Leuke mensen. Groot zwembad en alles netjes

Manos, Mikalis, Costas and Soula and the rest of the staff were very accommodating. They made sure our stay was as comfortable as can be. They let us have 2 rooms next to each other instead of rooms on separate floors. The rooms were cleaned everyday, towels were changed as well. May need to use fabric conditioner on the towels as they were a bit rough 😬. They gave us info about the island. Even our tour guide knew Manos as a good person. There were cats around the resort which we enjoyed feeding during our stay. The pool was a good size, with plenty of sun beds available to use. The location was close to the town with shops and markets, the beach around 20 minutes walk away.

Really enjoyed this hotel. Room was lovely much nicer than we expected. 3 beds and a nice balcony with a little kitchen area. Bathroom did however get very wet with each shower but not really an issue. Location was good a little walk to get anywhere but it didnt bother us. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool. Free WiFi throughout was an added bonus. Overall a really good experience
Would not recommend. The bar staff are incredibly rude and verbly attacked me and my partner. Constantly went on about how women are a “desire” and how my partner was weak for only chasing one desire and not being a cheater. There were multiple extra charges that kept being added on. The bar man tried to start a physical fight with us one night. Rooms were never cleaned, kept asking for fresh towels and toilet rolls and all requests got ignored. One night we were told to leave the bar and to never come back (this is a bit hard seen as the bar is the main way in and out of the hotel). When we finally had enough and went to check out early to stay in another hotel we got chased on a motorbike with the owner claiming we had an unpaid tab and he’d contacted the police and sent our passports to passport control! Everytime we ordered something we paid on the spot apart from once when we was told it was on the house we paid the money anyways and he said he would apparently “cancel” the police. Had a much better experience in my second hotel I would avoid this one at all costs it’s quite pricey in the bar anyways and you can tell they makr up whatever price they want to charge in their head. Also had some money go missing on this trip and after reading the other reviews heavily starting to suspect it was the bar staff that took that too. The bar man speaks about women as though they were items or sex toys despite him being married he just claims thats what a woman’s purpose is. Also they advertise the air con as being free it isn’t you have to pay €75 for the week for it on top of a deposit and tax as soon as you arrive. If you speak to any of them as well or go on the website they will try to claim the hotel is “5 minute” walk to the city centre, and another 5 to the beach. It’s 15 minuites to the centre and 30 to the beach the hotel is in the middle of nowhere.
Lovely as always was out in may with my son had a great time, rooms cleaned daily, Beautiful new bathrooms. All staff was so good to my son couldn’t do enough for us, didn’t need aircon as it wasn’t that warm at night, I was self catering this time as my son has additional needs and doesn’t eat very well but dora the cook was fantastic and made him what he liked so can’t thanks them enough for that, will be returning in July thanks manos and Costa another great holiday
We arrived on 7th May 2026 late and was met with a lovely man called manos who checked us in. He led us to a ground floor apartment which had 1 bedroom with 2 beds and 2 single beds in small kitchen area Apartment had air con, we didn't use it as was there in may. €70 tourist tax for the two weeks We kept the room on, on the last day and it was €30 to 6pm. Kitchen 2 ring cooker, 4 mugs, 2 half pint glasses, cutlery ( only 1 fork, no sharp knife for cutting) 2 large salad bowls, no bowls for soup or cereal, 1 frying pan and one large pot, fridge and small freezer. no egg slice or big spoon, no microwave no toaster Balcony had one table and four chairs Bathroom was lovely and clean, no shampoo, body wash or hand wash supplied - everytime you had a shower though, the whole bathroom was covered in water as shower glass didn't contain it to the shower After arriving late we headed back out thought we would have a beer before bed and met costas on the bar who was chatty and friendly, while having a beer manos came and gave us a bowl of peanuts to enjoy with the beer, great personal touch ( never got another bowl in the 2 weeks we were there lol) Breakfast We were half board and on 1st morning we went for breakfast, sausages, bacon, fried eggs, scrambled eggs and bacon was in a buffet tray which was sat a while at a low heat, sausages and bacon wasn't to our taste and eggs were black There was two 2 slice toasters, bananas, apples, Greek yogurt, baps, cheese, tomato, cucumber, cereal, honey, orange juice, water tea and coffee. We didn't eat a lot and on way out the owner manos said to us if there's anything we want tomoz for breakfast just ask and they would make it which was lovely You need the radio on at breakfast it's so quiet Evening meal We didn't realise there was no buffet or you couldn't choose your evening meal,( actually really disappointing as we paid to upgrade to half board before we came) we sat down and was presented with a tuna salad which looked beautiful but myself or my partner don't eat tuna or any fish so had to send back, the main was pork gyros which we didn't fancy pork and explained, manos came out and said what about chicken gyros we said yes, dish came out just chicken meat on sliced potatoes ( no onions or tomato) separate plate of tzatziki sauce and pitta bread cut into triangles, there was a lot of food each. Dessert was melon and strawberries, yet other guests got cake before the melon and strawberries and then two shots after meal, we didn't. I'll be honest the whole 2 weeks was us always thinkin ' Wonder what's on for dinner tonight' cause there's things we don't like and you feel bad saying no, personally I think you should never come on a holiday and be made eat what's given you, we've worked hard all year for a holiday and you want to eat what you fancy, so why not choose every night off the bar menu they have? This is one of the things to let this hotel down is the lack of food choice. Cleaners Cleaners seemed to not want to properly clean our apartment, they knocked most days it was like a mother and daughter doin the cleaning, mother always spoke, daughter not so much seemed to have an attitude, they left a towel and toilet roll at times, bed got changed once in the 2 weeks, they left the sheet and top duvet folded so we had to make it! floor brushed and mopped twice in two weeks. Pool The pool area has large comfy sunbeds and blue sun loungers, maybe 4 of them all have an umbrella available though. The pool has a shallow and a deep end with steps in. In the two weeks the hotel is lovely, a 10/15min walk into the town, a shop at the bottom of the road to get some bits and bottled water. Staff are lovely and friendly. Having a set menu is the let down totally in this hotel, we noticed when ppl paid for a breakfast they got proper English sauages and proper English bacon and hash browns! Not the mush we got in a Luke warm buffet tray, also on chattin to regular holiday makers they said that the buffet breakfast and set meals is because it's in may and it's to accommodate the other foreign nationals as in their words they would eat anything We are actually totally annoyed paying for half board! ( as we didn't fancy what was being served the food was cooked beautifully and the two ladies cooking at night was lovely) breakfast we ate honey and toast for 2 weeks and a glass of juice and when on holiday we like to eat what we want not what wer given. We would stay again as it was a lovely hotel but we wouldn't be going half board
4th time here . I would not go anywhere else if I am in Crete. This hotel is the best hotel in Maila, Family run hotel, who cannot to enough to help you . Rooms are lovely and clean... Food very good at hotel and overall experience is amazing... Looking forward to coming back in September
Rooms were nice, but very cold. Not as far from the city as it looks on maps. Not ideal for a couples getaway. Bartender very keen on serving and talking to male customers, but not the female ones because they “talk too much”. My boyfriend had fun, but I would definitely not come back. Owner however is very sweet.
The owner is so nice and laid back, we had a great time here!
Location wasn’t great.
The staff was very nice. The cleaning lady came almost every day. The bed was very comfortable. 😊
At first there were no cooking stove in the apartment, but we ask for it and they brought it right away. There were no sharp knives, only butter knife i asked for it at the bar and they gave ne one, no problem. The air condition had to be paid in addition 70€ per week - i never saw this anywhere before. Usually is within the price. TV didn't work. Water in the pool was so cold. I missed a broom in the apartment (i got it, because i asked for it) and a drying rack for towels.
very nice ambience and very kind personal ; everything very clean
Tekorte tijd. Helaas ivm privé omstandigheden eerder moeten vertrekken. Gaan zeker terug. 2026 al geboekt.
Very nice hotel with a very good location!
Need a car . Couples in their 50s extremely loud at 2am. Bar staff are very friendly, Breakfast not enough different fruits. Too many chips with the evening meals . A couple of meals were overcooked Hated the bathroom. Plug stuck in basin sink so couldn’t use . Bathroom needs refurbishing. Nothing to cook on. Paid an extra 170 euros for tax, air con late stay, and safe . Taxi was coming at 9 out of the room by 6. Towels are rough. No hand towels.Bathroom could have been cleaner. I wouldn’t come back here.
What an amazing place to holiday. Manos Costa and all the staff are so friendly nothing is to much trouble. A lot of returning guests, you arrive not knowing anybody but leave as friends. Very clean, relaxing pool area comfy sunbeds and plentiful. Food very good price & portions.
Typical basic Greek hotel bedrooms, but they are only to sleep in and get ready in. Manos, works very hard and accommodates everything you require. Rooms cleaned every other day, towels changed. Pool is very nice, sunbeds are quality and comfortable, no problem getting one. Snacks and drinks around the bar are great. 10 minute walk into the old town, 20 minute walk to the strip. Costa is a great barman, very funny and makes you feel very welcome. Overall had a great 2 week stay at the Real Palace, and would return. Weather was fantastic as well.
Had a lovely holiday at the Real Palace. We were family with 2 teenage daughters aged 16 and 14. Pool was lovely nice size and warm. Plenty of sun loungers. Nice walk into the Old Town. Manos was very welcoming when we arrived. His daughter and son were also very friendly. Kostas was so friendly to and chatted to us every evening. Food was freshly prepared every day and was so tasty and healthy. Nice vegetarian choices. I would highly recommend staying.
Very nice and friendly staff, good pool area, clean rooms and nice surroundings. Would like to stay there again.
Plenty of young people, and the nights were very noisy. Kitchen has only fridge and some equipment (not e.g. oven). No window blinds in all rooms, so in the morning it’s really bright in the rooms (could not sleep without a sleep mask).
My friends and I went for five nights with a bed and breakfast deal. It was an amazing hotel for what we paid for. Perfect sized clean pool with plenty of sun chairs/beds to choose from. Good for young people’s holidays at that time. The staff were very polite and spoke good English, they were happy to call reliable taxis for us to and from the strip. Twenty minute walk to the strip and a fifteen minute walk to the town. The breakfast was usually cereal or scrambled egg on toast which was suitable. Good service all day and most of the night from staff. Clean rooms which were spacious enough for four of us in one room. I’d recommend for a girls/boys holiday especially around June and July. Loved it there.
Zeer vriendelijk personeel!
Stayed here for a girls holiday, location was good, around 15 minutes walk to the strip and corner shops near by (around 10 minutes walk) Pool was a good size and plenty of sunbeds to go around. However, if you’re looking for a clean hotel, we found multiple silverfish and when asked to move rooms, we were refused on multiple occasions/ ignored and basically forced to deal with it ourselves/ not much they could do. Upon arrival, there were brown, red, yellow-ish stains on all 3/3 bedsheets and was told “too late” to receive new bedding and had to get on with it. We were promised sheets and towels to be changed every 2 days but found this was often a skipped practice. Though our rooms had a good size balcony with a nice garden view, the room itself there aren’t any toiletries provided at all (just a heads up) the bathroom was usable but was not pleasant- resulting often using the kitchenette sink- same as the dated room. Air conditioning + tax was another further €50 a week per room with no receipt (they could have been making the price up, others paid the same and got late check out included but not all?) and at times AC was faulty e.g. wouldn’t turn on/ off. Breakfast included variety was very limited and rather poor, you’re better off paying extra for food each day by the bar. Avoid if you want a clean stay!
Went with a group of 9 of us aged 19 who stayed for a week. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely man behind the reception who checked us in and we had to pay €50 each, but this included aircon, tourist tax and late check out in 1 room for the day we left. the rooms were spacious and the beds were comfy. the pool is always pretty much empty so you always get a sun lounger or a bed any time of the day. there is so much variety of food, and the carbonara and cheesy garlic bread are amazing with such good portion sizes. the walk to the strip is about 15 minutes but goes quickly, or a taxi is around €15 at night. the staff are all so lovely and helpful and can help with any questions you have. when we left the man on reception kindly gave us a chocolate each too. would definitely stay here again if i came back to malia, would defo recommend for lads/girls holidays, or if you just want a place to rest whilst you explore crete!
Decent rooms but the toilet was horrific mold on shower curtains on the walls shower head was leaking at the side charged 70 euros for aircon and tourist tax don’t recommend
We have just come back from this hotel in Malia and what can I say fab hosts couldn’t do enough for us during our stay there, hotel is clean, tidy, great housekeeping, ate there a few times and food was great and plenty of it. This is a vibe hotel but the youngsters didn’t bother us as we were young once and did the same thing after exams. The old town is quite close with lots of tavernas, two shops near by and just a ten minute walk to the strip with loads of great places to eat and drink especially one pub called Street with great hosts and lovely staff serving you. We will be back and thanks again.
Fantastic people.
Giant parking lot. Building looks nice. Owner is generally kind. We checked TV with its few buttons egg-like remote. You can’t even change the language of the programme, but it didn’t matter since the quality was laughably bad (the brand is F & U, which is amusing in itself).
Upon arrival, 50€ tax?, no receipts, at least we were able to pay with card. First few days were swarmed by hundreds of ants (floor, kitchen top, around bed), that was until i blocked their entrances with dish soap, after that we only got ~5 ants/day. There was no soap in the bathroom, and neither dish soap nor a sponge in the kitchen—we had to buy these ourselves. The kitchen was also poorly equipped, so we purchased an extra bowl. The hot plate made loud popping noises and its plug was badly melted, which was concerning. Although air conditioning and a safe were advertised as included, they cost extra. The AC, for example, cost €70 for 7 days or €140 for 14 days, so we didn’t use either. The beds were uncomfortable - too soft, with hard pillows that caused us neck and back pain. The two single beds were just pushed together, leaving a big gap in the middle. There was only one nightstand and a single, awkwardly placed power outlet. Noise was a major issue: the room had no sound insulation, so we could hear outside conversations and loud noise from the bar below, even late at night. One night, a security guard shouted on the phone for hours. Even with ANC earbuds and music, we struggled to sleep multiple nights. The shower was tiny and poorly designed, flooding the bathroom every time. The toilet leaked, and the bathroom sink plug got stuck after one use. There was no hairdryer (brought our own) or clothes drying rack (yet it was listed), and the only table was bit unstable and outside on the balcony. One balcony door was partly broken (couldn't be tilted), there was no mosquito net, and the extractor fan wasn’t vented outside, it just blew the air into the cupboard above. While the bed, towels, and sheets were clean, we did find various stains. We mainly wanted a place to sleep while exploring the island, but the constant noise made it impossible to get proper rest. *Pub's pool table could have been free for residents...
Can I say Excellent!!!! Manis and his staff was perfect. I got help with whatever I needed and whatever I didn’t understand as an English only speaker, they were quick to translate and explain. This trip was my first time in Europe and I felt very safe as a solo traveler. I slept with my balcony door open because it was so cool and I never needed the a/c. Yes there is a charge for usage but it was not needed during my stay. Breakfast was good with a lot of options. I would recommend a stay here and I will definitely be back next year.
Well, what can I say. We have travelled all over the world and the level of service here is unmatched. This is a true hidden gem. The owners obviously take a lot of pride in maintaining the accommodation and the grounds as everything is immaculate. The food is excellent and the bar is super friendly. We will be back. Jacqueline and Alan
Absolutely lovely place to stay, Manos and Kostas were brilliant and couldn’t do enough for everyone. We ended up eating in the hotel bar most evenings as the weather was rubbish for most of our stay. The food was fab and cooked by a wonderful lady ( I didn’t get her name) The room was perfect for what we needed and kept lovely and clean. We had a corner room and even had 2 balconies! I would definitely recommend Real Palace to anyone if you don’t mind a little 10 minute walk to the shops and tavernas. For our first trip to Crete, staying here has definitely made us want to come back.
Beautiful place, run by beautiful people.
Enjoyed everything.
Great Accomodation, highly recommend
Big free parking, the staff, the whole complex
Toilet too close to the cistern so the seat cover doesn't stay opened. If you are not wearing a shirt it scratches your back.
Always a pleasure staying at Real Palace. Manos and Kosta always at hand with a greeting and a smile. The food is great and always plentiful. The rooms are basic and clean. The pool area is great.
It's always fully booked.
Excellent hotel in a perfect and serene location. It is new and very clean, strong wifi, comfortable beds and hot water! The management is very warm and kind, family run, definitely will be back! The place deserves more than 5 stars!
4th stay always good, amazing staff, spotlessly clean and a friendly atmosphere at the bar where conversation flows at ease and new friends made.
Amazing stay, my room was clean and fresh. Beds and bedding crisp and white. The staff are amazing!!! I’m veggie and every meal time they have gone out of their way to make me something special!!!! I honestly can’t fault this place. The pool has ample sun beds and big loungers which have never been held by towels!! Few things to note they do smoke in the bar but that has not bothered me and I’m a non smoker? There is no soap in rooms so remember to bring your own for handwashing etc the rooms have a lovely large balcony with table and seating a lot bigger than most places I have stayed. It does feel a bit out of the way in the hills with olive groves as you walk to the property but I feel that adds to the charm of the place. The grounds are kept immaculate and guests all speak to each other. I will deffo return. Thank you Real Palace
Overall, the place was nice. It was comfortable, the rooms were fairly big, and the pool area was very relaxing. The booking did mention air conditioning, but because it was the off-season, we were not given the controller, even though it got a little warm in the night. They also do not provide any hand soap, which was a little inconvenient. All-in-all, it was a good stay, though. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The room wasn’t as clean , the showers were a bit messy. Beds were separated and all in single format, we had to go up 3 flight of stairs!! Overall we enjoyed our stay and helpful staff.
Proper sound guys behind the bar, strong drinks, the food was absolutely different class, the pool was lovely and the rooms were clean and spacious and the pool area and greens were smart
My only complaint while being there would be the AC being pretty poor but apart from that loved it
A very enjoyable stay. Wonderful staff.
Nice room, comfortable beds, nice balcony, perfect surrounding place with big gardens with grass (plus for kids to play) and generally quiet place.
Everything was nice - the only thing to suggest is to offer hand soap
A lovely property with friendly staff. The owner is a very nice man, very helpful and pleasant
Tres bien. Personnel attentionné et competent. Espace piscine super.
Self catering facilities need to be improved. We had no cooking utensils. Short on plates and bowls. No toaster
Perfect location for us, quiet but a sort distance away from the bustle of Malia and a walk from Potamos Beach. The restaurant was good and the traditional Greek dishes very good indeed. Manos and his staff were very welcoming and ensured we had a good stay. Great value for money and we will certainly be coming back.
Perhaps a few more utensils in the kitchen area and toiletries in the bathroom would have been good but generally nothing to complain about
Solo travelling woman - I felt safe, the property was clean and had all your basic needs. The staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful and kind. The beach is about 20 mins walk (max) and the old town Malia and the archeological site of the palace of mailia is not far either. I would happily stay here again! Thank you for my stay!
This place is truly wonderful. Manos greets everyone personally. He escorts you to your room, irrespective of the day or time of night. What a gentleman. Our room? Self catering? Give me a toaster and I’ll love you. Absolutely wonderful. Clean, fresh. Our young cleaning lady was incredibly nice. Costa! Top bloke
Spacious, comfortable, quiet
Barman was a great guy, really made our stay nice
breakfasts, price/quallity ratio was really low
Located in old town Malia, although quiet area is great for families, couples and singles. The staff are very friendly, made us feel very welcome. Super markets close by also a 5 minutes walk from Happy Days apartments. I would highly recommend and I will definitely book again. Keep up the good work to all staff at Real Palace.
Excellent hotel Great location The best choice for holidays The staff is very friendly and helpful The pool and the bar are great as well
Real palace is definitely a five stars hotel Our holidays was great The staff members were excellent The owner was really helpful and the location is great near old town and potamos beach as well
My time at Real palace was great Clean room and unbelievable view from my balcony There is also a free parking and great staff all of them were really helpful The food was really nice as well and cheap as well
Overall the hotel and staff are nice! Food vile Cats all over kitchen side, Cats wrapped around your feet whilst trying to eat, biting and scratching them selfs at your feet doesn’t isn’t nice! The prices are a bit steep to not be able to eat due to cats. Each cat is pregnant so u can only imagine what it’s going to be like in a few weeks when the kittens have been born and roaming around. Not happy with the holiday, been coming here for the last 4 years. And my god it’s gone down hill. I will never bring any friends or family here again,
Breakfast disgusting also leftover food used from self catering apartments . Had to ask for bedding to be changed this was day 9 never got changed again. Room not cleaned the whole 2 weeks. Towels changed twice in 2 weeks. People smoking anywhere in dining room also cats on the dining table. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone , worst we have ever stayed in !
Very good facilities for the price we have paid
The lack of some room's amenities such as hairdryer, shoes' brush, soap and shampoo in the bathroom
After 5 years we came back to Real Palace. The staff is still very friendly and the place looks great.
Unfortunately I have to be honest to mention that the rooms are a bit outdated. Bathroom is rather old, kitchen isn't well provided and poor. There's no curtain in front of the door what means the room is lighten up at early morning and the room wasn't cleaned during our one week stay.
Manos and his staff are very friendly! We came back after 5 years to stay again at Real Palace.
Bathrooms need to be upgraded. But mostly the kitchen is very poor provided.
The hotel is located outside of central Malia, which is harder to access by foot if you have luggage. It's walkable and the views are splendid. The air is pure as there are many olive farms surrounding the property. It's also very breazy and It's good value for money. The only annoyance was that they demand a supplement for the aircon of 10 Euros per day, which according to Experia is included in the stay. For the 2 night stay, I wasn't going to protest. Otherwise it's a good budget stay. I would recommend this property for short stays.
