Great pub, great staff, great breakfast.
All was great.
Het gemoedelijke van het verblijf.
De trap, op leeftijd is dit soms moeilijk.
It was very average
Rooms looked tired, I would say a refurbish wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Great location and nice pub / diner
Village location and local feel
The cooking was superb - I could not have hoped for better. The bed was comfortable. The location was perfect.
The fire alarm in the room - it was being tested on Sunday morning. It was too loud, hurting my partner's ears, bordering on unsafe hearing threshold. The church bells opposite the Sun were beautiful on Sunday morning during breakfast. What a shame there had to be background music competing!
Great location. The food in the restaurant was really good.
Everything was as expected. Continental breakfast included was adequate.
It felt like the hub of the village
Lovely old village pub. Very friendly, helpful staff, particularly at breakfast time. The breakfast itself was excellent. Decent parking
The room was a little warm, but we couldn't keep the window open as we overlooked the pub terrace. We couldn't get the shower to give any hot water.
Location and breakfast
Room was at the back of the building with a massive kitchen extractor fan right outside our window. It was very noisy and was off when we went to bed. However it started up again at 7.41am the following morning. As it was hot, our window was open, so a relaxing Sunday morning was not had! We'd stayed here before and had fond memories of staying (in a room at the front, overlooking the church) the pub and surrounding area, however our return visit may have been our last sadly.
Country feel Welcoming
Happy with it

Friendly staff, room small but nice and comfortable for 1 night, breakfast was basic but decent, plenty of parking available, pub served very good food, all in all, a great experience.
The only thing was due to the temp outside, our room was very warm but there was a fan provided in the room which definitely helped. I'm not sure if the fact our room window was adjacent to the extractor fans from the kitchen had an impact either.
Lovely place and very helpful staff, would come again.
No negatives from my side.
Very clean in a quite area lovely locals
Was nice and big service was excellent in the bar downstairs and competitive prices for the area
Lovely little village , friendly staff , great food and room was as expected.
Lovely staff! So welcoming and helpful. Accommodating with the dogs aswell. Would 1000% stay again. Such brilliant value for money. We visited a few things in the area and was all short driving distance.
Nothing, it was perfect for us.
Lovely atmosphere and the staff were so helpful and friendly, will definitely stay again.
Couldn't say a bad word about the place. Lovely.
Breakfast and service were excellent! Room was very cosy and bed was incredibly comfy. Thanks for a lovely stay.
Everything was excellent. Great Room, and a very tasty breakfast.
Bit noisy from the staircase outside our door, but not an issue.
room, lunch and breakfast excellent Good service Nice Stay Overall
Nice and close to where I was working
Nothing
Comfortable relaxed BnB in an old inn. Friendly staff and landlady. We loved the fact they had already provided a desk top fan to cool our bedroom during an exceptional heatwave which meant we could both sleep at night.
Auberge fort sympathique dans un charmant village
Was a very pleasant pub with rooms above
We stayed on a Sunday evening and was a little disappointed that the pub shut at 9pm and food was stopped I believe at 8pm. As you are in a small village there were no other local options, so we were left somewhat out on a limb on a beautiful summers evening...
Great stay at The Sun Inn, easy checking in and room clean and tidy and well presented. Couple of beers in bar and continental breakfast ready this morning for checkout - highly recommend staying if in the area.
The location was excellant, beautiful village and very friendly people
The welcome by staff was quite underwhelming
Absolutely zero options for food at 9pm. Even a sandwich would have been welcome.
The Sun is in the centre of Hook Norton and has a pleasant outlook opposite the church . Inside , it is informal with plenty of tables for eating and drinking . They serve meals seven days a week and are open all day which is convenient for locals and visitors .
Nothing worth mentioning .
The room was small but cozy and comfortable. We thought the church bells opposite woukd keep us awake but they seemed to be switched off at night. Evening meal was excellent, with sufficient gluten free choices, plus Hook Nortons own gluten free beer for a treat! Lovely location in a very pretty village. Good private offstreet parking for our vintage car behind the pub.
A fan was provided but no light weight summer bedding, so the room was very warm, with only a tiny window opening. Stairs to the room quite steep so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues, but we managed. Meal and drink.prices a bit higher than over here in the west, but quality very good.
Breakfast included, great location, lovely staff
Unfortunately the wifi didn’t reach our room
A little gem! Staff friendly and food was good as was the selection of beers and wines. Will be going back!
Incredible location. Super friendly staff. Squeaky clean.
Honestly, cannot fault. A perfect little country pub
The food was very good
No decent WiFi or instruction how to use it.
Wonderful team, smashing village pub /hotel.
The position is ideal, right in the middle of the village, there is carpark at the back and the village is very beautiful and conveniently located for trips at the Cotswolds.
Very poor accommodatio experience, the whole place has a really bad smell, to the point that we have to leave our room with tissues on our noses. The carpet on the communcal areas is just black, never been cleaned. Same in our room, everything felt dirty. The floors, the bathroom, I didn't want to touch anything, walk barefeet or sit on any chair/ armchair. The breaksfast basket left outside our room the night before was also offensive to say the least. Boxes of cereal, jars of jam and 1 stale croissant and pain au chocolate. What would I do with the jam without butter or bread...?
The staff, especially Kelly, were very friendly & welcoming. The food was fabulous and good value for money.
We stayed on a Thursday evening, which we found out is practice night for the bell ringers at the church opposite The Sun Inn! This went on from 1930-2100! Also, no wardrobe, just a few clothes hangers hanging on a pipe on the wall.
Breakfast minimal but OK I enjoyed the cereal as it is my usual fare. Not much else if you are into this. Liked the cafe latte. I would stay again if I was in the area. Dinner was first class pub meal. Enjoyed it.
Didn't like I had to wait till 8:30 for it. Kitchen closed at 8pm.
Friendly staff. Peaceful location.
Very hot during summer weather.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Evening meal was very good , beer was excellent. Room fine
Room one the two single beds were not very comfortable.
Off the ‘main drag’ of the Cotswolds.
Being able to check in at 3pm & not 4p
Comfortable room in a friendly place in a beautiful village. Nice continental breakfasts. Lovely walks in and around the village Large terraced beer garden. Delicious food served in the pub. Ideal for short stays. We would stay here again.
Shower head needs cleaning/replacing. Only a few hooks to hang clothes on. Enough for a short stay only.
Loved our stay. The location was perfect, staff friendly and food very good.
Staff very attentive, food delicious

Good location, friendly staff, food okay.
Rooms a little small, lacking storage, and no fridge in room. Water pressure for taps and shower low, bed sheets ripped in places. Need a little tlc and attention to detail.
l'ambiance du pub/restaurant
le petit dejeuner etait incroyablement maigre - 'coffee and cornflakes'

The staff made us very welcome. The food was delicious.
Great location and very friendly and accommodating staff. Very clean and comfortable.
Would have liked the option of a cooked breakfast during the weekdays.

Location and pub. Very pleasant.
Breakfast was a bit underwhelming.
Great price and location, nice food and clean.
Nothing.
The character of the old building In the surrounding area
Some of the windows could do with upgrading But still a lovely building
Stunning country pub
Beautiful old country pub in a lovely village opposite the church, great food & good selection of local beers, did the brewery tour,a nice 10 minute walk away
Pillows a bit hard, but everything else fabulous
Olde worlde
Nothing. All in character.
Great location, very clean and great food served at the pub
Nothing
On our arrival we had a drink in the pub prior to then staying in and having dinner in the restaurant. The food was lovely. There were plenty of options for breakfast the following morning. My partner and I both enjoyed the experience.
Beautiful location in the heart of the village
It was a nightmare. Before our arrival, we tried calling the accomodation the entire day but no one picked up the phone. When we arrived in the evening the entire place was dark and empty with a phone number on the door to call,- only that the number given was wrong or incomplete and no call could be placed. We had to go to Bunbury then on Christmas and find an alternatve Hotel that very evening.
Everything superb
Very good
Staff were wonderful and extremely accomodating to our early start. They were also kind about us ordering food later than usual (as we arrived late) and keeping the bar open for us so we could unwind after a long day. Highly recommend and definitley will be staying again. Facilities in excellent condition. Beautiful location.
Great old pub in a great location Great Sunday roast
Chambre située à l’étage d’un pub sympathique. Personnel accueillant. Possibilité de se garer soit au parking du pub soit dans la rue.
Les chambres sont vraiment petites. Les lits pas tres confortables. Et l’isolation sonore quasi inexistante, heureusement la rue n’est pas très passante.
Location and breakfast
Very small bed for two people
