Most beautiful place I have stayed at in Japan will definitely be back

Pool some sand in it and room had a tiny bit of a weird smell but nothings perfect overall the best place we have stayed at in Japan will definitely be back, staff are so helpful and friendly

Wie bereits bekannt etwas abgelegen. Busverbindungen nach Shimoda hören frühen Abend auf. Hotel Restaurant sehr teuer. Kaum Alternativen zum Abendessen in der Nähe.

Stunning location and views, we appreciated the free shuttle to and from Shimoda.

Generally needs a refresh as rooms and so on were dated.

La vue est extraordinaire.

C’est très vétuste et le dîner n’est guère délicieux (du congelé).

La vue sur la baie évidemment. Le personnel aux petits soins, la bonne humeur, l’ambiance un peu vieillotte mais pleine de charme

Amazing views, spacious room, good water pressure, close to a beach.

Place is really run down, it looks like it was nice at one point in time, but currently in a lot of disrepair. Even though I did not use the Onsen, I booked knowing I couldn’t due to my tattoos, they still charged me the extra tax, on top of the $370 (USD) per night (x3) that we paid. While close to a beach, it’s not super close to much else, there is a bus stop close, but stops running fairly early. Walk to bus stop is down/up a very steep hill. While not an issue for my family, if someone has mobility issues, it would be. Dinner services start at 8:00pm. If I were to go back, I’d stay closer to town (Shimoda), with easier access to restaurants and grocery stores, and bus to the beaches (unless the cost factor were to go down enough to basically just paying for the view).

Almost everything else. The hotel condition was very run down, the staff were polite but dismissive, the rooms were unhygienic, the buffet dinners and breakfast were a real scramble, and the location wasn't that good, being situated up a hill from the coastline and far from Shimoda itself.

Staff are very kind and try to be helpful!

The arrangement for room cleaning is easily misunderstood because of the (possibly not ideal) English translation of the practical information sheet. However, it didn't matter much!

La ubicación excelente a 5 min andando de la playa. Personal muy atento aunque ingles superlimitado.. Las vistas de la playa impresionantes y el restaurante ramen muy bueno.

El hotel es muy old fashion, tuvo su época dorada hace tiempo. Baño pequeño. Elegimos futones, no eran incómodos pero se hacía raro dormir en el suelo. Nuestra habitacion olía a humedad, pero podría ser por tener la bañera termal onsen en la terraza con jardín. La experiencia no fue mala pero si mejorable.

It is in a great location close to the Sotuara beach.

We booked a room with a private onsen. These are located on the 3rd floor. Unfortunately, the room was very musty and my first night sleeping was unpleasant. The second night we put the AC on which helped, but the room still that had a musty scent We also had a corner suite overlooking the beach/pool on the 4th floor. Beautiful views from here, but again a slight musty scent.

What a wonderful getaway from Tokyo. There was a shuttle bus from the train station to the hotel, and my room was to die for! Absolutely beautiful room with its own outdoor hot springs bath on the balcony with a beautiful view, I spent a lot of time in that bath! The futon bed was very comfortable (although I doubled up on the mattress to be honest) and it was a proper western style memory foam pillow, not a hard "bean pillow" like often found at Ryokan hotels. I also went down to the bathhouse and enjoyed a soak there, and it was excellent. The staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble for them.

My only disappointment was the food. I expected a buffet for breakfast so that was fine, but the photos on the hotel listing suggested the included dinner would be a Kaiseki style dinner served to the table, however that was not the case. Dinner was also a buffet, admittedly it was a very varied buffet, and included Shabu Shabu at the table, so it was delicious...but it wasn't what I was expecting from the photos here. So please be aware of that.

Wrong room originally due to name misread

朝風呂に入ってる時に波の音が聞こえるところ。とても、癒されました。

景色。浜まで直ぐに行けるロケーション

バイキング。連休中だからか2泊共同じ内容で残念でした。電話予約の時には2日目は懐石と言われたけれど、(スタッフが連休を失念したのかもしれません)バイキングも料理数が少なく、提供が間に合わず、直ぐになくなり待たされることがかなりあった。出遅れたらデザートのアイスも無くなり補充されずやや不満足。しゃぶしゃぶのお肉の質は良かったが直ぐに無くなっていた。

フロントの対応 4時間近くの時間をかけて到着したにも関わらず 労いの言葉もようこそ感の言葉もいらっしゃいませもなかった 旅館の名入りのはっぴを着ている方方とは明らかに門構えが違いまだ何もしてないのにがっかりだった 以前から通っていたけど時代の流れを痛感しました ただ誰も悪くはなく、それ以上である事はもはや有り得ないと悟りました

受付時、検索に時間がかかった。予約していなかったのかと不安になった。 食事は８８００円のビュッフェだったが、食べたいものが補充されず食べれず。楽しみにしていたお刺身や、フルーツがなかった。

景色がとにかくきれいでした。 スタッフの方がみんな親切でした。

スタッフの対応も良く、フロント、中居さん、お掃除の方対応は気持ち良かったです。食事も夕食、朝食共に洗練されていて満足でした。

I love the place , is quite. Sauna are incredible. Facilities is good. Good for honeymoon and couples.

外国人の従業員さんがたくさんいらっしゃったが、元気に一生懸命頑張っているよう感じた。 チェックアウト時に通路ですれ違ったおじいさんも丁寧に御礼挨拶をされ、気持ち良く出掛けられた。

通路にゴキブリの死体が落ちている。 景色は良いが窓が汚い。 日本人のスタッフさんは気遣いができないと感じる。

Fabulous Ryoken accommodation. Lovely staff and very comfortable.

部屋の洗面台に前の宿泊者の付け爪が落ちていてギョッとした。。古い施設なのは仕方ないとして、もう少し清潔にしてほしい。あと、自販機が少なくて不便。お酒の自販機も各階に置いてほしい

部屋、浴場からの景色はまずまずでした。

部屋付きの露天風呂にシャワー、シャンプー等が無く、ランクからすればそんなものかもしれませんが そうなるとこの価格は高すぎです。Booking.comの支払い価格に食事代も含めるべきです。

スタッフの方がとても親切で対応も良く、又清潔感のあるお部屋から見る海の景色が綺麗でした。ビュッフェもとても美味しくて、海も近くにあります。快適な旅行になりました。ありがとうございました。来年もまた宿泊に行きたいと思います。

本来提前打电话说明了到达火车站的时间，却没有送迎巴士来接我们，等了很久，因为等到了五点半，已经不可能来车接我们了，没办法，只好自掏腰包打出租去酒店。非常糟糕的体验。

Location, view and bedding

I had a room with a ceramic bath overlooking the bay which was stunning. Great value for money. The rest of the hotel was a bit faded and dated but the room made up for and short falls there.

No loungers by the pool. Not enough choice for food ifupu didn't want the full buffet.

スタッフのデヴィさんがとても気さくで親切にしてくださり、充実した旅行になりました。夜中に小腹が空いたので、大浴場近くの軽食店でラーメンを食べました。そこのご主人も人当たりが良く、また利用したいと思うお店でした。お風呂からの眺めも良く、海を見渡しながらお湯に浸かれるのはとても満足できます。夏だと虫がいるため露天風呂の利用は人によっては抵抗があると思いますが、秋以降のオフシーズン時に利用するのが良いかもしれません。

Really helpful staff, especially the young receptionist and our Nepalese waitress. Both worked so hard to help and guide us. The Onsen were very good, tidy and well organised. Plenty of information about the hotel but always someone to ask, staff were all very polite. Breakfast was amazing, so much to choose from both Japanese and Western style. Evening meal in the great hall was enjoyable and an interesting experience. Would recommend you try it.

Some parts of the hotel clearly needed some decoration and areas appeared to be no longer in use eg the pool, unclear if it was out of season or just not in use.

The view was absolutely gorgeous, and the staff were so lovely and kind. They really tried to make our stay as good as possible, I will come again and will recommend to my friends.

It’s in a beautiful spot but it is a taxi ride away from the station. Luckily the taxis are not expensive, and the hotel has a shuttle bus in the morning if you need it.

No food services in site. Which isn't an issue as there's plenty to eat in surrounding areas.

Though well appointed, the room interior was a little dated.

The private onsen outside bath with bay view is incredible! The dinner (not included in the price) was very tasty and prepared with lots of love and care.

部屋からの景色は、言葉を失うほど美しく、感謝の一言です。質問や不明な点は、スタッフの方が敏速に対応してくださいました。 一つだけ改善していただきたいのは、朝食の時、ソルト＆ペッパーがないことです。ソーセージや卵にペッパーをかけたかったのに、スタッフの方に聞いてもないということでした。スクランブルエッグが、水っぽいのもちょっといただけないと思いました。 温泉をとても楽しめました。 ありがとうございました。

Staff were extremely friendly. Incredible view living up to its name. Great body care products.

Huge bug was on the baseboard and I was paranoid for the 2 nights stay since we were sleeping on the tatami. The public onsen were dirty. I could see black deposits sitting at the corner of the onsen in both indoor and outdoors. Whole building looks dated and overpriced with no meal provided. Even bottled water priced at 200 yen.

オーシャンビューの部屋でしたが目の前の海の景色もとても綺麗でスタッフさんの対応も皆さんとても良かったです！

We had a great stay at Shimoda View Hotel. My partner is vegan, and the chef kindly arranged full vegan dinners for her on both nights we stayed there. Not many other places were willing to do this. Also the quality and care put into the food was greatly appreciated! My partner felt very well catered to. The staff were all very friendly as well, especially Kaori and Devi who went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The room itself was excellent. It was very spacious, with a private open air bath overlooking the ocean. Well worth the stay here - hope to come back someday!

Location is perfect, very nice view, it’s an old hotel . The bar was perfect too, very nice bartender

The room was dirty, spider web on the ceiling, and water spots, walls have mold , we understand coz it’s an hotel , but we needed to call the front desk because duvet had a blood markings in the middle . And the old guy staff two of them one in the front dest not so cheerful ,not welcoming , the duvet guy was also had a bad attitude, like it was the linen guys fault .

The view to the bay

Our experience with Shimoda View Hotel was very unpleasant. Rotten walls and ceilings, dead and living insects in the floors, a moldy smell everywhere, staff who fitting their trousers in front of guests, just fish-containing breakfast, dirty pool area, rusty stairs and just one English speaking person - we are not the first guests who complain the lack of a proper level.

Very relaxing- think we may have left a garment behind? Is there a way to communicate this to staff?

The room is really spacious, the view was wonderful, we were on the 9th floor and we could see the whole beach and some of the islands too. The breakfast and dinner was really good as well, I recommend getting both as there are no other restaurants in walking distance. We could park out car without reservation, and the beach was a few minutes of (slopy) walk away.

There were insects in the outdoor onsen, but given that we were there in summer this is unavoidable.

We were given a spacious room with a private outdoor Hinoki wooden bath. The evening meal in the banquet room was exceptional and very delicious. They staff and manager did great job in rectifying the original reservation mistake/error. Thank you!

(1) I originally booked suite with an outside bath online. HOWEVER, When booking.com offered me to UPGRADE my reservation, I was under the impression it meant having dinner served in the room. Both Booking.com and the property staff did not let me know well in advance that UPGRADED status means a room on the top floor WITHOUT an outdoor private bath. (It clearly did not fell like an upgrade). I upgraded my reservation 2 months in advance and NO correction/ information was given to me during that time. We arrived at the hotel extremely confused and disappointed. HOWEVER, after meeting with the staff and manager to discuss the misunderstanding, the staff and manager rectified the mistake. (2) I also reserved a shuttle van to have us brought to the hotel from the station on the day of our check-in. The hotel staff I was in communication with confirmed it with me in my initial confirmation. HOWEVER, on the day of our arrival NO shuttle van was present at the station, as originally promised. We had to call the property to ask them to come get us. (3) The air in the suite room was hot and dry; Please provide humidifiers in the room.

評判通り、部屋、大浴場ともにオーシャンビューでとても見晴らしがよい部屋でした。お正月の家族良好に使用しましたが、家族4人大満足でした。

the private onsen was awesome. Such a great view of they bay, and very well done. The room was comfortable, and the hotel was in good order. Loved the path down to beach available to guests as well as the observation deck near the pool area. The breakfast was really tasty as well.

The room was slightly tired, The In-room onsen was very very hot. As long as you add some cold water (provided) it's OK after that.

子供連れでしたが、早めに入室出来たり食事の時も 心使いが嬉しかったです。 海までの距離は坂なので少し 大変ですが プール気持ち良かったです。
