We had a great stay at the Old Oak. The room was huge and comfortable, and we received a lovely welcome from the staff. The food was excellent as well. Many thanks

Beautiful furniture made of oak. Very kind and helpful staff. Exceptional full English breakfast. Ideal for dogs as next to the Swale way so you can walk into Thirsk mainly along the river.
Room was really nice. Shower was great and all very clean. Breakfast not the best I’ve had
Just breakfast, the egg and salmon was excellent. My English breakfast egg was over cooked and mushroom weren’t cooked. Cheap bread
Room was excellent, clean and functional. Staff friendly. Meals good. So overall a good stay.
Refreshingly varied evening menu with a wide choice of speciality dishes as well as traditional pub favourites, good portions too. Also great was the 'proper' northern Theakstons bitter. Beautifully pulled and a real treat. Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious Cabin room was great, very spacious, comfy bed and a lovely shower

Service with a smile and great food

Excellent location near A19 and A1. The quiet village location and parking are good. The staff are very pleasant and have a ‘can do attitude’ with a smile. The food served is very tasty. I would definitely stay again.
All good.

The room was away from the main pub and so was very quiet. There was tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and water in the room, which were replenished, as well as a reasonably sized fridge, which was very useful in the hot weather, and for the items we were taking to a barbeque we were attending on the first evening. The room was comfortable and clean, and there was complimentary shower gel/shampoo. There was also a sofa in the room. The owners were friendly and helpful, and were more than apologetic when the hair dryer broke, providing a new one. We wished that we could have tried the delicious looking food that they served, but this was not an option for us as we were attending a wedding and didn't need food. The Yorkshire breakfast was excellent, with good quality ingredients.
Although a good powerful shower. After we had both had showers the bathroom was very steamy and the fan struggled to remove it, a small detail, but it was hot weather and it also made the room warmer. This would not stop us from going to this hotel again. The pub closed early, so we couldn't get a drink after 10pm. Overall the stay was excellent and we had very little to complain about.
Stsff, room , atmosphere. Great wee visit.
Very good breakfast. Good choice available for breakfast and flexibility. Location for the break was fine. Bedrooms were lovely, spacious and modern.
Not sure really. There wasn't anything I didn't like.

Cleanliness, hospitality, food choices and room equipment
Had a comfortable stay at the Old Oak Tree. Had an evening meal and breakfast there, both of which were excellent. Staff were great and very friendly. Room was a good size, it was a little hot due to the weather but air conditioning was available. Would stay again.
Lovely modern rooms in a separate block from the pub. Excellent food. Plenty of parking. Decent selection of ales Restaurant was well used by locals. 20 minute walk into Thirsk Nice big garden Camper vans by arrangement too
Sound proofing could have been better
Thank you for providing vegan options
This is a popular pub, with very good cooking, in an attractive village. It is family run and as a result the staff are excellent - just right! The room was spacious and had everything we needed. Everything worked, the check-in and check-out arrangements were practical and, in short, we would be happy to return.
Nothing to report here.
Everything, the room, the staff, the breakfast was a lovely choice and we ate there both evenings with there being a lovely menu and the meal's were lovely. We also walked into thirsk which saved taking the car out.
Absolutely nothing to not like.
Great location. Easy to get to thirsk town. 25 min walk or 5 min in car. Lovely seating area outside. And lovely stream at bottom of pub u can walk to thirsk by. Lovely breakfast and staff. Easy parking. Great choices for lunch and dinner.
Nothing
Top class accommodation and the food in the pub was amazing. Couldn't fault a thing. We look forward to returning .
Nothing
Very clean good location & friendly staff
Amenity of room, service from staff and proximity to our event, option for air conditioning in hot weather, breakfast
The only downside was a smell coming from the shower room drain
Lots to like here. Staff friendliness, quality of food, condition of room, size of room. Location was very good, on the main road, but could barely hear the traffic noise. There was alsoa a lovely walk alongside the river at the bottom of the garden.
As a pub, I expected it to be open before 5pm. A weary traveller would be disappointed if they were wanting a drink upon arrival. What really got my goat was being charged an extra £5 for air conditioning. On a day of 30+ degrees, you simply cannot sleep in a room without AC, especially in a room with one window. If you left the window open, you would be kept awake by pub leavers and traffic. Felt really sneaky to have that extra charge. But the AC was very effective!
Good location, fabulous food and great staff
Bed was a bit lumpy and hard for me, unfortunately. For that reason, I would not stay again until the mattress was replaced or a topper added.
Clean and comfortable. Lovely pub. Food excellent. Breakfast was cooked and served by a lovely lady called Nette. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time. Really nice garden. Can highly recommend this pub for staying in and eating.
Nothing to dislike about this pub.
The staff were friendly and helpful
The accommodation is not in the main building but is set in an annexe next to the main road and adjacent to the car park
Good location food and accommodation were excellent
Really excellent accommodation and extensive menu options in restaurant

The staff were welcoming and very friendly, the room was lovely, the food was great, big selection and very dog friendly 😀

Clean & Comfortable
Being charged extra for use of air conditioning. Being charged for breakfast when my booking online stated it was included in the price.
The old oak tree was a lovely place to stay. The room was great and we had air conditioning which was wonderful in the heat so we had a good nights sleep. The food in the restaurant was very good with plenty of choice and good quality
Nothing
Good sized room and bathroom, comfortable bed with tea/coffee making facilities.
It was very hot and they charge extra for the aircon unit (?), and no fan in the room either.
Clean, quiet, nice location, good walk into Thirsk.good breakfast.
Northing.
Nice staff.
Only had dinner and breakfast, both were good. The room was clean and comfortable. On site parking a great bonus
Without nitpicking there was nothing to dislike

Everything about are stay was more than we expected. Very generous portions with breakfast (included in price) and also evening meals we purchased. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff, who were always very helpful and pleasant.
Cannot fault this accommodation at all.
Very spacious rooms, all on ground floor level. Good location. Great breakfast choices.
Everything was perfect, room was spacious & really nice. Breakfast excellent, ate in the restaurant one night & the food was delicious.

Lovely garden, just 7/8 minutes from Thirsk racecourse which was the reason for a overnight stay Great breakfast included
Nothing to complain about
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The room was comfortable, the food, breakfast & evening meal was very good and the staff were lovely. Will certainly stay again when in Thirsk.
We liked everything.
Great location for us to stop half way through our journey. Ideal stay with dogs, lovely grounds leading down to the river. Ground floor chalet rooms which were wonderful very comfortable bed. Food excellent and the staff so friendly and very helpful. Would highly recommend this place to friends and family.
Nothing not to like
The room and service was first class. All amenities in the room were provided with professional thought
A little noisy from the main road in the early morning. Also although breakfast was part of the deal the kitchen did not open on a weekend until 8am and as I had to leave by then I could not enjoy breakfast before leaving.
Nice comfortable rooms. Staff.

From arriving and obtaining our key, the room was excellent with everything needed, meal booked for the evening which when ordered was quick service large portions, fantastic service and great price. Breakfast was also great with juice, cereals and cooked breakfast. Would recommend the Old Oak Tree to anyone.
Nothing everything was great
Easy parking, lovely clean modern room.A good hearty breakfast.
The welcome on arrival⅕
The room was very spacious and the bonus of a fridge and kettle which was perfect for us to store our drinks. The furniture was lovely, bed comfortable and staff very friendly. A real bonus was the lovely pub garden which we enjoyed in the sun!
Nothing, it was all great
The room was ground floor & did have a walk-in shower. The pub was nice & very busy but they really needed extra wait staff. I asked (twice) for a btl cold water ,& 3 times for a wine list.
When we arrived at 4pm it was closed so we had to go away until it opened at 5pm. That should be stated in the booking. Having to pay extra for the air cond. The bed was dreadful, you could feel the steel rim around it. The room was advertised as a King double with bath. I had wrongly assumed that meant a King sized bed but it didn't & there was no bath (not that we wanted one) it made me think we were given the wrong room & it overlooked the carpark. We had dinner there too. Service was very slow tho they were busy. But the meals were sub-par. My duck pancakes were dry meat which you had to put on y "pancakes" which was a spring roll wrapper. Temperature of the entree could be better. Breakfast was OK but, again, obviously partly pre-cooked as it wasn't really hot. The coffee was warm but tasteless (might have even been instant).
Very clean close to amenities friendly & helpful staff
Location friendly staff lovely food.
No hanger for your jackets
Very comfortable and spacious room . Rooms all in a ground floor building which had been tastefully decorated and furnished. Food in evening and breakfast very tasty. Service was great.
Check in show as being from midday. However on checking in just before 3pm the pub shut so had to wait for it to reopen at 5p for any service.
The breakfast was lovely, service was excellent, accommodation was lovely, the only thing was being in room 5 the road was a bit noisy, next time we come we will just book another room, other than the noise of the road everything was spot on, thank you.
Lovely room with good facilities Staff very friendly and ideal location for what we wanted
Very helpful staff nice & clean & excellant cooked breakfast
Very modern and spacious enough for 2 adults
The accommodation was by a main road and lorry’s passing by through the night kept me awake
Splendid welcome - spacious well-appointed accommodation in ground level rooms - excellent breakfast and dinner facilities in the restaurant with wide ranging menu. Thoroughly recommended.
Not a lot !
Room was large and homely. The food was very good both for breakfast and we had evening meal. Would stay here again next time we visit friends
Easy to find and park, pretty pub with garden and terrace, lodges in the garden make charming bedrooms, clean comfortable quiet room, lovely staff, good food.
Nothing
I enjoyed the evening meal, the drink beforehand in the bar, and breakfast. The service was excellent and everyone there was welcoming. The room was also exactly what I wanted.
Comfortable bed. Good food.
Incredible value for money. Great pub and little hotel. Perfect as always.
Beautiful rooms, excellent breakfast.
Lovely room, food great evening meal and breakfast
Rooms very warm, did have the option of air con but didn't seem worth it for one night
Nice room. Good location. Great food!
Rooms were separate from building and looked brand new builds. Bed was comfy, room was clean and well presented. Main meal and breakfast was very good.
Air conditioning was available for an extra £5 per night which I felt was a bit “Ryanair” we didn’t need it but I would imagine the rooms will need it in hot weather. I do appreciate that it’s a sign of the times though with energy costs. Nothing the business can do, but the rooms are on a very busy road and Lorry’s were thundering past all night so quite noisy.
Pleasant friendly staff, good evening meal and breakfast comfy room some road noise but didn't bother us
The dinner and the breakfast the next day was exceptional. The possibility of taking the dog for a walk was very convenient as well.
There is nothing that we think could be improved upon.
Our room was much larger than expected, as was the shower. We really enjoyed the food , both breakfast and dinner, and all the staff were very friendly.
The only thing we noticed was some road noise, but this did not spoil our stay at all.
Excellent location only a 20 minute walk to Thirsk
Nothing, great value
