Mooi hotel, gedateerd. Goede locatie.
Very clean, excellent staff, great town location.
Everything
No spare toilet roll in the room. Electrics could have been better. It was in need of updating. I was for asked for payment but had already paid. On the way up the stairs there was a door very close to the steps where you had to stand on the stairs to pull it towards you to open it. Very unsafe.
Absolutely nothing
It was shabby and dirty
Dirty and was placed on the top floor with no help to carry heavy bags… made to pay £8 a night for parking in the hotel car park with zero advance warning about the parking charges. It felt like there was no consideration about customer care and satisfaction
Dirty
Lovely room, overlooking the river. Great location Easy check in. Pleasant staff
Everything was good
The hotel was very dated with dirty carpets and staff were not that helpful.
The Hotel generally
Absolutely nothing
Appearance, bad odour everywhere , Dusty everywhere, windows dirty, carpet needs changing, whole place could do with a complete overhaul….painting badly needed. Shower was dreadful….no pressure
Location good for concert venue
Small outdated room, very old Tv that didn’t work, along with the hairdryer. Food was awful and very overpriced.
Excellent location, pleasant staff, comfy beds
Bathroom really old, non adjustable shower height/ angle, dirty sealant round bath. Wobbly fixture on wall for toilet paper, not enough room to hang wet towels when 2 have used shower.
Breakfast was good
Rooms a bit bigger
The staff were lovely and I can't fault them
The carpet in the room I stook to it when I took my shoes off to take a shower after that happened I then couldn't bring my self to use the bathroom 😭
Pleasant hotel a bit dated but good value overall. Room a bit tired but good and shower very poor hardly any pressure. Food adequate. Well situated in a lovely area. Car parking is charged though even for guests
Breakfast poor To many Stairs
The room was comfortable, staff were welcoming and helpful and the evening meal was of a good standard.
We managed to find a parking space but we wondered how we would have managed if we had arrived at a busier time. The fee of £8.00 seemed a bit high especially if staying longer than one night.
Breakfast was great
The mattress was not comfortable and it dipped in the middle Tv remote did not work
Great location, within the beautiful Llangollen.
The hotel is very dated. Our room was shabby, with wallpaper peeling off in one area. Live music on the Saturday was a little disruptive, as were the early morning (0650 am deliveries) below our window. We chose not to eat there. Parking is charged at £8.00 for 24 hours.
Location is perfect as is the decking area
Prices risen considerably and charged for parking as booked on booking.com. toilet flush was terrible.
Over priced rooms and food. Poor value for money.
Most of it.
Loved that it was in the centre of town and our room was very peaceful despite a wedding happening in the hotel
Very dated with paint peeling in places
Lovely central Location. Beautiful outdoor bar/ seating area, looking over the River Dee. Comfy bed. Pleasant staff.
Breakfast too expensive. Cleaner left the floors rubbish bag in our room. Shower v hard to get temperature right
Location was central and very close to the town. The bar area and restaurant were well laid out and very clean.
The bedrooms were very dated and very small. Unlike the foyer and bar the bedrooms were very tired and needed updating, the housekeeping was very poor, cleaning standards need to be improved dramatically.
Excellent location. Within easy walking distance to shops & cafes.
Limited directions. Please put out cÿlear signage on the main road to indicate where the entrance to the hotel is. No lift available and there are tonnes of stairs to negotiate
Convenient location and fun entertainment on Saturday night
They now charge for parking in their car park
A bit run down, and the bar area was more like a housing estate boozer feel. The food was terrible but told the breakfast was fine. I've stayed here a few times over the years, and it's not as homely and comfortable as it once seemed.
The food. Room all a bit tired. Nothing specific, just tired.
Location and the deck outside overlooking the river
The entire place is very very tired and dirty. The beds were exceptionally uncomfortable and the pillows were even worse.
We loved the location and the size of the room. It was also very clean
We didn’t like the multiple flights of stairs to our room. The hot water pressure in the shower was too low and so it was cold. We didn’t like having to pay for parking as a hotel guest
The location and breakfast
Length of time it took to be served with evening meal
Great location, room was a good size, breakfast was good.
Floor in room was slightly uneven.
Location great. Didnt have breakfast
I have a blue badge and expected to pay £8.00 to park in hotel car park wouldn't return for that reason. Also staff need to smile.
It was in the centre which was easy to access Llangollen. Food was lovely and staff were polite and helpful. Liked the outside seating and bar area.
Parking could be limited but staff helped me find somewhere for my small car to squeeze in. Breakfast was pricey so we went to a cafe instead.
I didn’t have breakfast.
I had a very tiny room which was ok for me but compared to other single person bookings I have had it was not great.
Good location. Friendly staff Lovely garden.

Everything
Central
Needs updated
The location was really close to the town centre and bars and restaurants
Bathroom wasn't really clean No information in the room on WiFi, the hotel or local area - would have been helpful On site parking was £8 - would have been good if it was free for guests
We spend a lovely time in hotel.Staff are really nice, brekfast very good and food in Bistro was deliciouse.I was sleeping like a baby🙂.Definitely recomended and we will be back again.
Location was great.
Very outdated, stains in bedroom, shower pressure poor, breakfast wasn’t refilled quick enough.
Location.
Room needs updating ,bedroom uncomfortable and noisy when turning over during the night. No electric shower.. Breakfast was good but on both mornings had to ask for food that had ran out and was kept waiting so rest of breakfast went cold.
Great central location with beer garden overlooking the river.
Very dated and run down. Mattress and pillows were of very poor quality. Not fit for purpose. Staff not friendly.
No pressure in shower.
View from the room
Dated old fashioned and expensive
Location was really good and we enjoyed sitting out on the terrace overlooking the river with a few drinks. Excellent WiFi which kept the teen happy.
We had a family room that was situated over the entrance door to the reception. Unfortunately there was also a staff service door next to that, that staff members stood at smoking cigarettes and the smoke and smell drifted in through our window stinking the whole room out. Was far too hot not to have the window open unfortunately.
Fantastic view and location. One member of staff was great, he was very helpful, friendly and hardworking but I can't say the same for the rest.
uncomfortable bed that sagged in the middle, hard lumpy pillows. the sink was cracked and the shower was broken and rusty that leaked at the base with a trickle of water coming out. The chairs in the bar area were filthy. the whole place needs a big upgrade in my opinion and I wouldn't return.
Great short stay..bed was really comfortable lovely clean room and a beautiful sun terrace overlooking the River was a lovely way to spend the evening and unwind
Can't fault it great place to stay
Loved the charming character of the building .. felt cosy yet spacious .. staff were friendly and efficient.. excellent breakfast.
No elevator.. but one doesn’t expect one in a a hotel of this era.
Lovely barmaid and bar service. Great location.
Bedroom door wouldn’t open , had to call reception- very dangerous in the case of a fire! Not the friendliest receptionist either.
Helpful staff, great location where could walk to nice restaurants and along canal, car park was good (had to pay extra for this though), family room was good size and comfortable for us
Music was very loud and played until quite late and could hear music in room, we had 2 small children but luckily they just slept through it but good to be aware!
Great location.
Rooms are very dated. Bathroom needs renovating. Shower was poor.
Location Good sized family room but double was small. Great cot Staff helpful Managed to book in at 1 pm
Complicated parking payments if you book via booking.com parking is not included Despite having big car park spaces not ring fenced for hotel No lift lots of stairs Toilet cistern dripped in double room annoying Windows not opening Needs renovation
Discounted room had double cheaper than single. Helpful staff. Comfy bed. good lighting. Nice size room and bathroom. Nice shampoo and shower gel
Shower could have been better but nice to have bath too
Central, good entertainment on a Saturday, breakfast very good
Car park price, place needs updating, no lift
Central location, clean room.
Car parking charges, very small room for the price paid. Staff looked unhappy
Location
The room was clean. Tea and coffee was good.
The shelf above the sink didnt allow you to wash your face without hitting your head. The space where the toilet was felt a little cramped. The curtains were heavy but had to be closed for any privacy. People seemed to stand and chat just below the window at night. Parking was difficult to spot - had to go round the block and eventually ask at the desk.
Needs a major refurbishment!
Felt dingy and unclean and was very tired
Great location have stayed previously but . Nice outside terrace overlooking the river. Interesting old building.
The shower in our room was very difficult to regulate and unpredictable.
All
No fridge in the room
Location, outside decking area, friendly staff.
Perhaps able to sit outside later as decking area closed at 9.30.
Tout est parfait
Great location, lovely beer garden and staff very friendly. Breakfast was lovely. Rooms very dated and beds hard but apart from that it was fine
Hard beds. Very warm room. Shower not the best
Location
Not very clean room & shower was terrible as was the bathroom in general.
Fantastic location, easy to walk to and from in the evening.
Location was great.
Rooms very tired, dated and needing a refurb. Beds and pillows uncomfortable. Everywhere needs a good deep clean. Receptionist did not seem to like her job.
Location was good for an event at the Pavillion.
The room felt like someone had shoved a bed in a cupboard and then charged me £200 to stay awake all night listening to next doors' conversation. I have never felt so ripped off.
Friendly staff, great breakfast, great location.
Room (single) was v small, and quite noisy. But for what I paid - can't complain at all
Very friendly helpful staff. Great location. Not a luxury stay, with dated facilities and a leaky toilet, but nothing major. We are very likely to return.
Bathrooms could do with a refresh. But the rest of the room is understandably dated and part of the charm of the old building.
Everything but mainly the view
Nothing
Lovely place to stay so central and really enjoyed the breakfast and the folk band
Nothing
Very disappointed room dated and dirty , shower was a curtain and way to small to be honest it's old room everything is old , staff are ace poor buggers are doing everything to help you but yeah wouldn't go Back it's a 50 quid room
Dirty
Beautiful views and a spacious bath.
Decor is in need of a little TLC.
We could clearly see when we booked it that the hotel was old fashioned and we were okay with that
When we walked into reception there was a strong smell of urine. We then got our keys and went to our room which also had a really bad smell of rotten vegetables and egg, the bathroom door was falling apart and the whole room seemed to be on a hill. It would have been impossible to get a shower and get ready in the bathroom it was that small and the door didn’t even close fully. The whole room was on a hill and felt unsafe when walking around. We got moved to another room which was better but still not the cleanest and had fly’s all over the room. The rooms were boiling even with the windows open.
Nice view, comfy room.
The shower was weak, bath taps ran very slow, sink tap dripped. Room 19
Location it was in, staff friendly, Beer garden, with outside bar unfortunately outside bar never opened Sunday due to staff shortage,
Decor very outdated, windows never opened proper. Booked for 4 nights twin room and single room for my son. Single room they put him in was 45, overlooking a Brickwall, with netting in between. Dead pigeon carcus , couldn't open his window for the smell. Was awake next morning at 5 am for the noise of piegens Mentioned it next day, so they changed his room . End of the day for what you pay, they should not be renting that room out. Probably get a better view from a prison window.
Central Good variety at breakfast Check in was quick and easy
Loads of staircases. Would be difficult to navigate for some people. No offer of carrying bags to room Need to pay for parking Room was very warm. Air con would be a great addition Tv was tiny
Location
Seems to have gone down bank in comparison to our previous stay
Location
A lot of stairs and like a maze
Breakfast was good.
Rooms were extremely dated. Lights in room were terrible flickering etc Bathroom was really old and poorly maintained , old taps and uneven floors. Bed was tiny and cramped, hanging lamp above headboard made it impossible to sit up without hitting your head The hotel was SO LOUD live music shouting and swearing until 1am and then from then on we had the delight of a couple arguing and throwing up right outside our window. It’s such a rough place avoid it.
Location and Breakfast was of good quality
Didn't use shower, shower head in desperate need of a clean. Room TOO hot, pillows were too thin or other option too thick and lumpy. Photos of rooms used on Booking.com looked quite modern but ours was extremely dated had we slept or at least been comfortable that wouldn't have mattered for just one night stay. Hotel areas dated, dusty and in need of TLC sadly. Thick duvet on bed in this current barmy heat, no fan. Party of over excited blokes who took over the hotel and were extremely loud !! Constant noise outside under room window which we had to leave fully opened as the heat in room was unbearable., Around midnight someone (loud and drunk) who had wrong room tried to barge our door to get in our room then loud voices /noise next door. Noise till around 1AM when it finally went quiet !! Breakfast room loud even heard a member of Breakfast staff comment to one of them how loud they were night before. Thankful only one night booked as Saturday nights live entertainment. £8 additional charge for parking so overall premium price for an extremely uncomfortable stay.
It was ok, near the centre of town so not far to walk.
Someone's clothes were under the bed so it hadnt been thoroughly cleaned.
Location
Room information was out of date. Broken glass in the window. Window opened very wide - enough to fall out (on 2nd floor)
Location close to shops, restsurants and bars on high street. Bed comfortable, made up each day, towels changed daily
Breakfast expensive we ate out. Bathroom door very close to shower door when opened. Drinks were trayed over the road to beer garden. Stairs to room were problematic. Terrible noise from pipes in adjoining rooms when showers in use
Great location, lovely hotel !
The location was spot on. The staff was friendly. Good entertainment. Comfortable room, good breakfast.
The bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned properly, there was hair and pubes on it. The room door didnt lock properly, there was only one screw in the receiver plate so you could just push the door open. And i thought the parking fee was steep at £8, free parking should be included in the stay or a greatly reduced rate.
Lovely old building. Impeccably clean. Great location.
Nothing.
Breakfast was fine and a helpful staff member
Parking,£8 for overnight, no space really awful. Beds were the worst we have ever experienced ds worse ever slept in
Location
Cleanliness of the place, especially the bathroom floor! Decor very outdated and the smell of stale smoke. Also dogs sat on outside benches eating food from the table. Poor organisation at breakfast time eg no glasses for juice had to wait until they had dried coffee/ tea machine not filled up either.
Location is ideal. Beer garden/terrace is really nice. Dog friendly. Bar is cheap enough for a tourist hotspot.
Hotel is showing its age, could really do with some TLC. Staff were fine but got the impression they couldn't be bothered. Wearing air pods whilst working the bar seemed a bit odd. Very noisy when traffic is in the corridor. Bed was uncomfortable, but that's personal preference, personally I prefer a firmer mattress, which most hotels don't have.
Great location, fab sun terrace, large car park, good band on Saturday evening, pretty good breakfast.
No power in the shower, poor pillows, soft bed, miserable staff.
Nice clean room but need refresh shower room
Was same staff the reception and a bar, so waiting longest for a drink
Great location, the staff were excellent and the service was very good. A good breakfast although a bit wanting on fresh fruits
Hotel and room were a bit tried and dated
Central
Breakfast fine. Evening meal not brilliant
Location was brilliant . Room was very basic .
Bed not comfortable. Breakfast very low standard . The bacon needed refilling . Beans were dry from keeping warm. Fried eggs were half cooked . No fruit salad . The hotel needs someone to keep on top of breakfast and check the quality and availability of everything .
Bed was comfy.
The whole hotel needs updating. The staff need training and the price needs to be lowered considerably for what is essentially a 1 star possibly 2 star hotel. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Just really isn’t a great hotel and the price is eye watering for what you get.
Location to the Eisteddfod and staff were very helpful
no air conditioning or fans. Also Booking .com quoted me a price over 100 GBP less than I was charged. I believe this was a fault at Booking.com not adding VAT
Excellent location with ample car parking, clean everywhere, good WiFi
Nothing
Great location , great view and beautiful grounds .
The bathroom needs updating
The location is very good. The room was clean with a good view. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food was good . I liked the old charm of the hotel, some bits need a bit of refreshing but it is classed as three star. I would stay again.
Could do with topping up breakfast, not keen on 7.30 breakfasts when on holiday.
