkin or you would have to pay an extra.
Location, facilities, amenities and the cleanliness were splendid! I absolutely loved it as well as the staff was incredibly friendly and polite!
This place was amazing. Such a beautiful spot, surrounded by trees with private onsen and delicious food. The room was very comfortable and clean, we didn't want to leave. Dinner and breakfast were incredible. They were very attentive to our dietary requirements and provided the best service we could've asked for. Thank you so much.
Nothing.
The private onsen is wonderful
Any food aside from what is served is chalenging to find. We traveled with kids, something I would not recommend or repeat, and were sent away at restaurants around the hotel. Our kids are not used to Japanese food and while they and the hotel tried, we needed alternatieves. This ended up being 7-11 snacks but wasnt great.
The food was amazing, the breakfasts were good but the dinners were exceptional, the abalone will be the highlight of my trip to Japan. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the private onsen was of a good size allowing for use by a couple. The public onsen was also great, with both an indoor section and an outdoor section, shower stalls and also an area to blow-dry hair, moisturize etc.
There would be nothing to complain about. I would highly recommend staying here

This place was perfect and we will remember this experience for a long time. Especially our daughter who loved the room with a play area and bunk beds. She didnt want to leave the room. Staff was extremly friendly, warm and welcoming for us and our child. There was a special hunt for stamps around the premises, gatcha at dinner, toys in the room and kids amenities, it made it a lot of extra fun. For us parents it was very peaceful. We liked it was a small facility, it felt almost private. We had the option with breakfast and dinner and both were simply unforgettable. Such a unique experience. I highly recommend it. It’s also well located if you take the Hakone free pass, it’s less than 30 min by bus from Yumoto and on the way to Lake Ashi. Get off at highland hotel bus stop no 244.
Beds and pillows were too hard for our liking but after onsen we slept like babies
The breakfast in the morning was amazing. The in-room onsen was a good size and could easily fit 2 people. The facility location is amazing with good views and close to the bus stop.
Great

Private onsen room and the food
Front desk staff were not as helpful as needed. Eg on what time to be served for breakfast and dinner, no flexibility on arriving for dinner (or maybe it’s that you can arrive later, just that they put the food out at 6pm sharp? No clue haha)
Great food. For such food quality I find the room price very fair
The onsen in the room and is clean.
The staff is not helpful at all, we have booked the room and breakfast with kids but they didn't provide kids meal but we saw other Japanese families has kids meal all set up for them. The room hasn't been cleaned and they just left us bedsheets outside the room and we have to change it ourselves.
Everything
In room onsen is fantastic.
Great location, and a very unique experience. The food was a very traditional meal, we also had a non-fish selection that was also excellent.
The property has free parking and free alcohol for guests. Breakfast was great.
Feels abit dated and the room has abit of an odd smell
The location was exactly what I was looking for when booking Sengokuhara Shinanoki Ichinoyu, but I was still absolutely blown away as I was driving up there into the mountains, it’s surrounded by stunning environments and the stay reflected that tenfold! It really felt like a traditional Japanese stay, I had a room with a private onsen and it was more than delightful to be able to come back after a day of exploring nearby museums and parks to soak in the hot natural waters. The staff here are also incredibly helpful with anything I needed! I also made the mistake of not booking to have dinner or breakfast at the stay which they helped me organise quite short notice as it was just me and I couldn’t have been happier with their service, and the food!! Highly recommend for a retreat away!
