Title: Terrible room condition and highly unprofessional front desk staff Review: I was extremely disappointed with both the room conditions and the service at this property. First, the cleanliness and overall state of the room, bedding, and shared bathrooms were unacceptable—it honestly felt like the property was not being managed or maintained at all. On top of that, the front desk service was highly unprofessional. When I went to check in alone, the staff member (a woman in her 30s with brown skin) assumed I was staying alone. She never checked our reservation details—which were clearly booked for two guests—nor did she bother to ask how many people were in our group. As I took the key and was about to leave, she suddenly asked if I had a companion and requested the other guest's ID. While checking IDs is standard practice, the confusion, unnecessary delay, and frustration were entirely caused by her failure to verify the booking details or ask a basic question from the start. Despite the issue being caused by her own oversight, she never apologized for the delay. Worse, once everything was finalized, she handed over the keys in complete silence—without saying a simple "Here you go," "Thank you," or "Sorry for the wait." Showing visible annoyance and projecting her frustration onto guests is completely unacceptable for someone working in hospitality. A simple question at the start could have prevented the entire friction, but her poor attitude left a very negative impression. I strongly recommend avoiding this place.

Plugs in room barely charged, even after 12+ hours plugged in; no ventilation in rooms except open windows, which let in very loud traffic noise; TV room was much more bare than in the past, only 2 movies to watch (Finding Nemo and Babylon), no option to login to streaming services at all, which is basic at most hostels; kitchen cutlery was poorly stocked, barely any forks and very poorly organized throughout.

На жаль, стан хостелу вже досить далекий від свіжого. Раніше це був готель мережі Samesun, але приблизно у 2024 році він перейшов до мережі HI Hostels. Станом на вересень 2026 року інтер'єр виглядає доволі пошарпаним, особливо в кімнатах і спільних ванних кімнатах. Складається враження, що після зміни мережі повноцінного ремонту тут не проводили, хоча він уже точно не завадив би. У нашій кімнаті був неприємний запах несвіжості, навіть попри відкрите вікно. На простирадлі була пляма. Подушка була стара, незручна та також мала плями. Ліжка не обладнані шторами, тому приватності практично немає. З плюсів — біля ліжка є розетка. Водночас загалом рівень чистоти був прийнятним, тому проблема радше у зношеності інтер'єру та стані окремих речей, ніж у загальній чистоті. Сніданку зараз немає, хоча коли це був Samesun, його пропонували. Наразі є лише кухня, де гості можуть готувати самостійно. У душових також немає шампуню чи гелю для душу.

Fridges were dirty , storage room dirty , place a little run down , could be cleaner , and needs a paint job inside & out !

Almost all but few things needs to maybe change as a suggestion.

Washrooms are not nice at all, and there are only 2 showers for many rooms, and I will suggest have curtains for privacy and last the lockers are too small I couldn't even enter my small bag.

The dirtiest hostel I have ever stayed at - as soon as I showed up I felt uncomfortable about staying there. Unfortunately many of the people staying there seemed to have issues. From arguments with reception staff, to private, confidential conversations about a court case in the men’s showers. There was so much drama and troubled people. Level 3 smelt like tobacco, and with the room I was staying in. Bed sheets were totally worn out and in need of replacement. The showers on level 3 looked like they had not been maintained in weeks. There was slime and mould around the shower, and the shower curtain was disgusting. It smelt like BO throughout the whole place Around the men’s sink was full of mould and grime. Totally gross and extremely unhygienic, this definitely hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. For ~$80/night + $10 for parking it’s a total rip off. Yes, it might be the cheapest place to stay in Kelowna but it’s certainly not value for money. For the poor level of comfort and overall guest experience it is totally not worth this sum of money. I will never stay here again, and instead camp nearby or Airbnb.

Location and quiet inside. Nice patio area and large kitchen. Lots of vending machine snacks. The lounge area was also modern and relaxing.

I know it was shared dorms, but the floor was dirty and the walls were unkept. Need larger pillows on the beds and the showers were very grungy. Air conditioner worked but took all day to cool off.

When we arrived the bed sheet had had all over it and when we arrived and had to request a new one, the room also smelled very strongly of cigarettes the staff gave us some febreeze to spray but it couldn't cover the cigarettes smell, my partner is asthmatic and had a lot of difficulty breathing in the night. The room was also extremely hot and the small ac unit did not do much more than make noise

Great location, the staff were friendly and everyone respected the rules of the hostel.

Les sanitaires auraient bien besoin d’une rénovation. J’ai déjà séjourné dans dans des hôtels bien moins chers avec une chambre et literie de meilleure qualité.

Rooms and bathrooms were very unclean during our stay of just under a week the bathrooms weren't cleaned at all. Check in process was slow, bed was extremely uncomfortable and sheets weren't clean

I like that is is located right downtown only a 2 min walk to the beach and the downtown shopping/restaurants etc. I also love that the check in is very easy, requires no deposit or hold on your acccount- just a valid credit card in the event something is damaged, if not then you simply just pay for your room, sleep, and check out- only paying for the room. I did find the room rate to be very expensive though. While I understand that in comparison to the $45ish bed cost for a hostel is average and a great bargain if you need something cheap and are looking for communal living…for their regular room rates, they offer great staff, processes and pricing- usually.

myself and my partner ended up in town very unexpectedly and at the last minute decided to stay over night. A double occupancy should we had a bed each in dorms would have been about $90+tax, the one “private” bunk bed room for two people cost us $170+tax. That’s more than most high end hotels cost per night. We could have stayed at a best western, a Sheraton or something in a king suite or a cabin suite at a resort for that price. When it comes to budget level places- we could have stayed for 2-3 nights for the same price and still had a queen bed to sleep on if not two and a private bathroom and working tv. Unfortunately we didn’t have the time or the ability to consider another option because of our circumstances. So we were able to pay for the room and have privacy, but the room itself was 6x10 ft aprox. With a bunk bed, a shared bathroom down the hall with other residents. These aren’t horrible circumstances- given we had paid the Roxie appropriate for them. What I’m really upset about is the staff and their attempt to charge me double that price- stating that the private room was $170/person when we had called first. I had assumed that like other hostels and their other chains locations that “private room” meant a queen bed in a room+ more. We booked online instead and still were paying too much.

Sauberkeit könnte insgesamt besser sein, von drei Toastern war nur einer vertrauenswürdig, bei allen anderen war etwas abgebrochen. Liegt vielleicht aber auch daran wie die Leute damit umgehen. Von den duschen war ein duschkopf kaputt, in einer Dusche lief das Wasser nicht ab. Insgesamt zu wenig ablegemöglichkeiten für saubere Klamotten in der Dusche

The location was definitely good which is why we eneded up booking this place. When we checked in, we were taken by a surprise. The front desk area was definitely nice and clean but the room we got was pathetic. It was full of dust, smell and we also found a spider which we had to crawl out from a window. I am allergic to dust and started to react which is why we decided to leave within couple hours. We ended booking an expensive place on airbnb just because we had to leave this one due to cleanliness issues. We reached out to booking.com customer care team and we were assured of complete support on refund with this booking. However, this experience also didnt go well even after providing pictures and videos of the property. The property declined to refund us and booking.com turned tables saying they couldn't do much but give us a credit for $38.62. We were charged for 1 full day for a bad experience that we had because we trusted in a property that was on booking.com . I am disappointed with not just this property but also the way booking.com handled my concern.

Looked a little rundown. The floor in my dorm was very sticky.. looked like a cola drink had been knocked over and inadequately wiped up.

Close to downtown with bars & restaurants

Lots of issues - the private room was far from clean, mouldy shower and stained bedsheets. A workman was in the room for half an hour after we checked in, staff did not tell us this at check in. Toilet and shower dripped all night, causing the bath mat to be sodden on arrival.

The room was clean and had enough space for storage, all lights, outlets and ac/heater were working. The shared kitchen was lots of necessary stuff.

All doors were too heavy and loud even when someone tried to close them quietly. It would be nice to put something that stops the door from slamming. Also the lights in the hallway are bathrooms can be dimmed at night.

Surprised l had to pay for parking this time, something new, and not great. Wasn't clearly aware .

The location is perfect for Kelowna to access the lake, the downtown area, parks and the historic district.

Firstly, there was a lot of issues with our two cards not working to get into the room. Then there was a mix up with the parking passes. It took about 30 mins to check in as a result. Also btw it costs $10 extra dollars per car each night which I didn’t know before driving there. The room two person bunk bed was tiny and dank. It didn’t seem that clean and could definitely use some brightening up. Actually the whole place needs a touch up and refresh and a really good scrub down like the bathroom doors and door handles - yuck. The pillows could use replacement. Overall the price & value was horrendous for the room.

For the price you’d expect a bit more cleanliness and room expectation to be a little higher but I guess the location is what you pay for.

We booked a private room. Doors shutting are really loud, you can hear everyone walking around and the traffic outside so if you’re a light sleeper not great. The cleanliness of the rooms were not good, sheets did not look clean and the floor had dirt all over it and old rubbish left in the room as well.

Sleeping accommodations were fine

Lobby smelled badly of fish as soon as I walked in, extra money for parking. Yes hostels have quiet times overnight, but the kitchen was locked, so when I went to leave in the morning I couldn't grab my drink or food I left in the fridge, so I left 20 bucks in the fridge. Overall not happy about that. It's fine for a night, bot overall not the best spot.
