Location and price
No kettle in room No toilet paper in room No cutlery in room No working light in kitchenette Room not clean, hallway and room dirty.
Great location
Not really clean, and construction was noticeable
It’s centrally located, and the price is good
This time it was a bit unfinished, I put some the curtain back on the hooks, ceiling tile back in place and the bed was 2 older singles which I could feel the springs.
Location
Location
Nothing much not to like
We didn't book breakfast, but it is close to many food shops
Maybe if they could replace coffee/tea each day. But it wasn't really a big deal
Choosing this accommodation was based on location, parking, and value.
The parking facilities, though appreciated, were difficult to negotiate. Luckily, we had a small car!
Very close to where I needed to go
The location
I have stayed here before and it still lives up to my expectation from previous stays. Very friendly & helpful Staff, clean & an excellent position for walking Queen Street & getting to other Auckland areas.
Normally I have a queen room as they were unavailable I was put into a king size room. Plenty of room but wasted on me by myself. I am not there to watch TV but want to catch up on the news etc at the end of the day and the size of the TV was a touch small for this room!!
Simple but a good facility
The location is great
The condensation was crazy! The windows were soaking wet and for some reason there was a spot on the carpet was soaking wet and couldn't find where it came from. Curtains and shower had mold.
Location location vlean and affordable for central auckland
A little on small size for king room
The bed was comfy, location was great. It was a last minute cheap stay so I really wasn't expecting it to be fantastic anyway. The remote for tv didnt work so the helpful guy at reception swapped it out for me and made a point of saying he usually worked at the better hotel across the road and that this was just a budget hotel 😆
The first night there was constant water noise over my head, pipes or something. I asked to get moved for my 2nd night, which they did. Unfortunately there were a few issues in the next room, the power point needs attention, very unsafe. The fan above the shower was disgusting and full of dust, and there was broken glass on the top part of the shower wall as you can see from photos, it just needed swept up so shouldn't be too hard to resolve. The whole place just needs some TLC which I assume will happen eventually as I was told it had new owners
Check in was quick and the staff were friendly.
The room was "tired", there was no hot water in the shower and there was no mention of renovations. The charge of $35 for uncovered parking was excessive. The whole place was quite shabby.
Great value for money, really enjoyed the stay. Dont expect the luxury or glamorous treatment, however, you will get an exceptional amount of bang for your buck!!! Also, the buffet breakfast is from Lonestar and is primo! Only costing $29 each!
Advertised on website that they would beat any other advertised prices outside their website by 10%, they did not honour this advertisement and argued invalid points. Had the concllversation had some sort of substance, (terms and conditions advertised) I wouldnt have made an issue. Its not a problem about money, more so a principal of advertising one thing and then creating excuses on the spot to dodge your lowest price guarantee. Oh and the water pressure is trash in the shower
Location Reception was very helpful
There was a lot of dust on the carpet behind cupboard with coffee and tea. Surface of that area also not clean.
Beautiful view of the sky Tower. Very comfy and staff were amazing. Friendly and helpful.
I enjoyed my stay and would definitely book again.
The location is very handy to everything like shops and restaurants and any events that might be happening in the CBD. Bed was comfortable enough.
There was a 3/4 full Kingfisher beer can on the windowsill and someone had obviously used the bathroom as someone hadn't flushed. I'm not sure if someone was doing that on a maintenance break or the room hadn't been properly checked but not what you want to see when you check into your room
The location
Very tiny rooms for 2 adults, fuse kept blowing so tv & fridge wouldn't work, figured out if we turned the lamp on they would blow, no hand soap, bathroom door handle falling off, dirty shower, kept up all night with a loud humming noise coming from the ceiling, louder at night, & when asked about it they said they would call maintenance to come & take a look but never seen them, we had to turn heat pump, fridge off to stop some of the noise but whatever the noise thats in the ceiling just didn't stop or get any quieter, no sleep at all. no spoons for hot drinks, wifi hardly work, no info in rooms to what's available in motel, which we found out later, nothing is available, to ring 0 for reception it wouldn't work. Overpriced parking, Doors banging all night so your room would shake. Horrible stay, I would say you pay for what you get but I think we overpaid. Only stars is for location, oh and my door key only worked half the time. Even if location is good. I would never book here again. Wish I read the reviews before booking 😭 4 days of hell. It seems too that they accommodate for students so that's there bread & butter. So they dont seem to care about other guests
Bien situé
Location
Didn’t realise they are in the middle of renovations which meant the heat pump stuck on cooling and phones were not working. Hair dryer was not working also. We were provided a replacement and a heater.
Bad service rude staff extra charges
Location and staff
The room we were assigned hadn’t been cleaned when we were given the key, but we got a free upgrade so worked out well for us.
Great location, comfortable beds
Staff was friendly and it had a really good location.
Hahah I only saw the bad reviews after booking. Things were broken, including parts of the elevator which made me feel like I was about to enter some Final Destination-esque reality. The room was tiny. You couldn't remove the two hangers from the wardrobe and there was no iron. The room was cold, the blankets were thin, and the heat pump didn't work, and the control panel said it was overdue for a filter clean. There was one outlet which was the furthest point away from the bed so my extra long phone charger couldn't reach. The TV was broken. The toilet seat (!) had permanent stains on it, the plastic on the seat was pealing off, and the water pressure for the flush was weak af. And my favourite part was that I reserved a single king bed room. When I actually hopped into bed I realised it was just two twin mattresses pushed together and covered with a king sheet (lol). Honestly, you got me with that one I was just laughing. So... all in all. Nah not a great place to stay but that's only if you wanted a nice place to stay. Honestly, it was kinda worth it for the laughs for me, and the staff was really friendly which was nice. Would not recommend but if you do end up here enjoy the ~vibe~
Le lit
Pas de pression dans les douche qui sont très vielle et un petit déjeuner où il rester plus rien à 9h avec pas beaucoup de choix
Great location, very convenient to uni, food services and town center.
Quite noisy at night time with other guests in the hallways. The cleaners don't check under the beds unfortunately, there were old towels from previous guests, beer cans and general rubbish.
The location is great .very handy and lots of shops
The lighting in the room could have more choice
a very nice receptionist allowed us to check in before check in time
Terribly dirty hotel, it's a disaster, they probably never clean it
location
The heating didn't work. No spoons for your tea and coffee. Rubbish left in the hallway. getting a bit dated
The staff are efficient and helpful
Everything about my stay here was perfect
They cleaned my room when I was doing errands and that was really nice i enjoyed my stay. It was very welcoming
Hotel all good, reception totally helpful Rooms good Fantastic views Small but clean Breakfast was across a busy road, but worth the risk Vending machine in reception is it The walk up the hill will ruin anyone who is not an athlete Fantastic Irish pub just up the road All good
nothing.
Entire building was old and in desperate need of renovation. The hotel is also a hostel for university students, who have exclusive access to the kitchen on the ground floor, while the hotel guests could not use it Room was also very old and looked nothing like the illustrations shown during booking; room had poor insulation and could hear the guests in adjacent rooms. Accidentally left my watch in the room during checkout, emailed reception twice to enquire about lost watch and they did not bother replying; needed me to personally call them before the evening staff informed me to call again to speak to day staff needed to call the reception multiple times the next day before they could answer my calls; pretended to check with cleaning crew whether they had found my watch, and needed me to call multiple times again before they could finally inform me in writing that they did not find my watch....... or did they?
it was handy to city centre , glad I could park there for the night room was clean and suited a nights stay.
nothing

Friendly staff

The heater doesn't heat up properly. Need a better heater
Great Location, comfortable rooms
Proximity to cbd
Quality/rundown. Deceptive from photos
The cost, location & parking were convenient for where we were going for our show. Good comfortable beds and rooms set up well for 5-6 people. Full size fridge and oven are good for if we stayed longer.
There wasn’t any tea towels & the dishwasher was broken. There needs to be more mirrors and
Great, central location with lots to do near by and easy access to public transport. Friendly staff. My go to when staying in Auckland for a solo night/weekend in the city.
Car park availability isn't always guaranteed, especially if you arrive late, however unable to book a space beforehand.
Affordable CBD location.
the place is utterly filthy. the rooms less so than the hallways, but i admired a collection of bottle tops strewn across the 4th floor hallway for three days without being moved/tidied by the cleaning staff. the lifts are disgusting. the room is more just poorly maintained and sad fixtures etc than lack of cleaning but the overall impression is filth.
The location of the hotel was great. The room was well kept and spacious. More than enough for two people. The shower water temperature didn't last too long but it was still comfortable.
I didn't like that there was a deposit for the room on top of what I paid. Of course I know that this is common for hotels. However, I never saw anywhere on the reservation that I would need to. Could be my mistake though.
Location was okay
Apartment wasn't ready until 4pm. The room was disgusting, I even scrolled through booking.com to see if there was any other hotels available for the night. Dishwasher was broken and filthy yet there was no dish liquid to wash the cups (now I'm concerned about even using the cups). The room stank so badly of bleach that we had to open all the windows on a winters day to air it out, we even left after an hour of being in the room as the bleach had made our throats feel raw. There was black hair on the floor in the toilet, unpopped corn kernals, price tag and a hair clip on the floor in the kitchen. Main bedroom door won't close. Windows filthy. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Will not be back.
View from my room was amazing, location, and the comfort of the bed.
It seemed a bit unclean and that comes down to management. You need more cleaners on duty to do the job properly but if you are trying to cut costs, then it shows up somewhere. There was mold in the shower grouts and scum in the toilet bowl below the rim. You need to spray bleach on those kinds of things. The room size is extremely tight with not much storage. The air conditioning didn’t work in the room. I’ve stayed in the hotel 2 years ago and the air conditioning didn’t work then either. It tells you that whoever owns the hotel or the shareholders are tight and don’t want to spend money. Im guessing Asians must own it or maybe Indians but I don’t know. It’s not a clean and comfortable hotel but the location is handy, and I guess if you want comfort and hygiene you have to pay more for it elsewhere. Room keeping is also horrendous and your room doesn’t get serviced until late in day and the beds aren’t made properly. It tells me the staff are either poorly paid or understaffed and expected to give maximum effort for minimum pay. Everything is reflective of management and ownership. Ive stayed at some beautiful hotels in my lifetime, in some beautiful locations, and Ascotia Off Queen is not one of them.
Price and location!
Walls super thin, can hear everything, not the cleanest
They promised to refund us for the moldy room disgusting room. We couldn't even open the window. Worst hotel I have stayed in in a long time. They took close to a week to return the bond for the room as well. We talked to some German backpackers in the elevator and they were also in similar conditions; mold all over the walls and ceiling. Matress protector was like a rag, falling apart. Beyond horrible. I have photo evidence but its on my phone... Moldy pillows. Where is our refund?
