The Riverside Inn

Ideal for Thames Path walkers with a splendid garden overlooking the start of the navigable Thames. Chances are you'll get here early after the relatively short walk from Cricklade, so enjoy the bar and food offerings in the spacious pub building. The room was a comfortable twin with everything you need for an overnight stay, while being across the car park from the pub itself, so noise was not a problem. If you're thinking of making an early start in the morning for the longer stage to Newbridge, better to get a bacon roll from Budgens on the High Street, as breakfast is from 9am.

It was good, although the floor covering in the bathroom could do with replacing and we had problems connecting to the internet at times.

It was by the river and a short walk to town. My single room was good, plenty of tea and coffee!! Nice walks along the river.

The room as great. Another fan in the side bed area would be nice as it was so stuffy due to lack of air flow. Some mold in the shower area.

The location was very nice. The room was clean and well presented. Unfortunately there was zero soundproofing between rooms therefore we could hear all conversations, tv, shower, toilet flushing and unfortunately snoring all night from next door. The service in the restaurant was particularly poor on one occasion when we had the cheek to ask for chips with the lasagne rather than garlic bread. I was told in no uncertain terms how garlic bread was cheaper therefore we couldn’t get chips, despite the other meal we ordered having chips with it, so all that was required was to throw a few extra in the fryer. They need to work on their customer service. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable, but didn’t sleep anyway due to the constant noises from next door, not to mention the bin lorry arriving early morning right outside the window which faced the car park.

Tinny bathroom, very old, not clean, unpleasant smell

Stayed 2 nights at the riverside inn room 1a was spacious and very clean. Large shower with instant hot water. Very comfy bed and very peaceful and quiet. During our stay the weather was 26° and it was great to sit by the river enjoying the food. We had visited a few years previously just for a drink and had promised we would return and stay. It didn't let us down and we will return in the future.

Really nice room, warm and comfortable and biscuits and hit chocolate!, and a great pub with generous portions of great food. Definitely will stay again. Only downside was they ran out of sausages and mash in the pub 😭 But I'll overlook that.

Lovely hotel and pub on the riverside

Out of season, and we just managed to get a meal when we arrived, as they stopped serving a 5 pm and closed the bar at about 7 pm on Sunday. This was not well communicated by Hotels.com. But overall it is a very nice location, situated on the river and in Lechlade. Access to the Thames path was very easy and we enjoyed the walks. The room (Windrush) was very nice and well appointed. This was the second time we had stayed in this Inn. The staff were as friendly as every and the service and meals were good. We would recommend this Inn to all.

We had a great sized family room. It had a separate room within it that had a single bed for my child. Overall a very nice place to stay for a night.

On the Thames River. No breakfast service Monday to Friday

Honestly this place is beautiful from the outside and on the surface the room looked lovely but we didn’t use the shower because it was dirty and had some - maybe paint - split all over the base and there was paint peeling off the wall. The food was ok but pricey for Weatherspoons level food quality. I’m disappointed as it could be so much more!

Beautiful spot right on the Thames. Cute rooms with plenty of space. Boat rental office on the property was a big plus. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.

Lovely spot by the river

Ok for one overnight stop for family gathering in Lechlade. Shower very tired, paint spill on shower tray and tile grout very old. Made me just leave early in the morning and shower at home.

We were doing the Thames walk and this hotel is right on the river. Our room was big with a nice bed..We have some great food in the bar.

Good location

Lovely accomadation, some paint peeling from walls.nice and quiet. What concens me is A lovely setting for the pub , the 6 staff all looked underage , so busy brushing there hair and having a laugh and parading around preening themselves , not a hood reputation for the pub. The manager was non existent There was no person supervising and it gave no confidence at all for such a fine location

Lovely place to stay. Beer garden overlooking the river with plenty of seating. Great food and atmosphere had evening meal and breakfast. Room very comfortable and had tea making facilities. Would recommend

A lovely hotel in a lovely position by the river. The room well designed, clean, fresh and well equipped with all needs. We will definitely return when we can.

Enjoyed our stay on a hot summer evening by the Thames, having an excellent meal from the pubs kitchen. Even with a coach load of 20 people who arrived just before me, our meals were delivered in only 30 mins, well done. Had a bit of problem trying to open the windows in this hot night, but the manager was very helpful in assisting.

The TV had no signal, basic error

Good, pub good food and service. Quickest check in in my life less than 2minutes. We stayed in a twin was good but it didn't have a wardrobe or anything like it to hang clothes up.

Arriving at 5pm on a Sunday we were informed that food was only being served until 6pm. This was not the only inconvenience with the food as breackfast is not available on most weekdays either. We decided to find somewhere else to eat but quickly found out local restaurants do not open on Mondays. Although the room had been recently refurbished, we found that the shower shelf was poorly finished, shower hose encrusted with limescale, light fittings very dirty, plenty of co webs and all coners of the room looked as though they had not been cleaned properly. The blind did not fully cover the window and from the bed you could clearly see outside so anyone outside could easily see you. However the staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was amazing.

Rooms and beds were good. No mirror in the bathroom. Kitchen sink was gross, not cleaned, not that we wanted to cook. Note - No food in the restaurant after 10pm or before 9am (or 10). What made the experience not so great was that the frontdesk’s inflexibility - they wouldn’t give me water bottles and charge it the room after 10pm. Though I am staying there, they can’t put it on the tab or keep a tab or take the payment. I even mentioned, write it down and I will pay when I check out, nope. They just can’t comprehend someone is asking for water bottles after 10pm. The girl was so rude. Wouldn’t think outside the box.

No shelving to put toothpaste, toothbrush, makeup

Lovely stay. Great staff. Good meal. Room was nice. There were a few minor maintenance issues which did not cause any problems and the staff were already aware. Disappointing that there was not breakfast available on the day of our stay but totally understand. Will definitely return

The standard of the room was poor with shower not clean and paint work peeling off in bedroom and bathroom No ironing board or iron in room and unable to contact to asking in the morning as I left at 7 am

Really love the surroundings and the rooms are very pleasant and clean. Would love to return again and such a delightful experience. The bed is comfortable. Love the River. Lovely snacks and coffee provided in the room.

Lovely place to stay with family. ( 2 adults and one child). Cosy place, room was spacious and superbly clean and had all the required amenities. Plenty of parking space. Riverside inn is by the river and convenient to stay when visiting cotswold.

Lovely pub very pretty right next to the River Thames. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Did not eat in the pub but good menu reasonably priced and the food I saw being served looked good. Room spacious and away from the pub with a private entrance. Comfortable bed good size tv good shower and plentiful supplies of toiletries and tea and coffee etc. Town very pretty and peaceful with a few more nice pubs all about 4 minutes walk away.

It was ok for what we paid and the room was quite large and the bed was comfortable but no mirrors other than a small one in the bathroom and there was paint on the shower floor plus the buger at dinner was vile and was not eaten.

Lovely place, beautiful location. Room was spacious and had everything I needed. Unfortunately the walls are extremely thin and I could hear everything in the room next door. This made it quite unsettling at night as every time they opened their door for the bathroom, it sounded like they were opening my door. There was also no extra lock or chain on the inside of the room door which I didn’t feel comfortable with.

Really unimpressed. There are 4 options to book. Single, double, twin and quad rooms. All are named as "rooms" however on the app when booking the quad room pictures show three interconnecting rooms, a living area, a twin and a double room. This is why I booked. Travelling with my young daughter and elderly mother we needed the separate sleeping areas. Upon check in, 2 people at the bar in front of me, so I waited patiently for the staff to get to me. When it came to being at the front of the queue they started pouring drinks for punters sat on a table near to this that had not left their seats, yet were being served before. No, "we'll be with you in a minute" or anything. No acknowledgement at all. Once I had the key and we made our way across the car park to get settled, I open the door to our accommodation to find one large room with two single beds and a double. Not at all what was advertised on the app at time of booking. I go to speak to staff and they explain they have 2 quad rooms. The 1 pictured online and the 1 they put us in. They could not move us as had other people in the other room. I took this up with Hotels.com via chat and found them no help whatsoever. As we had "booked just one room" Hotels.com uninterested in the false advertisement on their site. There was a boiler whirring in the room which meant none of us slept. window wide open yet all of us too hot. The bathroom was in a horrid state. mould and very poorly cleaned. I could go on.

It was great. Food was great. Room was ok, fits perfectly for us family of 3. Only thing was the toilet, wasn’t cleaned very well.

I honestly could not fault my stay at Riverside. The room was clean and tidy and there was plenty of choice of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. My son loved all the biscuits and the little room with the single bed in. In the morning we went to the pub for breakfast and it was one of the best breakfasts I’d had in a long while.

Very convenient for the Thames Path walk. Not so easy to get to by public transport.

From start to finish we had a great 1night stay. Only down full was no breskfast served during the week, but this did not spoil our stay . Will defo return

Great place in the hands of people who don't care if you are happy or not, bad attitude

This place is fantastic and they do all the hard things well. Location, staff, cleanliness and amenities. The one thing I would criticize is the mattress is terrible as in some 1970s spring torture device. If they fixed that I would never want to leave.

My room was small but well furnished with a comfortable single bed and well stocked bathroom across the landing. Anything I asked for was provided. However the TV seemed not to be working - lack of signal?

Great Thames riverside accommodation location. Sunday “Hospitality” B&B new low. Bar and restaurant early closing. Restricted food services. No Sunday evening dinner. No Monday morning breakfast. Web site says “free breakfasts”! aka Bring your own!

Nice clean room

We stayed in Leach 1 - absolutely beautiful room - bed was so comfortable and there was a great selection of teas, coffees and biscuits. The area is lovely as well. Only negative was the Wi-Fi and tv connection was awful and at times non-existent.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting 5 star but clean is the bare minimum and quite frankly it wasn’t. The bath/shower being dirty is not reassuring. If guests have access to something like a boiler cupboard (leading from the bathroom) then there shouldn’t be rubbish all over the floor of it. The mattress was incredibly thin and they had tried to make it better by a mattress topper (that could have been a duvet tbh) that did not fit so did not really help the situation. Unknowingly I was late for check in as the info I was provided from hotels.com advised check was open much later than it is on a Sunday so I do appreciate the member of staff staying later for us to collect keys. The staff were friendly. It was the condition/cleanliness of the rooms that was not good enough.

Beautiful setting right next to river . Car parking free to residents . Staff very helpful and friendly . The room we stayed in was overall good .could have done with a little TLC, especially the radiator in the bathroom . That definitely needed a coat of paint . Mattress was a little on the soft side for us . No hair dryer ( not sure if they had one we could have borrowed from reception ) Plenty of tea and coffee in room along with biscuits too ! We found everything quite adequate fir our 2night stay and would stay again another time .

Our room was very good except for the mattress which was lumpy and hard. I had to put another pillow underneath to make it more comfortable.

My partner and I have spent many days and evenings at the Riverside pub and have throughly enjoyed the atmosphere, very friendly staff and such a beautiful setting by the river. As it was a birthday celebration we couldn’t think of anywhere better to go . The accommodation did not disappoint, very modern clean and comfortable . Will definitely be staying again.

The only reason you would stay here is for a convenient place to collapse after a long stretch of the Thames Path. It was fine and this area of the country is expensive so you don't get much for your money. Clean enough, a bit shabby, we didn't bother with the food at the pub as there is an excellent BYO booze curry house close by where the food is really good.

Great location. The potential for the "rooms" to be a great self catering flat was wasted. Would have been so much better for us if the kitchenette had been usable with working cooker, fridge, crockery and cutlery

There was no breakfast even though the booking was included. There was no remote for tv so could not watch, the toilet was dirty!!

Friendly riverside pub with rooms and free parking too. Very welcoming and friendly. Due to Covid restrictions excellent breakfast in cafe around the corner. Large rooms and comfortable pub lodging.

We booked this hotel stay which included breakfast in the booking. when we arrived we were told they were not doing breakfast! They told me we could go to a few breakfast places down the road in town or we could have a small dry breakfast bag brought to our rooms in the morning but we would have to pay extra for it! Eventually after reiterating several times that we have already paid for breakfast they agreed we could have the breakfast bag without paying extra but that only materialised on the first morning and we received nothing the second morning. This is very poor customer service, there should have been no question about providing an alternative if they were not doing there hot breakfasts for Whatever reason (They were doing food the rest of the day I might add) or they could have contacted people who booked beforehand and told them they were now unable to provide a breakfast and offered them a discount on there booking or the ability to cancel. I really was quite shocked by there attitude to this. Apart from that the hotel itself is in a very pleasant setting by the water in a nice village with some nice walks nearby and easy access to the rest of the Cotswolds. We had dinner there one night overlooking the water which was nice.

Great location next to River Thames, however on check in we were put in a smaller room than we booked on Expedia, one without a fridge that we were relying on to store perisables we had with us without an adiquite explanation. No Wi-Fi in room, only decaf coffee sachets, no milk not even uht, can only assume not replenished. Bathroom not overly clean, toilet, sink and shower screen coated with limescale. Extractor fan filthy with dust. No shampoo only body wash provided again can only presume not replenished. No breakfast provided as advertised on Expedia
