Banyan Tree Shanghai On the Bund

The location was amazing. Most major sightseeing or tourist areas were a short walk or subway ride from the hotel, and there was a ferry station to cross the river about a minute's walk from the hotel. The atmosphere of the hotel was relaxing and luxurious, with good incorporation of nature elements into the space. The rooms were bright and comfortable, with a great view of the river. The large soaker bathtub is bigger than the pictures suggest and comfortably holds two people, and the bathroom space is large and convenient. The service was incredible and the staff were accommodating, and I was very happy with my time there.

There was a slight soft spot in the floor near the bathroom in the hotel room. It wasn't a big deal, but it was a small distraction

The staff in the Chinese restaurant absolutely rude !! I asked them if I could have table they nodded to say no and then spoke to another colleague and laughed very rude and made me uncomfortable where I didn’t even end up eating there

Gorgeous luxury and space on the North Bund. Loved the room, the rooftop bar and spa.

No ironing board in the room. Instructions to get back into the Banyan from the walking track need to be put in place. I would personally change the mens uniforms - they are slightly disturbing. AC could be more responsive.

The view was fantastic, it was within reasonable walking distance to Raffles City and the staff are very helpful and attentive.

The communication with staff here left a lot to be desired. We saved up money and booked a stay here to celebrate our anniversary, as we had seen multiple photos and reviews online of the hotel making special room arrangements for guests for special occasions. I contacted the hotel three times prior to let them know this and they confirmed they would make arrangements for us too. Upon arrival, this was not the case. I informed the front desk and showed them my previous correspondence but no anniversary decorations were in our room when we returned. I provided this feedback to the hotel after our stay and they said the manager would reach out to me via email. It’s been a few weeks now and still haven’t heard anything. I hope the hotel can do better about following through with what they say they will do, because we experienced multiple occasions where this was not the case. Also, note that if you book the room with the panoramic pool, the room will be quite damp and humid.

Zugang zum Schwimmbecken nur mit Badekappe. - Meiden Sie Suiten mit der Nummer x01. Diese haben 180 Grad Blick auf Bürogebäude, nicht auf den Fluss, und bieten wenig Privatsphäre. Uns wurde das als Upgrade angeboten, aber wir würden die Riverside-Räume (King oder Double Twin) jederzeit vorziehen - Englisch - Für ein Haus mit internationalem Anspruch würde es sich anbieten, mehr in die Sprachkenntnisse des Personals an Rezeption und im Service in Restaurants und Bar zu investieren - Checkin - langwierig und umständlich. Bei unserem 2. Aufenthalt innerhalb von 10 Tagen wurden wir behandelt, als wäre wir noch nie Gäste im Haus gewesen. Um 12 Uhr Nachts hat ein Rezeptionist uns Upgrades verkaufen wollen, um dann einzugestehen, dass die gebuchte Raumkategorie nicht verfügbar ist. Peinlich und unangemessen. Wenn so etwas passiert, sollte eine großzügige Lösung VORBEREITET sein und ohne Umschweife offeriert werden.

This hotel has stunning views across the river, the decor is beautiful, the food in the top floor restaurant was delicious and the staff are helpful and efficient.

Everything such a wonderful stay

The room was luxurious, with large floor-to-ceiling windows that offered a clear view of the river. The bathroom was also beautifully designed.

It would be perfect if this room type faced the Bund view.

The Bund Panorama Oasis with Romantic Pool offered a fantastic view of Pudong. The bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of choices.

The warm pool in the middle of the room offered a beautiful view of the Pearl Tower; however, the steam from the bath made the room feel very moist and uncomfortably hot, almost like a steam room.

The front desk was very kind (Albert). The people at the Banyan Lounge were also very kind (Serene). The room was amazing.

The view, the HUGE bath, the bed, the room was large & well appointed, wonderfully helpful staff

The view of the river from the room is wonderful, as promised. The room is very comfortable and facilities are well maintained. The bathroom and spa bath is extremely nice.

Tried to communicate with the hotel staff to help with restaurant booking but was unable to get helpful tips and ended up going to the nearby mall without any reservations, after a long day of flying into shanghai.

The breakfast buffet was amazing. Service was also fantastic. Esp liked the champagne available and pastry choices. We also loved the spa and beautiful rooms

The hotel could have had better wine and liquor choices and the rooftop bar service was very bad. We waited for our table for 20 minutes even though we had a reservation. Also drink quality was not great and service was extremely slow there. Disappointing unfortunately but spectacular views!

The hotel upgraded our room for our honeymoon and my what a view!! The hotel was luxurious, rooms massive, loved being able to sit next to the window on the lounge and the bath also having a view, plus the different scents in the oil burner each day. We also booked last minute another night and the hotel kindly let us stay in the same room without moving.

Nothing would stay again :)

Het overtrof onze verwachtingen. De foto’s van het uitzicht van het zwembad leek gefotoshopt, maar het uitzicht was veel beter dan op de foto. Het ontbijt was heerlijk, met enorm veel keuze. De kamer was ruim en had alles wat je nodig had. Het personeel was enorm vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

We have had a fabulous time in Shanghai and staying at the Banyan Tree, on the Bund. The hotel is Ok. Banyan Tree hotels are a prestigious top quality brand, but sadly this hotel is not. The staff have all been fabulous and the food was great. Our room was very clean and a great size. we had a room overlooking the Bund and the view was amazing. Sadly the room is very tired. Numerous Floor tiles in the bathroom are broken and moving. The doors on the bathroom cabinet are falling to bits. The bathroom is the worst sabby place I have ever stayed in. Rooms, especially the bathrooms need a major refurb. Also the gym has no air conditioning or it wasn't working and there were no gym towels or water. Would not recommend or stay again.

The room is spacious, modern, and nicely designed. The bathroom is large and the view from the jacuzzi/bathtub is beautiful. There’s plenty of storage space for your belongings.

The room was unbearably hot. The AC is central and fixed at 23°C, and the control panel in the room is just for show. When I called reception, they confirmed it’s not functional. The windows face the river, but there’s no proper blackout. Once the sun rises, the entire room fills with light. No soundproofing at all: you hear footsteps upstairs, doors opening and closing, cleaning staff talking loudly from 6AM, and even the boats passing by on the river. Breakfast had very limited options. Definitely not worth it. Most of the reception staff only speak Chinese. I understand this is China, but in a hotel of this price range you would expect staff who can communicate with international guests. The main restaurant closes at 9PM, which makes no sense for a five-star hotel. The room rate is around CNY 2,500 per night, and they take a CNY 2,000 deposit — you basically end up paying double upfront. Stayed for 5 nights, and honestly not a single night was comfortable. The location isn’t great and quite remote The room itself is nice, but the facilities, location and overall experience were very disappointing. Definitely not worth the price and I do not recommend this hotel.

恰逢兒子6歲生日，我們在當地因沒有電話卡無法訂購生日蛋糕，到大廳找服務人員幫忙訂，大廳每位同仁都很熱情的幫忙，早上訂打算晚上在頂樓酒吧慶生，早班人員還特地交代晚班於約定時間送蛋糕到頂樓給孩子一個大驚喜，非常感謝酒店幫忙給孩子一個難忘的回憶，房間乾淨窗外風景另人驚豔，下次去一定會再選擇住這裡
