Absolutely nothing, the worst place I have ever been to.
The size of the room , the awful smell of urine. The filthy dirty conditioning of everything. Cracked basin, poor water supply at the sink. Broken step on entrance to the room. Dirty kettle. The whole experience was disgusting. Not made to feel welcome on arrival.
Location is handy but parking is limited. Large room, fairly safe and quiet.Staff we met were friendly
Parking. The shower needs work. It's mouldy and very small for such a big bathroom. Hot water in basin only luke warm. Pillows could be replaced. Bedside table hadn't been cleaned. I wiped marks off. Lots of cigarette stubs outside bedroom entrance, although ashtrays had been provided outside. No wi-fi available.
It was a convenient location
It was basic budget. We did not expect luxury but this was basic. There was noise from an air conditioner unit or similar all night so hard to sleep. Television did not work as signal was not strong enough and it kept going off. We were told breakfast was included but they stopped doing breakfast 2 years ago. Expensive for what we got and would not consider booking again
Great location, great value. Spotless.
It would have been nice to have soap
It was quiet
1: cracked window 2: mould above shower cubicle 3: tiles missing grout 4: shower cubicle not very useful for larger person 5: dirty tiles in bathroom 6: shower leaked to floor , sealant not very good 7: shaver socket cracked couldn't use 8: no teaspoons to go with the free tea and coffee 9: sweet wrapper under the single bed and it had a frayed base 10: room smelt of dampness 11: shower only had tepid heat and didn't run greatly 12: no curtains provided only white blinds for blocking out light not great
No breakfast available which would have been at other hotels at a similar price .
Plumbing not the best. Shower running hot and cold during use. Hot sink tap just a dribble. Steep narrow climb up 3 flights to room.
Location size of room
Carpet wasn't clean and was noticeably blood on inside of door and bathroom floor
Location excellent. Staff were helpful on arrival
Shower had no pressure and no heat, (although the unit looked new). No soap or shampoo or shower gel in the room but this was put right quickly. The door to the room was difficult to open and close. The toilet flush kept sticking and running water was difficult to stop. There was no dinner or breakfast available which was not what the description on Booking .com stated.
Nothing apart from the location. My watch was stolen from the bar on the first day asked the manager to check cctv and he told me the cctv doesn’t work which isn’t good especially if something more serious was to happen! First night room stunk beds uncomfortable and they have people staying through the council in other rooms clearly drug users who were screaming and shouting all night. Second night we stayed in a family room which you would think would be fit for a family walked in stunk of weed from previous lodger the tv didn’t have a remote control so couldn’t even watch the tv which bare in mind kids need something to keep the occupied if we were to take kids asked for a remote basically told they didn’t have one! Toilet didn’t flush and beds worst beds I’ve slept in to date.
Everything apart from location staff useless and rooms not fit for purpose

EVERYTHING
Quiet place to stsy
Parking a bit tight
Location was quite good, 6 minutes walk to Ripon centre. Beds comfy.
No local info in room, faulty toilet, place ok but pricey for what it was.
Location to centre was excellent
The whole place has been painted with a trowel gloss paintwork is a mess bathroom wall is very damp ,it looks like the pipes that go through the wall have a leak. Causing dampness to spread across and up the wall
Clean, good food friendly helpful staff
Nothing
Absolutely nothing! Not what the images portray.
Disgusting room, the decorating hadn't been finished unsure to be fair it was disgusting. Full of cobwebs and extremely dated. Very concerned about the black mould of the bed base! Zero water pressure and 2 mornings of no hot water in the shower. It was dark and dismal!
Excellent value for money. Close to the city centre. Quiet and welcoming.
Happy about the whole visit.
Clean and cosy
Love it
Location is nice
The bathroom had a dangerous socket hanging off the wall the shower wasn't sealed properly there was very bad mould in a corner of the bed room, you had to get under a unit to plug and unplug the kettle when filling it up there was a cupboard in the room I thought was to store belongings in and it was an old airing cupboard it was absolutely disgraceful there was no one on site to talk to and raise complaint for a room change it's advertised as a bed and breakfast and they do no breakfast I had to pay 10 pounds extra for my dog and it cost me in total 200 pounds for 2 nights. You could feel the springs in the bed it was absolutely terrible.i have stayed at The White Horse twice before and was in the converted stables rooms which were fine but considering the room we stayed in was in the pub I would have expected better.the stair banister was also not secure enough to support you it was loose and also the door lock was all loose I will never stay at the White Horse Ripon again it was an absolute rip of and if I could have found anyone to speak to I would have asked for a better room and a refund very very disappointed.
None provided
Shower ran hot and cold all the time. Sink hot water tap just a trickle. Kettle flex too short. Had to crawl under desk to plug in and leave kettle on floor.
The position close to to centre I had a good parking
The bed was a small double otherwise every thing ok
Have been to stay a few times, always good. The
The only comment is that all the plants were dead and the courtyard was scruffy with weeds.
The location to the town centre. The Thai restaurant.
the rooms where very dated and shabby. there was no servicing of the room , so had to go to the bar for extra coffee. the mattress on the bed was desperately in need of being replaced.
Booked and paid for 2 rooms only 1 room available then the staff found 2 rooms in the stables 1 was ok and one was dark and shabby.
There was no breakfast served and the barman told us there had not been for years. Eating area was a Thai cafe.
The hotel breached trading standards. No breakfast, no wi fi, garden was locked and abandoned a long time ago. There was no welcome or recognisable reception offering information .we had to ask to find no breakfast or wi fi. Tv was a one channel joke of poor quality .
Staff
When we arrived to check in we were told that they managed to squeeze us in I told him that we had been booked for two months and he said that’s booking.com for you and smiled. We were given the managers room. The room window was dirty and hole along sill and the extension for the TV had a burnt hole in plug so very dangerous. When returning to the bar it felt like the barman did not want anyone in the bar so he could close.
Location
£86 for a single bed in a tiny room which was grubby. No parking, no breakfast availability.
Handy location for the centre of town. Rooms quiet, set back in a courtyard to the rear of the hotel. Pub at the front is good, but doesn't open at lunchtime. The room was clean.
Could do with a bit of a refurb, maybe a new carpet. Although the description says car parking available, we never saw a space available. We parked round the corner on a residential street
Location is perfect for City Centre. Stayed here before.
The location is the only good thing
A very outdated thrown together with old damaged furniture, needs painting , updating, no toilet brush in the bathroom, fusty marks round the shower
Ideally situated
No windows in room. Shower needed attention
The location was convenient. The room was comfortable and fine for what I needed.
Staff were a little difficult to find to check out.
Not much
Never saw staff. Paid for breakfast and parking received neither
No towels provided had to phone host no one on site he said help your self in cupboard not sure what was clean or not hot water took about 5 minutes to come through not good at all
Nothing
Vastly overpriced for what it had to offer. could not bear to stay.
Bar man was nice as was the pub. Room was large.
There was a large slatted blind with a 30cm square cut out and no curtains so no privacy for getting changed its on ground floor. Also woke up at 4am as sun streamed through. Smaller very musty. No water pressure. Bedding was Claen but the pillows were heavily stains and not completely inside cases. Very used mattress. Bar shut at 21:00. No internet. Wardrobe was broken and carpet very stained.
Great location and great staff.
The location was good and staff were nice
The room was not fit for purpose I am afraid. There was water damage/ mould on the walls that had been painted over. The beds (there were twin singles) which I could not see in the pictures on the app, the springs had completely gone so when you sat/laid on the bed you just sunk. There were cobwebs all around the room. It smelt very musty, everything like furniture and linen was tired. There was a strange noise like a fridge running or generator but there wasn’t one in the room. The bathroom was not very nice and I am afraid we could not stay there, we left.
The room was pleasantly situated in what had been a stable yard. It was decently equipped with the usual things and contained a very comfortable bed.
The trouble began before I arrived. I phoned the number given for the hotel, but it turned out to be OYO central and the extension I wanted failed to answer three times. When I arrived I felt like an intruder, but the young barman was helpful. The room was dark and the bathroom spoiled by an inefficient toilet and lack of hot water. Finally, I asked what time the pub closed, was told 10.30 and came back at 9.30 to find the place in darkness.
Spacious
Bathroom
Great location, easy check in, could put our bicycles in the room.
Grubby bathroom, leaky sink.
Good location for what we needed ok for a couple of nights
Very convenient location
Shower wasn’t working properly , more of a dribble than a proper shower
The staff were great
They cancelled a room on us 20 mins before we got there and we still haven't had a refund 2 months later. Please never stay at any OYO hotel
Good place for storing bikes and easy access no staircases. The room was compact, typical bathroom not too small. Bed ok.
A converted stable house, but only a very narrow window high up the way (the building against a bank) so not much natural light. I encountered a huge spider several times :-o. There was a rather musty smelling wardrobe. The location is ok.
Location was good, check in easy, staff were helpful
The room had a bit of an odour in it, was quite old and needed a good bit of TLC
The Thai restaurant in the large adjacent bar.
No breakfast. The sparseness of the room. The dead vegetation in planters, pots and baskets in the stable block courtyard. The tear in the carpet in my room. Only one coathanger in the cupboard.
Room was nice, clean and tidy and the staff are wonderful, welcoming and polite
Nil
Location ok for attending nearby event, carparking on site
Check in booked for 2pm (booking confirmation July 2025), told at 2.30pm we couldn't check in before 3pm or we would be charged extra. Room was in need of a deep clean, cobwebs on ceiling, in window and on lampshade, carpet couldn't have been vacuumed for days (carpet pile, numerous different colour hairs and a dog biscuit!), Bathroom filthy, toilet and shower including all the sealant needed a good clean. No signs for evacuation plan in case of fire. We were booked for 2 night stay but left after 1st night. £90 per night was a complete rip off. Please avoid.
Location
Room was really small and needed tidying up - carpet needed replacing.
Central
Very basic room. Poor tea coffee facilities. No information in the room for places to visit. Uncomfortable bed. Not a very nice room
Staff
Room had a bed smell of damp, cobwebs all over the bathroom, removed 7 spiders from the bathroom. Toilet needed to be cleaned. The whole bedroom needed a clean. Very disappointing and WOULD'NT stay ever again.
Location
The room was scruffy bathroom handle on floor bathroom tumbler looked like never been washed carpet needed vacing road noise
Nice location in town. Nice big room and very clean
Nothing
De plek. Dicht tegen het leuke centrum aan.
Eigenlijk alles. Het was vies, de matrassen slecht (zakten door), badkamer was smerig en de douche werkte niet, het was al warm en de verwarming kon niet uit, er was niet gezogen, meubilair (stoelen en hoofdbord van het bed waren goor), het was echt heel erg.
The location. Room 10.
Half of the blinds missing so no privacy and wardrobe broken. Stains all over the and tea coffee area. Shower had no pressure and just dripped. Toilet comes away from the floor. No parking as those who drink and drive use the spaces that aren’t meant for the rooms you stop in. £294 for one night and a damp drivel room is not ok.
The location was good
The rooms were tired and dated , no wardrobes toilet didnt flush very good , parking was terrible
Location was good, staff were friendly and helpful
Size of room was so small not wot I was sent on photos, cobwebs and spider's, entrance was dirty cobwebs, spider's, dirt and leaves, really needed a good sweep not been touched at all
Nothing
Cold damp dirty
Very close to centre of Ripon. Ripon Cathedral was in 10 mins walk Attractive old pub building. Friendly and helpful staff. Room had been recently redecorated in minamilist functional style Bathroom had been recently updated with generous size shower enclosure. Evening meal in Thai restaurant on ground floor provided an enjoyable experience without having to.leave the building
Small car park at back of pub could do with a sign on the street running up the side of the pub to guide travellers arriving by car. Had trouble getting through to get guidance by phone to reach destination. Outside of Window in room needed washing. Bathroom had surprisingly noisey ventilation fan..
Comfy bed, good spacious shower and a great pint of Guinness
Nothing really. Good value room to get your head down in after cycling over the Yorkshire Dales in pouring rain.
The location was great. The new Thai restaurant arrangement was good.
Our room was less than average. There were marks on the wall, the shower had a botched job makeover and the curtains looked like they had seen better days.
Although breakfast was not available the adjoining thai restaurant was busy, and the pub was friendly. Room is bright and recently renovated, and spacious.
No wifi available although staff did try to make it work.
Nothing
Beds were very comfy and staff were friendly. Room was clean and spacious.
Excellent location, a few minutes walk to the city centre.
Wobbly toilet seat. Stain on the room carpet covered by a rug.
Outstanding staff and location
Absolutely nothing
Excellent location, clean and tidy. Food was first class and staff and locals very friendly.

Going into town & finding a cafe which actually had hot water in their bathroon/ Toilet.
The mould in the room.. the bathroom lights mirror that didn't work & the main Fitting lamp which was on the way out & was only dim.. The room which looked absolutely nothing like the room pictures.. A shocking room for a shocking price.. Please avoid at all costs..
No
I didn’t have breakfast
It was cold. An electric heater was provided. The TV didn’t work. The room was very cramped.
Staff, totally fantastic! Polite, considerate and accommodating. Couldn't have hoped for nicer hosts for my stay. My room was comfortable and had all that I needed for my short stay.
Heated radiator in bathroom didn't seem to work. A boiler or heating noise seemed to be activated at regular intervals throughout the night.
Great value. Great location. Friendly staff.
Was central to Ripon and only 10 min from my main destination Parking on site Basic room but very clean and lovely shower!!!! I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay Staff fantastic and genuinely interested in my accompanying dogs. Locals were great and chatty , felt safe as a solo visitor
Just needed a few pictures on wall to make it homely BUT not essential !!!
I've stayed here previously, but this was my first time in the main pub building, rather than what I think are the converted stables across the courtyard. The chap who checked me in was cheerful, friendly, GSOH. Explained everything I needed to know for my stay. I had a single ensuite room. It was clean & cozy enough. Bathroom also was clean. Bed: comfortable. As previously, I enjoyed my stay, & will most likely revisit at some point when I'm visiting friends & family in the area.
Nothing
Price,staff and closeness to city.
Hot water not available from basin tap and shower hot/cold water control too unpredictable.
WE HAVE STAYED AT THE PROPERTY BEFORE AND IT IS NOW UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. THEY ARE JUST GETTING THEIR FEET UNDER THE TABLE AND BREAKFAST WAS NOT AVAILABLE BUT THEY CORDIALLY INVITED US TO JOIN IN THE FREE FOOD AFTER PUB EVENTS. A PLEASANT VIBE.
FINE FOR US
nothing
We had to ask for another room the one we got was dark, cold and smelt of damp, the 2nd room was a bit better but still not worth what we paid to stay.
It was close to the town and shops, staff was helpful.
It was a bit small the room but not that bad.
Very helpful and pleasant staff . Clean room and comfortable bed. Convenient location.
No breakfast or meals available. Rather tired building. No hot water apart from shower. room had a tired feel, but very clean.
Very friendly and accommodating team, from the bar staff in the evening to the cleaning staff in the morning. We were cycling and they allowed us to store our bikes in a safe space indoors. The accommodation was very clean. A bit old and tired but very good value for money and all we needed for our stay :)
Unfortunately the wifi didn't seem to work but we didn't actually ask about it so perhaps there was a solution to it
very central, but quiet.
Although rooms are small you have everything you need for a one night stay. Would book again.
The staff member I sore was very helpful as the pub was shut and did not open on a Monday which did not state
Nothing really it was a very small room as the twin bed rooms where located on the 3rd floor with a lot of steps when I had asked for a low level room a staff member the only one working showed me three ground floor rooms in the stable yard which was much better
The property is located in the heart of ripon with a minuets walk into the centre and very close to the cathedral. The team and Sam are very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. With off road parking a great place to stay in ripon. I will definitely recommend The White Horse.
Very good service, I booked on day of arrival, got upgraded as the room was on 3rd floor and I have older dog, very grateful to get room on ground floor, great staff and great place for a beer
Nothing really
We didn't have breakfast, location excellent. staff amazing and made us feel so welcome. We had a great time with them and were so well looked after.
More parking, ended up with a ticket as i didn't realise there was restricted parking if you can't get on the carpark. maybe let visitors know so we could have parked somewhere else.
Budget property
People friendly
Location
Parking facilities
Location was fine for us. However, very disappointing that there were no kitchen facilities, therefore no evening meal or breakfast that we have had in the past. I will say the bed linen and towels were excellent.
Having to leave the premises to eat as hadn’t expected too! There was no heating apart from a plug in electric heater. One of the rooms had no cold tap working. Another with bed springs protruding and pillows weren’t so good.
Not availableThe rooms needs a totall make over , there was only tea available no coffee , no flavoured teas .
I think this has been answered.
The rooms were nice but the stay was -10. The place advertised open 12/02.00am. When we got back at 9.30 pm it was all in darkness and never open. It stated they did evening meals but it wasn’t open. When we checked out at 10.30 there wasn’t a member of staff anywhere. We had to leave the back door of the property open and leave the key on the window sill. Will never stay again or recommend it to anyone else
Anything
The staff were lovely.
When entering the pub to check in from the rear it stunk of urine. We went to our room and it was old, tired, stunk and was filthy. There was chipped paint, the bed base was filthy and ripped, the toilet didn’t flush properly, there were old dried up air fresheners dotted about the place, the shower was dirty around the outlet and I didn’t dare use it. One radiator was hanging off the wall and there was a stand alone plug in radiator we didn’t bother plugging in. The tea and coffee and kettle were on a tiny shelf and the bedside cabinets were worn and scratched. There was also mould. It’s a shame because it could be lovely and it’s in a great area!
No heating was the biggest problem
I payed twice and you said they would not give me any money when i know you didnt contact them. I know the owner there. You owe me £65. Con artist you lot.
Clean, comfortable bed, quiet, large sized bathroom, hot water, friendly staff etc.
Room was incredibly hot at night - could do with a fan of some sort.
