Shipwright Inn

The hotel was in walking distance to all the “must see” points of interest in Charlottetown. The location was perfect. The period decor matched the ambiance of the history of the house and the 19th century builder/residents. The current owners were hospitable and friendly.

Our bedroom, located in the original part of the house was spacious and nicely decorated. The only drawback was that the air conditioning speeds could not be adjusted.

Fabulous place - really quirky decor - very good breakfast- very central

Location is excellent, about a 10 minute walk from downtown, the art and performance centers. Room was large and very comfortable. Bathroom and tub with jets were great. Quiet and safe neighborhood. Off street parking. Breakfast was good with hot and cold choices, plus non-dairy option. Coffee and juice was excellent. Lovely interior with antique decorations and also a comfortable sitting room. Overall a great place and would not hesitate to return.

The host was welcoming. The whole place was charming, quaint but comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated for a historic building. The location was quiet, but easy walk downtown. Breakfasts were really good; buffet style hot and cold food and unlimited coffee or tea etc. Free parking on site.

The bed was a small double just about big enough for two. It was very high, and I was quite anxious about rolling out in my sleep! The other side had steps to get in. The mattress was very bouncy if either of us moved or got up in the night. The bedside table on my side was quite tiny, and I need room to put "stuff" these days. The bathroom was minimal. No space for toiletries bags. The toilet seat was loose and as the floor was slightly slanted, the seat tended to slip when sat upon. I wouldn't want to stay in that room again, but would try a larger one.

We loved this charming bed and breakfast, as well as the thoughtful staff! The coffee room and breakfast buffet were lovely!

Heavily scented bed linens went out of fashion MANY years ago. Nobody does that anymore. It was physically impossible to stay in the room due to that plus an overwhelming use of Fabreze or something similar - it smelled like the place had just been fumigated for an infestation of some sort. The suggestion that the comment section of the booking could have been used to note an allergy to overpowering smells is ridiculous - THEY should be advertising the use of excessive scents as a warning, expecting customers to anticipate that.

Close proximity to all the restaurants and bars downtown

Quiet neighborhood but people coming in late can make noise on the stairs and sit outside on your balcony smoking or making phone calls. Would book again but opt for the upper floors

The staff were friendly and very accommodating.

It's an old Victorian building with very little soundproofing between rooms. Consequently, not a good nights sleep which was not mgt problem. The family in the room above us had kids who played and ran around until midnight.

The Inn was well maintained, comfortable and clean. It was in an excellent location and I was able to walk to various restaurants and cafes. I also appreciated ample free parking.

Old dusty memorabilia around… bedding covers were a bit dusty, the location doesn’t describe the fact that there isn’t an elevator, we had lots of luggage and needed to drag it up old dusty carpeted steps. . Breakfast was eatable however a bit industrial.

Suite with separate entrance did not detail it was in a basement upon initial booking. That should have been clear. For the 300.00 a night sleeping in a basement was not worth it. Bacon was overcooked & tater tots mushy. The area the home was in was sketchy and felt unsafe to walk around. Maybe it was the creackheads down the street that offset the atmosphere.

Terrible bed and no blackout blind or curtains!! The downstairs room has an extremely narrow 4ft double bed providing a very poor night’s sleep for two people - it’s far too narrow, too high and too soft! A bigger modern double bed is now required, it’s no longer 1929! To add insult to injury, just to finish you off, the room filled with the light at 5:20am as there were no blackout curtains! Stayed two nights and we were exhausted!

The breakfast was great, the atmosphere was good and staff were welcoming.

There was a perfume smell in the room. The AC didn’t keep the temperature in the room regulated. There was a humming noise from outside that we could not determine where it was coming from that kept us up. There was also an air pocket that formed on the bed when you sat on it that made it uncomfortable.

I like that it was historic and Victorian looking. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. It was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and plentiful. It was also easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. The street was quiet at night for sleeping.

I liked everything but I would suggest leaving more than 1 towel per person since the towels didn’t dry well overnight.

Jason was exceptional throughout our stay. Friendly, helpful, hardworking. Always smiling! The Shipwright felt like a home from home. We particularly loved the hot and cold drinks station and access to fridges. Perfect for making an iced coffee on a hot day.

I came to PEI for a one-week vacation to cycle and visit historical sites. The Shipwright Inn was perfect! It is really close to the central area of Charlottetown but without the noise and traffic that sometimes accompanies hotels that are situated downtown. The breakfast was delicious, my room was spacious, clean and well-appointed, and the staff were very attentive and friendly (I enjoyed discussing my day excursions with the owner). I really appreciated how accommodating they were, allowing me to store my bicycle in their shed. The hotel also has quite a great deal of historical charm. Highly recommended!

The Inn is so charming with rooms to sit and read or have a cup of tea. Our room with two twin beds was spacious—bigger than a standard hotel room. The location was excellent. We were within walking distance to the downtown area.

The Shipwright is a great old school B&B. It's a very well-maintained building, fully decorated with antique and local pieces, and comfortable rooms and thoughtful amenities. We were in Door 1 and had a convenient communal fridge and microwave for our use.
