Haymarket Hostel

I had a really bad experience at this hostel. The room and bathroom were dirty, there were no towels provided, and both the main entrance and room doors barely worked with the key card they gave me. To make matters worse, 10 hours after I checked out, they tried to charge me £10 for “damaging” the bed with paint, even though it was clearly just a soap stain. The photos they sent didn’t even match the bed I used, which makes the whole situation even more frustrating. Overall, I would not recommend staying here at all. If you do end up here, be extremely cautious, as they may try to charge you unfairly for things you didn’t do.

Lo que más me gustó fue el personal. Son personales súper amables y dispuestos a ayudarte en lo que sea necesario. La ubicación está bien ya que estás a unos 20 min andando del centro. Es el hostal más barato y el precio al menos está bien porque es muy caro el alojamiento ahí.

La cocina que tenían era muy pobre. Solo había un microondas. En mi habitación hacía muchísimo frío. Por la ventana entraba el frío y además solo funciona uno de los dos radiadores que había. El termostato marcaba unos 15 grados. En general era un hostal que sabías a lo que ibas pero que no tuviera nada de cocina e hiciese mucho frío no me lo esperaba. La toalla te la cobran. Si hiciese calor y tuvieran cocina, por el precio que tiene el hostal subiría a un 7. Todo es carísimo en Edimburgo y esta opción podría ser buena si tu idea es alojarte en algún sitio barato.

Buena ubicación, muy cerca de la estación de Haymarket.

Las literas triples son incómodas, no puedes sentarte porque la litera de arriba es muy baja.

Le personnel est très agréable et accueillant L établissement était propre et le lits également. L'hôtel est très bien situé.

Indépendamment du service qui à fait un très bon travail, nous nous sommes retrouvés à nouveau avec des personnes totalement irrespectueuses . Nous n'avons pratiquement pas pu dormir car les personnes avec qui nous partagions la chambre rentraient et sortaient en claquant les portes et rigolaient et parlaient fort sans se soucier du sommeil des autres. Les derniers étant revenu à 4h30 du matin cela nous a fait 2 x 2 heures de sommeil. Donc certe le tarif était plus que correct mais cela reste cher pour ne pas pouvoir dormir.

I wasn’t satisfied with the cleanliness of the bathroom. Aesthetically it’s lovely but unfortunately when it comes to the maintenance was disappointing.

I had a good stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hostel was clean and warm, and it was good value for money.

The low price, the location (old town, Dean Village, Haymarket Station are all walking distance), the staff. I was also mostly alone in my otherwise 9-person room because it was low season. So I got a room and bathroom for myself, cannot complain. The shared kitchen is also cool, the microwave came in handy.

Cleanliness could be better (for example there was hair in the bathroom even after it was cleaned), but nothing dealbreaking. Beds, showers, toilet and the sink were cleaned regularly. It can also get a bit crowded if there are more than 4 people in the room

no lift, narrow stairs and packed rooms. The climb up the bunk bed was torture. I understand the need for cheap furniture in a place like this, but it just felt a bit too much.

lo spazio per i bagagli personali in stanza e la vivibilità della stanza. tra l'altro quella in cui mi trovavo fortunatamente era semi vuota ma uno dei 2 clienti già presenti mi ha impedito di dormire e durante la notte è stato fatto partire un allarme e c'e stato molto rumore in struttura, è stato quasi impossibile riposare.

Rooms are too tiny to host 9 people… we were lucky to be 4/5 people for just one night. 3 bunk beds of 3 beds each in a tiny room.

The staff on site were the only positive, very friendly.

Didn’t stay for more than a few hours as the room was a dingy basement with very poor ventilation and unfortunately one of the occupants seemed to have soiled himself, or at least had some considerable gastrointestinal disturbance (can’t hold this against the hostel, however the two tiny axial fans did nothing to move air out of the room). Toilet situation was not good, power situation was not good but the most infuriating aspect was having to use some absurd app on your phone to access the place (did not work for me at all). Ended up booking another hostel up the road and leaving during the night.

Safety: personal lockers (for free), luggage storage (for free), entrance into the building and the room via bluetooth key. Located right next to the transit hub (Haymarket Station). Kitchen: coffee, tea and snacks for free, microwave and fridges available. All restrooms coupled with a shower. Welcoming staff, they even offered me to leave my luggage in the hostel after the checkout since my flight was in the evening. Affordability: it's a new hostel; so the cost of stay is really low.

The space of beds in 12-bed room is small so getting into (and out of) the bed is challenging :)

Triple bunk’s not comfortable for anyone, Lowest you can’t sit on - no headroom, ladder in way of entry to bathroom, locker didn’t work, ceiling leaked, no plumping that pillow.

The location was pretty good and the area felt very safe.

The lady who worked at the front desk and did the check in was very rude and hostile to me, my group and many of the other hostel guests. She yells and doesn’t listen which makes any bit of communication very hard. I wish someone could talk with her. Other than that I would wish for cleanliness to be improved. I entered the room and clean sheets were thrown on the room floor and then used on the beds.

Some of the staff were very friendly, one was just unprofessional. The bedding was nice and comfortable, however the metal beds were not suitable for multiple people as they made a lot of noises and also there are three beds in the bunk and not two as a standard. They did have proper lockers.

Super unclean property. The kitchen was very smelly and dirty, there were spots even on the seats. The rooms had visible collection of dust in every corner. I really wondered if anyone ever cleaned the bathrooms, since these were dorm rooms and people are just coming and going. The rooms are super tiny. You'd think that for six people there would be enough space, there's barely enough room for two persons, I've had the chance to look at 3 person and 6 person rooms. The beds are absolutely not suitable for tall people, you can't even sit straight on the bed because it's a three tier bunk and the the roof of the bed of top is very close. No hooks or shelves in the rooms.

Staff was super welcoming, facilities are very good and it's very clean.

Peut être des rideaux aux lits pour un peu plus d’intimité ! Inévitablement : une petite lumière pour chaque lit !

Le personnel est très sympa et accueillant, aux petits soins. Chambre petite mais propre, parfait pour moi ! Literie très confortable, chambre bien équipée (plusieurs prises dispos et notamment des prises USB), salle de bains propre et bien équipée. Auberge calme, touristes respectueux, quartier sûr, calme et idéalement placé (lignes de bus et tramway en bas, supermarchés à 100m et beaucoup de restaus et se situe à environ 20min à pied de l’hypercentre donc parfait !!

Tout était parfait je la recommande !

Verryyyyyyy dirty. No ventilation in my room, smelly beds, pillows, duvets , the room generally is very untidy and smelly due to no cross ventilation, no windows or AC. We slept with room door open and we were so many. So people had serious coughs, so had bad body odours. Insects bites from the dirty door and environment. I swear I was praying for the day to break to escape and check out.

Cena noclegu, lokalizacja blisko przystanku na lotnisko i dostępność personelu 24h. Była suszarka, czajnik i herbata. Plus za lustra z wbudowanym światłem, idealne do malowania się.

Jedna łazienka na pokój (9/12 osób w pokoju), na korytarzach nie ma dodatkowych. Brak ciepłej wody w prysznicu, leci tylko lodowata. Urządzenia kontrolujące temperaturę nie działają. Szafki na rzeczy bardzo małe, zmieszczą jedynie plecak. Kody do nich też nie działają. Ciasnota w pokoju ogromna. Łóżka 3- piętrowe są tak ułożone, że masz problem by wejść np do środkowego miejsca lub na ostatnie, bo nie mieścisz się w szczelinie xd dostęp do okna też beznadziejny. Strefa do zostawienia bagażu przed/po meldunku jest otwarta i ogólnodostępna. Każdy może coś zabrać i wyjść. Takie rzeczy powinny być pod kluczem lub na oku recepcji, a zostawione są samopas. Fajne miejsce, ale za dużo osób na tak mają przestrzeń, która nie jest do tego przystosowana.
