Taxis are unable to get to this location. (we had a hurt pilgrim that needed a reprieve from walking)

I have stayed at Hotel Montenegro previously and had a really positive experience, which is why I chose to return. Unfortunately, on this occasion, the room was not up to the standard I had experienced before. When I arrived, the bathroom bin was already full of rubbish from the previous guest, and both of the glasses in the bathroom were visibly dirty and appeared to have been used. This was particularly disappointing, as it gave the impression that the bathroom had not been properly cleaned or checked before my arrival. The towels were also of quite poor quality, and the fan in the room did not work. I raised this directly with the hotel but have not had a reply. So unfortunately have had to provide a poor review.

Reviewed Aug 24, 2026Es un hotel con mucho encanto y super cerca de la catedral y la plaza del Obradoiro. Fue nuestra llegada tras el camino de Santiago. La habitación muy confortable y la decoración exquisita y con encanto. Las camas cómodas y destacaría la limpieza y la ubicación. Muy recomendable si vas a Santiago de Compostela.
No hay aire acondicionado. Y en el mes de Julio con el calor que hacía ese día se echó de menos. Hay un ventilador pero con la temperatura que hacía en Santiago ese día no era suficiente. Es entendible puesto que allí no es muy normal este calor, pero la verdad que el calor fue insoportable.

The rooms smelled like urine and body odor mixed with cleaning chemicals. The rooms were also hot and stuffy. Our room with the terrace did not feel secure as any of the neighboring apartments could have easy access to the terrace and thus our doors/windows if they were left open.

The staff were really helpful and welcoming, the front doors and room are accessible by a key pad so there's no chance of losing a key. Make sure you book a room with air con as not all do.

Reviewed Jul 6, 2026Ein wunderbarer Aufenthalt im Herzen von Santiago! Die Unterkunft fühlt sich eher wie eine kleine, liebevoll eingerichtete Wohnung an als wie ein Hotelzimmer. Die Lage ist hervorragend nur wenige Gehminuten von der Kathedrale entfernt und trotzdem angenehm ruhig. Lediglich die nächtlichen Katzen erinnerten daran, dass man mitten in einer lebendigen Altstadt wohnt. 🐈 Das Zimmer war sehr sauber, stilvoll und elegant eingerichtet. Das Bett war für unseren Geschmack etwas klein, dennoch haben wir uns rundum wohlgefühlt. Das Frühstück konnte unkompliziert dazugebucht werden und war ein schöner Start in den Tag. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir die ausgesprochen freundliche und herzliche Rezeptionistin, die uns mit ihrer Hilfsbereitschaft willkommen geheissen hat.
Eher warme Zimmertemperatur, da keine funktionierende Klimaanlage.

Staff wasn’t friendly, specially the gentleman during the evening, the room was tiny, no water or any amenity for that matter. When we booked the room, we asked several times for a room with twin beds, days before and at the check in and they didn’t make any effort to help us. We offered to pay an upgrade too. The bed was small and we didn’t rest as needed.

Reviewed Jun 27, 2026Sehr geschmackvoll gestaltetes Haus. Schöne Zimmer, alles blitzsauber und überaus freundliches Personal. Die Lage ist optimal im Herzen der Altstadt. Alles bequem zu Fuß zu erreichen. Absolute Empfehlung!

The only thing that could have given the hotel a score of 10 was there was no air conditioning and it was very hot whilst we were there but there was a fan which helped and shutters which kept the room cooler.

Reviewed Jun 12, 2026The location couldn't have been better. Centrally located for the tourist attractions, and the restaurants and bars. Everything we wanted was within a few minutes walk from the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The heavy front door, in a stable style for some unknown reason. I got my fingers trapped, which was very painful.

We had to wait over an hour past Checkin time to check in. Perhaps it was a staffing shortage that day.

The rooms are very small. The walls very thin you could hear the guests next door using the shower/toilet and talking. You could also hear other guests in the room above walking about. Shower didn't drain so bathroom floor was always wet. Very uncomfortable

Reviewed Jun 7, 2026Hotel scelto per la tappa finale del Cammino di Santiago, si trova a pochi minuti dalla Cattedrale. Piccolo, sembra nuovo con camere e bagno ben tenuti. Non abbiamo fatto colazione, ma al piano terra c’è la possibilità con 10 euro di farla. Ambienti comuni molto curati.
La nostra camera affacciava su un pub e purtroppo si sono sentiti schiamazzi fino all’alba. La reception è aperta solo in determinati orari
