The Elleray

Ginge was great and welcoming. He served me an amazing cooked breakfast the morning that I checked out. By the end of my roadtrip, I still think his brekky was by far the best I had! :)

The Elleray filtered as a hotel option with "Parking Available" at the time I made my booking in May. They have updated since then, but it still came as a surprise when I checked in.

Lovely clean room that suited us perfectly. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Not far from other restaurants and shops in Windermere if needed.

Unfortunately there was no food available on a Thursday which was perplexing. We also had to drag our bags from a car park 10 minutes walk away, not a huge issue for us but others need to be aware.

Breakfast minimum- would have expected better for the price.

The location is perfect for the train station and for being close to shops, pubs, bars and restaurants. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Food excellent. A very relaxing stay.

The property was in a great location, central to the town and to the bus/ rail stations. Our room was nice and big. Staff were friendly. Excellent breakfast and restaurant food was good too. Pub has a nice atmosphere and we enjoyed talking to some of the locals.

Couldn’t find anyone to ask about leaving our bags until check-in when we first arrived and no one answered when I phoned.

The location of The Elleray was excellent, just a short walk from the train station which was great for us since we arrived by train and did not have a vehicle. The room was comfortable, the shower was good but could use a shelf for putting my shampoo and face wash. It was located over a pub but was fairly quiet on a Tuesday night when we were there. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby amid you can easily take a bus to the lake.

The only disappointment was that the included breakfast was only served from 9:00-10:00 and we had scheduled a tour that began at 9:00 so we couldn’t eat there. We ended up at the Booths cafe at the train station where we were to meet so that was fine.

The staff here are wonderful. Each one that we encountered was very friendly and helpful. They seem to be friendly with all that are there. The are very accommodating. The breakfast was tasty and filling. I was surprised at how quiet the room was even though we faced the main street. We had a very peaceful stay.

The room was a little worn - not too much. The bathroom was spacious but the sink a bit small. These are only minor dislikes - nothing too much.

The staff were brilliant and the room was so lovely! A beautiful place to stay for a few days and so easy to find after trekking about all day!

The location is fantastic being close to the railway station, Bowness and about a 20 minute walk down to Windermere. The room was lovely, comfortable and clean. We both agreed that the breakfast was outstanding, although missing the black pudding. We since realised we probably should have asked for that. Kaz is really friendly and approachable.

I felt the hotel in other areas could do with a clean. I accept though that the through traffic must make it hard to keep on top off. I also felt from the two days there that perhaps they could do with more staff? We called in at 2.15 to drop off our cases, in all honestly we were hoping the room might have been ready given the 3pm check-in. But it wasn't ready. We had a lovely walk so it didn't matter.

The location was great straight off the train. The food was great. The secret beer garden was great. The host was great. Would definitely stay again

When we arrived the guy showed us to our room and talked us through the breakfast options and stay. The staff are very friendly. The bed was nice and comfortable. The location was ideal.

The staff member that showed us to our room said we could leave our bags with them at checkout. When we checked out there was no staff in the pub / hotel. The towels were dirty / filthy. The bedroom doors are very heavy so when people come back late at night they slam and woke us up several times a night. Dogs are welcome which is fine. But a dog was loose in the always all night barking and crying. I eventually went into the hallway after being woken up by barking / crying again at 4am to find the dog had poo’d all over the carpet and when I stepped out into the hallway to try and find its owner I stepped in its poo. The carpets are very dirty and in general the place was dirty.

Lovely staff. Breakfast was lovely with great options. Location was pretty good and accessible for food and other amenities if I wanted to go out since it was in town.

The rugs werent completely clean, and the sofa smelled a bit of smoke - not too bad but my sense of smell is quite sensitive to smoke. The bed wasn't that comfortable, but okay. The shower wasn't working at first but Cas helped me out pretty quickly.

Breakfast was great and all staff were really pleasant and helpful. If we asked for anything it was always provided. We also ate one evening and the food was good, shoutout to Ginge.

To be honest the hotel was a little tatty. It needs a lot of attention, maintenance and general decor. Large cracks in the ceiling of the room, broken blind in the bathroom and rugs which I assume were being used to cover the poor carpet ,but were trip hazards, especially in the night when you do not want to put a light on. Also a broken bannister on the stairs which may be dangerous in the future. Whilst it was not an expensive stay, I have never stayed anywhere before where the rooms are not serviced. Whilst this was not a major issue it would have been nice to have known in advance and as I said anything we asked for was not an issue for the staff. All in all though, this did not affect our short stay.

通常の朝食時間が平日でも朝9時からという遅い時間だった。 （しかし、それでは観光や列車移動の時間に間に合わないため、説明して特別に朝食を8時からに早めて貰った。） 平日はもっと早い時間（7時か7時半から）に朝食を取れれば客にとって高評価になると思う。

I don’t think the staff knew much about hospitality sector and how to treat their customers. We stayed for 3 nights and the garbage bins were never emptied and had to ask for extra towels which we got a day later.

I love the location. A o to anywhere ( including the train station). The room was very clean and surprisingly quiet even though we were in the center of things. Everything great and so affordable. Excellent hot breakfast. Huge value.

・駅から近い 　ウィンダミア駅から数分歩けばホテルが見えてくる。壁に店名が大きく書いてあるのでわかりやすくていい。 ・部屋が広い 　キングルームは床面積が広く、スーツケースを複数広げるのに十分だった。 ・スタッフの対応が素晴らしい 　特に奥様は明るく気さくで、こちらのお願いに応えてくれようとするホスピタリティには感動した。 ・荷物預かり 　奥様にお願いしたところ、チェックアウト後も荷物を預かってくれた。鍵付きの部屋に入れてくれたのはありがたい。小部屋だったので対応は先着順か…？ ・朝食が美味しい 　簡単な朝食ではあったが、ベーコンと卵は素材の味が引き出されていて大変美味であった。豪華さや量では満たされない満足感があった。

・シャワーの水圧が弱い 　少し残念なポイント。 ・1階バーの騒音 　B&Bなので仕方ないが気になる人はいるだろう。我々は気にならないレベルだったので、神経質になりすぎないほうがいい。

Absolutely fantastic service, excellent staff efforts, great and friendly communication 👏 Room no 1 have very comfortable bed. Lady who owns the B&B and her husband are fantastic hosts. All staff is super friendly, garden is from the dreams 😀 There was nothing to improve, great quiet location but near all pubs, bars and restaurants. However we mostly stayed in as food and beer 🍺 was there and prices were very reasonable.

The location is handy, the breakfast was good, the bathroom was clean. The member of staff was kind and lent me a cable to charge my mobile phone, he also helped my with muy suitcase to take it up stairs.

Overall carpet and bed seems taty, the tea cups were used so I had to bring them to reception and the member of staff apologised for this, and they brought clean cups to my bedroom. The top glasses of the bedside table were not clean, it had marks of glasses...I guess from the previous guest. The water of the bottle, next to the cups was not fresh nor the empty glasses next to it - so they didn't bothered providing clean glasses and fresh water either.

Central location ,the breakfast was excellent, and the host was very accommodating and polite , the bed was comfortable.

The location was the main reason we chose this property, we didn't realise it was a pub, but that didn't matter greatly. The room was well appointed, and the tea and coffee was appreciated. The staff were great, even though they were short staffed over the holiday weekend they still accepted our request for an earlier breakfast than advertised so we could complete our long walk in time for our transport home. The breakfast was really good as well.

Room was good but flooring on stairs and landing, leading to room not cleaned for a while. Key for late access to hotel didn’t work. We only seen one staff member who looked like she was doing everything. The stay was still good though, got to say and price competitive.

The Elleray is a lovely hotel right by the train station which was perfect for us! We had a family room that was decorated lovely, spacious and spotless! We had a delicious breakfast both mornings and Caz went above and beyond for our little girl, even cutting her toast in to heart shapes! Thank you for having us, we will be back!

I did not feel the rooms lived up to a deluxe room. The binds in the bathroom didnt fit. It was noisy and there was no chair. I felt it was poor value for money

The landlady did a fantastic job during our stay works so hard as do the other staff. Lovely dining area were we had breakfast twice , what can I say probably one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time piping hot and tasted delicious all locally sourced ( the bacon and sausage were fab ). The bar was very welcoming and was busy in the evening which is nice to see all the locals supporting local pubs. We will definitely be stay here again...

Stayed here previously. Good location and central to where we need to be. A shame that there was no power, due to works going on outside, so bar and restaurant closed. The decoration of the inside of the hotel is badly needed to be upgraded. There is mould on the window frames in our room.

Barman was really snotty when I asked if they sold coffee. Couldn't sleep because so loud until 1am. The bed was beyond uncomfortable, ridiculously bad, hotels need to learn to change their mattresses more often than they do.

It was situated well. There wasn’t any bar noise at night. The staff were remarkably happy and positive. The breakfast was amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Requests were instantly acted upon. The continual effort to ensure that the Christmas markets went ahead was a lovely thing to witness. We hope today goes well For you.

We weren't put in the room I had booked. Paid for a Deluxe King room and was accommodated in a standard Double. Which although nice, was not what I had paid for.

O hotel é antigo e muito, muito charmoso. Encantador, com suas dificuldades peculiares. Gostei bastante.

The breakfast was exceptional. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The bathroom was very modern and the bedroom was comfortable.

There was no parking at the hotel or lift to rooms. The parking was an issue because it was quite expensive and about 1/4 mile away from the hotel.

The room was dirty.plus toilet paper on the toilet brush and cob webs everywhere dust on the bed side lamps and dried food on bed spread and the mirror was dirty on web site there was parking, we had to park about 10 minutes walk away as we both have disabilities this was not acceptable and we left earlier than expected.

Excellent breakfast and really kind staff

Hostess was kind, attentive and most helpful. The Elleray is very convenient to the Windermere train station, to busses connecting other Lake District locations, and to the Mountain Goat tours departure. The pub seemed quite popular with an attractive menu.

The coil spring mattress was not comfortable, hope it is replaced soon. Google Maps shows The Elleray as a 4-star, handicap accessible hotel - it is neither, as the stairs up to the rooms are narrow and winding, and the accommodations, while nice and serviceable, were not high-end. The Elleray is dog-friendly, which was a bit of an issue for those with allergies.

Its Dirty… carpets are disgusting, mattress incredibly uncomfortable (u can feel the bed frame through it) room smelt fusty. We didn’t return for the second breakfast of our stay as the glasses had lipstick stains on them and we both had hair in our breakfast on the first morning. Really disappointing

Room 1 bed mattress has sunk, uncomfortable. Room very light all night, light curtains, lights on outside all round pub. Lovely large bathroom, poor shower pressure, no stool or chair in bathroom or hooks on wall near bath.

Staff were incredibly friendly, the bed was super comfortable, and the complementary breakfast was incredible! The location was very central so literally everything was in walking distance and we could enjoy a pint downstairs too.

The rooms are in desperate need of a full refurb, wallpaper peeling off, uncomfortable bed, pillows felt like they had rocks in. Toilet seat hanging off, loose taps, shower gel looked toxic, floor tiles loose on bathroom floor, holes in the towels…the list is endless
