Excellent food and very helpful staff.
Friendly staff. Food was good. Comfortable room

Lovely room with a big bath and the location is in beautiful countryside. The staff were really friendly and helpful.. the food was exceptional from the restaurant. Gorgeous gardens to look at out the back of the restaurant.

We did not have breakfast but had a very nice evening meal
We’ve been charged for breakfast but didn’t have it but I’ve emailed the carpenters arms so I’m sure will be sorted as they were very helpful & accomodating
I have many happy memories of this property. Our main family holiday for 25 years from 1985 to 2010 was at Foxhills Hideaways, where we rented a log cabin for a week. That venue was a few hundred yards away off the Kirby Knowles Road. I think it’s now private property. I love the fact that you can now stay there and the food is still gastro pub standard. I have mobility problems and need to use a mobility scooter but I was looked after very well.
Beautiful place with amazing staff.
Ideal for visiting Thirsk Races
Thought was overpriced for one night
Comfortable and clean
Liked everything
Location location location - and the staff who are always delightful
Great garden and view. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking. A place with character.
Beautiful room, stunning scenery, excellent evening meal & breakfast, friendly staff. What more could you want?Thank you

Facilities, food, staff, location.
Very poor WiFi and no 5g so struggled to do any work.
Lovely rooms and outdoor space

Struttura molto accogliente e curata. Tutto perfetto.
All the staff were nice and nothing was too much trouble for them

A lovely, quiet pub in a tranquil village. The staff are pleasant and accommodation is of a very good standard with a large, comfortable bed, clean facilities and lots of space. It is reasonably close to Thirsk for shops and on the edge of the moors for scenery. Would stay again.
Restaurant good but perhaps a tad overpriced.
I did not stay where I had booked at the Inn. I was told that Booking.com had made an error and although it looked a very pleasant place. I was moved to West Acres 1.6 miles away. The room I was given had not been full cleaned and had not been made up. So I had to drive back. The General Manager was helpful and drove back to make sure I got a room. The final room I ended up with was very good. I was offered a free drink by the bar staff and there were apologies.
It was the disorganised booking and room allocation that I didn’t like. In the morning I had to drive to drop off my key. The manager asked whether I’d left a message the previous evening I said yes. She apologised.
It's beautiful gardens, rooms and views are stunning, they think of everything you would need, the restaurant is set up so lovely and welcoming, the staff are so welcoming and polite, I definitely would recommend and possibly come back
The side road up from Helmsley is so narrow and overgrown, I wouldn't recommend that way to approach. Had a near miss on way up. Come the other way from Thirsk.
Just about the nicest place we’ve stayed in the British Isles. Fantastic location as NF the gardens a really nice touch. Room large, bed comfortable, everything clean and modern. Restaurant food excellent as was breakfast (though breakfast menu is different to the one on line). Staff were really great and helpful. Will definitely stay again.

Lovely location and very friendly staff. Dinner was excellent
Lovely views and nicely landscaped
It was a serious heatwave and the small attention to detail like closing the blackout curtains over the patio windows or offering me a fan would have been nice. There was no a/c so it was stuffy and you couldn’t leave the patio windows open as they were on the ground floor. I had to ask for a fan.
We originally booked a different cheaper room as it said it was dog friendly, but they called us to say it was a mistake and only the garden rooms were dog friendly so they upgraded us with a small charge which was fine. The room was really nice, better than we expected, the shower was huge and the bathroom had a heated floor! and the bed was super comfy, we had a great night sleep. There was a complimentary bed and bowl left for the dog which was really nice! She made herself comfy on it immediately. The garden outside the rooms was lovely and there was a nice enclosed field just next to it for our dog. We had dinner in the restaurant that evening (we had eaten here previously on our last visit to yorkshire, unfortunately this time it was for a funeral) the food was again delicious, we also had breakfast the next morning which was great and they brought our dog a sausage for her breakfast too. The offer price we paid made it really good value for money, we liked it so much that we considered asking if it was available for another night, but we ended up not doing it, but we should have as we got stuck in 4 accidents on the way back home and spent 10hrs in the car! 100% we would book to stay here again if we are in yorkshire again
Nothing, everything was perfect
Great place to stay Welcoming with great food

We had the King Superior Garden View room. Nice spacious room, very clean and with all the facilities we needed including a fridge. Nice big bathroom with a Bath and a walk in Shower. Food in the Hotel Restaurant is also very nice.
The bed wasn't comfortable at all for us both. A very hot room at night without the heating on. No windows to open as was only the sliding doors to the Garden and the main door to get in.
Nur eines: Die Tür zum Flur hatte unten einen fingerdicken Spalt. Aber da das (einzige) Nachbarzimmer nicht belegt war, war nachts nichts zu hören. Ansonsten alles prima!
We have stayed here several times and always in the garden rooms. This is the first time in a room in the main building. Compared to our previous visits the room was rather tired and the entrance staircase leading to our room was in need of re decorating. It was a short visit but much preferred the garden room experience.
Room in general
The garden rooms are beautiful
Nothing at all
Lovely location, excellent food and service and awesome facilities overall.
The bed was fairly average and could feel the springs.
Absolutely amazing location, accommodation and food.
Nothing at all, faultless night away to celebrate our anniversary.
Very relaxing. Great food and staff.
Well appointed just relaxing
The place and the location was fantastic clean comfy friendly the staff were polite and friendly with lovely views
The service for the evening meal was painfully slow and the food wasn't worth the wait unfortunately.
Great place to stay, lovely environment, service and location
TWIN beds pushed together to make a double a little uncomfortable
Beautiful surroundings, great staff, good food. The rooms were perfect, we will be back!
Nothing.
Staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was superb. Could not fault this establishment. Would highly recommend it.
Beautiful building Nice beer garden Rooms have a very boutique feel…with super comfy beds Amazing breakfast Very attentive staff

Good location Pleasant room and outlook. Friendly housekeeping staff.
Poor lighting in the seating area.
Everything, firstly the staff, they helped with the drying of our extremely wet motor bike gear as we had been caught in a storm without our wet gear on🤦♂️ and without Madalane’s help we would of been riding next day in wet gear (not pleasant) thank you again Madalane. Also all staff were helpful nothing to much trouble thank you all😃 rooms perfect too and the restaurant food was excellent, and good nights sleep, the perfect end to a not so good day!

The whole experience was outstanding from start to finish. Beautiful room, garden and totally delicious food.

Staff all great 😎 super friendly
Menu was a little limited
Beautiful setting, very well designed and cared for, really relaxing and has really good amenities
Beautiful garden with stunning views. Garden rooms were lovely and wish we could have stayed longer! Dog friendly which is why we booked it. The food was incredible and staff really friendly
Very comfortable rural location with friendly helpful staff. Restaurant excellent
Beautiful peaceful location, great rooms, food was lovely, the staff were all friendly and helpful.
Nothing bad about the property itself, it was a shame that when we returned to the property on Sunday afternoon there was a group of children running around the garden and destroying all the beautiful flowers and they also left smashed glass at the entrance to the field, the staff very quickly cleared it up once made aware.
First rate accommodation, we did not have breakfast as booked on a room only basis. However plenty of cafes near by in Thirsk that do great breakfasts.
All good, no complaints
Everything!
Nothing.
I can't comment on the food, as I didn't have breakfast or dinner there, but my room was absolutely beautiful. The bathroom was very spacious and extremely warm. The bath was wide and long. Had a lovely view from the window, onto a slope covered with daffodils. The staff were all very helpful. Didn't have time to explore the village. Would really like to stay here again, and take breakfast and dinner next time. My room was number 12, in the main building, and I would be asking for that room again.
For once - a pub which claims it serves food and actually does. Great meal, with staff who seemed to genuinely care - a lot of pubs in this country should go and do some training and development here. Congratulations one and all and thank you.
The bed. 5/10.
Perfect for dogs.
Full of character Pub that allows dogs , Quiet location in North Yorkshire and easy to get to Helmsley & Thirsk. Quality restaurant and food worth paying for and so love a good quality breakfast (see image)
WiFi in a couple of the rooms can be a bit weak at certain times
Fantastic location and service.
We stayed for 1 night in number 4, it was absolutely amazing, the room was spotless, large comfortable bed, coffee machine, bottled water, toiletries, plenty of teas and coffees to chose from plus little extras like umbrellas and cushions for the outside seats made it an amazing stay. The grounds are beautiful and very peaceful, we felt relaxed as soon as we arrived. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was great. We will definitely be back
We only stayed for 1 night.
Amazing place, lovely big room and friendly staff , will definitely be back
Nothing it was all perfect
Rooms were absolutely lovely. WiFi was great, free access to magazines and newspapers. Netflix on the tv. Every creature comfort imaginable. Food and drink in the bar / restaurant was fantastic IG only every accomodation was on this level.
£20 for breakfast is a little steep
I stayed in the Egton superior room separate from the pub, which is in a lovely courtyard situation with a fabulous view. The room was large accommodating a sofa and two armchairs and it was warm and cosy. It had a very nice large bathroom with a bath and separate walk in shower. The large very comfortable bed with a choice of Pillows. The room had varied lighting to give a nice luxury atmosphere. One extra was a torch, so able to walk my dog along darkened streets, with confidence. There was also a small green area beyond the courtyard for them to stretch their leg in the morning. There was plenty of parking on the premises in a well lite car park.
No instruction to use the coffee machine. Bit noisy outside on Saturday night and the room needed a little bit of a repaint in areas.
Lay out and view of the bedroom
Restaurant very pricey
The food was excellent. I had the cod loin and my husband had the pork belly(both delicious). The accommodation spacious and comfortable. All the staff we met could not have been nicer or friendlier. Mentioned that my husband was not too mobile at present and were offered an accesible room immediately. If you want a relaxing break with good food and service..this is the place. Will be back asap.
Leaving.
Everything apart from the bed
The bed was 2 single mattresses and was very uncomfortable
Staff were amazing as usual and the food was delicious.
I should have stayed longer :)
Beautiful location. Very friendly & welcoming staff.Excellent food.
Room a little hot.Air conditioning would improve comfort of guests.
Rooms were exactly as expected and high quality. Very comfortable accomodation.
Although the accommodation is very good, breakfast was poor. Food served was low quality: eggs Benedict sauce was watery. Bacon hard and the whole full breakfast looked like it had been cooked and left standing for a long time, even though we were the only people there when we ordered. Service was slow. Toast took 35 minutes to arrive.
Perfect location beautiful food
The member of staff who check us in got our names wrong then when I went to pay for our meal again the name was wrong we had been booked into stay under wrong name when checking in which was very embarrassing to my new partner and I tv in room Did not work all the manger said was sorry ! He couldn’t get it to work not anything more ! the bed was really uncomfortable ment to be king size however due to it been two beds pushed together the middle of bed was awful and extremely uncomfortable the room needs to be upgraded picture hooks in wall with no pictures on them !! Overall it was ok however I would not rush back to stay again
The food was amazing the room and location was fantastic. From temple spa in the room underfloor heating drying wardrobe proper tea and coffee and real milk!! Gun safe and good entrance so if you have muddy boots on not to worry. Being gluten free it was fantastic to have a wide choice to choose from. For breakfast there's plenty to choose from again can be done gluten free. The staff were all lovely.
The mattress could of done with a topper on but other than that nothing
Excellent rooms and friendly staff
Nothing
Peaceful location with lovely views. Good quality spacious accommodation. Log fires and a good atmosphere.
I was slightly disappointed with the food, but maybe that’s because my expectations were very high. I also thought breakfast was quite expensive at £20 per head, given you could only choose 1 option from the menu, with none of the usual fruit juice and other such smaller items included.
Fabulous room
To get tot eh room at night it was poorly lite and the decking was slippy.
Nice place.. great location and good staff
Expensive therefore not value for money
Great rooms. Lovely staff. Excellent food.
It was beautiful, we arrived early and the team were so accommodating. Had the best nights sleep
The staff, the room, the food, the atmosphere. Thoughtful touches included umbrellas for the walk to the restaurant (25m) in the open air. Will definitely return
Can't think of anything
Lots of space & really comfortable.
Staff were great, room was clean, warm and comfortable and the food was excellent.
Location, facilities, bar
Used to be a lovely fire in each room, but now it's a faux effects, which is a shame. The food has been hit and miss over the last few years. It's still average, rather than exceptional. £40 extra for breakfast is too much for what is offered. Many hotels who charge a similar room price would include breakfast.
