It’s an old-fashioned backpackers hostel, so expect thin walls and the occasional noisy guest.

隔音還是不太好，但還不會太誇張，大家晚上都很安靜。 浴室蓮蓬頭是固定的，水壓也比較小一點，所以比較難沖洗。

Reviewed Jun 7, 2026Excellent hostel! Was there in winter and overall the hostel was warm and cosy. I had a private room with a desk and great bed, heater and plenty of warm bedding. Lovely seating area and trees in the front garden. Off street parking for about 7 cars as well as plenty of street parking and reasonable walk to the centre of town. As well as onsite managers, plenty of young working holiday staff to keep everything clean and friendly. The yummy home made free chocolate pudding at night (with encouragement to 'put down the phone and interact' ) works to build a good social vibe. Kitchen is large with water filters and plenty of storage space. Good quality guitars and keyboard in the lounge were such a bonus- we had some great jams and fun times playing music in the comfortable lounge, while others played chess/board games or read on the many sofas in front the log fire. I was sorry to leave :)
Nothing, it's one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at.

Reviewed May 29, 2026Tasman Bay Backpacker is the perfect stay to have a rest. The house and garden are light and spacious with plenty of room to gather or to have time alone. Staff is friendly and respectfull. The kitchen invites to cook. The facilities are clean. A real gem amongst the backpackers. The chocolate pudding is a welcome plus and super delicious.

It has really clean bathrooms, rooms and a great kitchen with lots of storage space and even filter coffee! Has an awesome outdoor area around the hostel for relaxing and has lots of boardgames and instruments to keep you amused on rainy days.

There was no locker or shelf to put your things. Just one chair and a table, and a few hooks on the wall. I used the other bed, but if it would have been two people in that room our stuff would have been on the floor or crowding the table&chair. If you don't mind that then you'll be good.
