Gales Of Llangollen

A very lovely old hotel. Very little in the way of modern conveniences and no breakfast included in room price but staff were very pleasant and attended to issues as raised. Good food served in the attached wine bar. A very pleasant overnight stay

There were a few maintenance issues with my room which I pointed out to a staff member in the wine bar over dinner. She looked into them but was not able to rectify any of them. That said, none of them were life changing (dead lightbulbs etc). There are a lot of stairs and no lifts - it's an old building so if accessibility is a thing for you this place is probably not the place for you. After the lovely dinner, and for the price, would have appreciated breakfast in the morning.

The wine bar. Was busy due to music outside. The lovely dogs, children, good place if you like loud music.

Unavailable to shut windows, shower hard to get in due to large step. Lots of noise after music finished. No reception to be see asked then took in wine bar No breakfast, stated optio. Of in your room don't do every more, had to go up town paidout £27 per mornings which makes your stay more expensive, wasnt told when we booked.booked

Location is fab and if you get there early enough there is a car park at rear with limited spaces.

Smallest double ive ever stayed in. 3 coat hangers on coat hooks so if coats wet nowhere else to put them apart from with clothes hanging up. Needs a good hoovering and dusting. Water from shower soaks floor as no seal on bottom of shower screen. Ill fitting blinds in bed and bathrooms so light let in from early morning. No actual hotel staff available, just bar staff once bar had opened. If this was on 4 in a bed I would only pay half.

Excellent location and the outside area is amazing for both food, drinks and entertainment. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, and the bar area is perfect. Our room was lovely and big, with everything we needed.

Very noisy. Difficult to park with only 4 places in small courtyard. No breakfast available. Poor maintenance of room - bathroom door didn't close, lamp shade hanging off wall. No plugs near bed. No wardrobe. Dirty carpet. Fittings needed mending.

Location was excellent and being honest the staff were exceptional

Great location Friendly staff Bar downstairs had a great buzz to it, more of a standard bar than a typical wine bar though.

The bathroom door didn’t close so there was a gap and no privacy at all. There was also an awful smell in the bathroom like a blocked drain. Light fixtures had missing bulbs and were falling off the wall. We expected dated property, but still expected facilities to be working and up to a basic standard

breakfast with the the stay would have been better it wern t untill we got back and did some research that gales was once Ty coch was a fish and chip restaurant owned by relatives of my late grandmother so yes will stay again but with breakfast

The room was clean bed and pipes very comfortable the only disappointment was the tap in the bathroom was dripping all night and difficult to turn off

Bed was extremely comfortable and yea and coffee well stocked

Character, close to everything in beautiful holiday town.

Having to leave. They let us stay a 3rd night at short notice which was great, only wish could have stayed longer.

Pillows we're very big so gave us neck ache..it would be a good idea if there were a choice of pillow like some hotels

Perfect location in the middle of town for walking to the railway line, the bridge, the canal. Comfortable room. No real issues. A nice member of staff moved to give us the last of 6 parking spaces which was super-convenient, but it would have been a bit of pain to have found an alternative at night if there hadn't been a space. They have live music there at weekends which is nice. It's fairly loud in the room but they finish at a reasonable time and after that it's quiet for a good night's sleep.

Didn't end up staying there it was really dirty wasn't offered a refund pubic hair in bathroom advertised free parking no parking spaces the owner was very rude towards me I would not recommend this hotel to any one very unhappy I feel I should be offered a refund

Location and small car park we're brilliant. We were lucky to be able to early check in after a long drive for a wedding. Really appreciated that. Room was lovely.

Lovely room, very spacious, cool in the hot temperatures. The staff were lovely and the evening meal was very tasty

Both the jacuzzi bath and the shower in the room seemed to only be able to give hot water for a minute and then went freezing. Luckily it was very warm outside but I can imagine this could be problematic in winter

Rooms were nice and the bar and outside area was excellent.

The property was in a good location in the town and looked lovely from the outside.

The clutter in the approach to the stairs when carrying bags. The room was spacious and clean but hot on the top floor with no fan available. The shower was good but the water soon reached the top of the tray as the drainage was very slow. I was very disappointed as it was looking a bit tired generally from what I remember some years ago. In the morning there was no sign of any staff although we looked everywhere for one. Breakfast was not available we had been told the night before which would have been nice to have known before we arrived.

It was very hot, a fan in the room would have been welcome. Clearer signage about door to go into. As the main door was open due to heat the access pad was not seen. Just need a sign. Would book again

Very nice room. Lovely comfy beds and good linen. Nice decor and good tea & coffee making facilitates in room.

A few customer facing areas were a bit shabby and the bottom of the stairs was a storage area, not ideal.

Tv in the room didn’t work, switched on but no channels worked. Bit expensive for what it was, at a cheaper price I’d give it more points but it needs a bit of tlc for that price

Easy check in .First floor double room. Lovely and clean.they put fans in as hot weather.comfy bes and pillows .overall great room.the staff in the bar were excellent especially Bronwen the Bar manager she is a star and was very kind to Mt husband and I.

They don't serve breakfast but there is a pop up called the little pickle which serves coffee and a few breakfast items.

The hotel is no longer painted white, and does not have a name sign. We went past it twice as it’s called Gales wine bar, not Gales of Llangollen. The car park was not signposted at all, the sign actually daud it was the Pickle cafe. Once we eventually parked the car we could not find any staff, not a soul. We wandered around for about 10 minutes. The young lady from the Pickle cafe really helped us. Eventually we found two young ladies, who told us our room wasn’t ready but if we came back at 2pm our bags would be put in our room. We agreed and left our luggage, however on our return it was still in the corridor where we put it! We didn’t see anybody at all, our room door was just left unlocked. We didn’t check out as again nobody was there. Rooms were clean but very shabby, the lights didn’t work and one was hanging off the wall. The bathroom door didn’t even shut properly.

Fabulous location right in easy reach if allbtge amenities. Bronwyn ( the Manager) was so helpful and friendly. All the staff at The Pickle where we had our breakfast were so helpful, Bethan and the team were fab! Bronwyn went the extra mile to help us, she even moved her own car to accomodate ours, as we were there to attend the David Gray Concert and used The Gales Car Park

It wasn’t very clean, no shower gel, the bed was creaky as soon as you sat on it, very warm at night, so didn’t get much sleep with the heat and mattress not being great

Location and parking

Beds were extremely comfortable, having somewhere outside to have a cigarette with morning coffee was lovely, great central location, characterful building, good value for money.

The tap on the shower was a little stiff and hard to turn on and off. Overall though this hardly mattered.

Gales is a good place to stay in Llangollen, food is good, room was lovely, the staff are friendly and helpful. The wine bar has a great atmosphere, great location and parking is a bonus. We’ve stayed at Gales three times now and have enjoyed our break there, thanks.

The accommodation was booked as having breakfast included. The catering had been taken over by an external company 3 weeks before and as a result we were charged £23 per day for breakfast. They said that Booking.com should have advised us of this and refunded the breakfast amount to us. I can't see any transaction which would show a refund of any type. The accommodation itself is difficult to find as they have no signs on the outside of the building saying Gales of Llangollen, we had to call them and a friendly member of staff flagged us down as we passed for a third time. I really don't like to complain but felt it unfair to future Booking.com visitors if they are expecting to get a complimentary breakfast.

Quaint, rustic but very clean, beds were soft with a selection of pillows, staff were fabulous and little pickles breakfast was amazing.

The room was centrally located in Llangollen, near the bridge. It was very well maintained, clean and comfortable. This is an old building and the decor reflected this, with appropriate use of recycled furniture and fittings. Car parking was available although quite cramped.

The room was situated over a wine bar so inevitably there were some noises off until closing time. It was very quiet overnight, however. Breakfast (separately chargeable although guests got a discount) was provided in an outdoor covered area by a separate business. It consisted of a "breakfast bagel" in a take out tray - nice enough but not quite the full English/Welsh.

Well sited for town. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Bathroom excellent woth bath and shower. Really comfortable bed.

Evening food was disappointing but only had 1 evening meal. Excellent breakfast. Car parking was tight and limited but able to park in nearby street- might be more of a problem in high season.

The location is good, the room is clean.

As it is on the Main Street, so it is a bit noisy.

It didn't affect my stay but others might want to know that it is central and the windows are thin so you can hear late night revellers. As I say I expected it and didn't affect my rating

Close to town, restaurants and walks. The breakfast was excellent.

Room was very creaky, floorboards and bed. No hangers in the wardrobe. Also very noisy from music bar outside on the Friday night and revellers on the street.

The accommodation is well situated. It's really nice having a wine bar downstairs! The room was clean and had everything you would expect.

The parking was difficult. Although the parking is in short supply all round llangollen.

Have stayed here before this time had a completley different experince . Room was poor hot water was a tricle that took ages , the bed was awful and not comfortable at all , there were tiles off in the bathroom , electrics such as lazy betty held on with a brace . I gave never given a bad review before but my partner and i agreed that it was the worst night we have spent in a hotel , the room was number 5 .

Lovely staff, very happy to help. Room was comfortable and functional.

A little bit tired and basic. That was fine for us - we just needed a bed before a race - but probably not somewhere we’d choose for a holiday visit. Very fair for the price, though.

It needs to be clear if Breakfast is included. Our booking said it was, until we got a message about vouchers, we never got the vouchers and in the end when we asked after the breakfast it turned out we only got a £12 discount, even when we pointed out that the booking and message where confusing and contradicting.

Beliggenheden er perfekt! Og vi var heldige at få en parkeringsplads i gården. God seng, godt tryk i bruseren, hyggeligt værelse.

Lidt fugtskader på væggene. Tæppet var beskidt eller også trængte det til at blive skiftet ud. Man får 6£ til morgenmaden, hvilket vil sige at “hele morgenmaden” ikke er inkl i opholdet.

4th time staying and I’ll be back. Character of the place, food and good vibe. I stayed when it was talent night so nice to experience.

It was in the centre of the village

We requested 3 times to have our rooms next to each other. We had 2 children with us and needed rooms close which we were told would be fine. On arrival we were on 2 separate floors so could use one room . We all had to sleep in the one room. We are unsure why we were made to book to rooms on booking.com as we were happy to share a family room with 4 beds but this was not an option. We mentioned this to staff the next day and we had our breakfast refunded and offered a possible refund of the 2nd room which we never received.

Again an excellent overnight stay. Fantastic location with parking. Our go-to gaff for an overnight in Llangollen.

Location was great and enjoyed the food and music

The room was way too hot as the window couldn’t open properly, and when we requested a fan bone was available so its was pretty uncomfortable for three warm nights. I was also surprised not to have any wardrobe space.
