We had a pleasant stay at this homestay. The host Marikar was very kind and helpful, and the location was really convenient for getting around. While there is some room for improvement, overall we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the warm hospitality.

Perfect location in the middle of the centre. Friendly and helpfull host

Because of the wooden floor in the room above, you hear every step/move people do in that room. Even with earplugs it is almost impossible to sleep if people in that room start packing early in the morning to get the 7:30 train.

The location was extremely handy and hosts... Merikar and Srithi were beautifully warm hearted. The loft room we stayed in was comfortable and clean. Merikar drove us to the bus station and ensured we got on the correct bus

We had a change of plans and arrived a day later than planned. Messaged the host in advance and they pushed our booking back one night. When we arrived they did a load of laundry for us and when asked for price they asked for just a small amount on top of paying for the hotel which was so helpful (we tipped for this). The location is great right in the centre of the fort surrounded by nice restaurants and cafes. Very well priced. Room was spacious and shower was hot. AC worked well with the fan too. They kept our bags after checkout for 5hours at no extra cost too. Very accommodating hosts.

The plug sockets arent directly next to the bed so you need a fairly long cable to charge while in bed, but very minor.

Cute little Guesthouse in great location in the middle of the fort with an amazing and very welcoming owner. He even gave us a ride to the bus station after checking out.

Bathroom was pretty small (still enough) and floor underneath the bed could use a little bit of cleaning (besides that it was very clean though). Still very good value for money.

Absolutely lovely people who greeted us, helped us with useful information, and we're all round kind and lovely to chat to 😊 This is what made the stay so good. The location was absolutely perfect, couldn't beat it! The price for the area was great too.

The rooms were basic, but enough for us. The beds and bathroom could have been a bit cleaner.

Sitti and America (sorry about the spelling!) were fantastic hosts. Great location right in the heart of the fort area. The room was spotless and very comfortable and every thing worked well. Little kitchenette and balcony available to use so you can chill out in the evening. America also gave us a free lift to the bus station. If your looking for a good value place to stay in Galle I highly recommend this place!

Best location in Galle Fort. Absolutely lovely hosts. America is always around and ready to help. Quiet inside the room. Sometimes peacocks come around for morning waking up. It’s amazing to watch them on the opposite roof 10 meters from yourself. Once I counted 6 of them at once. Tip: crab kottu round the corner in Sugar bistro is perfect

The shower is a bit challenging, but ask Merica to explain the mechanism.

The bathroom was very small and the shower not that clean. WiFi did not work well.

Lighthouse is located right in the centre of Galle Fort area within easy access of local cafes, restaurants and shops. There is plenty of choice but I think the prices for meals and breakfast are more expensive. Cheaper options are available if you leave the fort area. It is pleasant to walk the ramparts and places to swim within walking distance.There is an outside balcony that can be used by guests and kettle for your use with coffee and tea supplied. Very helpful and friendly host. There was a washing line to dry clothes which I appreciated.

Our room was on the top floor and there are stairs to navigate . The host will help with your luggage if needed. The bedroom is in loft space so not ideal if you are tall.

The whole family was great and I had an outstanding stay at the place. I can only recommend it.

It’s located at a prime location from where you can walk around the place. The hosts are very nice and friendly, they made sure that we do not face any difficulty during the stay. The room we stayed was very spacious and clean. It was total value for money stay.

The property is fine for a budget stay in an expensive city. To expect boutique or resort conditions (as I feel was reflected in some reviews) is not fair to the owners. The room could use a deep, deep clean and fresh coat of paint, however it is certainly very comfortable as is!

Location is ideal for discovering Galle Fort. Can hardly imagine better place to be. Marika(the owner) is fun, very communicative and very nice. Nice balcony to sit in the evening.

Room and space is rather shabby. Electrical socket instalation right in the shower = very dangerous. Electricity installation doesnt even come close to any standard. Room is directly under the roof thus very hot.

The hosts were lovely and the position could not have been better.

The photos were extremely outdated and the room could have been cleaner. The right up implies you have your own little fridge and coffee making facilities. In fact you share with everyone on the floor below. The bathroom was so narrow we had to sit on the loo sideways 😵‍💫

In the middle of Fort area, all the main sights very close, also walking distance from town centre Very helpful family runs this guesthouse. Galle is The place to go so it is a bit pricey, but really worth visiting

The staff was so nice and helpful, I loved them. The location is perfect with a lot of restaurants and all sights very closeby. And it is a beautiful old house.

The cleanliness could be slightly better - i had some ants in the bathroom. Also, the bathroom itself is very old and it's quite hard to turn on hot water.

What an amazing location in the heart of Galle Fort. Unbeatable. The family who ran it were kind; the ac and fan were cold; the bedding was clean and the beds were comfortable. It was also cheaper than a meal for 4 in Galle so great value.

The room could have done with a sweep and mop (floor level) and the bathroom needed a bit of a scrub. The toilet didn’t flush and I’m sure they could have fixed it but we were tired and kids weren’t dressed so we just filled up the bin and flushed it that way. It would just be good if it had been checked before we arrived. Small easy to fix things.

Thought I booked a colonialstyle Hotel, but was a kind of basic homestay. From outside nice building, but from inside nothing special. The booked balkony wasn't attouched to the room -was a common balkony and the bathroom was very small and just a open shower next to toilet

Marikar and his lovely wife (a retired English teacher) made us very welcome right from the start - you couldn’t wish for nicer hosts! Marikar drove us to station and helped us in mobile phone shop. The location is just absolutely ideal - right in the heart of the Fort, but not noisy at all. We had a room with two singles and a double, sharply sloping roof (mind your head!), plenty of space, good air conditioner, hot shower - and loads of character! Exceptionally good value. Room maybe a little tatty, mattresses a bit lumpy - but that just all adds to the character, and we absolutely loved it (and the hosts).

The owner and his family are very kind. But they are also not as intrusive as I experienced in other family homestays. They leave you be, you can get your own coffee or tea, and sit on the communal balcony on a rocking chair with a nice view of the roofs of fort and street life below. They are available when you need them. English is spoken well. The ac in the room works well, and there is also a fan. The property has 2 rooms. Its in the perfect location in Galle. Have an early morning/ or afternoon swim near the city walls at either the lighthouse, or the Triton bastion (my favorite spot).

The family who run the guest house are wonderful! They are so helpful with arranging transport etc. And just generally always on hand for anything. The room was old style colonial architecture with beautiful wooden beams. Location was perfect.

The host is amazing person and so do their family , they helped us with the transportation suggestions and the best places to visit, also the shops to buy souvenirs. It is a homely stay and the best location inside the Dutch fort of galle. Just around 1km from the railway station and 300 metres from the beach/sunset point. The common balcony has beautiful vibe to chill. There are three beds and spacious for 3-4 people. Highly Recommended lighthouse guest stay.

Just be mindful with the head space for the tall people from the roof for the last bed, the roof is slanted. It's not an issue just a point to be noted.

Very good quality for the price. Room was clean, with all the necessities. Location is great, quiet, easy to find, it has a very nice balcony for breakfast. But I also want to say special thank you for the owner Merica. He treated us like family, gave us very helpfull information how successcully reach airport and this saved as a lot of time in Colombo.

We had such a wonderful time at Lighthouse Guest! Our host Merica and his family were so lovely to us, and our two rooms were excellent with good air conditioning, WiFi, showers and cozy rooms. The location is perfect and it is well worth the price! Strongly recommend!

Mr Marikkar is a very friendly person and he maintains the place clean and tidy. Very close to Galle fort lighthouse and great value for the money.

Great location, the room has AC and a fan, hot water worked perfectly too. Balcony in the evening is also a nice addition, together with a cup of tea. But the host was the best - extremely helpful, spoke good English and dropped us off at the bus station and made sure we got the right bus - thank you so much!

Small suggestion - the floor rugs in the room seemed a little dirty and the wifi is a bit slow, but we didn’t really need it during our stay.

Wonderful guesthouse right in the centre of Galle Fort but still very quiet at night. Malikar is super welcoming and lovely, room clean, good hot shower and A/C.

Wonderful place with amazing family as hosts. The locasion is in the very centre of the old town, in a quiet narrow street with spectacular terrace over it. The hosts are helpful, knowing good English, comunicative. Loved the afternoons together. You have access to fridge and can make your tee/coffee anytime. The internet is working, rooms are clean. Strongly recommended!

Beautiful property located centrally. The property and hosts exuded warmth. The room was spacious for two people, bathroom was clean and well maintained. We were provided with fresh towels and sheets. Overall, a great place to stay for solo travellers and families.

Its so close to the fort, lighthouse and beach. Its a very very old Dutch period house All amenities were there. the pantry was stacked with tea bags, coffee sachets, water heater etc. clean space, good rooms and ofcourse Dutch architecture was wonderful.. evening walk at the streets was just amazing..

Cost was a little high but remembers its way cheaper than other properties in the same location. Also, the owner is very very supportive and takes stand for the visitors of his property. Hosts wife is also very supportive.

The location of the accommodation is very good, in the middle of the historic centre of Galle. The rooms are arranged around a nice green backyard and the operators are very nice and helpful.

The rooms are very basic, which is not a problem in itself, but unfortunately also a little run-down. The bathroom in particular has seen better days.

Could hear other guest above me moving around. Not a lot of privacy. Can also hear the host families going about their daily lives. Feel a bit like a homestay. Late in the night a family member came out to watch YouTube or Sinhalese movie on their phone. Noisy. The person move away when I pop my head out tho. Which was really thoughtful!

The family who run this place are amazing. They were informative about Galle, highlighting the history, local eating places and sites to visit. We enjoyed our chats. They helped us with arrangements for our onward train journey. We really enjoyed our 1 night stay and only wished we had stayed a little longer ❤️

Great location. Any place within the Galle Fort is accessible within a few minutes. Lots of cafes and restaurants in the vicinity. There's a coffee shop downstairs and a restaurant next door.

Awesome location, room and hosts. Merica greeted me as soon as my cab pulled up, and was there as we pulled away, too. I felt so taken care of throughout my stay. The hosts are so personable and welcoming, which I really appreciated traveling as a solo female. It was so nice talking with them and even meeting their 1-1/2 yr old grandson, (who is an awesome, adorable fist bumper.) They offered info and directions for the Heritage Week events. The room I got was great. It was very clean. I felt very cozy and absolutely loved it. Common area included a hot water kettle, tea and coffee. The location is amazing, and I’m so happy I decided to spend a little more to stay at a great place inside the fort. Close to look out over the ocean, catch the beautiful sunsets, and close to the great cafes, restaurants and shops. Very enjoyable visit. Highly recommend staying here.

What makes this accomodation exceptional is the owner who is very kind and very helpful. He helped us with finding the private driver for our sightseeing, helped us negotiate the prices, offered to laundry our clothes, give us the ride to the train station on our last day....if you are in this area I highly recommend this accomodation.

Please be aware that the pictures you see are a little bit outdated and that in reality the room equipment is a little bit worn out.

Merikar! He was the best! Truly, whenever there was wildlife that you could see from the balcony he would let my children know. We saw families of monkeys pass by and peacocks and lizards down below in the gutters. 😄 everything on the fort is in walking distance and has two coffee shops right on same block. Plenty of amazing restaurants and I suggest you ask around to find the ones owned locally because these are gorgeous heritage properties that have been in their families for generations. We especially loved Al Forno for breakfast and Church st for dinner. Leave room for a different gelato or ice cream shop every night. 🤣 mornings are great for snorkeling on the beach below the wall. Great variety of fish!! Just bring your own snorkeling gear as we did because as far as we found there is none available on the fort.

Nothing. We knew going into it that we would be in attic type rooms to fit our family of six and they were so cute and cozy. Merikar even dropped all six of us and luggage off at the bus station in his own car when we left.🤩 Best home stay ever!

Amazing host with good tipps about anything you might need and some funny jokes thrown in there too. Room was tidy and had everything we needed. Great location on the dutch ford. All that for a very good price.

Excellent location, very easy to reach from the train/bus station and a short walk away from many attractions/restaurants. Mr Marikar is a very friendly host who was very helpful and responded immediately to all our requests. Even stored my medicines in his fridge and administered my eye drops. Organised a trishaw to take us to the Unawatuna beach and negotiated a very good rate for the trip. Took the family room, advertised to sleep 4 but could have fitted 5 into the comfortable beds.

The room has a sloping roof and the ceiling is low on one side so just be careful not to bump your head! :) It was not an issue for our party of three though.

The room was so hot due to it being in the lift. The aircon wasn't really helpful, and we had to remove 3 massive cockraoches from the room. We left a day early due to changed plans.
