Reviewed Sep 12, 2026Was given a free room upgrade, booked a tiny single-bed room, was given a massive room with a single and double bed with two chairs and a sink. I only booked this for a place to crash for a work trip and it was the cheapest option in the city center, but I would happily book again for a holiday. beautiful old tall windows, decorative fireplace, vaulted ceilings. Never stayed anywhere with a shared bathroom before but after this would happily do again, must have been cleaned at least daily. There was always someone at reception no matter how late or early, efficient and kind staff offering to help with bags, check in/out took under a minute. FREE PARKING so so pleased with a parking spot off road reserved for me for my whole stay.
Mattresses slightly uncomfortable but great duvets and pillows make up for it.

Has an overall sense of The Bates Motel. Owners just sat in silence at a desk. If you don’t book breakfast at time of booking room then you’ll have chance to change your mind. I was told they only buy food when someone previously requests it….suppose it reduces chance of waste

Leider keine eigene Dusche im Zimmer (weil schönes altes britisches Gebäude) Das ist aber auch so ziemlich das einzige, was man ehrlich kritisieren kann. Wer mehr kritisiert hat meiner Meinung nach zu hohe Erwartungen.

Was asked by the lady at the front desk why I was walking up and down the corridor when in actual fact was looking for the shower room since I had seen a toilet only outside my room.I was shocked.If I had another option could have checked out immediately.Am a seasoned hotelier.

The single room was compact but very clean, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. It’s definitely a "no-frills" setup, but for the price point, you get exactly what you need. The place itself could do with sprucing up (like the walls) and the lock on the room felt like it could've been more secure.

Reviewed Apr 26, 2026The room was lovely and big and had an ensuite shower. We're both disabled, so we're still able to have separate beds. The hotel is clearly being done up bit by bit and the landlady is very kind. We have stayed here three times. Good food in the chicken restaurant on the corner of the road.
I found the bed a bit lumpy but I had a Li g side so I slept on top of the duvet and wrapped it over me. There aren't many plugs or coffee making facilities in the room, but you can go down and get one from the kitchen at any time.

Don’t park here the ‘private’ parking is just the path infront of the hotel, there’s no cctv and my rear wiper was snapped off during the night. Manager didn’t care that it had happened either. Awful area.

A bit of damp and mould on the walls of the room, but that's about it.

Reviewed Feb 11, 2026Convenient location close to the train station. It was easy to find. Located away from the main road so there was no noise from the traffic. Very basic room and amenities but you got what you need for a short stay. Nothing exceptional but good enough as a budget option for me as I only needed a place to sleep for the night nearby the train station.
No lock on the door from the inside of your room. Early check out at 10am. I was aware of it when booking so it did not come as a surprise but find it too early.
