Staffs are very helpful and understand customers

Breakfast ok rest other amenities very bad.

We liked the property cause it was near to the city center and we had the option transport free form the airport to the hotel

One thing that can be adjusted is the cleanliness of the room

Breakfast is very basic. Needs to be upgraded. If you stay for night its ok but more nights ..then you can get bored with the breakfast Curry for breakfast not our favorite

I asked staff to change my room they didn't replace my room. I paid LKR 12,000.00 AND what I paid it's not worth it. Breakfast is kind of okay 👍.

Food is so delicious and chefs are always friendly and helpful to us

Receptionists are so much kind and caring. All staff are very kind and supportive. They always make us feel special

I felt a bit uncomfortable on the first day and on another day at the main restaurant. I saw lots of small ants running on the fresh fruit bowl. And the hotel WIFI worked only 2 days. The reception staffs help to solve it. They did solved it but on the very next day same issue poped up. I raised my concerns to reception but this time it was not solved. And during the first ocassion my son received a message saying to pay some lanka rupees 2000 for WIFI usage. We showed it the reception and they also got surprised. And told its a mistske. So the last 3 days of my stay at the hotel, we were using over mobile data.

The staff were wonderful and helpful, breakfast was great and the chef was very attentive and concern we have a great stay. The pool was very refreshing and large, the water was perfect temp. Front desk lady was very friendly and helpful. We left at 5am to catch train, the chef packed us a lunch for the trip Try Cafe 97 on the same street…excellent food great selections

It was a 20 min tuk tuk ride to all the attractions..a bit removed…the building is older and rooms could be upgraded.. We arrived at 2am and they were not ready for us and the room had no towels, soap or blankets on the bed…got straightened out the next day. They need a night clerk on duty, only security guards on the premises at night.

i visit this hotel every now and then and its a nice place all together. since lately the management has taken over new consultants and a Chef who is spoiling the atmosphere. On a cost effective note the new chef seems to be displaying and serving stale old food from previous days cooking at the buffets specially the morning breakfast. i heard from internal sources of the kitchen that this new chef collects the previous days left over food and mixes it with his bare hands and then stores it in bowls in refrigeration and then heats it the next day and serves it to the guests as a buffet spread. This is bad and i ended up with severe tummy pains on several days during my stays Be careful of the food. The chef is a sweet talker.

Upon arrival, the receptionist was very helpful and pleasant. The staff working at the JANAKI are respectful and happy people, creating a positive environment with their guests. The hotel bar serves lion lager and their range of products in the bar fridge, so plenty to choose from. The breakfast was very tasty, a fish curry, veg fried rice, lentil dhal, potato curry, coconut sambo and variety of pastries were well-cooked, delicately spiced and palatable to metabolise in the morning. The staff were very kind and accommodating. The chef welcomes his guests and is proud to show you his home-cooked delicacies. Overall very happy with our stay at the JANAKI. Thanks JANAKI!

Washroom are not much clean. Reception promised to arrange Breakfast packet early in morning before checkout, but refused to provide later. Need to improve hospitality

I liked the location and the very nice manager and staff. Breakfast was basic but was okay for the price. Rooms have no WiFi at all and rooms and bathrooms need refurbishing. They were generous with tea, coffee and bottles of water supplied in the room. If they refurbish and modernise the hotel, it will turn out to be very nice considering the location. However it is good value for money.

Floorcoverings are dilapidated, and in the bathroom grout between tiles are mouldy. they also should improve the bed linnen. the good manager, friendly staff and the good location compensates for the drawbacks.

Hotel location is best and staff is also very good but hotel needs renovation. Room size is really very nice.

I was impressed by all of the staff within the hotel, even when i asked if they could organize hiring a vehicle for the evening they were able to arrange everything... and have to mention about room, it was clean & nice place to have a comfort sleep. arranged everything as per our requirements.

The location was perfect, and I truly enjoyed the calm and safe environment it provided. It made my trip much more enjoyable.

Firstly, I noticed that there was a charge for early check-in, which I found a bit surprising. Typically, I have encountered properties that offer this service complimentary based on availability. Additionally, I was disappointed to find that there were no tour or recreation facilities available during my stay. It would have been helpful if there were contacts for nearby tour providers provided as well, as I was looking to explore the area but had no means to arrange this.

Really easy to book. Beautiful room, comfortable bed, delicious breakfast, and very helpful staff. They were expecting us on arrival, and provided advice on best places to change money, and invaluable transport advice. best example of hospitality.

The breakfast was superb.

There was no one at the reception most of the time. No blankets, the appearance was not inviting. Although the pictures on internet was good but the real statis was not nice.

Such a peaceful place. We stayed just one night and wish we stayed more. The pool was the perfect temperature. Super calm and peaceful. had a dinner once and the food was also good.

Very clean, great kitchen facilities, wifi and hot water. Good view from balcony. Staff very helpful. manager was super nice and helped us organising our days in colombo.

Host is very responsive, caring as well as service oriented. Breakfast and dinner was good. Helped arrange a driver to hike World's End, packed us a lunch to go and had tea and coffee. Lovely area

FAWLTY TOWERS Hotel janaki The only positive is the Big rooms Very fawtly towers. Place is falling apart and incredibly dated. 9 out of 10 times the room service will arrive late or for the entirely wrong item, or they will forget a pen for you to sign for it. Rooms are incredibly dated and dirty , and this is not reflected at all in their price which is high for what you get. The pool is very unappealing. No sun loungers around r the pool. No plants. No umbrellas. It also looked dirty. I booked because they have bathtubs. But they don’t have enough hot water to fill the bathtub! So it’s a total wasted facility!! Menu is very poor. Only offering small selection of very spicy food. The quality of a lot of the hotels are like this. Very poor and high priced , very similar to India . And is awful when you compare the quality and price with countries like Thailand and Indonesia.

The room I got in very poor condition, it was my second time in this hotel. Very unstable WIFI system, bathroom is dirty, water in the toilet didn't work, curtain dirty, bed sheets & pillow cases not up to standard. Although staff is ok, friendly. I should say, breakfast is ok to Sri Lankan standard, no fruits was available. On my last day breakfast, I got little bit of fruits. I don't recommend this hotel to any one for their stay

We used it for overnight stopover. It was convenient, staff were friendly and very accommodating i.e. opened the pool after arriving late and hot. Went to the bar for a few beers and a bite to eat, met a few locals who I presumed used the bar regularly who were very welcoming and they had a sing song which was very entertaining. Was clean and breakfast was decent, overall good value for money

Bathroom dated. Kettle and cups present but no tea or coffee included. Perhaps an oversight

This is our second booking with the same hotel and they give us a Big and clean room with a big bathroom, fast check in more than the first time and they have a good staff with quick landry service on same day

Very limited options in the breakfast, we had booked with this hotel for 6 nights with different dates and only one time we had breakfast because they do not have good options and they informed us that every day it’s the same breakfast due to this we ignored to have breakfast at the hotel.

Nice property! Good and affordable

Big and clean rooms, good and prompt service, easy to for uber taxis and tuk tuks to reach the location, within a radius of 15 mins of most of the tourist locations. They have a luggage room without additional charge. We kept our luggage with them for 4 days and upon return it was as it is. The morning receptionist is very helpful and kind. They always gave us the wake up call as requested. Due to these reasons we booked here again for our last night at Colombo. Their laundry service is very good and return back your clothes the same evening after washing and ironing.

The check in process on our first day took over an hour as they had an issue with their key card. Once we checked in, the room had not been prepared, the room was very warm as if the ac had not been switched on for a long time, the floor and floor lobby was in complete darkness, we had to ask the guy to switch on the lights, no blankets and towels and had to ask for them. Only hand soap provided in the washroom (no shower gel and shampoo), had to ask for coffee and tea which was supposed to be provided in the room. We had booked with breakfast and had requested for breakfast to be sent to our room to which the receptionist declined saying that it is against the policy of the hotel to send breakfast to the room. The next morning, we went down for breakfast and it had very limited options. It’s 45 mins away from the airport so need to check out earlier to make sure to reach the airport on time.

The food. Everything was delicious.

The host was great, he didn't even ask for anything and drove us everywhere, he wanted us to experience the best for the short amount of time that we were staying there. The location is in the city around with an amazing surrounding, and the main street relatively fast. All the tourism objects were nearby, we could access everything easily. best one.

We liked our big room which has two big windows with a view of the garden and a wonderful bathroom with an authentic design. The staff was really polite and helpful. Breakfast is really large and tasty. rarely found this.

Need some renovations with face lifting

This place has a lot to improve on, although the staff is very friendly. The restaurant needs to have the items available on the menu. When a guest sits for dinner, he/she should not be told that some major items are not available! Whatever the food that was available was quite tasty and the cooks must be commended. They would not serve a pot of tea on room service! Early morning, there was no chance of having tea in the room. Rooms are very spacious but the bed is not good. A new plush mattress will be great to have. Bathrooms were in very poor condition with mould growing in multiple places. Bathtub was chipped and the metal underneath was showing! Very limited linen was provided- just 2 bath towels only. There was no hot water in the shower. The windows in the room could not be locked-lucky I was on the 2nd floor! The interior must be re-done with decent furniture as the cushions are flat! Public areas get dunked when it rains. Every morning the staff has to mop and get rid of a river of water in the center area. At the front, there is some cement barrier that needs to be removed. It is a major obstacle for cars entering the property. There is ample parking opposite the property.
