The White Hart Hotel

The hotel staff made the stay that more enjoyable, they were very helpful from the moment we walked in and even prior to our arrival they answered all of our prearrival questions over the phone. the food and food service at breakfast and dinner was some of the best we have encountered on our tour around the southwest of England.

It was a room booked for two adults. Two room keys would have been good.

Struggling to find any faults. Staff were excellent and shout out to the barman, good chats and recommendations of local places. Great served breakfast. Room was spotless, bed was super comfy. Close to the town and train/bus station for links to Eden Project which is why we were there.

The shower head exploded off during use but I could put this under positives as it made my son laugh more than I've ever seen, core memory for sure.

Very outdated property. The exterior was very attractive and traditional Georgian. Unfortunately, the interior needs upgrading. Everything looks as if it has been furnished and decorated on a budget. The matress was especially poor quality and was so soft it felt like sleeping on a water bed. It was the worst night's sleep I have ever had. Please realise that there isn't a lift , with three flights of steep stairs to reach the second floor. The last flight was without a handrail and was extremely challenging.

The steepness of the stairs. Lack of handrail. The matress was very very poor quality. I would not recommend staying here for anyone over 40years or having even minor mobility issues. Lack of handrail on final flight of stairs is definitely a health and safety concern !

The staff were really friendly and the breakfast was great. We had a small issue that was flagged to staff who responded efficiently and professionally. The hotel offered good value for money and is located very close to the train station.

The room was hot, a fan was provided but it was still a little uncomfortable.

Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und hatten ein gut renoviertes Zimmer im Keller. Sowohl das Frühstück, als auch die Möglichkeit im Restaurant zum Abendessen sind sehr gut. Es ist lecker, reichhaltig und mit tollem Service. Es gibt einen kostenlosen Parkplatz auf der anderen Straßenseite.

We have stayed here twice and the rooms are looking very Tired with repairs not finished properly etc.

This was my fourth stay. St. Austell might be a bit neglected (I hope that changes) but The White Hart continues to provide accommodation, food and drink which is outrageously good for the price. As someone using public transport I like to stay somewhere well connected in order to explore the area better. The White Hart is comfortable, friendly and central, just a few minutes walk from the station. It all works for me.

Nothing springs to mind. As an overall package The White Hart punches above its weight.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel and would stay again. Customer service was on point. Staff are really friendly polite, helpful and make there jobs seem effortless, I was really impressed with everyone I came across, it has a warmly family feel, to make you feel at home. 10 out of 10 for that. Breakfast was good and service was matched. I also liked that heart radio was playing when I entered my room for the first time.

To be honest there's not an awful lot that I could moan about... like things down to decore in my room are preference so not really applicable. The price of the top line larger is at least a pound over priced on the pint though I will say that although I still drank them.

Az elhelyezkedése tökéletes. Rövid sétával megközelíthető volt a városközpont. A szoba berendezése jónak mondható. Az ágy az nagyon kényelmes volt. A reggeli az finom volt.

A szoba fürdőszobával volt egyben , de nagyon keskeny hely maradt az âgy és a fal között ahoz hogy kényelmesen megközelíthetö legyen. Maga a fürdö megfelelő volt habár a kád és a tusoló egyben volt ami nem gond, de hiágyoltam egy falra szerehető extra kapaszkodót, ami biztonságossabbá tette volna a kádból ki- be mozgást. A reggeli megfelelö volt ízben és minőségben, de az utolsó napon korrábban indultunk így az aznapi reggelinket meg kellett venni , mivel nem csomagoltak külön az útra.

A személyzet nagyon kedves és segitökész volt. Pillanatok alatt túlvoltunk a bejelentkezésen, söt a csomagokat is segitettek felvinni a szobánkba. Elözékenyek és segitökészek voltak bármilyen kérdéssel, vagy kéréssel fordultunk hozzájuk. A reggeli választék nagy, minden fogás finom és böséges. A hotel étterme minden várakozásunknak megfelelt. A friss tengeri fogásaik kiemelkedöen finomak ,böségesek ,az ár érték arányuk pedig nagyszerü! Mindenkinek csak ajánlani tudom!

Sajnos a hotelben.nincs lift erre figyelnem kellett volna. A foglaláskor jeleztem ugyan a speciális kéréseknél hogy mozgás korlátozott vagyok,de ez valahogy nem került rögzitésre a foglalásban. Nem kizárt hogy részben én is hibás vagyok ebben, talán nem hangsulyoztam ki eléggé. Igy a második emeleti szobát kaptunk, és a lépcsözés eléggé megterhelö volt .A hotelnek van ugyan saját zárt parkolója, de hogy oda juss egy forgalmas uttesten kell átkelned ami nem veszélytelen az állandó nagy forgalom miatt, Kijelölt gyalogátkelö sajnos nincs, igy elsöbbséged sincs. Az egy hét alatt talán három alkalommal állt meg autós hogy átkelhessek, pedig látták hogy két bottal tudok csak járni.

Location was convenient for exploring the area, the building itself is a lovely historic townhouse, and the staff were courteous.

We had a disappointing stay. The room was extremely small, which made it difficult to move around comfortably or store our luggage properly. The bigger issue was the window: pigeons were getting into the room through it, so we had to keep it closed for the entire stay. The exterior windows were also visibly dirty, covered in pigeon droppings, which didn’t give a great impression of the property’s maintenance. On top of that, we were woken up early each morning by loud ventilation/HVAC noise coming from outside. Unfortunately, given the room size and these hygiene and noise issues, I can’t recommend this hotel.

Me and the kids loved the breakfast. They had gluten free and vegetarian options which was great. The staff were friendly and kind. The room was nice and big and accommodated all of us. The location was not too far from the Eden Project which waa convenient. The free parking was useful too.

There was a slight smell in the bathroom other than that we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed here for two nights using it as a base for the Eden Project (10 minutes away). The location and the hotel were perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, well appointed and stylish. It felt like a little bit of luxury. The food was absolutely delicious and we ate dinner at the hotel both nights with plenty more options on the menu to come back for. Food was hot, freshly prepared and full of flavour. Upon leaving we were surprised with a little gift of Cornish fudge proving once again how brilliant the customer service is. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

There was no table in the room, therefore it was impossible to work with the laptop.

We had a lovely stay at the White Hart Hotel. It was our 11 year old daughters Birthday, and the staff went above and beyond when we asked if they could bring out our her Birthday cake. They laid out our table with Birthday decorations and gave our daughter a box of Cornish fudge. Everybody in the bar and restaurant sang happy Birthday, which made her day. Our room was really nice with a very large double bed and an adjoining bedroom with 2 single beds.The view from the room was of similar historic buildings and the chimes of the church clock was a bonus. It was all very clean and looked as if it had been recently refurbished. Breakfast was lovely with a great selection to choose from. The Hotel had its own car park on the opposite side of the road, which was a real bonus. We really enjoyed oue stay.

Lovely roast dinner. The plate was huge, with lots of meat and vegetables. Gravy was a little salty but the food was freshly cooked and hot! A desert was included which we hardly had room for!

From the minute we got there we were made to very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The beds were very comfortable, the en-suite was a more than adequate size. There was an iron and ironing board and extra pillows in the wardrobe, which you don't always find Also a floor fan and a table top fan which was very much appreciated! For a 2* hotel it was a very high standard. We've stayed in 3* and 4* hotels which haven't had as many facilities as The White Hart. The breakfast was well cooked and filling. The bar and lounge areas very welcoming, the lounge area particularly cosy! I can't leave this review without mentioning the friendly and helpful staff. We appreciate there's a small staff team running the substantially sized hotel, yet they do it with a smile on their face and are obviously conscientious in their work, as this shows in the standards of the rooms, bar and kitchen. I am going to single out Michel, only because he was the main member of staff who attended us. His customer relations manner is great and his sense of humour unforgetable! Although he said he was only the barman, he had a hand in everything! Staying at The White Hart helped to make our short 2 day stay in Cornwall very happy and memorable. We would visit again!

Everyone was helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was decent enough but nothing was self service, cereals etc and choice was a bit limited. What was served was good quality.

The bedroom was hot, even though we were there in normal summer temperature not a heatwave. However there were 2 fans and it made it OK.

Staff could not do enough for you. Very helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and homemade pie was fabulous.

Not impressed with St Austell itself but Charlestown was lovely and it was just a one night stop and good value for money. I would stay again if in the area. Managed to get free parking in the car park too.

Friendly welcome, spacious bedroom and ensuite. Very comfortable bed and the best pillows I have had in a hotel for a long time. Breakfast was cooked to order, a great choice beyond the usual full English, excellent service and great breakfast. The waiter gave exceptional service on my arrival and at breakfast. Would highly recommend. Secure code for car park which was perfect.

Difficulty finding car park as it is located across the road opposite the hotel. My room was next to a vent so rather noisy but less so with the window closed.

The room was absolutely lovely, it was super clean and felt very homely and well thought out, there was everything I needed including an ironing board and iron, TV, hairdryer, kettle, huge bathroom, and I loved the decor. It was very welcoming when I arrived, with the fan already on and radio playing. The staff were very friendly. It was very close to both the train station and the town. There is a lovely bar area downstairs and you can get drinks and take them to your room if you wish. Had a really nice meal there too, food was hot and it was good. Would definitely recommend a stay here if you want to visit Eden Project although bus services are limited so realistically you need to get taxis there and back (about £15 each way). The staff were helpful with calling a taxi cab for us.

On the first day there was no vegan/plant based breakfast on the menu and no vegan butter, so options very limited for me to cereal or dry toast however on the second day (after I commented on this) they did me a full vegan breakfast which was fab - so just a note to the venue really, I do recommend putting vegan breakfast on your menu and also putting the little oat milk packs in the room as well as the dairy milk :) to note, My Omni friend loved the breakfast option for meat eaters! Also, I think more could be made of the outside space at the back to make it a nice little beer garden!

I had a brilliant stay at The White Hart Hotel in St Austell. My room was clean, tidy, and really comfortable, and the noise level was great — quiet at night and peaceful, which made it easy to relax and get a proper rest. The food was excellent fresh, full of flavour, and really well presented. It definitely exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere throughout the hotel was warm, welcoming, and relaxed, giving the whole place a really pleasant feel. The staff were outstanding too. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and I want to give a special mention to Andrew, who was incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely made my visit feel more enjoyable. His friendliness really stood out. The hotel is in a great location, right in the centre of St Austell, making it easy to get around and explore the area. For the quality of the stay, I found it to be great value for money. Overall, I’d happily stay here again. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Cornwall.

What can I say..... From the first interaction with the staff, we knew it was exceptional. Staff were professional, polite, tentative. 5 star service. - especially the two males that was working that night. They couldn't have done anything more. (Only downside is we didn't take there names). I even saw them take other guests suitcases to their rooms. Food was excellent, presentation and value. Room - WOW... Was not expecting the quality, cleanliness and the size of the room. The facilities within the room was something you'd expect from a luxury 5 star hotel.. We will booking for a longer stay in the near future.

The value for money is top-class. The staff are very nice and friendly. The breakfast is traditional and good. Especially, the cleaning staff found and returned my lost novel and notebook!

The window in our room is to the ventilation of the kitchen, so it's a bit noisy during the kitchen's open hours (also the room was a bit hotter than the toilet). A minor issue is that I didn't find a socket for the hair dryer in the bathroom.

Staff were lovely and cleaner did the best job they could. Outside of the building is gorgeous. Parking on opposite side of the road is convenient and you get given a pass code, also free.

The smells coming up from the restaurant in to the rooms. The musky smells within the room because it’s such an old building. Although the cleaner did a good job, the rooms need a redo. Furniture worn, carpet worn, bathroom needed new flooring and sealant. Needs freshening up, some deep cleaning and nice smelling diffusers.

I was looking for a super budget place to stay, so I was not expecting much. It is a good place to set as a base for other activities, very central. Good breakfast with a menu to choose from at the ground-floor restaurant. The staff was extremely welcoming. The room itself turned out to be very spacious.

Noisy. As my room was right at the staircase, I heard every shuffling, every door slam, and noises from downstairs. Kinda dark. Because this room is super-cheap, my window was facing the drainage pipes and the back of the building, which limited the amount of natural light.

The staff were very pleasant and the food was very good. Would recommend the chicken and ham pie. Great location.

The town itself is very quiet in the evening. Lots of places closed early.
