Carol was very helpful, showing me places to hike and travel to. The place is absolutely stunning, clean and has everything you need, even a sewing kit!.. definitely a place to stay.

The kitchen was well equipped with a continental breakfast, including cereals, fruits, bread, a variety of spreads, and drinks. Access to the room was easy, convenient, and private. We had the best time!

Er is een tussenruimte die heel gehorig is. Deze tussenruimte is waar het ontbijt gemaakt kan worden. Wij hadden mensen in een ander appartement die heel luidruchtig waren en waren al voor 07.00 uur herrie aan het maken. Mede door gehorige tussen ruimte. Ik heb overwogen om ergens anders heen te gaan.

The accomodation had everything we needed for a short stay. Great communication from the host Carol at a great price.

Large comfy bed, great shower and lots of extras in the shared kitchen area. Location on the waterway meant wonderful evenings watching the sunset. And we appreciated the opportunity to use the hosts kayaks as well.

Reviewed Jan 24, 2026Wir waren in einer Zeit in Neuseeland, als aufgrund von Unwettern viele Straßen, unter anderem die zu unserer Unterkunft, gesperrt waren. Mit unserer Gastgeberin waren wir ab dem Vortag in Kontakt, um zu erfahren, ob es eine Möglichkeit gibt, die Unterkunft zu erreichen. Diese Kommunikation war bereits sehr freundlich, hilfreich und zuvorkommend. Und genauso haben wir unsere Gastgeberin und Ihren Mann auch kennengelernt: sehr herzlich, hilfsbereit, mit sehr guten Tipps und sehr angenehmen Gesprächen. Die Unterkunft ist sehr sauber, liebevoll eingerichtet und liegt in einer traumhaften Gegend an einem Kanal. Man kann den Grill benutzen und auf der Terrasse frühstücken und essen. In der Küche steht alles zur Verfügung, was man zum Frühstück benötigt. Das Auto kann direkt davor geparkt werden.
Wir hatten Glück und konnten die Terrasse zum Essen nutzen. Ansonsten wäre der Tisch im Zimmer für uns zum Frühstücken und Essen zu klein gewesen. Die Zimmer sind recht klein, so dass es mit zwei großen Koffern eng wird. Der fehlende Wasseranschluss in der Küche ist etwas unpraktisch. Ansonsten war alles, wie bereits beschrieben, perfekt!

Reviewed Jan 20, 2026Carol und Steve haben unsere Zeit zu etwas ganz besonderem gemacht. Wir wurden herzliche von Carol empfangen und sie hat uns alles erklärt und gezeigt sowie Tips gegeben (die Hot Pools sind sehr zu empfehlen) und schon fing auch die Entspannung an. Wir waren baden und Steve hat uns gleich geholfen die Leiter zu montieren. Man teilt sich den Aussenbereich sowie die Küche mit den anderen Gästen aber wir sind so gut wie nie jemanden begegnet , da jeder wahrscheinlich immer unterwegs ist um die tolle Gegend anzuschauen- und uns hat es auch nichts ausgemacht. In der kleinen Küche ist es super was es alles gibt! Wir haben auch nie mitbekommen , wenn jemand in der Küche war, da das Bett so bequem war und wir Seelig durchgeschlafen haben! Da wir ein Auto hatten waren wir überall sehr schnell.
Dass wir schon wieder weitergereist sind - wir wären gerne noch länger geblieben!

It was very close to the beach and to many restaurants. The room had everything you could think of. You can tell a lot of thought was put into this air bnb. We will definitely be coming back when we are next in the area! Again, thank you so much for having us!

Reviewed Jan 12, 2026Schöne, neue Ferienunterkunft direkt am Wasser. Die Terasse der Eigentümer kann inklusive Liegen mitbenutzt werden. Zimmer sind modern gestaltet und sehr sauber. Außerdem wurden Strandhandtücher und kleine Snacks durch die sehr nette Gastgeberin bereitgestellt. Parkplatz direkt vor der Tür. Wir würden sofort wieder buchen. 😊

Reviewed Nov 25, 2025Es war eine richtig schöne Unterkunft und es lag direkt an einem Fluss. Die Umgebung war wunderschön und das Zimmer war richtig schön eingerichtet und sauber. Die Gastgeberin war eine total nette, süße Frau die uns ganz viele Tipps gab und auch immer wenn wir sie trafen fragte sie, was wir uns angesehen haben. Es gab einen kleine Frühstücksraum, wo wir uns jeden Tag selbst nach Belieben das Frühstück machten. Es gab sogar frische Erdbeeren und wir haben unser Frühstück immer auf der Terasse direkt am Wasser genoßen. Uns hat es so gute gefallen, dass wir sogar eine Nacht verlängert haben! Die Insel Coromandel ist auch einfach wunderschön und wir konnten uns in den 3 Nächten total entspannen! Ich kann diese Unterkunft nur total weiterempfehlen!! Die Lage war auch perfekt - genau in der Mitte von den bekanntesten Sehenswürdigkeiten.
Es gab nichts Negatives.

Soprattutto la camera è curata nei minimi particolari, pulita ed equipaggiata. Anche lo spazio colazione è ricco e pieno di comfort. L’host Carol, persona gentile e sempre disponibile.

Reviewed Nov 4, 2025Die Unterkunft war sehr hübsch eingerichtet und alles sehr neu und modern. Das Bad ist sehr groß und gut ausgestattet. In der gemeinsamen Küche war alles für ein gutes Frühstück vorhanden, was man sich als Gast selbst zusammenstellen konnte. Hinter dem Haus gibt es eine Terrasse, die man mit nutzen kann und dort einen direkten Blick auf den River hat. Carol hat uns sehr nett begrüßt und uns viele Tipps für Ausflüge und Restaurants gegeben. Die Unterkunft liegt in einer ruhigen Gegend. Die Bootsfahrt zur Cathedral Cove war sehr beeindruckend und die anschließende Wanderung zum Shakespeare Cliff auch sehr abwechslungsreich. Das Restaurant Salt sowie der Inder Clove sind sehr zu empfehlen. Von der Unterkunft kann man in ca. 20-25 Minuten zu Fuß dorthin spazieren.

Reviewed Mar 31, 2025We had the most fantastic stay at Mermaid Waterways and couldn’t recommend it enough to any singles or couples. The location is about a 25 minute drive from Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove so super convenient, as well as a short 20 minute walk into the town centre and marina with some lovely shops and restaurants. Carol is the BEST host I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying with - she couldn’t do enough for us during our stay including local recommendations, a generously stocked kitchen for us to use at breakfast time, and access to any of the amenities listed within her home such as the patio, golf and kayaks. The space itself was incredibly clean and modern (the bathroom is gorgeous) and the bed was huge and super comfortable. The AC was great, and the remote controlled blinds were great for privacy. We had absolutely zero negative points when staying with Carol and were sad to leave after only 2 nights - I recommend booking more and really taking the time to do everything.

A few more explicit instructions for the use of the tv remotes could have been helpful. We managed however.

Reviewed Feb 14, 2025We arrived at Mermaid Waterways and had a lovely welcome from Carol. The room was absolutely lovely and had everything you could think of to make your stay perfect. It was connected to a little room with a fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle, and supplies for drinks and breakfast items too. We bought ourselves some food one evening and sat outside overlooking the waterway which was really pleasant. We also borrowed the kayaks and went for a paddle. We would have loved to have stayed longer if we'd had time as the whole area of Whitianga and the Coromandel was lovely and if I didn't live on the other side of the world I'd be back again soon.

Well stocked kitchenette with real bottles of milk! Many different types of coffee to choose from. Fresh bread and loads of breakfast cereals including fruit. Shared yoghurts, spreads, water etc. very impressed!! Great job guys

Carol was a great host. She has thought of everything for her guests' comfort, including beach towels and a picnic blanket. Being able to use the shared kitchen facilities was a bonus. We highly recommend Mermaid Waterways and would definitely stay there again.
