Reviewed Aug 29, 2026今回車で伺ったのですが、ホテルのエントランス部分に近づくと、おかみさん？を筆頭に、スタッフの方々のお出迎えをして頂き、最初から良いホテルだと思いました。その後のスタッフの対応も素晴らしく、ホテルから周囲の眺望もとても良かったです。リラックスできました。
スタッフの対応とても良く、気分良く夕食を頂けました。夕食で頂いた漬物や食前酒なども美味しく思い、帰りに購入したかったのですが、ホテル内のお土産店では売ってなかったようです。お土産でも販売して頂きたかったです。

Reviewed Aug 16, 2026The Hotel Shoho is an exceptional onsen ryokan. The staff go out of their way to be helpful, using translation apps to facilitate communication in English or other languages. The views across Matsumoto and the Japanese Alps are breathtaking from the main lobby and from the individual rooms. The afternoon drinks reception was a nice touch, and the kaiseki dinner was memorable. We were able to arrange massages at the last minute, and the therapist was excellent. Our room included an open-air private onsen bath, so we didn't try the private baths. The hotel is located a little ways outside of Matsumoto, so it felt like an oasis of calm.

Reviewed Jul 24, 2026Incredibly polite staff, excellent service. The baths were well stocked and clean. The Kaiseki dinner was truly excellent and the wait staff gave us lots of information on what we were eating. Our tatami room was spacious with an amazing view.
The bathroom in our room was a bit old. But it was still very functional and clean, so not an issue

Reviewed Jun 17, 2026最悪だったホテル 部屋に入るなりトイレ臭。部屋の床が青カビが生えたようでとても不快に思った。壁は壁紙が剥がれていて貧乏臭かった。源泉かけながしの謳い文句の部屋風呂は狭くてガッカリ。窓は転落対策のためだろうが10センチ位しか開かずまたまたガッカリ。二度とあそこは行きません。

Reviewed Jun 1, 2026The hotel staff were very helpful and looked after our bikes for us. The onsen was absolutely stunning. We didn’t make the dinner but we had the ramen in the hotel which was just what we needed after a long ride. The view was great if the mountains and the city. It was a big hotel but it didn’t feel too big or too many people.
It was on the outskirts of town so a little far out if you needed to go back in town. We were happy not to leave as we got there late and left the next morning.

The constant sound of water from the bath. The food was average at the breakfast buffet. The place was just so big, it was like a function centre and it was quite dated. The two men at the front desk seemed a little grumpy and didn't engage or reciprocate smiles.

I also had a special request as needed help from the staff and they were excellent communicators and were incredibly helpful - honestly couldn't thank them enough! The staff were fabulous. It was very easy to get here by car and the parking was great. Thank you again Shoho!!

פקידת הקבלה היתה פחות נחמדה אבל כעקרון שאר אנשי הצוות היו אדיבים ועוזרים. המלון ממוקם מחוץ לעיר.ואין בסביבה שלו מקומות להסתובב או לצאת אליהם.

Reviewed Apr 11, 2026Absolutely massive room, exactly as pictured in the listing photos. Incredible expansive view of the Japanese alps, and gorgeous free-standing open-air bath. There was a spacious living room with fresh coffee beans and a grinder, local treats sent to the room to sample each day with the towel delivery, a large toilet room, shower and double vanity basins. The breakfast was Japanese style buffet with amazing range of choice, and everything was fresh. Bus stop a few steps away, takes you straight into town and to Matsumoto castle.

Slightly dated feeling and unused smell in some of the corridors - just a bit stale but nothing major. No separate shower cubicle to the onsen bathroom.
