The stove doesn't work, the fridge too in the kitchen and they was no kettle for coffee

I stayed 2 nights. The location was very accessible and easy to travel to other venues, especially Ellis Park, for me as a rugby fan. Staff were super-helpful and welcoming. Big thank you to Moses, Lucas , Nelly &Jennifer. Nice meeting fellow travellers, local & international. Amazing tours of Joburg & other places. The atmosphere in and around Curiocity is lively & fun!! Streets were safe & people were friendly. I’ve stayed at backpackers in foreign countries. They were good. However Curiocity is local & the most Lekker!!❤️

Il vero fiore all' occhiello si Curiocity è il personale, gentile sorridente ed accogliente. Le camere erano molto fredde e non c era il phon per cui non era possibile fare lo shampoo ed asciugare i capelli. Nonostante la nostra richiesta non ci è stato fornito con la sola spiegazione "non ne abbiamo". Il quartiere è borderline, il fatto di dover essere accompagnati dopo il tramonto non fa di certo camminare tranquilli e spensierati. Anche di giorno in strada ci osservavano e scattavano foto. Per le sere successive a Joburg abbiamo deciso di cambiare quartiere.

Tolles Zimmer und super freundliches Personal. Nah zu allem (Supermarkt, Restaurants, Nightlife). Top ausgestattete Küche. Einfach perfekt.

Leider funktionierte das WLAN fast während meines gesamten Aufenthaltes nicht.

La habitación es grande y estaba vacía porque no hay ninguna persona decente ni turistas en Johannesburg

Me robaron la comida en el hostel, había gente rara en el hostel y no me quedaba mas que estar todo el tiempo en mi habitación. No vayan a Johannesburgo mas de un día, esa ciudad no está lista para recibir turistas

the area is a bit dodgier than i expected - they're very clear about where to go and not to go, but it seemed that even the main stretch of Maboneng didn't have too much going on other than a few bars

Very good bunks even for a 192cm guy like me. I was there very early just to leave my backpack and come later for the check in, but they gave me my bed very early in the morning which was nice. The room was quite cold, but luckily for me I sleep very well in cold temperatures. That could also be a minus for many people, but for me it was a plus.

Check out the neighborhood and then decide if you wanna book a room. However, it's been said that Johannesburg can be very dangerous no matter which district. I simply didn't want to walk on Fox Street.

広いキッチンと設備。バックパッカーにはいいと思う。色んな年代、国籍のソロトラベラーがいた。

5月だったが、部屋がかなり寒い。共用エリアも水回りも寒いので、くつろげはしない。 ダウンタウンエリアなので、ただでさえ緊張感があるが、エントランスのブサーが頼りないのは焦った。

First day no power when I arrived

even thought there were some difficulties (electricity) the staff was so useful always finding alternatives! I loved my stay and will go back! It was comfortable, and the staff: 5 stars for sure!!!

Emplacement dans endroit très central pour boutiques , restaurants et sortir le soir mais il ne faut pas être seul dans la rue la nuit car on peut sentir de l’insécurité . Mais on dit cela de toute la ville! Le personnel est très attachant. Ils vous accueillent comme des amis. Les espaces communs : salon et cuisine sont accueillants

Malheureusement le bruit extérieur dérange si on a le sommeil léger. Une toilette en plus d’une douche dans le dortoir des femmes serait très agréable.

The activities proposed looked good however I did not have time to partake in them. Very safe and staff were great.

VERY loud noise on the weekend until extremely late from clubs in the street makes it near impossible to sleep. Not ideal for early mornings at the airport...

Overall, I had a good experience at Curiosity in Johannesburg. The staff were genuinely nice, friendly, and made an effort to look after guests’ safety, which I appreciated since the neighbourhood can feel a bit rough at times. At the same time, it is also a very interesting and vibrant area to explore if you come with an open mind and some street awareness.

The only downside for me was that breakfast was not included, which would have improved the overall stay. Also, during the winter period it became extremely cold, at times it honestly felt close to 10 degrees inside my room, which was quite uncomfortable, especially at night.

Freezing room especially during the night. Luck of heating in the room !!! Average location but you can go everywhere by Bolt due to affordable taxi costs..

The staff are the most wonderful people. It genuinely felt like a home away from home. It was clean and well kept. Hope to return one day. It's a lovely part of the city as well.

I really liked the hostel. It had a fully stocked kitchen and bar, a full balcony and a common room with a wood burner that came in handy. It was well laid out and I would recommend it as a great backpacker experience. It is in a very interesting part of town.

The location is interesting but you must take care. The staff will go over where you can and shouldn't go. When I was there, both the electricity and the water went off for a long time after a heavy rain. Not in a prioritized part of town.

The area is super dangerous I felt really unsafe and the bar becomes quite wild at night every time I would walk through there it was an odd local vibe I say this having traveled through a lot of South Africa and staying at local places This area is chaotic and I was scared to leave the hostel

if you're a backpacker, AVOID this place, it's not where you want to stay. the hostel itself isn't awful, it more looks like a bar tho. i've rented myself private room but it wasn't that private since i saw couple cockroaches in it. i left immediately after check in (non-refundable) when i saw the district and absence of white people around. it's one of the most dangerous areas in the city, one lady jumped on me from underneath the car next to hostel and i literally passed street full of pr*stitutes 100m away from it. oh, and there is NO WATER in hostel, that was my last straw... ADVISE: stay outside of the city, far from center

The staff is really nice (people from Johannesburg in general are super friendly), they have security, the location is central and the beds are good. When I had time to go to the bar, the people were very welcoming.

The place is really loud. The music only stops late (if it's not the music from the bar below, is the music from a bar in the corner) and already starts early. On Sunday, people were already screaming (literally) below at 7 am and I couldn't sleep anymore. There is a bar that is attached to the hostel and they play loud music. The only place with acceptable internet to work is in the bar, but the music is so loud that you cannot concentrate at all. Also, for video calls, the internet was constantly freezing. Sometimes, the plugs in the room were not working at all. I would only recommend it if you want to party and enjoy the hostel's bar or other bars in Maboneng. Looks like the bar brings more revenue than the hostel.

Hostel limpo é o quarto muito bom. Um detalhe que me assustou foi o bairro. Estive no mesmo hostel em 2017 e era muito mais alegre e animado tanto o hostel como as ruas próximas. Dessa vez achei tudo um pouco estranho

Das Zimmer ist sehr gross. Bett bequem. Eigene Dusche. Personal an der Rezi hilfsbereit. Grosse Terrasse oben.

Barpersonal unhöflich und ignorant. Es gab kein Bier mehr. Es wurde sich angebrüllt u fast geprügelt. Es gab keinen Strom. Kein Warmwasser. Sehr hellhörig und laut. Ab 7uhr morgens gehts los. 2Häuser weiter ist eine Disco, die man bis nachts hört.

Very disappointed welcoming was not good the guy smoking and blowing cigarettes smoke on us, way to the rooms passing drunk people whistling to our partners, rooms we paid for were not the one we were given, showers and toilets 10m away from our rooms😭😭😭💔😭😭😭😭

Fica em uma rua cheia de festa. Tem perigo a noite. É um entra e sai a noite inteira no quarto. Luz ligada de hora em hora. Os banheiros coletivis mais sujos que já vi em Hostel. Não é próximo do centro e nem dos locais de interesse. Não recomendo!

La ubicación no es la mejor dentro de la ciudad. Dentro de la calle misma es seguro, pero esta en una zona que generalmente no es tan segura.

Amazing location at the heart of the city, don’t worry about the dangerous neighbourhoods around there easy to spot and avoid, the staff will advice. But there is many restaurants, bars, clubs and street food available nearby in safe areas. The hostel itself is a popular bar frequented by locals itself so no need to venture out at night if needed. Great rooms, and facilities as-well. Very welcoming and engaging staff.

As mentioned it’s a popular bar as-well and with the lively street might be very loud so if your not a light nighter

Gostei da limpeza do banheiro (pia + chuveiro) dentro do quarto, e da proximidade com o restaurante Bertrand

A beliche é tão baixa que a pessoa na cama de baixo não consegue ficar sentada, e a limpeza do banheiro externo, com vaso sanitário, deixou a desejar (e pra quem se incomoda com barulho, a música do bar se ouve do quarto)

People were helpful

You could not use cash and I had problems with my Visa card, it should be mentioned that you can't use cash. Bar was very noisy. We were given 3 different tourprices for the Soweto tour by different people.

The hostel staff are very attentive, and the hostel is close to the city center, so it is well located and quite spacious. I highly recommend it.

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis der Unterkunft ist sehr gut. Personal sehr nett. Zimmer sehr sauber, Bett bequem.

Die Lage ist etwas kritisch. Die Straße auf der sich die Unterkunft befindet ist total in Ordnung, geht man aber links oder rechts der Straße weiter befindet man sich sofort in einem der gefährlichsten Viertel der Stadt.

Foi uma experencia incrivel. Os funcionarios todos atenciosos hospitaleiros. Mim senti em casa. Adorei estar hospedado no CURIOCITY.

If you want an authentic local experience this is where to go. You will be in the middle of an artist area and meet local artist if your open for it.
