Not the usual standard you get from Hampton staff seemed very unsure when asked anything, breakfast was chaotic as out was very busy. No one was about to clear any tables.

The breakfast could have been slightly better as the sausages were poor quality and there was only 1 choice of eggs. The area for serving yourself was quite small in comparison to the amount of guests so you had to queue to make a coffee for example and felt in the way of other guests

De kamer was heel proper en voorzien van alles wat je nodig hebt. De check in verliep vlot en het personeel was vriendelijk.

De kamer had geen raam wat open kon en er hing een vreemde geur. Het was bloedheet en de enige oplossing was een ventilator die erg veel lawaai maakte. Het ontbijt was ok maar niet super. De eieren waren echt niet lekker.

We were woken by a constant beeping noise at 0230 which was due to an aircon fault.The staff moved us to another room but it wasn’t a good nights sleep.

The property was very clean and very near to the town centre convenient for us for all the things we wanted to do the staff we met in the first day at the reception was amazing. Very caring hospitality was great.

While we were there, there was a fire alarm on the Friday, but we were not. We didn’t know and we spoke to one of the staff who was very rude. he told us that we supposed to know. Because it is written on one of the floors which means we have to go round to all the floors to have a look at when is the fire alarm instead of just apologise and inform us when we are coming in the first day

The bathroom was very spacious and clean. The staff were very friendly. I will definitely recommend it to my family and friends whenever they plan to visit Birmingham and they decide to stay overnight.

Very quiet despite being between a busy road and train/metro line, giving good access by public transport. Not much natural light in my room but the lighting was good. Generous and excellent value breakfast.

There were some issues with the air conditioning and room felt cold in the morning and the floor above may have been worse, but at least staff did point this out at check in.

The area was awful my car was badly vandalised much so I couldn't drive it, it cost me a lot of money in taxis, I was recommended to park where I was by the hotel. This was very inconvenient for the people I brought for the adults with disabilities for the special olympics

It was easy to find.

Basic doesn’t quite cut it. The beds are uncomfortable and the lamp in the room didn’t work. Wanted to open a window but had a curtain over a concrete wall. Air conditioning was so loud it was impossible to sleep. People stomping past the room all night. TV doesn’t have usual smart features so your options are freeview with bad signal or the clicking of the air conditioner. Breakfast was packed, nowhere to sit, people sitting on dirty tables just piling up cups and plates. Staff just kind of stood there watching. When we checked out they didn’t ask how our stay was (thankfully).

Breakfast was very adequate - in fact delicious. The room was very comfortable, though I couldn't operate the small lamp near the TV - don't know why. Transport to the hotel is convenient because of the tram service, which is excellent and which I really like.

The weather! But what can you do about that?

J'étais agréablement surprise de l'emplacement de l'hôtel facile à trouver , pas loin du centre de Birmingham , il y a beaucoup de transport pour se déplacer et visiter la ville . L'hôtel est très propre . Les personnels à l'écoute .

The only issue was that the air conditioning was not working in our room and it was a really hot night. We were told about this when checking in and a fan was on in the room when we went in. The dining area was very busy for breakfast (it was during the European athletics) and the staff struggled to keep up with the clearing of tables.

The staff were really helpful. The breakfast was great. It was near St Paul's Square which had lovely cafes and restaurants and also not far to get in the canal path.

It was hot and we couldn't open the window and took a while to work out how to get to the right AC setting.

The room was excellent with everything needed and in great condition. The view was awful, but didn't matter. Breakfast was surprisingly delicious although they seemed to be catering for a full house.

The Fitness room fell into the trap that most hotels fitness facilities do. Approx 5 cardio machines when 1 or 2 would be enough - and then not enough of anything else.

Quiet room with comfy beds and good shower in a great location for exploring the jewellery quarter. Next to tram stop so easy to get to all attractions.

Breakfast was fine but there seemed to be no staff around to clear tables after guests had eaten. Buffet had a good choice of times so a shame that the experience is let down by a lack of staff.

It was quite hot in our room, but to be fair we adjusted the air con.

The hotel staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and tidy. The breakfast in the morning was good too.

The only thing I didn't like was the fact this hotel has no parking... so if you have travelled from other places to come visit Birmingham the parking is a headache. But I was advised by the kind staff that I could ask the Texco petrol station for parking and I was luckily able to park. For £7 a day.

It was very clean and comfortable and our room looked as if it had just been refurbished. The complimentary breakfast was much better than we expected for the price.

Location - we walked from the city centre to the hotel as travelled by train - it took about 20 minutes through what seemed like a pretty dodgy area, and we didn’t feel safe until we got to the hotel.

Not much around in the jewellery quarter in general but the hotel itself was perfect.

One of the rooms had an unpleasant odour. We didn’t complain, as we needed adjacent rooms and were only staying one night. Not sure if it was from previous guests, but it didn’t smell clean. Bedding etc was spotless though. Not the most picturesque setting, but convenient location.

The room was spacious and bed really comfortable. The soundproofing from the metro line behind was brilliant and unlike many places these days there was a comfortable chair to sit on. The metro and several bus routes directly outside were really handy but it was only a very short walk into the centre of the Jewellery quarter and indeed it didn't take long on foot to get into the centre of Birmingham. The staff were welcoming and smiley.

My only gripe is breakfast. The plain yoghurt was excellent (unsweetened) and there were stewed summer fruits and amazingly a bowl of nuts and seeds which was great. However that is where the nutritional element stopped sadly. The eggs were mass produced scrambled and tasteless so only tried once and nobody would make me a poached egg. I bought my own bag of decent muesli and used the good bits as toppers.

They didn’t clean/refresh my room one night. And yet I informed them: “I’m going out now, if you want to clean my room.” Didn’t happen. Though a tram stop was nearby, absolutely nothing in the area, such as restaurants. Staff at desk appeared overwhelmed and somewhat disinterested. The bar was rarely manned.

The hotel was clean and quiet despite being full due to the athletics. Check in and out was easy. Breakfast was well prepared and good variety.

Unfortunately the team seemed short staffed on Sunday and Monday mornings which meant tables were cleared slowly.

Location seems good but local bus services to Alexander stadium are a bit suspect, some buses we're cancelled with no reason.

The area around the hotel is very dodgy especially after dark with some strange characters hovering around Breakfast was great but had one evening meal in hotel and not nice

Location was excellent, breakfast was good quality however I felt that the area was understaffed as apart from hot food, other areas were not replenished in a timely fashion, especially cutlery and mugs, at busy times I felt there should be more staff clearing tables. Also we were staying for 5 days, although our room was serviced ie bed made, extra towels, baskets emptied- things like tea bags and milk were not replaced ( we had to look for them from reception), mugs not replaced. it would have been good to have had separate bathroom/ toothbrush glasses

Zimmer wurde in den 4 Tagen nur an einem Tag saubergemacht. Das Frühstück war sehr schwach. Schlechte Qualität der Produkte. Der Kaffeeautomat wurde während der Frühstückszeit auf Reinigungsprogramm geschaltet. Der Orangensaft war 10 % Fruchtsaft und 90 % Wasser. Keine Brotauswahl. Kein Schnittkäse, keine Wurst. Artikel wurden nur schleppend nachgefüllt.

My friends were given a key card to a room which was already occupied. Took a while to sort out… and could have been a dangerous situation.

The breakfast was one of the worst I've had at a hotel in a long time. Everything was crammed into a small space with only one coffee machine. The food itself wasn't great and the staff were not keeping up with clearing the tables. In the room itself, the bathroom door didn't close properly and the sink was too small and cracked.

The stay was very comfortable. The room and bathroom were both clean, and it was great to have an ironing board and iron provided. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which made a huge difference in the hot weather. The shower had good water pressure and warm water, and everything in the bathroom worked well. The breakfast was absolutely amazing, with a really wide selection. There were hot options such as hash browns, scrambled eggs and sausages, as well as yogurts, granola, cereals, frozen fruit and dried apricots. Drinks included apple juice, orange juice, water, tea and coffee. There was also a waffle-making station with marshmallows, croissants with jam and marmalade, plus bread and a toaster. The choice was so good that even a very fussy eater would easily find something they liked. The staff were very friendly, including the catering team, and check-out was quick and easy. Parking was also available only a short walk from the hotel, and 12 hours cost just £2.50. Overall, we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

There was actually very little I disliked about the hotel itself. My main concern was the surrounding area, which felt quite run-down, dirty and a little intimidating, especially when arriving late at night. After parking and walking to the hotel, I did feel uneasy about leaving the car there overnight, although thankfully there were no problems at all. The other issue was with the booking. Despite having a confirmation email and previous messages through Booking.com confirming things such as the sofa beds being prepared and an ironing board being available, when I arrived at around 10 pm I was told that my booking could not be found. With five children, this was extremely worrying at first. However, the hotel staff were absolutely exceptional. They immediately worked to sort everything out, quickly prepared a family room that had just become available and arranged another room for us on a different floor. What started as a very stressful situation actually highlighted how helpful and accommodating the staff were. I therefore see this more as a Booking.com issue than a fault with the hotel, and the staff definitely deserve five stars for the way they handled it.
