I had a wonderful stay at this hostel! The staff was very welcoming and the space was nice. Very walkable to everything you’d need in Galway. There’s also free breakfast! :)

Kinlay hostel was the perfect location to really explore Galway! The staff was very welcoming and provided us with many suggestions on what to do in the city.

Great common areas. Parking isn't close. Make sure you understand how the vouchers work before you try to exit the garage.

One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at - Kinlay just gets so many things right! Dorm beds are comfortable with privacy curtains, light, power socket and USB. Showers are very good, with hooks for hanging items and shower gel provided. And finally a hostel that doesn’t charge or require a deposit for towels - fantastic! There is a large and pleasant communal area, with a pool table and piano. The kitchen is large and has everything you need, plus there are lots of fridges and freezers. Free tea, coffee and some fruit is available 24/7 which is just brilliant, and there are even some free daily afternoon biscuits. The free breakfast is very good. The hostel is very clean throughout with everything well-maintained. WiFi is excellent. Staff are very friendly and super helpful. Note that Kinlay Hostel is operated by the same people as Snoozles Hostel, which is also superb. I strongly recommend both.

I had a great stay at the Kinlay! Staff were friendly, the hostel was clean, great kitchen facilities and lots of opportunities to socialize with others if that is what you are looking for.

Great loccation, close to pubs and the Latin Quarter, the hotspot for a night in Galway. However, breakfast wasn't so good, with only a few options. Also, cleaning service of the room was not automatic, I guess you had to ask for it? So all in all, it's a good hostel, but a bit expensive for what it offers.

I was very tired when I arrived. The person at the desk noticed and let me check in early so thay I could sleep.

Great stay but I'm still waiting for the reimbursement of the night because Tom made me pay twice by mistake

Was honestly my most favourite stay in Ireland for this trip. The hostel is super clean and quiet and the dining area is lovely. Would definitely stay again

I loved this hostel. It was my first time staying in this type of accommodation and it was a great place to start. Very social and the front desk staff was wonderful.

Near and central.

Arrived early and was able to leave luggage in the secure room. The lovely lady at reception helped me find all the best spots and gave her personal recommendations for the city. The hostel was mostly clean, apart from the showers which I think was more down the to guests rather than them. There were great facilities and a nice communal area. Bedrooms were comfortable with a privacy curtain on each bit, always a huge plus in a hostel! Each bed had its own light and plug/usb socket to charge overnight. Basic breakfast provided the next morning. Definitely would stay again

It was really nice.

Awesome hostel. More of a hotel than a hostel. We had a private room for 4. The rooms were clean, smelled fresh, the beds were on the firm side and comfortable for us, the pillows weren't flat but nice and comfy. Everything smelled and looked new. The breakfast had a lot of variety and very good. Parking is a block away and not free but discounted.

Friendly staff, right in the heart of Galway and just steps from trains, busses and rental car offices, perfect as a hub to explore the west. Also easy walking distance to shops, dining and tourist sites such as the Spanish Arch.

Very comfortable, clean, and quiet. We felt very safe. Nice breakfast. Just a short walk from the bus station.

Great Staff, very central place et very clean

The staff are very helpful and kind. There's a luggage room you can use too although be warned: you may need to play Tetris squeezing yours in. There were a ton of luggages in place. But the room itself was serviceable, but highly dependent on who you get as per usual hostel rules. Not great procedures if you're trying to avoid getting sick. I wore a mask to sleep once I heard 2 people coughing and I only had the curtain to shield myself. Breakfast options were fine. You get a good enough option to be happy to go about your way.

Once arrived very quick check in and info given for stay

First time staying in a hostel/shared room, the experience was rather pleasing. The only downside was that no towels were provided, towels cost 2€ at the front desk. Overall cleanliness was good, the service exceptional! Breakfast was included, very diverse and tasty. Another great thing was the Kinlay Pub Crawl, would definitely recommend participating – met a lot of great fellow travellers and had a great great time!

The bathrooms are clean, bunk beds are spacious with your own light & electric outlet & with curtain, beds are comfortable & nice clean beddings.

A large hostel in the city centre. Even on a Monday, there are drunk Irishmen coming and going at all hours. One guy slept naked after he passed out at 0500. Nice breakfast.

Wonderful Hostel for a few days stay. Clean and comfortable with well equipped large kitchen.

Great stay! Solo female traveller and I stayed in an all girls room. Room was clean, a little stuffy, but great experience. They also do a pub crawl with the other hostels and it’s a great way to meet people if you are travelling alone. I would definitely book again. Staff was great and breakfast had tons of options.

Kinlay hostel is way ahead of the pack in terms of its excellence. The hosts are very competent and friendly. Breakfast is plentiful and quality.

I was bery impressed with the staff. This was the first time I stayed at a hostel and I think I would do it again.

Room and bathroom were clean and beds were comfortable. Bathroom had no fan, or it wasn't working, so room was very humid. False alarm fire alarms went off twice both nights when I was there.

Bathroom was dirty. Could use some shelves and more hooks. Bed could use some hooks or ways to keep purse, glasses or other essentials near you when sleeping.

The location could have not been more perfect! The staff was helpful with suggestions on where to eat. The tour company in the same building was very cost effective too!

Great location right outside Eyre Square, and all staff we interacted with were so friendly. We had a suite, and it was great to have the shower and all in the room with us

MAKE KITCHEN FACILITIES SUCH AS MICROWAVE AMONGST OTHER THINGS USABLE, - AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY. PEOPLE ALSO WANT TO EAT AT OTHER TIMES OTHER THAN BREAKFAST. AND WE'RE STILL PAYING YE TO BE HERE FOR A FULL STAY, YET WE DON'T HAVE FULL USE OF THE SERVICES. IT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH. YE SHOULD BE OBLIGED TO TAKE A THIRD OFF THE COST IF YE DON'T LET US USE THE FULL FACILITIES IN-SITU. IT'S UN-ACCEPTABLE, WE ARE PAYING FOR THE TIME WE ARE HERE.

This hostel is very clean and comfortable. It lost a star due to the breakfast. It consisted of bread, a raisin scone, cold cereal and instant coffee. The second morning we went down the street to a coffee shop. The other issue was when the front desk assigned our room to two ladies who walked in using their key as we were sitting in our room. I mentioned it to the front desk and the guy laughed and said, “my bad. I accidentally gave them a key to 221 instead of 222.” A little concerning, if we hadn’t been there to stop them. Other than that the room was pleasant. The location is EXCELLENT!!! Literally in the middle of everything! We walked out of the hostel and caught our bus for our Galway Tour bus.

It's a really nice hostel, clean and safe. The staff is friendly, the free breakfast is good and when traveling alone a great way to get to know other travellers.

As a 40 yr old I had some reservations about staying in a hostel but it was awesome. Staff was super with checkin and how everything works. Rooms were quiet and facilities very clean. Would highly recommend.

Stay was very good

The staff people daytime and the breakfast room great. However at night both nights people screamed and yelled till 3 AM literally there were drunks both in the dorm rooms and outside in Hallways Talking loud singingpacks of eight and 10 boys the security did nothing

This was a great place for my one night in Galway. The staff were lovely and the location was perfect!

Place was very clean and the showers were a step up from other hostels. Beds all had privacy curtains and a shelf that had plugins and a reading light. It was also very quiet. The breakfast is good with plenty of variety. The staff were all amazing! All so friendly, helpful, knowledgeable about the area, and always ready to answer any questions. I had a great experience there!

Good location and easy to find. Can’t get much better than that in terms of service and comfort.

I liked that the beds have curtains. I appreciated having free coffee/tea and apples . The location is great. The bed was hard to sleep on, but it was alright. I don't like fluorescent lights.

Outstanding staff. Good breakfast buffet. Rooms were a bit small. The female dorm bathroom stinks but the manager is very responsive to guest concerns. Security is awesome. Dining area was ok.

Kinlay Galway is the best hostel I have been in Europe! Clean room, friendly staff, terrific breakfast...Staying in a hostel may be an ordeal in most cases, but staying at Kinlay was an enjoyment even in a shared dorm! Each dorm room has its own sink and shower room with toilet, even though the hallway has separate toilets and shower rooms as well, so I never had to wait to use the toilet or the shower. Each bed also has its own privacy curtain, reading lights, and power outlet, so you are like living in your own pod! If you are in the Galway area, I highly recommend choosing this hostel! Not only it's a terrific place to lay your head, its city centre location by the train and the bus stations makes this hostel a great base to explore Galway and the areas around! *Padlock is available for rent with a refundable deposit, and towel is available for rent for 1 EUR. You may need to bring your own toiletries.

The downtown location was perfect; the hostel had all the amenities needed; the breakfast was plentiful and last - but not least - the staff was fantastic - so kind, helpful and patient with ne.

I stayed in a 6 bed ensuite room for one night. The bed was very comfortable and clean, room was excellent condition. Breakfast was delightful, centrally located, and staff was very friendly. I will be returning in the future!

Pleasant and friendly staff, decent nights sleep, bathrooms were clean and breakfast was a good range of food. The location is incomparable - right smack in town and easy access to buses and trains etc.

Clean rooms, fantastic location, right near Eyre Square

The hostel was nice and clean. The bathrooms were a bit old but nevertheless clean and useful. Only problem I encountered was one of the guys living there. He was literally living there and was a bit strange; he was in the room ALL THE TIME , but that's not the hostel's problem anyway.

Quiet street, but just a skip away from the very lively neighborhood of shopping, pubs, and restaurants.

Acceptable, functional accommodations, and noisy, somewhat-distressing experience. Physical temperature in Kinlay facility was too high.

I visited Galway and stayed at Kinlay. My first international travel, and I travelled solo. The staff at Kinlay made me feel very welcomed. The facility was great. Beautiful common areas. Amazing vibe amongst guest. I just loved this place and the experience. Thank you Kinlay !!!

The staff and service were as good as any I have experienced in ant hotel and I have stayed in places like The Homestead and the Waldorf Astoria. The accommodations were what you expect for a high end hostel. Location was great

Ideal location (bus stations + train station in 5 min walking distance), nice staff, we got an upgrade of our room - perfect!

If all you want is a place to stay that's comfortable and convenient, this hostel fills every need. It's unbelievably convenient--around the corner from the train station and major bus stops and more or less in the old section of Galway. It's clean and well run and pleasant. The staff is friendly and very helpful. So why pay three or four times as much for a downscale hotel room?

I wasn't sure how I would handle the shared room thing but the Kinlay made it easy. The culture is great and the other guests are very respectful of others privacy, and sleeping hours. The hostel is well run and very efficient. The staff are incredibly helpful and made the experience really enjoyable. It is an older building but well maintained and very functional. I was very happy staying there. The rates are very reasonable. Highly recommend it. The location is very close to all the action in Galway city.

This was a convenient spot in galway and the staff was super friendly. Met some lovely people staying in the room. Spent more time exploring than in the venue. Nice to have computers and public space but that space seemed to be occupied fully most of the time I passed thru. I didnt realize that children under the age of 5 were allowed in hostels and another in my room commented that it was a trend. I dont particularly enjoy beig around screaming children who run around without any supervision attempting to play with a pool table they cant even reach. Blame the parents on this more than the kids but it left me disappointed to not be able to participate in the typical communal setting of a hostel. This place also seemed to host a giant group so personally I would attempt to find a place a bit smaller on my next trip. If I had wanted to cook, the kitchen was very crowded and finding a place to sit during breakfast was challenging. Being gluten free a continental breakfast of cereal and toast doesnt cut it so it wasnt that big of a deal - but missed out on lovely morning conversations. I also forget that many places do not have a/c or fans in the room so in the height of summer it is quite miserable to sleep with a window that barely opens. Only an overhead light and really randomly placed flourescents on one side of room not near my bed. Not enough outlets for everyone to charge their devices.

all staff were so kind and room was clean .but there wasn't enough socket for everyone in the room ,so ppl were charging their things in public area. other things were good including breakfast . (you can also eat apples when you want to eat )
