The location
Complimenti allo staff, tutti gentilissimi e molto professionali

Très très bon séjour
Luxury feel, breakfast
Language barrier - not many in staff spoke English
This is the best hotel in Shanghai ❇️❇️❇️❇️❇️❇️
This is the six star hotel
Amazing view, attentive staff, great location and many other things made our first visit of Shanghai unforgettable ❤️
Everything was amazing. Staff very supportive and nice.
The hotel looks outdated a little bit. The in room dining or SPA is very expensive in my opinion which we wished that it is in normal prices. Location wise is very good but you need taxi to go to nearby famous street.
An Exceptional Stay at Mandarin Oriental Shanghai We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Mandarin Oriental Shanghai and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Shanghai. What impressed us most was the attention to detail throughout the entire hotel. Everything felt thoughtfully designed and exceptionally well maintained. The cleanliness was impeccable, both in the rooms and throughout the hotel. The staff deserves special praise for their warmth, friendliness, attentiveness, and professionalism. We always felt genuinely welcomed and well taken care of, with every interaction being courteous and personal without ever feeling intrusive. The location is excellent, and the views from the hotel were simply beautiful. Our room was not only very comfortable but also impressively equipped, with everything we could have wished for during our stay. A particular highlight was the breakfast. The quality and variety were outstanding, and it was definitely one of the best hotel breakfasts we have experienced. We also greatly appreciated the hotel’s shuttle service to Pudong and some of Shanghai’s main attractions. This was an incredibly convenient and thoughtful service that made exploring the city even more enjoyable. Overall, the Mandarin Oriental Shanghai combines luxury, comfort, exceptional service, and genuine hospitality at the highest level. It is clear that the entire team takes great pride in creating a memorable experience for their guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back in the future. Thank you to the entire team for making our time in Shanghai so special!
nice hotel room good location. very friendly service by the staff - in particular Vicky & Frank. im well taken care of in my stay even in typhoon weather.
Having long admired Mandarin Oriental’s reputation, I chose to stay here—and it truly lives up to its status as a benchmark for ultra-luxury hospitality. At check-in, Judy welcomed me with such grace and warmth. She took the time to patiently walk me through all the hotel amenities, including the opening hours for the swimming pool and restaurants. Throughout my stay, every request I sent via WeChat was answered almost instantly. She struck the perfect balance—never overly formal or effusive, yet thoughtful and attentive in every way. Mandarin Oriental will always be my top choice whenever I travel.
The stay at Mandarin Oriental pudong shanghai was absolutely amazing, this was my first time in china and i definitely recommend this hotel. The mandarin room with a great river view was absolutely stunning. Special mention and thanks to David who provided a seamless service upon check in, he kindly escorted me to the room, providing great care.
Beautiful staff, The best staff!!! Pudong is quiet neighborhood but with a taxi The Bund is just a short drive distance.
Excellent facilities and super friendly and helpful staff.
Everything was superb.
Stayed at the Mandarin Oriental Shanghai for two nights. Beautiful property right along the Huangpu River. At check in, via my Bilt Gold status, I received an upgrade to a Mandarin King river view corner room (originally booked regular Mandarin King), which was undoubtedly the best room view I’ve ever had in a hotel. Highly enjoyed our experience at the Yong Yi Ting 1-star Michelin restaurant. Must tries include the mind blowing Dong Po pork belly and short rib with black truffle. Service quality was inconsistent at times, particularly the breakfast buffet staff (egg station chefs were unfriendly and a server with short hair and glasses ignored me completely when assisting at our table). Check-in reception, room service, and housekeeping staff were excellent, however. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would not hesitate to stay here again next time I visit Shanghai.
I had a wonderful experience at this hotel! The location is perfect, providing easy access to the main points of interest. The staff was exceptionally attentive, friendly, and always ready to help, making my stay even more enjoyable. The room was comfortable, spotless, and very well equipped, ensuring perfectly restful nights. A spectacular view. One of the highlights of my stay was the breakfast. It was truly a brunch every single day, with an outstanding variety of high-quality options, fresh ingredients, and delicious dishes. It exceeded all my expectations and was the perfect way to start each morning. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, an excellent location, impeccable service, and an exceptional breakfast experience.

Best welcoming in my China Tour. All the staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast is delicious, great variety, the taste of all foods is just incredible. One of the chefs brought some dumplings to the table and they were the best dumplings EVER. Richard in the breakfast was very gentle too. You have a Nespresso Machine in the room, which is amazing because sometimes you just want to take a coffee in your space. The view of my room was incredible to the river. Wonderful experience.
I loved everything, but what can be improved: Gym is good but not great. Having some dumbbells up to 50kg, great, but no bars, leg press or peck deck. Which would improve de gym much more. The location is not perfect, they have a shuttle bus to the metro, but it only drops you doesn’t pick you up. The metro is ~20min walking.
Hotel's hospelity is super nice and warm. The staff is very kind. They also help me to order food by app. The room is clean. Even the cleaning service is very kind to arrange our messy stuff. The hotel provide free car to take us anywhere within 2km, which is very convinient to go to super brand mall.
Nothing. Everything is excellent
This stay was part of a three weeks solo trip around China. I arrived really early at the Mandarin Oriental. I was escorted to the lounge for check-in (having booked a Club room) and offered to take breakfast. The breakfast offer in the lounge was superb. The place is quiet and staffed with extremely kind and efficient hosts. You get a buffet and an à la carte menu with Chinese and Western choices. Everything is fresh and made to order. While I was having breakfast in the lounge, the host completed all my check-in formalities and informed me that I was upgraded to a room with better view. When I set foot in that room, the feeling was: WOW. The views are amazing. Directly across the Oriental Pearl tower and the river. At night, it was a wonderful show of lights. The room was clean, comfortable, luxurious with everything one would need. You could tell the attention to details. The bed was exquisite. Everything felt just right. Housekeeping was done perfectly every day and turn down service was always impeccable. I used the laundry service which was very good (club members get 2 items laundered free of charge every day, which is a real plus). I had a treatment at the spa which was nice. I did not use the pool but I did use the gym facilities which are really top notch. The location in Pudong is very good. It is a quieter area. I really enjoyed my stay at the Mandarin. My only regret is this: when I checked-out in the lobby on the day of my departure, the experience was robotic. Not a question about my stay or whether I needed assistance for a taxi or for my luggage. It was in sharp contrast to my experience so far. Also, I requested the bill by email, which I did not receive so I had to send a follow-up message and received it. MO Pudong is really the place to stay in Shanghai. I have very fond memories there and will stay there again when I come back.
The staff was great. Melody in reception on the residence side helped us a lot, also when we were stressed, tired and possibly not the easiest to deal with. Many thanks.
I would like to express our huge appreciation not by the AI but by our own words to everyone in this great hotel! Thanks to your greatest and warmest services, we have had a wonderful holiday in Shanghai. The weather was not ideal however we still enjoyed the trip as each night we slept, stayed and be treated well in the room with stunning view and receiving the best services from Gillian & the Reservation team, Steve & his team at Reception, Joy & the young gentlemen & chauffeurs at Concierge, and everyone (e.g. Richard) in Canteen for breakfast (apologise that I don’t remember the all names), as well as the housekeeping team. I would honestly say your service can be set as the textbook standard in this industry and you must be very proud of what you work for. Once again, we have had wonderful time at this hotel and we definitely and strongly recommend this hotel to our relatives and friends, and certainly everyone who is reading my comment too.
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Staff were friendly and helpful.
There was a service room near my room which was accessed by staff day and night, constantly woke me up.
The overall environment of the hotel was executive and luxurious. The staff was very courteous and professional in every way. Wonderful breakfast lounge with a great variety of cuisine. The view of the Bund from the rooms and the skyline was very charming especially at night. Overall a convenient location close to all tourist attractions. We enjoyed 🥰
One of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in Shanghai. Our flight landed early in the morning, and although our room wasn’t ready yet (which was completely understandable), the hotel made the start of our holiday effortless. We headed straight to the spa, where we were able to shower, change, and enjoy the facilities before exploring the city. The steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and swimming pool were exactly what we needed after a long-haul flight. It couldn’t have been a better way to begin our trip. The location is excellent. Overlooking the Huangpu River with stunning floor-to-ceiling windows, the views are beautiful both day and night. The Bund is just a short distance away, and IFC is within walking distance. The complimentary shuttle service to nearby landmarks and luxury hotels made getting around even more convenient. The room was spacious, modern with an oversized freestanding bath by the window and very comfortable. Waking up to the river view every morning was a highlight of our stay. Breakfast was outstanding, with an extensive selection of both Western and Asian dishes. We especially enjoyed sitting outside by the water whenever the weather allowed—it was a lovely, peaceful way to start the day. What truly sets this hotel apart is the service. Every member of staff we met—from the front desk and concierge to the restaurant spa and bar team—was genuinely warm, professional and attentive. Nothing ever felt too much trouble. Considering the quality of the facilities, the location and the level of service, I genuinely think Mandarin Oriental Shanghai PuDong offers excellent value for money among the city’s luxury hotels. I would happily stay here again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai.
None
The check-in was smooth and welcoming. My room was always clean thanks to the housekeeping team, and the concierge staff were professional, friendly, and full of great recommendations. I also loved how efficient the hotel app was — every request was handled quickly and courteously. Overall, the warmth, professionalism, and dedication of the entire team made my stay exceptional.
Gina was incredibly welcoming and completed room cleaning with great attention to detail. She remained highly attentive to all my needs throughout my stay, and I am consistently pleased with my visits to this hotel. I will absolutely come back as a regular guest and recommend Gina and the hotel to all my friends.
Everything was superb - facilities are excellent, choice of restaurants, superb and comfortable rooms and professional and helpful service.
Nothing - everything was excellent.
Every time we go on holiday, we always stay at 3 or 4 different hotels just to experience what each luxury property has to offer. For my birthday, we chose the Mandarin Oriental Pudong, and it was honestly one of the best decisions we have ever made. The hospitality here is truly world-class, and it is all down to the General Manager, Mr. Emil Leung, and his incredible team. Mr. Leung takes luxury to a whole new level with his constant presence and genuine, personal touch. Right from the moment we arrived at the front entrance, Mr. Li (the Director of Rooms) took amazing care of us and made sure everything was completely seamless. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and had a breathtaking view looking out over the Huangpu River and the Oriental Pearl Tower. Breakfast at Zest was lavish, with a huge variety of food, beautiful upscale presentation, and premium quality. I also want to mention Allan, the restaurant manager, who took the time to have a nice little chat with me every single morning. The Executive Club Lounge was absolutely superb. We loved the quiet, peaceful atmosphere, and the space itself was huge and spotless. The food presentations were top-tier, using the finest ingredients, and evening cocktail hour had a massive selection of high-quality drinks. The lounge staff were so professional and helpful—nothing was ever too much trouble for them. A huge thank you to Linda, Sweetie, Thomas, and the rest of the team whose names I missed, for making our stay such a pleasure. We also had the pleasure of meeting the Head Chef, Stephane, who took the time to chat with my wife and me. I cannot praise him enough for the hard work he and his team put into creating such amazing food. Last but certainly not least, the GM, Mr. Emil Leung, made an impression on us that we will never forget. Shanghai is a massive city of over 21 million people, but we felt so lucky to meet Mr. Leung, who is a truly refined gentleman. His thoughtful gestures throughout our stay left us completely speechless. Mr. Li was also fantastic, and he is very fortunate to have a mentor with such incredible charm, talent, and quality. With Mr. Leung’s guidance, Mr. Li will definitely reach the absolute top of his profession. To sum it all up, this was one of the best holidays we have ever experienced, and it is entirely thanks to Mr. Leung, Mr. Li, and their team. You can truly feel their passion and kindness in everything they do. I honestly felt like I was among friends, and I already miss everything about this hotel. We’ve stayed at plenty of luxury hotels around the world, but none have the magic touch or the genuine human kindness of this team. Whenever we find our way back to Shanghai, this will absolutely be our number-one choice. Hopefully, I will have the privilege of meeting you all again. Hand on heart, sincerely, Karl and Jera Blake
One of the best hotel stays I've had. The location is fantastic, spectacular views of the Bund and Huangpu river without the noise. The Club Mandarin room was spacious and luxurious, with a large round bathtub. The staff were welcoming and the club lounge and restaurants provided elegant dining experiences. Cannot fault the stay, highly recommend.
amazing view cozy and spacious room friendly staff who speak English
the breakfast had lot of western and Chinese choices but i was expecting to be better for a 5-star hotel i
La posizione la tranquillità la piscina
There was a Overseas delegation there, we cnt be dropped off in front of hotel n the staff are not attentive when guests going through security check with all those preformance n security standing around. I hv sent a feedback to the hotel mgr's email but no reply. Really disappointed.
Location was great, we had a corner river view room, close to Bund ferry, Oriental Perl and Aquarium. Breakfast was very good, staff were friendly.
Staff service level at breakfast was not consistent over the duration of our stay.

I recently spent five nights in an Executive River View Room at Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai, and the entire stay was truly memorable. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the warm welcome, professional attitude, and thoughtful attention to detail shown by the hotel team. The room was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, with an excellent view of the Huangpu River and the Shanghai skyline. It was a pleasure to return to such a relaxing environment after a busy day. The facilities were of a high standard, but what made the experience particularly special was the service provided by the staff. I would especially like to thank Steven from the Front Office team for his professionalism, warm hospitality, and assistance throughout my stay. His attentive service made the arrival and overall experience smooth and enjoyable. I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to Lucas, Victoria, Amanda, Cindy, and Angela from the Housekeeping team. They took excellent care of the room and consistently paid attention to the smallest details. Everything was kept exceptionally clean and well organized, and their thoughtful service made me feel genuinely welcomed and valued as a guest. Mandarin Oriental Pudong offers an excellent combination of luxury, comfort, personalized service, and value for money. Compared with many other luxury hotels in Shanghai, it provides a very competitive experience without compromising the high standards expected from the Mandarin Oriental brand. The staff members are clearly committed to creating memorable experiences for their guests. Overall, my five-night stay was extremely enjoyable, and I left with a very positive impression of the hotel. I would gladly recommend Mandarin Oriental Pudong to anyone visiting Shanghai, whether for business or leisure. I look forward to returning in the future and experiencing the hotel’s wonderful hospitality again.
The pool closes at 11pm, but the life guard asked people to leave at 10:40. Two days ago the same guy did the same thing. Can’t believe this is a five star facility. If he hates his job so much, he probably shouldn’t work here Also some tiles on the pool floor are broken
The Mandarin Oriental Shanghai Pudong is a hotel of genuine highs and frustrating lows. For the price and the brand, the gaps are hard to overlook. Let's start with the best part: the spa. I've been to the MO Bangkok spa — widely regarded as one of the finest in Asia and a crown jewel of the MO portfolio — and the Shanghai spa stands shoulder to shoulder with it. From the moment I walked in and had my assessment done, I felt an immediate, deep sense of calm. Absolute elegance and tranquility in the middle of one of the world's most frenetic cities. My masseuse found every knot and used exactly the right pressure. I fell asleep on the table. I would have gone back every single day if my wallet had permitted. Breakfast was also a highlight. The spread was generous and the quality was high — the live Chinese dumpling station was both delicious and fun to watch, the honeycomb was a lovely touch, juices were fresh and the gelato station added a playful note. No complaints here. The room was a good size — a riverview suite with a large tub, dedicated luggage storage, a clothes hanging area, study desk and a spacious bathroom. There were fresh flowers on arrival, which was a thoughtful touch, and a cake and fruit had been arranged to celebrate our upcoming wedding, which we appreciated. But that's largely where the polish ends. For a hotel of MO's stature, the service inconsistencies were glaring. It seemed like staff were overwhelmed, or perhaps not trained to be detailed enogh for MO. It was absolutely odd that such small touches were not displayed throughout our stay! Staff promptly took our luggage from the car on arrival — good. But after check-in, not a single member of staff pressed the lift for us or offered to show us to our room. No introduction to the facilities or amenities whatsoever. The Taipei MO did this without being asked, courteously and naturally. It's such a basic, foundational gesture for a luxury property that its absence here was jarring. Turndown service was inconsistent throughout the stay. No amenity was ever left — not an essential oil, not a small snack, nothing beyond the standard water and slippers. A curtain issue on the first night was resolved the following day (fair enough), and to their credit, they followed up with a generous portion of macarons as service recovery. But when I left a note requesting sparkling water, it was simply ignored — no water, no note explaining it wasn't available, no acknowledgement at all. And the fresh flowers that arrived so beautifully on day one were visibly fraying by day three, left untouched by housekeeping. The flooring in our room showed its age — scuffed and dated in a way that doesn't befit the brand. The automatic blinds, perhaps installed when it first opened made an irritating jarring noise whenever we opened and closed it. At breakfast, I noticed that one or two male staff members had noticeable body odour. I raise this not to shame anyone, but because at this level of hospitality, the guest experience is built on a hundred small details — and this is one that a well-run operation simply doesn't miss. It pointed to a broader issue with staff presentation and standards. Compounding this, English comprehension among staff at breakfast was limited, though they tried their best, which made interactions awkward. The contrast with the Taipei MO — where staff were polished, multilingual (English, Japanese, Korean), proactive and genuinely attentive — was stark. The most tone-deaf moment came at breakfast, when a manager approached our table and attempted to sell us a package deal for a future stay. Perhaps it plays well with a local clientele, but at a flagship luxury property that caters to international guests, it felt crass and entirely out of place (they could have done so at checkout instead). It read less like hospitality and more like a timeshare pitch. The MO Shanghai Pudong has the bones of a great hotel and a wonderful spa. But the service culture needs a serious reset — the Taipei MO is proof of what this brand is capable of when it's firing on all cylinders. Right now, Shanghai isn't there.
Everything very good sehr freundliches Personal
Kelly and Angela are excellent and helpful. Keep our room clean. Great service and helpful.
Great hotel with friendly staff and impeccable service. Would recommend coming here, especially for tea!
A cama era incrível
Gostei de tudo
Hotel is a little old, but good overall in facilities and comfort. However, I would advise you to go elsewhere. The capitalistic undertones here ruined my stay. 1) The hotel hosted a foreign delegate during my stay. This inconvenienced all guests including myself. There were security checks before hotel entry (I was pat down like a foreigner entering the US), vehicles were not able to enter the street the hotel was on (we had to walk 3 minutes out of the hotel to get into our car and on the way back), and as a result of all other guests accompanying the delegate, I was given an extremely low floor room. All this would have been fine had I not spent more than 300USD per night for the room. Mind you, this is not luxury by any means, but is very expensive for Shanghai. I was not informed of this conflict, and I would absolutely NOT have stayed at the hotel knowing this. Then there was ZERO service recovery as if the hotel did not profit off this foreign host at the cost of other guests. 2) I was then asked to pay for an "upgrade" to a higher floor following the above. I would have gladly paid if the hotel was naturally full, but on top of the inconvenience, the lack of communication, this was just the nail in the coffin. So do NOT stay here. I respect the Mandarin Oriental brand and have stayed in others, but I personally would not come again.
The room was spotlessly clean, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the overall environment was very comfortable. Very pleasant experience.

The customer focus. The luxury. Its outstanding.
I have a great stay in MOPUD. Even there was some tiny difficulty during the stay, the team handled it with extra effort and showed their way of hospitality and professionalism. Special thanks to Steven for his excellent service, patience and the gift he prepared. Sadly the spa was fully booked, hope to visit them next time.
Came with my son and this Mandarin is truly a great place to stay. The staff are very welcoming all the time . The house keeping , especially Vicky and the manger Frank were the best.. no to small request was a bother to them and items to our room were delivered very fast. I would highly recommend the Mandarin in Shanghai .
Choosing this place for my trip was a wise decision. Frank was diligent and responsible, and his attentive and warm service made the whole trip exceptionally pleasant. He even prepared an umbrella for me and told me about the rainy weather for my trip the next day. So thoughtful!
Excellent services, variety of breakfast choices and a very nice staff.
Amazing riverfront location and friendly staff.
Our stay at Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai was absolutely perfect from beginning to end. The hotel truly made us feel at home with its warm hospitality, attentive service, and genuine care for every detail throughout our stay. Every staff member was professional, welcoming, and thoughtful, creating such a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. A very special thank you to Manager Leo Xu for his outstanding assistance and kindness. His professionalism, attention to detail, and sincere care made our experience especially memorable and flawless. This was one of the best hotel stays we have ever had, and we are truly grateful for the wonderful memories created here. We cannot wait to return to Mandarin Oriental Shanghai again in the future.
The Mandarin Oriental is honestly just a really solid hotel. Rooms are comfortable, service is sharp, and everything runs smoothly without feeling stuffy. It's expensive, but you get what you pay for. Special thanks to Tina—she was helpful, down to earth, and made things easy when I needed it. No over-the-top fuss, just good service. Appreciate it.
"During my stay at the Mandarin Oriental, Pudong, Shanghai, I have to commend Tina from housekeeping! My room was kept spotless and tidy every day – she even neatly organized the charging cable by my bedside. What really stood out was her incredible politeness; she would greet me with a warm smile every time we met in the hallway and kindly ask if I needed anything. This genuine, heartfelt service truly made me feel at home. I'll definitely choose this hotel again. Thank you, Tina!"

Nice hotel, very good room service from Tina. Great gym. Only issue is the breakfast buffet is not very nice.
What a pleasant stay at the Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai ✨ Great location with a nice harbour walk nearby, and only 15mins walk to the main central. The room was incredibly quiet, and the cleanliness was exceptionally well maintained. A special thanks to Tina, who took such thoughtful care of us, making sure I had my pregnancy pillow and 10 bottles of good water every day. Really appreciated her attention to detail and kindness throughout our stay. However, I do think the breakfast could be improved slightly. The selection of cleaner meat options at the buffet was quite limited, and many dishes were covered with heavy sauces. Anyway, we got the best babymoon time 🤍
Nice and tidy. Thank you Kelly and Angela!
Visited for a birthday and was given a free upgrade.
