We had a lovely stay here, the food was amazing, good value for money, the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious and the complimentary breakfast basket in the room was a nice touch too. Would definitely come back again.
Nothing, the stay was amazing
The food in the pub was lovely and the bathroom was nice
Room was very noisy. You could hear the person in the room next door moving around and when someone went out the exit door downstairs it would bang and wake you up.
Room had everything I needed and was clean Staff friendly
Nothing - all good
Very thoughtful selection of juices, fruit, yoghurt etc complimentary in the room
Great place good value nice evening meal great staff. Bonus with some breakfast stuff tea coffee left in room
Nothing
Great food and bar
Price felt a bit high for the rooms
Yes, it’s quirky, but that’s part of its charm. Room wasn’t enormous but more than adequate and I’d have been happy to stay for a week. With a large car park, exceptionally friendly staff and a great choice of food cooked to perfection there’s little more you could want or need on a visit to the lakes at such a reasonable price. The included breakfast basket in the room was a nice touch too and just right to start the day. If I’m this way again I know where to stay.
Nothing.
The staff are extremely friendly at the Gilpin, and the food exceptional. The room was compact, but very comfortable and clean. It had all we needed for some hiking over the weekend
Nothing
Super friendly staff who were very welcoming even on a busy Bank Holiday Saturday. Also the character of the property.
What’s not to like!!
Nothing
Everything
very good location.
Had a good car park and a relaxed atmosphere, serving throughout the day and early evening. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food & drink were competitively priced.
Had a themed Saturday when we arrived which wasn’t to our taste personally. It meant all the food was barbecued (again not to our taste) with no kitchen service. There had been no prior indication even though I had messaged them about our meal (no response) so we felt that we hadn’t received what we had booked. Could’ve requested a refund but, what the heck, they were being entrepreneurial in difficult times. Bathroom needs maintenance, I.e. leaky shower that goes hot ‘n’ cold plus wonky lavatory seat.
Clean spacious, comfortable, lovely room. Quiet room .
Condensation damp made it chilly in the room. Would have liked to access Netflix on my account. Water pressure low in shower at 7am
Plenty of character, very pleasant staff
No issues with property
Evening meal was lovely. Unfortunately we had to have our breakfast in our room as there was something going on in the breakfast room. The staff member did not tell us the cereal was at the top of the stairs, so we missed out. She was a bit hazy on the welcome speech, like she was tired
A chair in the room.
Location , staff and atmosphere on the evening were great . Nice spacious room and good value for money
Breakfast room was very bleak , Breakfast itself was ok, but could have done with some music as was very quiet and stark.
Really friendly local pub, great atmosphere, great food, and live entertainment which was amazing.
Nothing to mark down, it was perfect
Very clean and comfortable although very busy service was excellent food was very nice 👌 great value for money will definitely use again 💯💯
Evening meal and Continental breakfast was excellent. Plenty of choice.
Nothing negative to report.
Everything was perfect lovely staff beautiful room
perfect stay for a business stop off. Breakfast wasa great idea ,everything there to help yourself continental style.. Evening meal great and staff very helpful and pleasant.. Wouldnt hesitate to stay again
Lovely friendly staff, quirky room, nice and clean. Lovely atmosphere, outdoor areas good.
Continental breakfast basic.
Breakfast was fine. Continental. Location was excellent for Windermere and Ulverston.
Dogs and dog smelly carpet
Given it was a weekend the breakfast time could have been extended to 10.30am/11.00am
Very clean. Very helpful and friendly staff. Especially Jordon. Comfortable beds and pillows. Yea and coffee facilities. Lovely room.
There was nothing I didn’t like.
Everything. Comfy beds and pillows. Tea and coffee facilities. Staff were lovely especially Jordon.
Nothing.
Breakfast ok, whatever was available in the breakfast room, including in the fridge.
Lovely room
Location great just off m6 but far enough away to feel you’re in the sticks! It was clean and the staff super welcoming
It’s was good!
Staff all very helpful indeed and the food in the restaurant was really nice and good value.
No issues worth reporting. All good.
Breakfast ok
The room next to ours must have only been a stud wall, we could hear the bloke snoring all night from the other room could do with more sound proofing
Area was nice, restaurant and bar staff were good. Room and bed were ok.
Noisiest hotel ive ever stayed in, thinnest walls, hear everything through the walls, tvs etc. Doors banging. But worst part was the noise coming from the pubs own accomodation, private area. Tv so loud, talking loud, dog walking around on the floor. But then they left at 11, an left the dog on its own, barking and howling non stop from 11 - 2. Barely any sleep. Aboslutely awful to leave that noise as the owners, knowing they had guests and in the room next door. If could post videos i would of the noise. Couldnt actually believe it. Avoid, will never stay again. Food was massively overpriced to for the quality, had the specail board shepherds pie, a pot of pie, which was 3inch of mash, about 5 pieces of meat and carrot an bit of gravy. With a slice of bread and a little pot of onions. Wasnt the worst taste wise, average food, but for £22.95, the portion was completely ridiculous, completely overpriced.
Easy access to Kendal. Very clean. Staff very friendly.
Bed a little soft for my preference.
Informal, help yourself breakfast. Suited my visit and a one night stay. Friendly staff. Good place for an overnight stay on your way somewhere.
We used Gilpin Bridge Inn as an overnight stop on our journey home from the Outer Hebrides to Shropshire. It's location near jct 36 of the M6 was perfect, and the room, although a little on the small side, was fine for an overnight stay. Most importantly, it was very clean, had an ensuite bathroom and tea making facilities, and the bed was very comfortable. As we wanted an early start the next morning, the help yourself buffet breakfast arrangements also suited us very well. We received a lovely welcome from the staff, all of whom were warm and friendly. We also had an evening meal at the Inn, and the food was tasty, well cooked and well priced. We would certainly recommend it for a convenient and well priced overnight stay.
Nothing - it was all good. 🙂
Old pub feel with great food - dinner was just right and staff super helpful!
Help yourself breakfast . Catered for all tastes
Small room and very warm room. Could not open the window for fresh air to cool the room. Very small double bed
Restaurant was lovely with a good selection on the menu. Staff were lovely and publican was very nice and friendly. Enjoyed the stay
All was good just would have liked a hairdryer in the room.
Good basic accommodation and nice food.
Room quite small and breakfast room was cold and not very inviting.
Restaurant was very good for evening meals and great service
Breakfast although included in price was okay the function room was a bit dim with very limited choices
Lovely room. Very clean and comfortable.
The breakfast was very very basic. No staff there to help. Had to spread my butter with a spoon. Hardly any option. No fruit or fresh pastries. It was basically just some toast or cereal.
Everything was good with our stay from the staff, bed, room, food etc.

Friendly staff. Good value for money
Super friendly and helpful staff
Nothing
Great location for exploring the area
Unable to open the bedroom window (note on window saying not to open) so too warm at night
More info regarding breakfast being self service items not always replaced
Newly renovated. All v smart. Nice flexible help yourself breakfast. Amenable to storing bike.
Comfy bed , good shower
Not really as rural as expected as off a slip road of a very busy road which you can hear all night , also rather than country in it was more like local boozer vibes so quite noisey and busy as a pub would be , it was particularly bad as a couple was arguing in the next room and I could hear doors slamming until late into the early hours . No smart tv or channel apps only free tv .. so behind the times No lamp in room so only very bright light or no light Even though there was a free breakfast there was no catering at all for gluten free and vegan options . The lady did find oat milk tbf but it wasn’t gluten free but no vegan options to eat . I had my own gf bread and vegan butter so luckily made some toast using their toaster . I’m sure it’s difficult to provide gf and vegan but not really any attempt was disappointing in this day and age I appreciate £69 is prob cheap for a double room with breakfast for 2 but as a solo traveller it wasn’t a good price for me . Check in staff could of been more helpful /attentive Had to give my card in case of damages but no terms or conditions explained or offered so that was very vague and unexpected. Very hot in room , no air con or fans but it was a very hot day
Clean modern room. Looked to have been refurbished very recently. Good shower pressure and temperature. Breakfast was a help yourself continental buffet. A lot of people might prefer a full English but after several days travelling, this lighter bite was appreciated and it was included so can't complain. Great isolated location not far from Fell Foot on Windermere and Kendal.
Room overlooked by another room mere feet away so no view and had to keep blinds down for privacy. It's an old building so every move by other guests causes loud creaking noises and I obviously had a pacer next door to me as it was constant. Strange lack of bedside lamps despite sockets so had to walk across room to turn off lights. Service at dinner was very slow. 45 minutes to get food and felt staff were friendly but not very attentive. A real worry was that I received an email asking me to supply credit card details despite having paid in full. This directly violates Booking.com's own advice to customers not to give any details outwith the app On arrival this was the first thing they asked for again. I get that they've maybe had non payment or damages in past but this sharp practice soured my view of an otherwise good hotel.
Price, service, welcoming
The place was clean the food was excellent and not a bad price the staff was very welcoming ms greated you with a smile and was polite
Friendly staff and lovely room

Bedroom was good, staff were very good and the food was excellent
There was nowhere to put your clothes.
The location and staff could not have been any better. The breakfast was also very nice and enjoyed meeting friendly people.
Shower a BBC d bed were a bit small.
Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Location. Food in bar
Breakfast
Great location and a friendly pub/hotel. Excellent meal in the evening and the continental breakfast was a real bonus. We will definitely be staying again the next time we pass through the area
Nothing
breakfast was continental plenty off choices, evening meals were excellent ,we will be staying there again ideal location when exploring the lakes
nothing
Old quirky pub with great beer and fabulous staff
Clean, good location en route to Scotland
Staff excellent bar food good breakfast ok
Wall Very thin in my room could hear absolutely everything through the walll
Good hotel.
Older building meaning inside is small but you would expect that.
Location was very convenient for our weekends activities
The room was very small and a little cramped
Food good.
No cooked breakfast 😋
Love the convenient location of the pub when travelling through south Cumbria the staff were as always exceptionally friendly and helpful
Some of the double rooms are quite compact
Staff all very cheerful and helpful. Bathroom very good, clean and modern. Very good food.
Room was a bit basic with no chair.
Good location for stop off and exploring the Lake District. Free breakfast.
Great location. Room was lovely. Excellent food in restaurant.
Really friendly staff, food was good. Nice hot shower bar prices werent too bad. Ned was comfortable.
The room i was in was Nutkin, there was no soumd proofing whatsoever. We could here every word, every movement of the people adjacent to us, this meant a pppr night sleep. Tv is to small for the room.
Gilpin Bridge Inn was in a good location. The staff were lovely, friendly, and helpful.Rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable. We would recommend to all our friends and family.
The shower head didn't work well.
The room was lovely, clean tidy and very nice with everything we could need. With the inn being very central to a lot. There was plenty of parking, a outdoor play area and signs saying dogs were welcome.( We didn't take a dog so I'm not sure if they can stay in the rooms) The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar area is cosy with three bar areas where drinks can be ordered. (Restaurant, quieter seating drinks only and pool/games area) It has everything you could need with drinks priced well. We didn't eat there so can't rate the food, other than breakfast. Which was a continental choice, cereals, individually wrapped pastries ( store bought) toast, porridge pots, hot drinks, fresh fruit juice and fruit.
Nothing was bad or complaint worthy, for the value it was amazing. The only thing I think lacks is information on where to check in, slightly confusing when you first walk in as check in is at one of the bars. A full English breakfast was advertised on the back of the room door with the information when in fact these are no longer catered for. So this could do with being charged to prevent disappointment. We had a nice view from the room, however it was a family room so parents should check the view first. ( we ended up looking and catching a couple been intimate stood up in the hot tub of the camping huts at the back 😳 not at all the Gilpins issue but was a shocker to see on our first look out.)
Very easy to find and it’s in a great location if you are wanting to explore the lakes. Had a complimentary breakfast of cereals, toast, croissants, pain au chocalats with juices and hot drinks. It was lovely just to wake up and just pop downstairs and have some toast. Staff said if we didn’t want to eat in the morning, we could take some of the pre-packaged snacks with us. Bedroom was clean, shower was great and fresh towels. Staff were lovely. We had a drink in the pub on both nights and played pool and darts. Pool was 50p a game! The menu catered for gluten free too. We never ate there, but from what I saw, they looked like good quality home cooked meals. Great price! Would highly recommend and would stay again!
Not much at all really! One of the sockets in the wall was broken, but that’s the only thing I can think of.
Good location, clean rooms.
The window seal would benefit from a little upgrade. The breakfast options were a biz limited.
Great room, clean and comfortable. Bathroom spacious and had everything you need. Staff very nice and helpful. Easy access to Kendal, Windermere etc. Continental breakfast was included in the price.
The staff are very welcoming, the food in the restaurant was Delicious. We liked the decor of the room. Very comfortable bed. The continental breakfast was well thought out and a nice surprise.
The walls are thin so can hear other guests which woke us up. However this would not prevent us from booking again
The staff were brilliant. We managed to get a free upgrade to a bigger room.
One minor, we were too full after dinner and wanted to take a pudding upstairs. I understand why we couldn't and this would be nit picking.
Staff were friendly and attentive, rooms were clean, comfortable and most importantly warm. Food was well priced and delicious
Very clean Pleasant smiley staff
The bed was very soft so not the most comfortable
The food and atmosphere in the evening was great.
The breakfast was awful. Very little choice and meagre amounts.
Perfect quiet hideaway with good clean rooms and decent beer
Staff were great, comfortable bed and good entertainment
Breakfast set up
Immaculate, clean, warm friendly super comfy bed, lovely large bath towels
Fantastic country pub with an unbelievable beef roast dinner. The staff are lovely, service is incredibly fast, good selection of drinks and vast menu- spoilt for choice! We’ll definitely be going back🙌🏼
Staff very friendly, and the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in, and roast beef Sunday dinner was the best I’ve ever tasted, good location easy to get to highly recommended
Nothing I didn’t like
It was a very enjoyable stay. The food at dinner was lovely and staff friendly. The room was warm and cosy and there was plenty of tea, coffee and milk provided. The shower room was small but lovely and shower was warm and powerful.
The television was very small and the breakfast was quite sparse. It was advertised at continental and it was help yourself. We did go down a bit late and they were closing the following day for 2 weeks so understandable.
