We stayed at the hotel on 22 August 2026 as a family, with our 9-month-old baby and 5-year-old child. First of all, the welcome and overall hospitality were very good. Our room was good and the dinner was delicious, with excellent service. The staff service during dinner was truly superb. 👍 However, there were some areas that could be improved. We were allocated Room No. 173, which was one of the rooms furthest from the restaurant. Since we were travelling with a small baby, it was quite difficult to walk that distance several times. It would be much better if families with babies or young children could be given rooms closer to the restaurant. The biggest issue was breakfast service. Our table was not properly arranged, and while we were carrying the baby, the staff did not seem to notice or offer assistance. We had to request a baby chair ourselves. There were also not enough staff covering our area, so we had to repeatedly ask for basic things such as water and the hand-wash bowl. When guests pay for a hotel stay, they expect comfort and attentive service without having to repeatedly ask for every small thing. The room itself was good, but unfortunately it felt older than we expected, especially the bathroom. Considering the amount we paid, I personally did not feel fully satisfied with the overall experience. I am sharing this feedback respectfully, not to criticize, but because the hotel has good potential. ❤️ I hope the management will look into these shortcomings and improve the service, especially during breakfast. Overall: Good food, great dinner service and a warm welcome, but breakfast service and room allocation for families with small children need improvement. Thank you, and I hope to have an even better experience next time. 🙏

Very disappointing experience – our special occasion was ruined We stayed at Citrus Waskaduwa with our family, checking in on 22 August 2026 (Room 306) to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We came here expecting a relaxing and memorable family stay. After checking in, we placed all our personal belongings in the room and went to the swimming pool. When we returned, we found a fruit platter inside our room. The biggest concern was that nobody informed us that hotel staff had entered our room. We had not requested the fruit platter, and we had no idea why someone had entered the room and placed it there while we were away. As guests, how are we supposed to know why someone has entered our room? We could reasonably wonder whether the platter was ordered for another guest and accidentally placed in our room, or whether there was some other reason. This is exactly why we believe guests should be informed whenever someone needs to enter their room. I immediately reported the matter to reception. Initially, the staff apologized. However, when I asked to speak with a responsible person, the response was extremely disappointing. A female staff member argued that the hotel had not made any mistake and said that if we did not put a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, staff could enter after knocking three times. I asked to see the hotel's written policy or terms and conditions that I had agreed to during check-in, but I was told there was no such document and that guests are simply expected to know this as a common practice in hotels. For me, this is not about a fruit platter. It is about privacy, security and trust. We had left our personal belongings in the room believing that our room was secure while we were using the hotel facilities. What made the situation even more upsetting was the timing. We had come specifically to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and we were just about to cut our anniversary cake when this incident happened.

Disappointing Experience at Citrus Waskaduwa Unfortunately, my recent experience at Citrus Waskaduwa was not up to the standard I expected from a five-star hotel. The food quality was disappointing, and some of the chicken served was not of acceptable quality. The meals overall did not meet the standard expected from a hotel of this category. Another major disappointment was the lack of proper photographs and clear location information for some of the facilities and areas of the hotel. This made it difficult to have a clear idea of what to expect before and during the stay. Considering the reputation and five-star positioning of Citrus Waskaduwa, I expected much better food quality, presentation, and overall experience. I hope the management will take these concerns seriously and improve the standards, particularly in the food and restaurant areas. Overall, not a satisfactory experience and not what I expected from Citrus Waskaduwa.

It was a great experience and a best location. Room was very clean , calm and comfortable. Enjoyed and spent fantastic two days. Staff also was very friendly. Recommend to have a best vacation.

From the start of our time here it was very enjoyable stay. At the reception the welcome chat and explanation of what awaited us was very detailed. Also the room was ready for us even before checking in time. Although we expected a buffet lunch the ordered lunch was very nice. Evening we enjoyed the beach and the pool and thereafter free cocktails and dinner buffet. For us the quality time we planned became an unforgettable experience thanks to Citrus and their very attentive staff. Thank you.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at Citrus Waskaduwa. The front office team and the rest of the hotel staff were courteous, welcoming, and always willing to help, which made our experience enjoyable. The hotel offered a comfortable stay with good service from the rest of the team.

One area that needs improvement is the service provided by the pool guards. We felt they were selective in how they treated guests and appeared to be more attentive and accommodating towards foreign tourists than local guests. We hope the management will address this and ensure all guests receive the same level of service and hospitality, regardless of their nationality.

There was no flexibility with the all-inclusive package. Although we had booked the all-inclusive option, the management team refused to provide my wife with a mocktail, which was very disappointing and negatively affected our overall experience.

We had such a lovely time at Citrus Waskaduwa. The hotel staff was very warm, attentive and made sure our stay was very comfortable. We were very impressed with Sri Lankan hospitality and food. The entire staff ensured our stay was a memorable one. The pool was super fun and having access to the beach was so cool so that we could watch the sunset. I highly recommend this resort to families visiting this area.

The main criterion for choosing a hotel was comfort and quality of service. Therefore, after reading the reviews, we decided that Citrus 5* Waskaduwa was suitable for us. However, what we received here exceeded our expectations. We were the first guests to arrive after the renovation, and we were treated with special kindness. We were greeted with lotus flowers, a delicious mojito, and were immediately settled in our room. We spent 15 days at the hotel, and we would like to highlight the high level of service. The cleaning was done well every day, and the hygiene products and tea, coffee, and water were constantly replenished. The food was delicious, with plenty of seafood, fruits, and desserts. The service was excellent, and the chef was a great talent, for which I would like to express my gratitude. There was a bar by the pool and a bar near the restaurant. The cocktails were delicious, and the service was top-notch. I would also like to mention the animator Mr. Ruwan, who provided yoga and water aerobics. Water aerobics are a lot of fun, and he's a pro at yoga. He has a good stretch, and at the end, he lifted us on his back. It was like a manual. The hotel grounds are large, the lawn is good, and there is a lot of fauna, we saw a monitor lizard, a chameleon, chipmunks, and several types of birds. We were there during the rainy season, but we were lucky with the weather, it rained only once. Although the ocean was stormy, it was a pleasure to ride the waves. I would also like to mention Chalani and Madushanki the Guest Relations managers, who were always interested in our well-being and whether we needed anything. Aravinda from the pool and the Barman Ishara, and the supervisor Kapila they were amazing. The Restaurant waiter Kumara, hostess Sherin. They did a great job. Everyone did amazing job. The staff resolved the issue of hot water immediately. Very pleasant. In general, all the staff is friendly and ready to help when needed. We recommend visiting Citrus 5* in Waskaduwa. The hotel fully meets its star rating, and its staff will make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. We, for our part, are very glad that we chose this hotel for our first visit to Sri Lanka, and we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff for a great time.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Hiranya, the Banquets Manager, for her exceptional support, professionalism, and dedication throughout the planning process and on the wedding day itself. From the initial discussions to the successful execution of the event, Hiranya was always available, responsive, and committed to ensuring everything ran smoothly. Her attention to detail and willingness to assist made a significant difference and helped create a truly memorable day for the couple. I would also like to extend my appreciation to Chef and his team for delivering an excellent dining experience and contributing greatly to the success of the celebration. The food and service were highly appreciated by our guests. In addition to the wedding function, we booked more than 10 rooms for ourselves and our guests. Several guests stayed at the hotel both before and after the wedding, allowing them to enjoy the property and celebrations comfortably. While the overall stay was pleasant, there are a few areas that could be improved. Communication from the front office could be more efficient, as there were instances where information was not communicated clearly. Additionally, some guests who arrived late at night wished to order room service and found that only a limited food selection was available, with no beverage options other than water. As a star-class hotel, it would be beneficial to offer basic beverage options such as soft drinks for guests requiring room service during late hours. Despite these minor concerns, our overall experience was excellent. Once again, my sincere thanks to Hiranya, Chef, and the entire banquet team for their hard work and commitment in making Dinesh and Nina's wedding day such a wonderful and unforgettable occasion.

Our friend’s wedding at Citrus Waskaduwa was beautifully organized, and the entire team delivered exceptional service with great enthusiasm and professionalism. The traditional ceremony was originally planned on the beach, but due to sudden rain and bad weather, the team quickly rearranged everything at the terrace without any inconvenience to the guests. The terrace setup turned out to be elegant and memorable. Later, the cocktail reception was held at the lower lobby, followed by the main reception at the banquet hall. A special thank you goes to F&B Manager Hiranya, who was incredibly accommodating and ensured everything was organized perfectly and on time. Her support and attention to detail truly made a difference throughout the event. We would also like to appreciate Banquet Chef Rashitha, who carefully curated the menu to suit our multicultural and multiracial guest list. The food was absolutely delicious, and every guest thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. Many of our guests also stayed at the hotel rooms, and the feedback about the hospitality and comfort was excellent. Overall, our experience at Citrus Waskaduwa was marvelous from start to finish. Location is good. Sea view room is nice. Staffs are friendly.

Since the hotel has less occupancy they decided to give us set menu instead of buffet. Paid for All-Inclusive package but only lunch was buffet, dinner and next day breakfast was set menu which is not worth for the money I paid. Even the quantity is very small portion in set menu. Very disappointing stay at Citrus Waskaduwa.

I had a relaxing birthday stay at Citrus Waskaduwa, and overall it was a very pleasant experience. The staff were friendly and polite, and the welcome process was smooth and efficient. We were guided to our room, and the birthday decoration arranged in the room was a thoughtful touch. Later in the evening, a complimentary birthday cake was delivered, which made the celebration feel even more special. The food was excellent throughout our stay. My personal favorites were the room service mashed potatoes, buffalo wings with BBQ sauce, and the egg fried rice. The menu clearly displayed net prices, which I found reasonable and good value for money. The view was also spectacular and added to the overall enjoyment of the stay. I was not feeling well during part of the visit, and when I inquired about an extra payment for late checkout, the staff were understanding and kindly allowed us to stay a little longer. I appreciated their empathy and flexibility. There are, however, a few areas that could be improved. The amenities were not placed in the room upon arrival, although they were promptly provided after I requested them. The pool area also needs renovation, as I noticed broken tiles. At one point, a child in room 310 was injured and began bleeding, and I would like to acknowledge the lifeguards for responding quickly and providing first aid. In addition, the corridor tends to flood during rain, which may pose a safety risk for children, elderly guests, and pregnant women. Adding bamboo mats or a similar solution could help improve safety. Overall, I would recommend Citrus Waskaduwa and rate it [9.5/10]. With a few small improvements, this property has the potential to become even better.

Wonderful Stay At Citrus Waskaduwa. We have been here many times. Citrus feels like home where we can spend our quality time nicely with My Wife and My 4 Kids . Buffet is really good. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Washrooms are large and well equipped. Stayed on HB basis- for 2 nights! Have to say - my compliments to the chef and the citrus kitchen team! Every dish we had was very tasty Staff overalll - very pleasant, accommodating and polite
