My family of 5 and I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Golden before and after our cruise and would happily recommend it. The location is excellent and it truly offers great value for your money. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and well cared for, which made it a pleasure to return to at the end of each day. The family who runs the hotel is incredibly kind and attentive. They made us feel very welcome from the start, and their hospitality really stood out. When we first booked, Giuseppe personally reached out to confirm our reservation, which was a thoughtful and reassuring touch. During our stay, they were always happy to help and even arranged a taxi for us each day, making everything very easy and stress free. The surrounding area is also very convenient. There is a café on the corner for a quick breakfast, and just around another corner you will find a small restaurant if you prefer to sit down and enjoy a proper breakfast. Nearby there is also a small corner store, and directly across the street is a pizza parlor where you can grab some fabulous and inexpensive pizza for lunch or dinner. Overall, Hotel Golden is a lovely place to stay with a welcoming atmosphere, a fantastic location, and exceptional value. I would gladly stay here again.
Great family owned and ran hotel. The family are very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean. Very close to Borghese park and the US Embassy. Short walk to the Spanish steps and Trevi Fountain.
Boutique hotel near Borghese park. Clean, thoughtful caring staff, family owned and operated. No breakfast but cafes near by. Comfortable but small rooms with good beds and linens. Very safe and secure building, must be buzzed in. Giuseppe was usually on the desk and his help with cabs and fantastic local restaurants was very much appreciated. We would definitely stay here again.
Very nice welcoming staff
Nothing
Excellent location, rooms are very clean and staff were all exceptionally helpful. Close to bus and metro stops and central to all of Romes historical destinations. Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain only a 10-15 minute walk. Local restaurants are literally steps away. I highly recommend this hotel.
Giuseppe and Manuel were very helpful and kind. The room is spacious. Buses and metro very close to the hotel. Good restaurants around. To be recommended if you don’t want to stay in the middle of the antique Rome.
It is a nice family-owned hotel and our stay was pleasant.
My husband and I absolutely loved our stay here! The room was so beautiful and the location was great! The best part was probably the staff though - it is a family-owned business and we got to meet several of the family members. They were all so kind, helpful, and flexible both before and during our trip. They stored and cared for our luggage when we arrived early and were willing to offer an incredibly early check-out as well. We appreciated their delicious restaurant recommendations as well! We highly recommend this hotel! :)
The property was in a great location, walkable to all major sites and was kept clean, staff was very friendly, only thing I did not like was the fact I could hear everyone checking in and out from my room and all conversations in the lobby at all hours of the night, I was in the room next to the reception desk on the right which I feel is not a great spot to have a room, could also hear everyone going up and down the stairs
Very friendly and helpful staff
It was such a pleasure staying with this amazing family! The hotel was clean, the service was incredible. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for the Roman family experience!
It is a family owned property. The owner was incredibly helpful with restaurant recommendations, ordering taxi/limo service and general info of the neighbourhood. We appreciated it was walkable to main attractions. Would definitely recommend.
Comfortable, convenient. A lovely stay.
Location was perfect. Nice restaurants and coffee place less than 50 yards. Will stay again.
We visited this family-owned hotel back in 2016 and decided we really wanted to stay here. When the opportunity came up to arrange our lodging for this trip, we booked our stay. We reserved a Classic Double based on the photographs on their website. The photographs make the room look much larger than it was. First of all, they need to correct their website, the first image you see is: “To make a great start to your day. Mamma Teresa awaits you with a delicious breakfast. Fresh products and impeccable service!”. This has not been offered since Covid, and that was in 2020. I really think they can change the website to inform their prospective guests that breakfast is no longer being offered. The rooms are very clean and very quiet. Our room really should be called a Classic Single as it had only one chair; there was only room for one luggage rack; there was very little room on either side of the bed to get in or out (check out our pictures), if one person was seated at the desk and the other person wanted to get by, they had to get up. The bed was hard as a rock. The air conditioning could not be controlled – it was only cold. The TV instructions were not clear. Thankfully, there was a fridge in the desk. The closet is not deep enough for standard clothes hangers, so your clothes hung side ways. The bathroom had its own problems – the hair dryer was a left over from the 70’s; the sink was new and there was a bidet; the toilet seat was not fastened property to the toilet (it was slightly askew and firmly attached). The best part of the bathroom was the rain shower head in the shower and hot water pressure. Needless to say, we were very disappointed in our stay.
We only stayed one night and had a great experience. All the family members we met were personable and provided excellent customee service.
What a wonderful family run business
Charming family owned boutique hotel with easy access to most major tourist attractions. Quiet and very clean. Would highly recommend.
Giuseppe was extremely helpful in assisting with parking for the rental car and was able to snswer any questions i had about the city.
Charming family run hotel full of character! In a quiet neighborhood away from the touristy areas. Staff was a bit distant upon arrival, but warmed up to us later. Older property, to be sure, but well kept. Bathrooms could use some updating and better amenities, but adequate.
Clean, business friendly, convenient
This hotel is wonderful! The room was spotlessly clean, everyday. The location was great, quiet, close enough to walk, and directly across from Borghese Gardens. The family who owns this hotel is fantastic, providing restaurant suggestions, all were great, and even a suggestion for a lavanderia. E would definitely stay again and recommend this hotel to everyone.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Rome. The property was exceptionally clean and well maintained, which made our visit very comfortable. Its location is excellent—just a short walk from many of the city’s main attractions, making it easy to explore Rome on foot. The staff was outstanding: always friendly, attentive, and quick to respond to any requests. Their warm hospitality truly enhanced our experience. Another highlight was the hotel’s proximity to a wide variety of excellent restaurants, which gave us the chance to enjoy authentic Roman cuisine right around the corner. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.
The owner/family are very helpful during our stay. The room is clean.
Average hotel
This is a family run hotel. The communication from the time of booking onward was fantastic. The room was very clean, quiet and very safe. The location was perfect! It is a 10-20 min walk to all of the major sites. Both restaurants and stores were just steps away. I would highly recommend staying at the Golden Hotel.
Update webpage, is not updated, example: Breakfast included, is not available now, is good to clarify. Offer elevator when customer come in with baggage. Tks
Quietness and promptness in reply to all my questions
Hotel Golden was a wonderful family run boutique hotel. The staff was friendly, helpful and informative when answering our questions. Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and attended to daily. We all received hugs from one of the owners when we left. Overall, our experience was a 10 out of 10!
Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, rooms were very clean and comfortable.
Hotel Golden was a great home base for us for a stay in Rome! Giuseppe and Manuele were the best hosts and gave great recommendations for dinner and Apertivo nearby! We will be back, hopefully soon!!
Great hotel
Air conditioning not working properly, dangerous layout for falling ,space between bathroom and toilet non existent ,coffee out in the hallway with literally a kettle and coffee no sugar no creamer, access to the property makes you feel like a child you have to call them to open the main door after 11 I think it is it’s a family run business but they are rude and not very friendly would not stay here for free
The staff was very welcoming, it feels like home
Very friendly, family owned, small hotel
Guiseppe and his family were absolutely amazing! We enjoyed out stay very much :)
This hotel has great service and the rooms are clean nice staff however they have a no guest policy and you have to ring a door bell to enter the building and after midnight you have to call them on WhatsApp to be let into the building which is kinda of annoying hopefully they fix this in the near future and the rooms are paper thin so you can hear your neighbours…beside that close to restaurants
Just returned from two weeks staying at this property and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Rome. Giuseppe and his family made us feel like part of the family. A quaint 15 room family run hotel in a great part of town just a 10 minute walk from all the hustle and bustle of downtown Rome. More than a dozen restaurants within a 5 minute walk away, a coffee shop just outside the front door, a minute mart and a small grocery store just down the street. The hotel itself is on the quiet second floor of a building. The rooms were well furnished and required everything needed as a home base while touring Rome and other parts of the country for two weeks. Giuseppe and family always there with a smile and assisting with any question you may have. Our flight to come back to the U.S. was cancelled the evening before we were scheduled to return. As I frantically made arrangements to re-schedule our flight, and airport transportation, Giuseppe was amazing with extending our stay the additional night without even making us change rooms. His response with a smile was "No worries, I will take care of you". We knew we made the right choice by staying at Hotel Golden but that confirmed that there was no other place in Rome I would rather be than staying with Giuseppe and his family business. If you are looking for the hometown, family feel of Rome this is your place to stay. The people make the difference and Hotel Golden made us feel like family.
Stayed here for a few nights upon our arrival to Rome before taking the train to Florence. Hotel has the most amazing helpful staff unfortunately our luggage somehow didn’t make it to Rome with us. The hotel owner was so kind as to contact baggage claim for us and tried his best to help us find our luggage, we are checking out and headed to Florence without luggage but was so impressed with how amazing the staff at Hotel Golden are. I would stay here again simply for this fact… hotel was quiet, AC was amazing, cute clean room with all that was needed for a quick stay. Located within walking distance to Spanish steps, Trevi fountain, and a few plazas. Great coffee shop located below hotel on bottom floor.
Comfortable bed
Convenient
Very nice family business with a convenient location. We were well taken care of.
This was a pretty sad place. It was advertised as having a mini-fridge. It had one but it did not work. The mattress was pretty good but the bed was falling apart. It said it had a window. It did but it was not something that one would look out of. I looked into a small dark hole that was too nasty to even open the curtains. The family running the place could get pretty noisy as they called to one another from the front desk and down the hallway. The worst though is that after our stay we could not find a way to leave a review, at least not on expedia where we had booked. The reviews that I read before booking cannot be real. The family running the place were nice enough but clearly they were very used to deflecting the misleading claims. A funny place. There were brochures in the lobby but they were years old. The creaky, old fashioned elevator was kind of fun.
The hotel in general is clean as well as the room. Enough towels and the bedding was comfortable. The TV had a lot of options of channels. The Hotel is an old building, so it has its charm, room is small and not too much sun light but again, clean. There IS NOT COFFEE anywhere in the hotel common areas nor in the room. The hair dryer is very old, it's ok to dry your hair BUT if you are looking to get a style you better bring your own. This hotel is family own, what I like, a lady received us, and she was nice. The other members were not very friendly, very serious and they didn't talk too much. Not even a smile. I guess because they live in the same building, they don't have a specific dress attire as regular hotel employees. The hotel is about 15min walk away from the major tourist attractions and activities in general, and if you are planning to walk to those places there is a lot of hills up and down, so be ready for a workout.
An exceptionally clean, friendly and well-located Hotel! Truly, the family couldn’t do enough to make our stay in Rome amazing!
As we were on a budget, we booked Hotel Golden after reading great reviews on Tripadvisor. It felt like we were staying in the family's home as opposed to a standard hotel, as it is a family run hotel with about 15 rooms on Level 1 of the building, with the family also residing in the building. You need to buzz for access from the street, so it's very secure. The beds were comfortable enough, the TV had great channels and the bathroom had a powerful shower. As it was a heat wave in summer, to have a room with air conditioning was very a wonderful relief. Nearby to the hotel were some great supermarkets for food, snacks or drinks. Supermercato Tigre (5 min walk) - Via Toscana, 3B, 00187, had alcohol, drinks, snacks, cheeses/dips/salami (if you want to have an easy cheap meal in your room or at a park). Decò Gourmet (7 min walk) - Corso d'Italia, 32/F, 00198, had fresh croissants (cornetto)/cheese sticks/bakery items delivered every morning (all at cheap prices) which we used for breakfast every single day, opens 8am Mon-Sat, 9am Sunday. Buying food like this (croissants/carton of juice etc) meant spending around 10 Euros total for 3 people for breakfast which was an affordable price for an enjoyable meal rather than spending it at a restaurant. Sometimes we ate back at the hotel or went to a park. Some feedback for the hotel: The website could benefit with an update to avoid receiving negative feedback, as currently it displays incorrect information, for instance: The website says homemade breakfast is available 7:30am - 10:00am, however they currently DO NOT offer breakfast, therefore I'm not sure why this information hasn't been removed from the website. The website also says an iron is available (which I did not see) - maybe you need to ask for this at reception. The website says check-out is 12:00am (which is actually midnight), so it really needs to say 12:00pm (or otherwise 12:00 noon) which is the correct check-out time. Overall, Hotel Golden feels more like a 3-star hotel rather than 2-star, though maybe it is due to the lack of some of the facilities available in each room. e.g. no kettle/coffee machine. I did see a kettle in the hallway, though not sure if it was for guest use. It didn't have coffee or milk nearby so not sure what it was for. Also, their website says minibar which to me infers it has drinks/snacks in it, yet it was just a small empty fridge. I liked the fridge as I bought my owns drinks/food to store in it, however it should be noted as fridge available, rather than minibar. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Golden and feel if their website had a refresh to correct some errors it would benefit them.
We didn’t appreciate not having a key to our room.
Hotel Golden is ran by a family who are incredibly welcoming! We also appreciated the very-good working AC in the summer heat.
The hotel owners attitude
Hotel Golden is a charming family-run hotel! The location is safe, convenient, and Guiseppe and family have great recommendations! Would easily stay here again!
This is a small family run hotel. Nothing like a “big box” American hotel. The lobby and hotel are on the 2nd floor with access via stairs or a classic gate elevator. (Very cool). This is like a combo between a boutique hotel and B&B, minus the breakfast. What really sets it apart is the staff. It is owned and run by a family and while we were there we felt like their American cousins who had come for a visit. You can find fancier hotels, but unlikely to find in where you matter as much.
This hotel is family ran. Very friendly and helpful staff that speak several languages including English, Spanish, and Italian. The host even called a taxi for our super early checkout for our return flight. Hotel was very quiet and a short walk to Spanish stairs. Lots of eating options in the area and it’s located right outside a big park. Wish we had booked this place for more time.
This is an old building in down town Rome. Built in 1820’s. The hotel is family owned and was comfortable. Owner was very accommodating and offered some great local tips and advise. Saved us a bunch of euro’s. This is not the usual large hotels we were used to staying in. Great place to stay overnight while we waited for our cruise.
Very friendly family owned Hotel.
My wife and I recently stayed 3 nights at Hotel Golden. What a lovely experience! This is a family-run hotel and it shows in everything they do. The front desk staff were polite and helpful and spoke excellent English. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The hotel is in a lovely neighbourhood with many great coffee shops and restaurants within a few blocks. We felt safe and secure at all times of the day and night. The building is incredibly charming with an old-world feel that we really loved. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and can recommend it without question.
Accommodations were sufficient for showering and sleeping. Giuseppe was helpful to get us transportation and made recommendations for restaurants. The big disappointment was arriving only to find out there is no breakfast provided as stated in the marketing descriptions. It would be appropriate to remove this from your marketing. It was one of the reasons we selected Hotel Golden.
Stayed here for one night in May 2025 at the beginning of a trip that encountered multiple problems. At every turn of events, Giuseppe delivered amazing service. From my husband's lost passport, to our not having a hotel due to cruise deniaĺ of boarding due to the missing passport, he did absolutely everything that he could to help us. I am so grateful to him. Already booked another stay here in May 2026! They really do treat you like family!
Very very clean and staff were kind and accommodating.
Owner is very kind and accommodating. The place very clean and well maintained. I’ll give my stay exceptional!!! I highly recommend
Excellent
The hotel is very nice, clean, the beds were confortable, the staff was very friendly, we felt very safe and loved that it was family owned
This was a lovely hotel, they went out of their way to help us and made us feel at home! Perfect score!
We liked the character of the property and the location, very handy to everything.
Very clean. Ow ers are very friendly and helpful. Trip advisor says free breakfast but they do not offer breakfasts. Location is good and fairly close to hop on hop off busses. Lot of shopping close by and a great many restaurants. Very safe are.
Very lovely clean and quiet hotel. We stayed in the family room as we were 3 people. Very spacious. Take the via veneto exit from the subway. Be aware it’s an incline walk to the hotel. Not too bad but just something to be aware of. Safe area.
It is family-run. I am 82 and my wife is 79, and we could walk to the Bourghesie Gardens, the Colosseum, Vatican, etc.
My dad and I recently stayed here for 5 nights. Here's what I loved: The family who owns the hotel was incredible. Some of them are outgoing, some are more reserved, but all were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We had the family suite, which was very spacious. 2 large bedrooms, each with a king bed, closet, desk, and window that opened up overlooking the street. One room also had a couch. The main room had a dining table and chairs. Cleanliness and housekeeping service were top notch. Location was perfect for us - easy walking distance to all the big sights (Vatican was the farthest with a 40-45 min walk) but removed from the very touristy areas. The neighborhood was fairly quiet at night. There were some good options for eating close by. Several coffee shops that were good for breakfast and some great restaurants for dinner. At our request, they arranged for a driver to pick us up at the airport and take us back when we were departing. This worked perfectly for us. Excellent communication before our stay. I sent a few emails with questions, and I always got a speedy and helpful response. In my opinion, this hotel was excellent value. Very reasonable cost for a huge 2 bedroom suite. There is nothing that I didn't like about this hotel, and I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. Overall an awesome experience!
This is a basic hotel. Nothing fancy. Some might even call it a little dated. What sets them apart is their service. It is run by a dedicated family that takes such good care of their guests. Giuseppe was so kind to us when we had travel difficulties and went above board to solve them for us. Even after we had checked out! Such kindness is truly appreciated. I would heartily recommend this hotel to any traveling to Rome. And if I return to Rome, this is exactly where I hope to stay!
Excellent value for money. If you are in Rome for Rome and you need a room to only sleep in, this is the place for you. The hotel is quiet, very conveniently located next to villa Borghese and within 10 min walk from the subway.
My husband and I stayed in the family suite with my 82-yr old mother. It was perfect for us. The two bedrooms were very big and comfortable, and there was a good size common area with a large bathroom. Giuseppe and his family were very friendly and helpful. Giuseppe would make sure to let me know how much the taxi fare should be so I didn’t get overcharged. He was very concerned with our comfort while we were there. The hairdryer was the only thing that I was disappointed with. It didn’t have enough power to dry my thick hair well. Other than that, everything was wonderful! There’s a coffee shop right next door so perfect place to start the day. There were restaurants and shopping very close.
V much enjoyed our three nights at the Hotel Golden —-yes the room was small, but the bed was comfy, the room dark and v quiet at night, the shower excellent/the Aur Con was great-location was so convenient for our needs —and we found a nice bar,and Restaurant v close by—The staff were v helpful, especially Guiseppe and Mattel —And,by Rome standards,we thought it was v good value.-Will be recommending to all
The family running this hotel were amazing. We really enjoyed our stay. We look forward to coming back again. The location was perfect.
Guisseppi, Mateo and Marie Theresa could not have been more accommodating. It was a pleasure and will be sure to return on our next trip to Rome. Gratzie Paisans!
The service was outstanding
My son and me stayed here for 3 nights and were really pleased about the service and warm welcome! They were very helpful by giving tips and suggestions about everything we asked. They also arranged easily a taxi for us every time we needed and they even spoke perfect Spanish (our mother language). The room is basic, but not wrong at all! Location is perfect! 12 min walk to Fontana di Trevi and surrounded by a nice neighborhood full of cafes and restaurants. Thanks Giuseppe and Matteo! Hope we can ever come back! Greetings from Carolina & Santiago.
This is a family run hotel in a property that must have seen it glorious days. But it is well maintained and the age of the property add character which is a very nice change from the typical newer hotel. Also the friendliness of the people managing the property more than make for the lack of newer facility. I would like to specially mention the gentleman at the front desk name Giuseppe. He is always ready to help and provide good suggestions.
It was in a good location right near the Borghese Gardens, convenient to walk to many things good restaurants in the area that were recommended by the owner it was very clean the room with daily cleaning service
This accommodation is a family business and provides very personal service. The location was in walking distance to many attractions and dining options. Our room was clean and comfortable with a large bathroom (steps to access bathroom). The hotel is secure from street and building. Thank you- we would stay again.
Great location. Great staff. Family-oriented
We enjoyed two nights in Rome at Hotel Golden. Very unique place. Impeccable service. Staff is very helpful. We would stay there again!
Hotel Golden is in the perfect location when visiting Rome! It’s a 15 minute walk to Trevi and the other major sites, but far enough out that you can avoid the massive crowds. There are numerous options to dine, literally right out the front door! However, contrary to Expedia’s description the hotel does not have laundry services or its own restaurant. We felt very safe at Hotel Golden. It is a family run business and the family resides on property.
This property should not be listed under hotels instead under hostels. The property displayed pictures which showed rooms larger than what it actually was. The hotel owners and staff were unfriendly and not very accommodating. The placed smelled of food most evenings. They would not let you leave with your room keys when leaving for the day but instead leave it at the front desk until you returned. If you returned late at night you had to call the owner(s) to let you in. They would not turn on the ac the room was stifling hot almost every night and when we requested they said that the other guests requested heat, the outside temperatures ranged anywhere from the high 60’s to mid 70’s. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and broken. And if you did complain about any of the above, the owners/ staff were rude. This place should be called hotel Broken instead of Hotel Golden, nothing gold about this place. Not even a one star at this point. Buyers be very aware.
Nice family run business and clean
Very clean and comfortable hotel. Only issue was the lack of 24 hour staff at the desk. This meant you need to pre-arrange to return the hotel after midnight or even leave the hotel prior to 6 am. We didn't realize we would need to he head to the train station prior to 6 and literally could not get out of the locked door.
Hotel staff was excellent, going above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. But the beds are extremely uncomfortable. This made it very hard to get proper rest.
Great hotel and the staff that runs it are great. Very friendly and helpful. The location is nice and in the middle of most major attractions. (short cab rides). It’s a residential area so it’s a bit quieter and less touristy
Rundown condition of the whole room. Please do some renovations like painting freahpaint or something
Hotel Golden was perfect for our stay- the staff were all really helpful and friendly, the room was clean, and the location was close to both the Spagna metro station, and some of the major attractions in Rome.
Great location and comfortable.
Great location, safe neighborhood.
Beautiful, clean, friendly staff, family oriented and convenient. I feel safe as solo traveller.
Great price! Great stay!
Cute hotel that is comfortable and a great value with an excellent location and very hospitable, friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely hotel in a nice location although it is rather basic as to facilities (No tea/coffee available, shower pressure excellent but no hand held attachment, no fridge in room). Family run by a very nice family so no complaints with the service.
Firstly, note that they do not do breakfast (at least not while we were there). The staff was sort of surly and relatively unhelpful. While they did help us getting our luggage up and down the elevator, they were not forthcoming with restaurant suggestions (except to say there were a few around the corner). The room was large, but dark, and the shower/bathroom step was at least 10 inches to get up to. Not a major issue, just odd. Generally, I would not stay here again and have the feeling the hosts would not want us back the way we were treated.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food and drinks were very close.
Hotel Golden is a small,.family run hotel. The location near Villa Borghese Park was perfect for a morning run. The hotel is within two miles of almost everything in Rome, which was great as my family is a walking family. The rooms were cleaned daily and well maintained. The staff was friendly and always available to help. Hotel Golden does not have the frills of a chain hotel, but it's attention to each room and the customer made it the perfect choice for my family. When I am back in Rome, Hotel Golden will he my first choice of accommodations.
Excellent location. Quiet and nearby public transportation. Very friendly and accommodating staff!
The property is very quaint. The room was small, but clean and served it's purpose for the couple of days that we were there. I loved the old style elevator.
