Room smells
It was awesome. The advisors did a great job but the thing I didn't like is the fact that there were a ton of different bugs in the corridor
Everything was above expectation, nice beautiful rooms, fantsatic food, first class service. I would espcially like to mention two members of staff, namely P. Caminda who was in charge of our room and Ms. Madhusha who really went out of her way to help me when I hurt my knee. She is an excellent representative for her country.
Second visit and it was just as wonderful as the first! From the beginning to the end everything was perfect with happy smiles and great care. A special thank you to Ms. Madhusha who was truly amazing. She gave such lovely, caring attention to our baby girl and she absolutely adored her. The food was excellent too. We had a fantastic stay and will surely visit again.
Location and atmosphere is amazing as well as cleanness of entire hotel. Mr Kasun at front desk is very helpful and enthusiastic person. But the food is not tasty and no more verities.
The best hotel i have been to. Everything is just super, service , food, atmosphere, room, pool . Feeling so good, and happy. Highly recommended to everyone. Royal palms beach hotel lives up to its name , Royal !!
To start the staff are acceptionale and can't do enough to help. Reception and hotel entrance is fantastic Rooms : our room 344 The bathroom was acceptable but the room was dated and needed repairs. Lovely balcony overlooking pool and sea. The air con is not cold enough and you cannot alter it. Did not sleep well. Lowest temp on arrival was 27. After a complaint got it down to 23.5 which still wasn't good 😕 Food It's OK nothing special. The quality of meat is very poor. Prawns in currys always had shell on. Temperature of food not hot enough. Breakfast was good. We chose to eat in the cabana restaurant most days because it was freshly cooked food. It is cheap too and my favourite staff member works there 😀 a young boy and his parents should be so proud of him. Whilst the grounds are spectacular and we'll maintained its let down with the dated swim up bar. Pool needs re tiling both in and around it. Pool is warm and not refreshing. Entertainment The Entertainment was OK but same songs every night. 😴 All inclusiveness No free mini bar which was very disappointing Poor lion ice beer . You have to pay for any other beer. All cocktails are chargeable. You get 2 free waters a day that's it,! Lifts; please put a air freshener in as they smell awful. There is no night club. It shut 2 yrs ago. Never saw the cafe open There is no beach Out and about Go to bentota beach it's lovely Yala safari is great Elephant sanctuary was amazing We used Robert for our tuk tuk he was amazing. Took us everywhere and didn't cost much All in all one of the best holidays I've been on.
The gardener was keep looking and looking to my daughters bedroom window while watering plants. He was watering those plant for long time and just looking inside. My daughters are 11 and 13 and that was so unprofessional, impropriate and horrible experience in this hotel. Even when I came to balcony hopefully he will move away, he was just creepy smiling and looking. Horrible!
It was the best solo trip I have ever taken. Not only did the wonderful island, nature, and ocean contribute to this, but especially the remarkable friendliness of the locals and, in particular, the hotel staff. At no point did it feel like you were being treated well just in the hope of getting a good tip, as is the case in many other countries. I believe friendliness is simply part of the culture here. I got to see many amazing things, and even during the off-season, a vacation on the west coast is definitely worth it. In the south of the island, there are also a few dive shops open during the off-season, which can be reached in about 1.5 hours using PickMe (the local Uber). Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to explore the entire island. I guess that means I’ll have to come back—and I would love to stay at this hotel again. The food was truly fantastic. Every day there was something for everyone, and (almost) everything tasted incredible. A special thanks to my personal hotel guide, Hansa—he truly anticipated and fulfilled my every wish. He put in so much effort and found a solution for every problem. My room boy, Chanaka, made sure my room looked brand new every single day. He added sweet little details to the room daily, and I am very grateful to him for making me feel so comfortable. The pool boys, Nimal and Sarath, set up, prepared, and reserved my sunbed by the pool every day without me ever having to say a word. That was really something special. And not to be forgotten is the trainer and entertainer Lahiru (Lion), who kept me active as a solo traveler every day. He played volleyball with me in the water and on land and had many great activity offers to pass the time. That was truly special, and I hope to see you again sometime, buddy! Unfortunately, I don't know the names of all the staff members, but I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the lovely people at the bar, the chefs, the service team, the men and women at reception, and the kind, warm-hearted people who opened doors for me every day and welcomed me with a smile. Thank you all for a wonderful time here. Highly recommended! I will definitely come back one day. Johannes
Location ok, nice hotel with friendly staff, good atmosphere . Clean rooms every day or more, they change towels when you like. Good service.
All the workers especially dilhani was extremely friendly and comforting upon our arrival and as we were vegetarians the chef made complimentary dishes to satisfy our stay more than necessary which were soo tasty I can’t put into words. The only sad part is we only stayed two days
We had an amazing stay! The service was exceptional from every single staff member, including the pool attendants and gardeners. They were genuinely caring, and even surprised us by washing our dirty car—such a thoughtful gesture. The food was absolutely fantastic, with every meal exceeding our expectations. Rooms were better than we expected.Overall, an outstanding experience with incredible hospitality. A well-deserved 10/10. We can’t wait to come back!
We stayed at Royal Palms Beach Hotel for the weekend and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The food was exceptional, with a great variety of dishes at the buffet, and every item was delicious and full of flavor. The hotel is beautifully maintained, spotlessly clean, and our room was comfortable, spacious, and well-appointed. The pool was unique and a lot of fun, making our stay even more enjoyable. What truly made our visit special was the outstanding hospitality. Every member of the staff was warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful. A special thank you to Dilhani, who coordinated everything throughout our stay. She was kind, attentive, and always happy to assist, making the entire experience smooth and stress-free. We will definitely be visiting again and highly recommend Royal Palms Beach Hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with family or friends.
11/ 07/2026 Day out with colleagues (work place) We had amazing time!! Very nice staff !! great atmosphere !! Isuru is a great event host… recreation assistant…..good person 🧍👏👏 Nice food 🥘 Hope to visit there with family Enjoyed 👍🙏
We spent six nights at this delightful Royal Palms Beach Hotel in Kalutara after our exciting, adventurous group tour of Sri Lanka ended on 2nd July. Received a warmest welcome from staff with refreshing cold drink, ideal after a long travel. Check in was very swift and luggage did not take long to arrive in room. Our room was near reception and dining hall that was just ideal for us Room was on first floor, quite large and spacious with balcony overlooking the deep end of outdoor large swimming pool and partial view of sea. Our sincere thanks to Sathyaseelan Ajesh in the back office for providing us a convenient room near reception, dining hall and most importantly mosquito net over bed as we had been bitten by those dreaded insects during our travel. Ajesh, is a courteous, well spoken young man dedicated to his profession. It was a pleasure meeting him. The bar has both snooker table and pool table at cost for one hour. Enjoyed playing pool with Lahiru/animation team. The gym was well equipped and often used by most staying guests. The exterior of hotel is vast with plenty of palm trees looking absolutely divine. Deck chairs plentiful. Unfortunately, the beach was severely damaged in 2004 tsunami and never to be restored because of financial constraint. Our housemaid certainly had a vivid imagination of creating animal sculpture with hand towels every day keeping us entertained and amused. The food with so much variety, varied daily with live station, all sumptuous together with the desserts. All the staff throughout the hotel were warm, courteous at all times that makes the Royal Palms Beach such an enjoyable place to relax and stay, that we (group) thoroughly enjoyed. The railway station is 10 to 15 minutes casual walk from hotel to Colombo City as we did for a day outing and It takes around 80 to 90 minutes along the coastal route and the cost was so cheap 100LKR one way.
Royal Palms Beach Hotel is a fantastic beachfront location which offers a relaxing atmosphere for a coastal getaway along with massive pool area curving around its main building. The rooms were comfortable, and the gardens and pool area were pleasant to spend time in. The staff were friendly and accommodating throughout our stay and gave us great advice on where to go to enjoy the city. The food was good being served in a buffet style with a wide variety of options from Sri Lankan to international styles of food. While some aspects of the hotel could benefit from updating, we still had an enjoyable experience overall. It offers good value for travellers looking to unwind by the beach.
We had a perfect vacation in your Hotel. The atmosphere is very calm and the serive of the staff and the food is really good. Ms Madusha has been very helpful. Looking forward to see you all. Thank you
Good! Had so much fun in the pool! Thanks to Lahiru, we had a good time playing pool volleyball ❤️💪
The rooms are large and well equipped. Very comfortable beds. The staff throughout the hotel were perfect in every way. It's just a shame that the beach has gone and the nearest one is full of refuge.
Very friendly and helpful staff. ♡ Elegant lobby. Big and beautiful rooms with balcony (very proper and well cleaned, nice view to the garden and the pool, but unfortunately only one "old-fashioned" key for two persons!) Large swimmingpool with poolbar. Many plants (beautiful palmtrees) Unfortunately no beach and no possibiluty to swim in the sea due to very high waves. Great choice in the restaurant (you have to get used to many spicy food and a "burning" tongue - or renounce like I did)
We took our school class trip here for the day 56 teenagers. The facility is lovely and the service was excellent. Dilhani & Jaindu made sure we had everything we needed throughout the day.
A lovely hotel ,ideally placed for romantic sunsets - food wonderful, especially if you're lucky enough to get a set menu. The steak was marvellous and the seafood plate was fantastic. We stayed for 4 nights and found the buffet was delicious very time with a real mix to keep you interested - they did a masala dosa for me and it was excellent. The staff were all very friendly and efficient - a charming lady called Dilharu who was always on hand to make us feel at home. The room was spotless and there were always staff on hand keeping it clean and well stocked. The swimming pools and pool bar were always clean and tidy . One small problem - it could do with a beach -all there is is a fence and a pile of rocks ! Would definitely stay again.
We recently spent a night in the Suite at Royal Palms Beach Hotel, Kalutara, and it turned out to be a wonderful family getaway. The suite was spacious and thoughtfully laid out, with two washrooms, which made a big difference when travelling as a family. One of our favourite features was the outdoor jacuzzi—a great place to unwind after spending time around the resort. The beds were extremely comfortable, and we all enjoyed a restful night's sleep. The weather was quite windy during our stay, but it only added to the charm of the beachfront setting. The kids absolutely loved running around in the breeze. The food was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our stay. Every meal was well prepared, flavourful, and offered excellent variety. A heartfelt thank you to Executive Chef Bandula, Chef Taranga, and Chef Asantha for making our dining experience so memorable. The team even surprised us with a beautifully prepared special prawn platter, which was a lovely gesture. The pool is one of the largest we've experienced at a beach hotel in Sri Lanka. It is spacious enough for both adults and children to enjoy without feeling crowded. Our kids spent hours in the water, and it became one of the best parts of the trip. What truly elevated the experience was the hospitality. The team looked after us throughout our stay, making us feel genuinely welcome. We were also touched by the thoughtful gifts prepared for us, which made the visit feel even more personal. Overall, there is honestly very little to fault. Between the spacious suite, excellent sleep quality, outstanding food, impressive pool, and genuine hospitality, Royal Palms Beach Hotel delivered a memorable experience from start to finish. Highly recommended, especially for families looking for a relaxing beachfront escape. We'll certainly be back. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Food is very tasty. Service Satisfied. Atmosphere good
We had an absolutely wonderful stay! This is our 4th stay. The hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The facilities were excellent—clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. What truly made our experience special was the exceptional service from the staff. Everyone was warm, friendly, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure we had a pleasant stay. We felt genuinely welcomed and well looked after throughout our visit by Dilhari. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so memorable. We would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here again
Impeccably maintained premises featuring a large, pristine swimming pool, welcoming and friendly staff, and spotless rooms. The dining experience was equally impressive, offering a wide variety of delicious dishes alongside excellent service.
Lovely hotel. The staff were exceptional and couldn’t be more helpful and good at their jobs. Enjoyed our few days here.
Hotel is good staff is good. Foods are vey tasty. Overall experince is execellant. Specially Madhavee from guest relations did an amazing job within our stay. Always talk with a nice smile and look after us evry time with good caring. All good.
Food amazing, and so much choice for everyone. Our room is lovely, very spacious and good facilities. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Dilhani has helped organise a very special 80th birthday celebration for my partner and she has done a fantastic job
All the staff are lovely, very welcoming and helpful. Enjoyed the activities organised by Lahiru - water aerobics, yoga, etc. and also had great massages at the spa.
Had a fantastic time, the room was spacious and clean, the food was great and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. Special thanks to Raveen for the extra help, we will definitely be coming here again.
Very good service. Rooms perfect. Staff very friendly. Specially Ms Dilhani helped us a lot. Food was very yummy. Surrounding very beautiful. Planning to go again
Right from the check-in, the entire experience at Royal Palms Hotel was truly pleasant and memorable. They thoughtfully arranged a room with a direct sea view exactly as per our request, which made our stay even more special. The reception staff, especially Tharindu, was extremely helpful and ensured that all our requests were attended to with great care and professionalism. The room was spacious, cosy, and beautifully arranged, creating a very relaxing atmosphere throughout our stay. All six meals during our stay were served as buffets, and the food was absolutely delicious. The variety and spread were impressive, while the taste and quality were exceptional. The restaurant team, headed by Chandra, was superbly hospitable and looked after the guests warmly and attentively. A special mention goes to the young aspiring trainee Maleesha, who truly went above and beyond to provide outstanding service. The pool area was another highlight of the stay. The jacuzzi and especially the air bubble feature made the experience extremely enjoyable and relaxing. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Royal Palms Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and hospitable getaway.
Service was the perfect example for the other hotels
It was thoroughly enjoyable. The staff was very nice, especially the lifeguards and hansa at the reception desk. Would definetly come and stay here if I were to come to Kalutara for a tournament again.
Excellent services, gym, swimming, reception...thank you Looking forward to visiting Sri Lanka soon and staying at the Royal Palm hotel
Very nice place with extremely friendly Personal. Lahira (Animateur) was especially nice. Food was Always good. Unfortunately No beach.
The stay was great, the hotel staff were very welcoming and the room had an amazing ocean view.
Mr Tharindu and Vihanga are very helpful as well as the cleaning crew
I love this place .it's also very good experience with Mr. Tharindu from reception. He was very much helping atitude when we were facing problems for reorganizing our rooms.
The food is delicious & the location is relaxing❤️
It was an amazing experience.Mr Kasun was great help. Our rooms were well cleaned with a fantastic view . Thank you for that great experience.Especially Mr Kasun for his great support .
Great ambiance & great food, loved every bit of my stay
Everything great. Good food. Really friendly staff especially Chanaka who looked after our room. Room good. Really clean and not noisy. Service excellent. All in all a great hotel
Received a warm welcome on our return to Royal Palms Beach Hotel Kalutara from all the staff but too many to name. Looked after well in reception by Dilhani, Ameesha, Raveen and Uthpali as well as the three porters in the lobby. We were also well looked after by waiting staff and room boys who were very attentive. Rooms comfortable and food good with plenty of choice and different options each night. Unfortunately the beach has eroded but there is a large swimming pool on site.
The hotel ıs excellence. Staff very help. Foods good. Specially Ameesha and madhavee at receptıon always happy to help. Always look after us and ask how they can help me. Assesst to hotel. Aleays smıle to guest
The hotel is beautiful and the service is excellent.
The welcoming that we received at this resort when we arrived was excellent. We were given a drink on arrival and a flannel to wipe ourselvesdown. We were quickly taken to our room and shown around, we quickly settled in and went to the restaurant for lunch which was absolutely fantastic. This also was the same for the breakfast and evening meal the waiters the chefs and room attendants were absolutely fantastic. The pool area is very clean. Anne and safe the employees will go above and beyond to help you and make sure that your stayis perfect. The only thing that I really missed was a beach unfortunately has been washed away
Excellent place to stay with families. We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend it for those traveling with children.
I am writing to share some feedback regarding my recent experience. I felt that the time taken to check in could have been faster. I hope this feedback is helpful for improving the process in the future.
Fantastic service by front office lady Dilhani , she was very helpful and explained everything well. Service by other staff was also great. Buffet food was not that great compared to a five star hotel . We stayed for 2 nights .
"We stayed at Royal Palm Beach just before the New Year and had a top-notch experience. From the security team to the reception, room service, and restaurant staff, the service was consistently high-standard. The buffet spread was truly impressive. We want to give a special thanks to Dishani at the reception; her extra help and the thoughtful birthday cake she arranged made my stay unforgettable. Keep up the excellent work!"
From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed. The staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to help with a smile. The food was delicious and freshly prepared, and the cleanliness throughout the hotel was impressive. We truly enjoyed a relaxing and comfortable stay. Special thank goes to Mr. Kasun (Assistant Manager) for the warm hospitality.
The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly especially a staff member called Uthpala
Amazing pool , food , hotel and staff
Nothing
I visited this hotel yesterday and had a wonderful experience. The service was excellent, and the staff were especially friendly and welcoming. A special thank you to Ameesha for providing outstanding service and making our visit even more enjoyable. I would also like to appreciate the rest of the team for their great hospitality. Highly recommended
Very nice hotel with friendly and excellent service, a beautiful garden but unfortunately no beach anymore. There are only rocks now so that swimming singt possible. The pool is large but shallow and fairly warm. Little problems like a room switch or a broken A/C were quickly solved. I only had half board and found breakfast and dinner to be very tasteful and they went all out to offer quite a large selection of dishes. For Easter, they did a fun egg hunt in the lobby. Madhavee and Shenali were very charming and well prepared to organize the event. We had such a nice time! Thank you Royal Palms.
I highly recommend this Hotel. Lovely surroundings and friendly staff. Room and everything is neat and clean. Food is very delicious. There is so many activities to do. Pool is long as well. Come and enjoy your next destination.
We recently had our team day out at Royal Palms Beach Hotel, and it turned out to be a truly memorable experience for all of us. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming, making it the perfect setting for colleagues to unwind, connect, and enjoy some quality time together outside of work. A special highlight of the day was the series of activities organized by the Animator, Mr. Lahiru. Everything was conducted smoothly and with great energy, keeping everyone engaged and entertained throughout. His friendly and accommodating nature made it easy for everyone to participate and enjoy themselves, regardless of their comfort levels. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. Chandra, who did an excellent job coordinating the entire day out. His attention to detail and continuous support ensured that everything ran seamlessly, allowing us to fully enjoy the experience without any concerns. Our heartfelt thanks also go to the General Manager, Mr. Ravi, for overseeing the entire process and for being so accommodating in making this team event a success. His support and commitment to guest satisfaction were clearly evident throughout the process. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we are grateful to the entire team at Royal Palms Beach Hotel for making our day out enjoyable and stress-free. We look forward to visiting again!
We had an amazing experience with Tharindu! From the moment we met him, he was incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. He made us feel comfortable right away and went out of his way to ensure we had a great time. What really stood out was his effort to show us some beautiful views and spots that we would have otherwise missed. His knowledge, friendliness, and positive attitude made the entire experience even more enjoyable. Tharindu is not just a great guide but also a wonderful person who truly cares about his guests. We felt very well taken care of and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable experience. Thank you, Tharindu, for making our time so special—we really appreciate it! 🙌
The food was excellent. Staff was friendly.
Great hotel - very clean and lovely staff. Food amazing great choice , good quality. We had a room near the railway line but was not an issue to us but some people will find it noisy. The room was spacious , clean and had a view over the pool , gardens and sea which was pretty. The hotel is not on the beach but there is a side gate to the right of the property which leads on to the beach. It is a public beach and has sellers and can be quiet , however the sea is very rough and I would not swim in it as advised by the hotel life guard. The hotel has an amazing pool which is fab so we didn’t miss the sea. We didn’t use the restaurants as they were payable and the food in the buffet was amazing. Plenty of choice throughout our two week stay. We used the laundry service which was excellent and cheap compared to the Uk , back same day. We drunk cocktails which were included in our All Inclusive package but as wine drinkers you can only have one small glass with lunch and one with dinner as part of all inclusive so bear this mind. Wine is available to buy but expensive. We would definitely return as the hotel, food and all the staff are amazing.
A beautiful hotel on Sri Lanka's west coast. Exceptional staff throughout the hotel, large clean bedrooms with sea or garden views, a great buffet and good entertainment in some bar areas. The hotel is very well managed compared to so many others we stayed in during our travels. The staff had an incredible knack of remembering our room number when we ordered anything! There is access to the beach over a rocky path to the right of the hotel, but we only went once as we got hassled by people wanting to sell tours. However you'll find that on many Sri Lankan beaches. It's not a particularly attractive beach, with run down shacks that have gone out of business. The hotel has no beach in front. The sea rolls up to the rocks. The lovely hotel pool is huge with a quiet end with no music. There is music and activities at the opposite end where the pool bar is. The gardens are attractive and well maintained with lots of palm trees for shade. We upgraded from Half Board to All inclusive. We ate all meals at the hotel and the buffet choice was excellent. Drinks weren't great tbh. Cocktails didn't look attractive and were mixed with cheap juice. We tried and then avoided. If you buy a cocktail, you get the real thing. We are wine drinkers though and sadly only one glass is included with each meal. That was a huge disappointment. Beer is plentiful, nice if you drink beer I guess. However it is possible to purchase wine in the hotel & there's a mini bar in the room. Overall we think All Inclusive was a good deal, despite the drinks. There are a few shops outside the hotel, and a small shopping street with supermarkets and clothes shops further along. There are a couple of restaurants outside the hotel but we didn't try them. Tuks Tuks are available outside the hotel. There is a small shopping arcade in the hotel itself, two jewellry shops, & a shop for essentials. We bought some jewellry in Cara. Azam was delightful, not at all pushy and a pleasure to deal with. We bought some lovely pieces that were not overpriced. We were pleased we avoided the pushy shops in Galle. There is a hotel spa which we didn't use, but I hear gave great massages. There is a cheaper massage place across the road. I had a lovely massage there, my husband did not enjoy. It is quite basic. We used the hotel gym alot. It was small but adequate, had cool water and was well air conditioned and never too busy. We had a wonderful stay at The Royal Palms Beach, we give it 5 stars and would certainly return.
The vacation is simply amazing! I especially loved the attitude and hospitality of the Sri Lankans. The lovely Madhavee and Shenali turned one of our evenings into a magical chapter from “One Thousand and One Nights.” My husband and I were dressed in traditional outfits. I absolutely loved the sari — it made me feel like a real princess. Thank you, Royal Palm Beach, Madhavee, and Shenali! ✨
We have two days left of our stay (17 Feb to 3 Mar 2026). A welcome break from the UK winter! We are two mature women, regular visitors to Sri Lanka but our first visit to this hotel. The gardens and grounds are tranquil and beautifully maintained, the entire staff team are wonderful, warm and helpful; Gardeners, pool men, waiting staff, reception, housekeeping and bar staff, all will do everything possible to make your stay comfortable and memorable. Home from home! Our room (327) is immaculate and quiet with a magnificent sea view. Beds are excellent and linens immaculate and very comfortable. The lack of beach is no problem at all due to the huge, beautifully maintained, lagoon-style pool. The grounds offer patio, extensive grass gardens and sandy areas overlooking the ocean to relax and sunbeds are plentiful. The variety and quality of food, at every meal, has been exemplary and offers excellent all-inclusive value. We have one with mobility issues and a walking stick user. Staff could not be more helpful and the hotel is highly accessible to anyone who can walk a few stairs. Lifts are available to higher floors and, with the exception of wheelchair users, all areas are accessible to most. The hotel has many return guests and a large number of mature people who enjoy the hospitality and tranquility. We will be back again! Royal Palm Beach offers a lovely Sri Lankan experience and all credit must go to the hard working and highly professional staff team. We thank them all sincerely for a wonderful stay.
The hotel is very goo. Good staff. We met very kind , helpfull ladies that name Madhavee and Sheni who help us to get a saree show experience. Never forget that exeperince. They are very friendly. Aleays help for us.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff was friendly, the rooms were comfortable, and the atmosphere was pleasant.
The breakfast was good, but it lacked variety, as the selection of dishes was quite limited. The swimming pool is nice and clean; however, it is only about one meter deep, which makes it uncomfortable for proper swimming. The hotel does not have its own private beach. There is a beach located to the right of the hotel, about a 500-meter walk away, but it feels somewhat abandoned, and there are strong waves, which makes swimming difficult and not very enjoyable.
The hotel is lovely, it is a little dated as some comments say however that kind of adds to the charm. All of the staff are wonderful, warm and welcoming. Nemal and all the pool guys are great, so friendly and attentive. Lahiru does a great yoga class and we made good use of the gym. The food is great, we are staying all inclusive and have enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately we cannot say the same for the drink as wine is not part if the deal. You get a small glass at lunch and dinner. Making comments doesn't change this, I have expressed my thoughts on this each time we have visited, I didn't this time as I know nothing will change, we chose to go up the road to the Green Bamboo who serve decent white wine very reasonably priced. The hotel will quote sustainability if you look at previous wine comments. This is what stops the hotel getting a 5 star review from us, it is literally the only hotel I have been to in the world (I have travelled extensively) that has such limitations in its all inclusive. This won't stop me coming back, everything else is great.
Beautiful hotel, clean & comfortable with polite & welcoming staff. We were in Room 325 on the second floor & the view from the Balcony, of the Ocean, through the palm trees, was fabulous. The room was very clean & spacious and always kept tidy by the daily room service, which included various ‘flowers’ & ‘towel animals’ which was much appreciated. The Hotel also had nightly entertainment in the lounge/bar, including the amazing Fire Limbo by Boniface & the ‘Earth’ band. The Hotel is set in beautiful grounds, full of palm trees. There were also many recliners & deck chairs around the Hotel, so there was never a problem finding somewhere to relax. As mentioned earlier, all staff were super friendly & helpful who treated their guests as ‘Royalty’ Special thanks also goes to Dharani, who was so polite & helpful, without doubt a credit to the Hotel. For anyone considering a visit to this part of Sri Lanka, the Royal Palms Hotel would, without question, be an excellent choice.

großes Zimmer, Holzboden
Speisesaal steril; Felsstrand;
-The pool is huge and inviting. -Next to a good shopping street.
-Loud club music by the pool. -Ordered water to the room but it never arrived. -Did not get the ocean view we requested. -No access to the beach
Good staff and great food….
Pool was bit shallow …
Großer Swimmingpool
Der Strand war versperrt und nicht zugänglich. Das Hotel war auch sehr in die Jahre gekommen und das Zimmer hat sehr nach Feuchtigkeit gerochen.
The Hotel was lovely, Was a bit dissapointed, as they could not find our booing, the time we arrived. We paid for seaview rooms, but was not given one. Since we were tired, did not make a big fuss. Pool table is not free.
Mosquitos, and the wifi
Everything you want is here 😊
There is no sandy Beach as this is Aera to dangerous too swim
The welcome, room, cleanliness, quality of food
De rust, comfort en eten. Mooi zwembad.
Location was great and staff was helpful! It was great to sit on the beach and watch the waves both during the day and at night. Their dinner menu was broad and the food was good as well.
The first night we got there, the hotel hosted a beach party that was so loud that we did not sleep until the party stopped at 2 or 3am. I would have preferred this was mentioned somewhere online, as we likely would have stayed elsewhere. Additionally, there is not really a door between the bathroom and bedroom, leaving little privacy while using the bathroom.
I first went to the Royal Palms in August 2024 and have just returned from my third visit!! There is something special about this hotel. From the moment you arrive there is a sense of tranquillity that carries on throughout your stay. The staff are so friendly and attentive; especially the pool, restaurant and reception staff. The rooms are clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. BUT what makes this hotel for me is the excellent quality and range of the Sri Lankan dishes available in the restaurant. There is always a good selection and even now most days there are dishes that I have not seen before. I particular recommend the egg hopper, brinjal moji, and the calamari curry; although this has one of the biggest kicks I have known in a curry, but not unpleasantly so! In terms of desserts the coconut pudding is actually one of the best things I have ever tasted. I am already planning my next trip as this hotel, for me, is the place to go for relaxation and to destress from life!!!
Had a fantastic time got a warm welcome when we arrived hotel is beautiful & clean rooms are spacious lovely pool plenty of sunbeds umbrella food is very good plenty of choice Hansa and rest of the hotel team are very good help smiling all the time just like to say thank you for beautiful holiday
When it came to planning our annual staff outing this year we did not look anywhere else but Royal Palms Kaluthara .From the moment we arrived, we knew this was going to be a special experience. The warm welcome at check-in set the tone for the entire stay. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to make our visit unforgettable. Our rooms was spotless, beautifully decorated, and offered breathtaking views that we’ll never forget. The attention to detail was impeccable . The on-site restaurant was another highlight. Each meal was a delight. Evenings by the beach enjoying our team bonding night was a special highlight for us. A special mention to Front Office Dilrukshi who is a fantastic Guest relations office and F&B operations Chandra for making all the arrangements for us and the exceptional Animators Lahiru and Geeth for helping with all the fun activities We left with wonderful memories and a deep appreciation for the exceptional hospitality. This is, without a doubt, one of the most memorable stays we’ve ever had. Highly recommended—we can’t wait to return!
I had a wonderful experience at Royal Palms Beach Hotel. Beautiful beachfront Location, Friendly Staff, clean rooms and delicious food. A perfect place to relax or celebrate a special occasion. Loved every Moment.
My wife and I spent 3 weeks staying at our favourite hotel in Sri Lanka. It was lovely to catch up with all the staff who make us feel very welcome. From the concierges Anton and Prasad to the pool attendants Nimal, Sarath and Pryanth, animators Geeth and Lahiru, bar tender Dinesh, waiter Chamodua , receptionists Hansa and Dharan , our special housekeeper Chanaka all of whom outwork the Royal Palms Beach culture of providing guests with a memorable and pleasurable stay. On this occasion we ate one meal at the specialty Japanese restaurant and we would like to thank chef Indikee for cooking up lovely dishes for us. We felt privileged to be invited, along with the staff, to the hotel's 29th anniversary celebration. Once again this reflects the hotel's culture of valuing their guests. We look forward to visiting the Royal Palms Beach family again in the near future.
I’m currently staying at this lovely hotel in Sri Lanka and couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff have been incredibly attentive, polite, and always smiling — they truly go above and beyond to make sure guests are comfortable and well looked after. The hotel itself is fabulous — yes, it’s a little dated in places, but that’s part of its charm, and honestly, you can’t expect any more from Sri Lanka’s relaxed, authentic vibe. Everything is well maintained and spotlessly clean. The pool is warm and perfect for a relaxing swim, especially when the sun peeks out between the occasional showers. It’s the wet season right now, but the weather seems to be improving day by day. I’ve never had a single issue here — everyone is so friendly and welcoming that it really feels like a home away from home. Thank you to all the amazing staff for making our stay so enjoyable! Would highly recommend 👍🏻
