If there was an ultimate excellent we would award it. Lovely everything. We would especially like to appreciate the meet and greet assistant manager. She was an absolute credit to the hospitality industry and rarely have such exceptional hospitality been offered. Perhaps credit where credit due.

The room was clean and well maintained. Great shower. The bar lounge was also nice. We didn’t eat in the hotel so can’t comment on the food. The location is only a few minutes walk from the castle and from the centre of the city. The staff were really welcoming and helpful.

Comfortable room, friendly staff and great location, with good on-street parking.

Booking.com stayed that breakfast was included in the price....but no breakfasts have been offered at the property for some 4 to 5 months...so expectations not met. Sadly Booking.com were only interested in passing the issue to the property ie taking no responsibility for having an inaccurate listing!

We had a fantastic stay at the Wagon & Horses. The room was spotless, comfortable and surprisingly quiet, making for a great night's sleep. The location is ideal, just a short walk into Lancaster city centre while being right by the river, which made for lovely evening strolls. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and the pub downstairs had a great atmosphere (very dog friendly too!). We also enjoyed the food and appreciated the little touches in the room, such as the tea and coffee facilities and complimentary water. It offered excellent value for money and we'd happily stay here again when visiting Lancaster. Highly recommended!

We booked for bed and breakfast some months beforehand. We paid on this basis but manager informed us on arrival that breakfast not available and no longer included in price. Both venue and Booking.com failed on this, you both had numerous occasions to tell us before cancellation period expired… but chose not to. The venue just took the money and shrugged their shoulders…. They didn’t care…. Very poor and we won’t be back. Shower head held together with sellotape and room looking tired now

Being tokd on arrival no breakfast tge folliwing day on Management orders! We had paid for it included. The young man told us if we got a receipt for breakfast we could send to booking.com. for partial or all reimbursed. When i messaged booking.com they knew nothing about it but if hotel dont pay me withing 5 days they will pay me and claim back themselves!! Breakfast should not be advertised now and room rates lowered to allow for going out to find somewhere.

It was clean, but room has seen a lot and the decor is very dated.

The property is a little out of town which makes it quiet. Comfortable rooms.

No breakfast even though I paid for it to be included as advertised. I was told I could only claim a refund back via Booking.com which is proving difficult. Also it is not close to town really especially if you have had a heavy night and are trying to stagger back to your hotel 🫤

Friendly staff, room very clean and well stocked with tea/coffee/biscuits and most importantly water as we were there on the hottest days of the year so far.

Breakfasts cancelled, only told on arrival, not Inns fault. Menu very limited and sadly our Pizza was a bit on the soggy side but the cocktails made up for it.

The shower was amazing and the place was spotless. The staff were also very nice and when we asked for more coffee and milk for the room it was no problem and we were given plenty.

When we got there we were informed ( because I asked what time it was served) that breakfast was no longer offered even though we booked with breakfast included. Being told it was complimentary so they had decided to stop offering it 2 weeks previously. I was a bit upset that we hadn't been informed and it was one of the reasons we had booked as they had such good reviews for breakfast. We were offered £5 pp per day refund which wasn't enough to go and buy breakie but was better than nothing.

THE ROOM WERE CLEAN

ARRIVED AT LANCASTER GOT A TAXI TO THE WAGON AND HORSES AROUND 11 30. NOT TO CHECK IN BUT TO LEAVE BAGS UNTIL LATER. NO ONE AROUND. COULDN'T GET IN. NO ONE ANSWERED CALLS EITHER. ABOUT 12 OCLOCK HEARD SOMEONE ROUND THE BACK SO I ASKED TO LEAVE BAGS. DIDN'T CHECK IN UNTIL AROUND TEA TIME. PAID FOR BREAKFAST AS IT STATED ON THE SITE!!. GOT UP IN THE MORNING. ONCE AGAIN NO ONE AROUND COULDN'T GET INTO BAR TO SPEAK TO ANYONE. SO WENT BACK TO THE ROOM AND PACKED OUR BAGS. HOWEVER WE DIDN'T KNOW IF ANY OTHER GUESTS WERE AROUND SO WE LEFT THE BAGS IN THE ROOM. WITH THE ASSUMTION THAT IF ANYONE TURNED UP THEY WOULD REMOVE THEM. WE WENT TO LANCASTER FOR FESTIVAL ITALIA FROM WEST CUMBERLAND. INVOLVING TRAIN JOURNEYS. WE DECIDED WE HAD TRAVELLED ALL THAT WAY AND DID NOT WANT TO MISS IT. WE MET ANOTHER COUPLE ON THE WAY OUT. THEY WERE JUST AS ANGRY AS WE WERE. THEY HAD ALSO BEEN LIED TO. THEY GAVE THEM £10 BACK. PATHECTIC. MY FRIEND HAS HAD STOMACH CANCER AND HAS TO EAT LITTLE AND OFTEN. SO WE WENT INTO CITY SO SHE COULD HAVE BREAKFAST. WE STAYED AND WATCHED THE ENTERTAINMENT THAT WE HAD TRAVELLED TO SEE. WE WENT BACK AND GOT OUR BAGS. THE MANAGER WAS ARROGANT. HE SAID WHY DID YOU NOT CHECK OUT. WE COULDN;T AS NO ONE WAS AROUND. WE ASKED ABOUT BREAKFAST . HE SAID IT WAS COMPLAMENTARY AND HE WASN'T OBLIGED TO GIVE US ANY!!! REALLY. I HAVE STAYED THERE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS LOVED IT. VERY HIGH STANDARDS AND EXCELLENT FOOD. I WOULD SAY HE HAS NO CHEF. I HAVE WORKED ALL MY LIFE IN THIS INDUSTRY. NEVER WOULD I HAVE TREATED ANYONE THAT BAD.

So when we booked our room the breakfast was included in our price and on arrival we were informed that breakfast was no longer available and this had been the case for about three weeks , on talking with the manager and asking why we had not been informed he said it was not his problem and he had informed booking.com and we said we were unaware of the situation And the only reason we booked here was because we wanted the breakfast I had also spoke to him the night before to ask if the hairdryers in the room so he had every to tell me then and if we had known in advance we would have cancelled again he stated it was not his problem and actually smercked at me He then offered us a 5 quid refund to compensate for our breakfast to where we said to him there is no where we could get a breakfast for 5 pounds So we declined on this so we can speak to booking.com So we have taken photos of the menu in a local cafe and kept our receipts for the two breakfast we bought which were approx 30pounds per day so that was an extra 60 pounds out of our money which we had not accounted for and already paid for breakfast with our booking he was extremely rude and unprofessional and did not really care about the inconvenience it caused us. We feel that we should be able to claim back our breakfast cost with our receipts provided so if no response to this I will contact booking.com directly

Advertised as breakfast included but there was no breakfast and no refund for this either. The manager said we should have been informed but this did not help when we were expecting a full English!! Bathroom in bed of tlc, grout in shower very dirty. Bed too soft and felt like you were rolling out.

The location is great for local attractions only a 10 minute walk to St Mary's Church, the Castle and Police Museum. The pub area is attractive and the barman was very helpful and attentive. We ate there in the evening, standard pub fare, limited menu but tasty and reasonably priced. Our room was small but nicely decorated and clean. Payable good priced carpark behind the pub, free on street parking but only for 3 hours during the day.

Double bed small, noisy road at the front. We booked bed and breakfast but they stopped doing breakfast since booking (we were given a £10 refund to compensate for this). Thankfully we found there is no end of eateries within an 8 to 15 minute walk.

Good location

We booked and paid for a room inclusive of breakfast. It wasn’t until after we checked in and later enquired about breakfast time that we were informed that they no longer offer breakfast. Had we known this we would have stayed elsewhere. We were offered 10 pounds compensation, which nowhere near covered the cost of two breakfasts elsewhere.

We booked the property through Trip.com and paid £99 for a room for one night including a full English breakfast, only to be told ‘We don’t do breakfast anymore.’ Rooms were advertised on a board in the pub at ‘From £70’ and when my partner queried it, he was told that it was from an offer in January - which should have been removed!!

The room had river views which made my stay feel extra special. I also loved how clean everything was. The bed also felt really comfy. It actually felt like my own bed at home. Which was a real plus. I also loved the fan and large container of water. I made use of both during my stay. The windows also opened, which helped me control the temperature of the room. I had a wonderful stay and I'm sure I'll be back.

The shower took a few attempts to work out. You have to turn the handle quite far around for the water to come out. Then the water pressure is amazing. Quite strong.

Clean, quiet and pleasant place to stay within easy walking distance of Lancaster. Parking is ok as long as you're only doing an overnight. Bed was comfortable.

Very tired room in need of refurbishment. It was very cold in the nights to begin with but when they put the heating on the sound of the radiators were disturbing.

Wagon and horses is a nice hotel in a quiet riverside location. Rooms were clean. Comfortable. Plenty hot water. And tea and coffee making facilities.

We discovered after we booked for 2 nights that they were no longer doing breakfasts apparently due to some transition. We had booked the hotel as we had stayed here before and the breakfast was great. So that was disappointing. And another thing we didn't like was there was no staff working when we came down in the morning. We later discovered they don't start till 10. 00 am,. We were able to get out by discovering a fire exit that led onto the street. But we were initially unsure if this door was alarmed so called the out of hours number pinned to this door. Sadly no reply. And went to voicemail. Nobody returned our call and we left via that exit.. We discovered our key fitted that door from the outside. So we could get back in that way. Generally seemed like hotel is been used a bit like a air B&B. Which is not us really. Hopefully they will start breakfasts again. But it did spoil our stay..

Staff were very helpful. Our car broke down and with their help it was fixed the following day.

When we arrived we were told the kitchen had been closed and we wouldn't be getting breakfast even though we'd paid for bed and breakfast. We were eventually offered a £5 refund which we declined because it wouldn't cover the cost of a breakfast anywhere else. Booking.com are now looking into this for us. Our room was clean but very small and dated. £99 is too much to charge for the standard of the accommodation.

On arrival at the hotel, we were told breakfast was not included which was very inconvenient.?After showing them the booking.com reservation they refunded us £10 which is hardly generous for two people. Sure enough, it cost us £22 for a basic breakfast. Not a good experience. Disappointing response from booking.com.

Upon arrival - despite having clearly paid for a breakfast with the room, I was told by a staff member that the breakfast I'd paid for was 'complimentary' - and that this particular 'compliment' had been withdrawn, and that there would be no proportional refund. This was apparently due to 'new management'. To be honest, as a paying customer, I really don't care whom is managing the hotel - I care that I get the breakfast that I've paid for. This absolutely wasn't good enough.

Noise from the pub permeated into the room. No chef so couldn’t have evening meal there.

Great spot for our cycling stopover. Daisy was super helpful esp round storage of our bikes.

Unfortunately no food the week we stayed, but Daisy super helpful in recommending places to eat.

Use of herbal products and gloves for hands may help staff ,coming into contact with spray.

Really lovely pub atmosphere with a friendly owner who looks after you straight away with a warm welcome. Clean and comfortable bedroom. Nice range for breakfast though I didn’t make the most of it myself. Eggs and bacon were good :-)

Only nitpicking but wouldn’t mind a bathtub and couldn’t work out how to get the heating on in the bathroom.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was small which I expected but very comfortable especially the bed and bed linen.Good range of items in cooked breakfast. Having a lift was unexpected and most welcome due to having large cases.

We liked the individual character of the pub and decor. We had an enjoyable bar supper one night and two tasty breakfasts (very good poached eggs). Our room had a nice view of the river and the bed was comfortable; shower worked well. Staff were friendly and helpful. Pub was only a short walk from the town centre.

Our room was quite small, but adequate. Coffee at breakfast was not very good. I asked for tomatoes with my eggs but they were forgotten. Quite a bit of traffic on the road outside, but that is not the fault of the pub!

It is a lovely location on the river. It is not right in the centre of town though.
