The building and setting were both very nice
We had a problem with our en suite, but the duty manager Tracey was very fair in making it right

Beautiful and tasteful restoration

Insanely good, the design, the furniture the architecture it is all sublime.
I would just be nit picking!
Beautiful location, beautiful views, grounds and lovely decor inside and out, in all areas. Lovely appointed rooms. Reception staff excellent, very professional and helpful, nothing was too much trouble
The bar and restaurant staff were very slow! We ordered drinks on the terrace and it took 35 mins to receive them and they weren’t complicated, 2 beers 1 wine and tonic water! The same was the same for the evening restaurant experience, slow service for both drinks and food.
Great location, lovely room with outdoor seating. Fab gardens. We also hired the private dining room for dinner with 10 friends and everything was excellent
Spa was restricted to 4.30-6.30 which didn't work for us, also £35pp.
The Marquis has beautiful modern facilities. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast and lunch were both of a high standard. John behind the bar was friendly and helpful.
Check in after 4pm and out by 11am is quite restrictive. Staff service was erratic - our waiter at breakfast was having a bad day and confused most of our order. Reception staff were brusque at best. On such a hot day it was very disappointing that we had no use of the pool facilities - apparently these are only for those who book treatments, which is unusual - given no one was using the pool this was frustrating. For what we paid (nearly £300) it also felt a bit much that breakfast was additional.
Breakfast choice was excellent Staff were courteous and efficient Room was comfortable quiet and well chilled on arrival
Stairs and access through many doorways to get to bar and restaurant although the modified building was a mixture of heritage and tastefully created complementary modifications
Nice location with air conditioned rooms
Thought the menu choices were a bit limited Dripping water on dining table due to AC Room was expensive with cost of breakfast excluded.
Lovely location, rooms are beautifully decorated, very clean. Food is excellent. Good wine list. Spa is excellent.
Water pressure is low in the rooms. Shower isnt strong at all. You have to pay extra to use the pool and sauna. If you are a guest and you are paying for the spa as well, this comes across as really cheap. Just add it to the room price and allocate us a time slot. Really disappointing. The restaurant staff outside aren’t attentive at all. Example; i asked if they have any beers on draft, the response was “let me check”. She never came back. I asked again 15mins later. She forgot. It’s easier to get a beer in Saudi Arabia than on your sun drenched terrace. Last point is the check out. Loads of people waiting. One poor lady trying to answer the phone. Two women walked past to the office. One asked if we were ok. We said we were waiting to check out. She then just walked away. I am assuming that was the manager….
Really peaceful, great menu for food
In Suite 10 didn’t feel so private as on terrace
It is not clear from the booking information that you cannot access the pool (indoor or outdoor) during the day as this is reserved for non-hotel guests that have bought spa packages. There is also no where else outside to sit and relax outside of the spa.
Everything was just perfect -Rooms were wonderful. Exceptional finesse and highly recommended for the most wonderful stay! The breakfast was beautifully cooked and well presented. Amazing grounds. Lovely staff
Nothing to complain about.
Refurbished to a very high standard
Having to pay for use of pool
The breakfast was Good, the dinner was very good.
With good breakfast and evening meal a choice of light bar snacks would have been nice.
Great location, friendly and professional staff, everything was well maintained and comfortable.

Beautiful location surrounded with countryside. The room and bathroom were so big and comfortable and staff were very friendly.
The pool is for adults only, which was a shame for us as we had our eight year old daughter.
Absolutely incredible stay. The spa is stunning and so relaxing. The whole hotel is absolutely immaculate and staff are lovely. We had dinner and breakfast, both were amazing. Couldn’t recommend enough, we can’t wait to come back!
Very aesthetically pleasing and beautiful and clean. Room was a good size with great bathroom
Problems with uncooked food, service not great. Staff member serving After dinner Drinks In the bar had no experience and we had to tell him what glass to use and how to make the cocktails!! He had no idea what he was doing!! Also came and stood near our table telling us all about his wife's illnesses! not a nice way to finish our evening!!
A fabulous, and beautiful hotel. I didn't get to try the spa but it looked great. The staff were professional and friendly and the food was excellent. The Suffolk setting was stunnging and the Italian style garden was totally brilliant.
The only tiny niggle is that my sister and I foudn the matress of the bed a little too firm, but I expect that for some that is how their preference rolls.
Lovely breakfast- very wide choice on menu.
Stunning location, delicious food, brilliant staff and a fabulous room that was very well laid out
I didn't experience anything I didn't like
Great location, high quality of staff training evident. The service and quality of the food was superb.
If you did not use the other facilities within the hotel, it would be easy to think the price was a tad high for the area.
Beautiful property - everything you could wish for from a night away! Stunning room overlooking the Suffolk countryside. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas. Food was delicious, both dinner and breakfast. A real must!
Nothing not to like - maybe add in a mini bar to the rooms? Also a Dyson hairdryer, just add some additional touches of luxury to suit the place.
Beautiful property where new meets old seamlessly.
The spa facilities were absolutely great for a relaxing stay and the room was so lovely
Beautiful hotel with amazing grounds
Stunning property throughout with a perfect blend of old and new. They’ve done a fantastic job with it
Lovely location with a great newly planted traditional garden and a superb view on the countryside. Very friendly staff. Next time I'll make time for the very tempting spa.
Portions for our lobster dish. If one offers the options between a whole lobster and a half lobster you could assume that the lobster in question is of a reasonable size. In such a lovely place the choice is not guided by the price of the dish.
The spa is incredible and the food and rooms are lovely. We went just for one night, but would highly recommend.
Beautiful grounds, very clean hotel and smells divine.
I couldn’t get connection on my TV but wasn’t much of a big deal for me.
Very clean and comfortable
We ordered a breakfast reservation for 0730 due to a work commitment chef didn’t turn up till 0800 heard an argument going on in kitchen about start times!! No fruit or cereal just a ‘beige’ choice of breakfast. I was very stressed getting to the meeting having waited 40 mins for no food to arrive. I complained at check out.
Beautiful buildings and location. The staff were exceptionally good.
The price is expensive for us, and they charge extra, £35 pp to use the spa, £30 pp for breakfast...I think they need a cheaper option for breakfast, say a continental one.
Beautiful design, clean, smells great!

The room was gorgeous, the staff were so helpful. Loved it.
Amazing property
The spa was exceptional and exclusive, the feel on the entire hotel was lovely. Highly recommend staying here and we will return for more stays.

Stunning location. Witnessed the most perfect sunset followed by a diamond clear sky and an appearance from the moon and Venus. Excellent location for Hadleigh and the surrounding Suffolk countryside.
My only niggles were that my room was a little cold, the sauna in the spa wasn’t on and the outdoor pool was heated to 17 degrees, so not warm enough to swim in.
Location was good!
The hairdryer was missing from the room and whilst looking the corner between the curtain and chest of drawers was filthy with rubbish and cobwebs clearly not been cleaned in a long while.
Beautiful place, pleasant and attentive staff. Clean and well decorated. Nice location surrounded by natural beauty. Comfortable bed and rooms. The spa was very relaxing and has a nice feel to it.
The spa is not included and is £35 each for a 2 hour slot. Had this been made clear when booking we would not have stayed here as the spa was the main reason we booked a night away. No steam room in the spa.
The design, location and service
After buying the best suite available and then being asked to pay £35 for a swim felt like a rip off! We did not swim
Lovely building and setting, the spa looked lovely. The staff were very nice, helpful and really friendly.
The toilet was dirty on arrival and the coffee machine hadn’t been cleaned, the room was cold but otherwise the room was spotless.Breakfast was lovely but the French press coffee was pretty weak.
Loved the views, and aesthetics
The quality of the food could have been better. The spa was very expensive for the facilities that were provided. Cold plunge and steam room would have been a nice touch. Aesthetically the entire place is stunning.
Warm reception from the Excellent staff who went over and above to accommodate our needs. We were running late after work and called the hotel to try and order some food, outside of kitchen opening hours, nothing was too much trouble. They prepared a delicious freshly made meal and delicious is an understatement! Thank you Ali and the team as well as compliments to the chef! The hotel itself is beautiful with stunning views to match.

Absolutely beautiful room and surprised by the reasonable price. Staff were so polite professional and friendly. Restaurants, bar and outside seating area is stunning. Heaters outside allowed us to eat outside. Garden and outside area was pristine. Every detail has been considered in this hotel down to the corridors! Nice touch to have homemade cookies in the room and proper coffee machine in addition to a kettle
I wasn’t impressed with the food considering the price of it. I found it just ok taste wise and overpriced. I would have liked a fridge in the room to store drinks and milk for hot drinks. There were two lamps in the room and neither worked
It is a lovely property in stunning surroundings, a lovely feel to the place
I can’t fault the property it was lovely
Fantastic New Property

The property was so lovely. The decor was beautiful, it was clean, spacious, light, would definitely stay again.
The location the accommodation all of it. A perfect place for the relaxed weekend getaway and chill.

Beautiful hotel in beautiful grounds Staff were all amazing. The security guy and night manager especially will definitely be back!
Character Quality of finishes and furnishing Professionalism of staff View and location
Waited just over 30 mins after ordering breakfast for it to arrive. Only 2 other diners in the restaurant. Quality was bitterly disappointing and by no means matched the quality of food enjoyed the evening before.
Excellent quality and very comfortable
Some building work in progress but no issues
Quirky, quality finishes
We had the loft bedroom. We stayed during the winter, think dark early evenings. No mirror with a light to apply makeup, the full length mirror opposite the door may have had a socket near for a hairdryer but there is no light over that area. It was also too dark to dry my hair, see my clothes hanging on the wardrobe rail or, most importantly the steps down to them.
Staff top drawer and lovely place to stay. Food was excellent and the tomahawk was cooked perfectly.
Food was good, restaurant staff very good and the place was nicely decorated.
The room we stayed in (5) was directly above a small function room where the hotel put a 30th birthday party and it was very clear there wasn’t any sound proofing. Major lack of sleep. Also felt at £250 it was very expensive, particularly when breakfast was extra.
Fabulous staff - Excellent food in the restaurant - Really comfortable room - Attractive surroundings!
Nothing to dislike!
