No complaints, was exactly as you would expect.

The bathroom was disgraceful. The shower curtain was really dirty and mouldy as was the rest of the bathroom. The bed was very uncomfortable and the bedding was Inadequate.

The room we got was outdated, furniture was badly stained, we had to put a blanket on it to sit. Spa bath was all chipped in many places and looked horrible to even try. We have stayed here before and had an amazing room last time.

There was no shower gel in the container and a lot of the cups were very badly stained. The control for the electric blanket was at the end of the bed. Just small details not attended to but it is a good place to stay

Because I was going to arrive when reception would be closed reception had arranged with me to leave key in room and the door would be unlocked, when I arrived the door was locked and I could not get in. I could not get a hold of them either. So I had to find another location yet still paid fr this one. I'm still waiting for a reply!

Reviewed May 24, 2026Love the staff, warm inviting and accommodating. The front office team immediately refreshed amenities when requested, late check out available and well needed as we are back and forth supporting whanau having a new baby. The spa was the perfect touch to relax after a long drive to Taranaki. Wash house facilities kept us clean and grateful they were not cut off at a certain time- this meant we were free to work to our own schedule.

There was a funny smell in the upstairs room when we first arrived but it went away a few minutes after opening the windows. It wasn't a big deal.

Room was clean however the room did smell we had to keep door and windows open to air it out we did ask for an air freshener but they didn't have any Rooms should have an extraction fan for cooking as it's impossible to not have cooking odours in rooms Would be nice if patio was swept lots of leaves didn't look tidy, leaves at front doorway aswell

Reviewed Mar 29, 2026While ground floor(entry) it was nice to be elevated one story out the back(property on a hill) with a huge verandah. Easy walk to waterfront , town, galleries and eateries.. the church up and across the road is worth a visit for some history too. Spacious room. Comfy chairs.
It was a little older than expecting with a very small TV (by usual standards these days) .The bathroom tap was extremely noisy.

The shower was odd, standing in a bath, wouldn't have liked to use the spa bath as didn't look particularly clean. There was a strange overpowering smell at night next to the bed, not sure if it was carpet cleaner or furniture cleaner.

This is the second time we have stayed here and it is very noisy especially with traffic noise, no double glazing on windows. The bathrooms are looking very tired. If we stay here again I would specifically ask for a ground floor room, as these seem to be a bit more quieter. Overall though a nice place to stay.

Cleanliness was not quite met. Bathroom had not been cleaned properly at all. We were 4 people and only one mug. Staff had to go and look for extra mugs around the property then only brought back 3. Teacups were so tiny for two grown men. Had to ask for milk daily.
