Sfeervol hotel met vriendelijk personeel. Fijn dat er 24 uursreceptie is en een wasservice.

Het was gehorig, onze kamer zat onder een houten trap die nogal doorklonk. Het was zeker niet vies maar ook niet heel fris, er zaten bijvoorbeeld rouwvliegjes in de badkamer en het doucheputje liep niet zo goed door.

The staff were very friendly and it was in a great location.

The worst part was the noise. The hotel is next to a mosque which has a call to prayer late and very early. I do not think this is an issue as to travel is to see someone else's culture, but it would have been ideal to know this and prepare. Worse was the hotel is inside of a restaurant which does not close until near to midnight. Single pane windows meant all sound came in. The room was also very small and outdated.

Nebenan ist ein Moschee. Der Lautsprecher ist genau in der gleiche Höhe unseres Zimmer, daher sehr laut.

Klimaanlage, selbst wenn unsere aus war, hörte man das Gerät des Nebenraumes. Schlecht schließende Fenster, dadurch auch laut. Zimmer war über der Küche eines „Restaurants“. Zustand des Hauses - z. T. Renovierungsbedürftig, sonst sehr einfach. Wie diese Unterkunft mit 4 Sternen und einer 8,0 bewertet bei booking.com erscheint, kann ich mir nicht erklären. Vielleicht gibt es bessere Zimmer und Lagen innerhalb der beiden Gebäude.

The part above the Japanese restaurant was noisy and as for the rest, if you didn't want Asian street life, why come to Penang? The mosque is very loud but you get used to it and the Hindu temple across the way is loud too. THIS IS FINE but if you are finicky this may matter. The faux Peranakan Chinese tourists getting photographed in front of the hotel is fun.

The room was excellent, clean spacious with good quality furniture. Along with that, being right next to Armenian street and main market makes it the best choice for the stay. The staff was helpful and very friendly.

Very central to the heritage area and lots of options to visit and to eat out. Hotel itself is very colonial style with lots of seating areas and comfy places. Not a big hotel but love the atmosphere. Staff were very helpful. Room was big, plenty of hot water, and housekeeping daily so room was always clean and tidy. Safe and hairdryer are available in room plus kettle and coffee.

Our only complaint which is outwith the hotels control was the daily call to prayer which can happen very early in the morning and later on in the evening.

Ich finde die Unterkunft ist ein Geheimtipp. Klein, aber fein und wirklich optimal gelegen um die Stadt zu erkunden. Das Personal ist extrem freundlich und aufmerksam und immer sehr Hilfsbereit.

Quelle agréable surprise que ce petit hôtel dans le centre de Georgetown. Nous avons booké une chambre pour 3 (2 adultes et un enfant de 9 ans). La chambre était très spécieuse, Tout était propre , joliment décoré et le personnel est très sympathique. Literie très confortable, jolie déco et idéalement situé. Très bon rapport qualité prix 🥇. Foncez !

It's a lovely boutique hotel, with beautiful decoration and character, we absolutely loved the architecture and the renovated traditional house. We booked the family room, which has a small separate room, and it was very spacious. Very clean too. They don't provide breakfast but there's tea and coffee and a water fountain. The location is great too, on a quite side street but in the middle of the old town, so super close to all the action.

The only negative is that there is a mosque just around the corner and the several daily calls to prayer were extremely loud, literally like having the loud speaker next door. The first one was around 6:15am and it woke everyone up, and it would last up to 15 min every morning. If you are an early riser or can go back to sleep easily, I guess it's not a big issue, but my kids were up and couldn't go back to sleep after that. To be fair, we saw several mosques in the old town, within a relatively small radius, so it might be the case that wherever you are in the old town, you can hear one mosque or another. Not sure. Apart from that, everything else was great.

The Hotel is super cute and very tidy! We really felt like home. There was fresh water that you could refill anytime, also the staff was very friendly and kind! :)

We already read the reviews beforehand, so we knew that it could be quite loud at night, that was true. We had our room directly next to the street so you could really hear everything going out outside. In our first night there was a strange ticking noise all the time but it was gone the second night. :)

Ich hatte wohl das Pech, als Alleinreisende das ungemütliche Zimmer zu erwischen. Kein Fenster bzw. 1 kleines mit Blick auf 2 Kühlgeräte, welche ununterbrochen liefen. Darunter ein Restaurant, mit Küche im offenen Verbindungstrakt. Gerüche und Küchengeräusche bis spät in die Nacht. Das Zimmer war sehr klein, hatte keinen Safe, keinen Kühlschrank, dafür aber einen in meinen Augen absolut unnötigen Fernseher. Schade, denn das Interieur des Hotels ist ansprechend.

I stayed in the room with balcony, right beside it is an old cemetery, was a bit shocked, if I knew I wouldn’t have booked it. Nothing scary, its just I prefer not to sleep beside graveyard.

The room was tiny - barely enough floor space to place the bags. The bathroom was tiny as well. The hotel is very close to a mosque; sa 5 am and 6 am calls for prayer will wake you up if you don’t have earplugs.

The hotel room and the location were excellent — truly outstanding in terms of comfort.

I deeply respect the local customs, but since the mosque was right next to the hotel, the 6 a.m. call to prayer was very loud and made it a bit difficult to sleep through the early mornings.

Everything! This place has so much character to it and also was very functional/comfortable. I booked a family loft room and the layout was perfect in having some level of privacy. The location of the hotel is so central with so many eateries and major attractions close by (all within walking distance). I will book this place again when I return to George Town.

Excellent Location walking distance to Armenian street and the street art. Comfortable room suited for a family of 4. Safe area.

However, this hotel did have an elevator which required my elderly grandparents to climb the stairs slowly. Also this property is located right beside a mosque, so be prepared to wake up at 5am and 6am at the prayer call timings. The property could have better sound proofing at least.

The location was absolutely perfect so much so that we prolonged our stay to three nights! This historic building with its charming boho style lobby was a pleasure to casually sit in and chat. The knowledgeable staff was wonderful, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. The large and absolutely quiet room was lovely, impeccably clean and soooo comfortable. I highly recommend

Sentral location

Slept in a different building than the original hotel, over a restaurant that was noisy and always a smell of food. The pictures were nothing like the room/building we got and we would not have stayed there if we knew this. Got woken up at around 5 in the morning every day by the moské and they kept going to 11 at night.

The location.

We booked 2 Deluxe Rooms expecting them to be somewhat similar. However, one was much smaller in size with hardly any room to move around. The towels provided were ‘new’ and apparently washed prior to them given to us. However, we begged to differ as they had so much excess fibres that shed all over your body and into your nostrils when used.

I believe that the hotel has more comfortable rooms and can offer a more pleasant experience than we had. But I would still like to meet other travelers and exchange impressions, because some of the guest comments confuse me. If there is one thing worth praising, it is the location, but given the overall impression, I would without hesitation prefer to stay a kilometer further from the tourist center, but more comfortably.

The hotel is very close to the mosque and is not soundproofed at all, so you feel like the loudspeaker is blaring right next to your ear. The room is very dark, poorly ventilated, there is mold on the walls, the air conditioning is very weak, so it was impossible to sleep at night, not to mention the uncomfortable bed. The furniture is old, a shelf in the wardrobe came loose and fell on my leg. The entrance to the bathroom has a high threshold, so the guest has to be very careful not to sprain his ankle. I imagine something different under the term Deluxe Room. The hotel promises a non-stop reception, but at 7 a.m. you will find there just a completely incompetent man who does not speak English and is not even able to call a taxi.

Great location in the old part of the town, walking distance to almost every landmark and restaurant/bar in the center. Both A/C and fan are available in the room which is perfect, you can use the A/C during the day and fan during the nice so you won’t wake up sick!

We had a room on the ground floor with a small terrace but the door was stuck and impossible to open. We managed to do that 2 people each time, but when I first asked the staff they said that it doesn’t work and that they’ll fix it next month. Also, it’d be nice if there was a mini fridge in the rooms.

Nice boutique cosy hotel pefectly located to explore. In need of some painting in the room we had as starting to look unfresh. Nearby mosque wasnt actually an issue for us but ma be for others. Very friendly staff.

Wifi was terrible in my room. Moved to another room but was very noisy. But earplugs solved that.
